  1. Really nice review! I absolutely loved Berseria it was definitely one of the best rpgs I have played and I only put it below Vesperia.  The characters were definitely part of why I loved it so much. I pretty much loved them the moment they were introduced (well Laphicet had to grow on me) Velvet was such a great protagonists, truly among the best.

I do agree about the combat it get's pretty repetitive especially if you played some of the more recent Tales games. I also thought the ending was a bit lackluster but I still enjoyed it.

  2. I like this critical review you have made Maggie well done! I'm inspired to write my own negative review of a certain nukige I recently played

Yeah I hate the whole but we're both dudes lines that pop up whenever you have a same sex couple. You see that in yuri stuff to a certain extent where they'll have a huge existential crisis because they both notice that they are girls. It's like yeah no shit. Also fuck the whole rape=love it's gross and repulsive no matter how you attempt to dress it up.

Is it a yuri? TBH, I'm not sold on the protagonist yet, but if it leads to some rival romance... ;)

Damn, was my mind always this warped? :s

Come on this is me you're talking about of course this is going to be hella yuri!

Maybe, possibly, who knows? I know but do you know?:maple:

Yeah probably, I like to think that I did my part to help you along the correct path.

I would love to tell you my thoughts, but that huge block of text really turned me off T_T if you're willing to cut that up, I'd really appreciate it.

But the synopsis certainly sounds intriguing enough. I like the escaping/recovering from the bully aspect, it made me think of Alive by Keiko Suenobu.

How about now? I probably should have done that in the beginning, sorry about that.

  5. From out of nowhere echoes a distant voice that pulsates through the air. The voice gently cries Ranzo lives. One by one different voices take on the cry, black winged carrion of the sky, tides of frenzied rats bursting from dwellings underground, writhing centipedes fighting for a early death, vicious looking horrors deep down fathoms below, all take up the cry! Ranzo lives still!

Oh, yeah, it should be a perfect therapy after reading Creature Romance. I have to admit, that kiss CG haunts me just after seeing it in your post, I don't think I'd be strong enough to play through the whole thing - though maybe that mention of alcohol explains it? :o

Anyways... I'm definitely in the same camp and OELVN scene is pretty interesting in this regard. There's quite a few creators that try to escape porn tropes when approaching sexual themes - whether they succeed in creating something worthwhile is a whole another topic though. ;p

Sorry about that but I spared you two absolutely horrifying nudity scenes so be grateful for that. Oh yeah I got pretty drunk in order to play it and I'm glad I did. The worst thing about it is that even if you removed the whole disgusting bug girl it would just be a completely vapid and shitty vn regardless.

I need to dip my toes in that scene more what I have played so far is been pretty good.

Well, you dream of dating predator-like skullboys might still come true

The real question regarding these new Sekai releases though... Is Girls in Glasses a nukige? I... Like girls with glasses.

I mean that might be something you and @MaggieROBOT might be into since it is a otome game after all:holo:

Now imagine what would happen if it had h-scenes. :makina:

Well haha it came pretty damn close to having that. There was some nudity that was unspeakably horrible. I gotta say if it did have an h scene in it I would have probably been forced to gouge out my eyes.

My encounter with Galaxy Angel was through Animax, in which they broadcasted the anime. As for the impression, well I think more or less it's just two parter anime in one episode and full of gag, not that I remember my impression back then lol (It's at 2006). So more or less I just forgot about this, until back at 2010 when I ask someone for VN Recommendations (Not through internet) and I saw the name 'Galaxy Angel'. Long story short, I managed to saw all of the trilogy translated, and obviously realized that the VN and the anime version was very different.

For the VN itself, while one could argue that more or less it's Grisaia predesscor because we can think the 2nd and 3rd part as the fandisc, I say that Galaxy Angel itself is better than Grisaia for the trilogy (Of course each of Grisaia VN is better than Galaxy Angel VN, but that's another story). The reason is simple, because they consistent with the coupling throughout the trilogy - you can chose the heroines that you wanted to be with at the sequels. While there's also additional routes that was added for the 2nd part like Grisaia, it's still possible to happen because we can have Tact end with no one at the first VN (Quite a Guide Dang It though) unlike Kajitsu in which the only way that it was possible for the trilogy to be happened was through the infamous anime adaptation lol.

As for my impression of the first part, it's definitely outdated looking from the engine. There's no voice playback, only 10 slots for save, and most definitely an unintuitive way to save everywhere. I did thought I could only save at certain point, which mean it'll be a pain if I need to chose between the ladies. Turned out that I just need to press ESC button, and that's after I asked about this at VNDB. That said, other than those technical problem I did managed to like this VN a bit even though the story was pretty simple. Oh and I also like that the seiyuu who voicing Galaxy Angel were well known, Like Yukari Tamura and Miyuki Sawashiro. I think that's all for what I can say in regard of Galaxy Angel for now.

PS - By the way, quite an interesting review there. Also if I may ask something, did you interested to play the sequels @Ranzo? Like your Mint avatar by the way.

Yeah it sounds like your timeline on GA discovery is about the same as mine. It was like late 2006 when I found out about Galaxy Angel. They had a few legitimately serious episodes thrown in each season and they were usually very well done. But yeah the anime is completely different from the manga or the VN though the character traits pretty much bleed through.

Well with Galaxy Angel Moonlit Lovers there is a new character introduced. That's what makes them really good sequels you grow with the characters naturally. Yeah it is incredibly outdated which is a real shame because there are a lot of great moments in the VN. If you start from Moonlit yeah you get a nice recap but you loose the opportunity of slowly getting close to each character. Unless you go for Chitose that is. I managed to somehow get it working on my laptop but it can barely make it through the opening menu on my newer computer.

Thank you for your kind words! Yes, I played through both Moonlit and Eternal Lovers though I don't think I did every single route. I think I only played through Mint's story in Eternal.

  9. Thank you for putting it in list form reading Cracked articles from back in the day has conditioned me to only be able to read anything that way

I think a lot of these problems are present in other types of visual novels as well

Yuri vn's, manga, and anime mostly seem to occur in a world that has either killed off it's male population or sentenced women to a lifetime of sex segregation.

In hetero vn's we hardly ever get to see the dudes face during the sex scene the most we can get is some disembodied male torso. The few times we do get to see the dudes face it looks like he has had his eyeballs removed and sewn shut.

As a side note I was legitimately shocked when I read a yuri manga called Prism that actually had a side character who was bisexual

Condoms just don't exist in Japan Maggie, along with STDs and unwanted pregnancies

OH, SO THAT IS WHAT YOU'RE WRITING ABOUT!

I should stop seeing fuwa reviews since they only make me wanna play multiple VNs at the same time even though I'm horrible with time management. xoD

Also Forte must be strong (PT Jk you won't get, but, I had to make anyway).

Anyway, Noice review, you've been improving. :mare:

Thank you! It's real hard reviewing a game you love without just let's say just repeating THE GAME IS GREAT! MINT IS THE BEST! THE GAME IS GREAT! MINT IS THE BEST! over and over again.

Also Forte=Fuerte yeah I get it :jinpou:

This one is still waiting on my to-read quoue after I've got through the prologue, but I've heard so many good things about it I really want to leave it for a moment when I'll have some free time and possibility to enjoy it to the fullest. :]

Great review, there's just one thing I will diasgree with and that is the "yuritopia" of many Japanese VNs, in which everyone's gay by default and nothing has to be elaborated upon. No social stigma, no uncertainty. I mean, it's so far from any imaginable RL situations that it takes me out of the experience a little bit. But I guess it's part of the formula, just like BL traditionally didn't deal with gay identity in any tangible ways. I think it's changing though? @MaggieROBOT

Yeah it's definitely worth taking your time and really enjoying it. Well for me I appreciate that there are VN's that treat gay relationships the way that straight relationships are treated. Like no big deal. Actually, a lot of yuri stuff deal with a overflow of uncertainty. I don't know how many times I've heard the lines "I can't love kiss/fall in love with a girl." If you want something Yuri that deals with rl social stigma I would check out the manga Prism by Higashiyama Shou.

  12. Good article the drama cd I really wished had some kind of translation was the one from G-Senjou https://vgmdb.net/album/11548

Maybe someday if I actually learn the language I will finally be able to hear what the hell its about. Kindred spirits on the roof actually has several drama cds made and I'll probably have to listen to them all. Though I am normally okay with playing vn's that are unvoiced I always feel like there is a bit missing I'm looking at you Enigma.

Also it's a shame that Omerta isn't translated because that actually looks really cool. (I still love anything mafia related)

  13. Really enjoyed your review it sounds like it is something I should definitely avoid. Whenever someone just causally mentions that they are part of a secret society like its nothing you know the story is in for a bad time. Also I'm going to echo the absurdity of creating a fully functional human body out of nothing but stuff you can buy online. Like how do you even begin to obtain the materials needed in order to create bone or the intestinal tract? It literally would have worked better if she had just magic to make it.
