  1. I'm just saying that there is so many damn high school settings in vns, manga's, and anime's (yuri or otherwise) that you really have to make it stand out from the crowd. You've got to really come through with a different take(bullying is a decent angel) on the typical high school stuff. Read something like Bloom Into You, even though it is a high school yuri it does things very different than the others and that makes it stand out. Also think about how long its been since you left high school. Can you really give a realistic take on a high schoolers voice?
  2. Also, I fucking called it. As a dog returneth to his vomit, so a fool returneth to his folly.
  3. UGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGHHHHHHHHHHHHHH. Another high school setting. Come on, dude I work in a high school! That's shit is played out son. Why did you decide on the high school setting? Is there something new and fresh you can bring to that setting or is going to be yet another high school yuri? I think the characters are pretty interesting though I might suggest giving her a little more edge or grit to her because she sounds a bit too inoffensive and kind of boring. Oh and the whole making it a eroge thing I would suggest maybe not doing it because I mean writing sex scenes probably really sucks. Drama is great in yuri along with a slow build relationship.(just so that build isn't glacial) I think the best ones buck the most common tropes and attempt to subvert them or have very few misunderstandings.
  4. How about you watch a documentary or two about mass produced chicken farms to make you feel even worse? That sounds like a good idea.
  5. My problem with that was it ended so quickly and cheaply for max shock value. I want something with the central focus being on the depression itself. And that severe depression is more of a life sentence than a death sentence.
  6. As someone who has romanticized about potentially making a vn(and then promptly doing nothing about) I'd say that you probably need to first think of a concept for your vn. (what's the plot, who are the characters, etc.) After that you need to think about who'll do the actual writing and storyboarding of your vn. Then you need to think about who will be your editor because every project needs one of those. After that you need a illustrator or illustrators for storyboards, character sprites, cgs, and backgrounds. Then you need a composer to work on the bgm and someone to help with the background sounds. Finally you need a programmer who knows how to use whatever vn engine you plan on using. Oh and you need someone to think about the budgeting of your vn and whether or not you'll make it commercial or free to play and basically how you'll be paying for the services that you will need in order to make your vn. You need to start thinking about how many of these tasks you can accomplish by yourself and how many things you can't do by yourself.
  7. Yes, yes I have. I have played quite a few vns with depressed and or suicidal characters and for the most part when they crop up they are handled kind of well. Doki Lit Club had that one depressed girl and I liked how kind of realistic her trauma was conveyed. (Well realistic in a sense) It's a shame that she I think it would be interesting to have a vn romance with a character that had terrible depression and you had to play some weird balancing act in order to help her keep together. (It could explore the realistic concept that love and tenderness can't be the only thing to save a person and that real bad depression isn't something you just get over.)
  8. Kindred Spirits is completely different than Seabed and yeah, you'd probably really enjoy it.
  9. That's been a comparison that has been brought up quite a bit but I think they are on two completely different wavelengths. For one thing at least with Touko we get several crucial moments from her perspective compared to getting jack shit from Mei. Also, Touko is considerate enough to ask for permission and knows when to back off while Mei is pretty much incapable of that. Her reason for being who she is also more well defined, and comes from a place of actual loss. I'm not going to deny that Touko is manipulative but she does have warmth. I have only seen a few episodes of Sakura Trick and while I thought it was okay I didn't find anything that really made me feel invested in it at all (even thought the kisses were pretty rad) Aoi Hana I've never seen but I read the manga a bit and got bored of it.
  10. I hope you enjoy Strawberry Panic, that was my first taste of the yuri scene way back when. It also has one of the best supporting characters of all time. As for me it is still Bloom and it is still really wonderful and everything that I hoped it would be.
  11. Yeah, Aioshiro can be fucking chore to get through at first but thankfully a good portion of the admittedly pretty shitty info dumping and endless food conversation can be skipped through during the rest of the vn.
  12. I like endings that fit the nature of the story and don't feel cheap or rushed. There have been times in the past when I've lamented happy endings but, as a contrast, the times when I did get a sad ending I sometimes wished for a happy ending instead. What I really want in an ending is it to feel justified. Happy or sad. Hell, I'll even stomach a deus ex machina ending, as long as there is some establishment of the possibility of that happening. I preferred the somewhat happy ending of Swan Song to the depressing one and I preferred Phorni's ending in Symphonic Rain over Al Fine(though I did like both of them)
  13. HEY! Get out of here!! Wimmin ain't allowed here during club meetings!!! We're talking about dating dudes here! On the subject at hand, I haven't played any Otomes yet because I got turned off by how much of a lame dame the protag in Yo Jin Bo was and I'm not used to playing vns on a vita(even though I have one) I do want to start eventually though
  14. I'd say like others Kindred Spirits is a good choice along with Nurse Love Addiction. Both volumes of Flowers are great as well especially the second one based wholly one the strength of the one of the best protags out there. Katahane is also a underrated vn that deserves a mention as well. Aoishiro has some romantic moments though it is more plot heavy than anything else(Best be prepared though, for long, long discussions about food and Japanese mythology) Fatal 12 has some good yuri moments in it and it is one of the best VNs I've played all year. On your EVN side you've got some pretty decent picks like Highway Blossoms, Starlight Vega, Butterfly Soup, Love Ribbon. Anyway, welcome to the yuri club! Enjoy as it slowly starts taking control over all aspects of your life. So....
  15. I like good endings or ones that fit the overall story There are many times when I liked the ending of one particular heroine over the designated true end of a vn (Like Kyou's and Tomoyo's end in Clannad) And there are times when I enjoy the true end more than all the others (G Senj)
  16. I mean yeah I would say Kanon for sure Also Galaxy Angel because it takes place in space and who knows, it could very well be winter on some planet somewhere.
  17. Don't make promises you don't intend to keep
  18. I forgot about this episode Rip Stan Lee
  19. Finished Crystalline and by god did they fuck up the world building also the writing was for the most part pretty mediocre. The jokes were by and large both cringe and suck. They seemed to have regressed since Ace Academy Artistically though it was a huge leap in quality The voice acting for the main characters was real good Not so much for the side and bit characters Don't fucking put beach volleyball and karaoke in a visual novel about a fantasy world you stupid fucks!
  20. If you are still looking for recommendations here are some non yuri ones that I would recommend to you https://mangadex.org/title/17342/machida-kun-no-sekai This one is really fantastic and is just good for the soul. It kinda restores your faith in humanity until something happens a second later to destroy it all over again. https://mangadex.org/title/15722/tomo-chan-wa-onna-no-ko It has a great lead and it is truly funny https://mangadex.org/title/22078/saotome-senshu-hitakakusu This is very endearing and sweet and proves that tomboys are the best both in and out of yuri https://mangadex.org/title/16050/kawaii-hito This is sort of unusual but very sweet, a guy with a face like death finds a girl who loves him. https://mangadex.org/title/15240/kishuku-gakkou-no-juliet It is one of the few male helmed shojos that I like because I can understand why a woman would fall for him.
  21. Flowers volume 1 and 2 are pretty great. I especially like the sequel because it has one of the best protags ever.
