I thought about just staying a guest and lurking through some topics every now and then, but I really like the atmosphere of this place... everyone's nice and chill... I think
I named myself dwaif a long time ago. I'm a pretty old user from the blockland forums (the only other forums I use nowadays), if you don't know what that is... well... it's like playing with legos on the internet.

I found this website completely by chance. I'm really new to visual novels, and I'm sorta picky... I went through dozens of reddit recommendations and wound up reading through recommendations here too. My first ever VN (or dating sim) was Heartache 101 …like years ago, and I still play it sometimes! I didn't touch any more vns until one day out of the blue I wanted to give the genre a shot, and played Chrono Clock earlier this year. I really enjoyed it, and started Grisaia no Kajitsu. I played through Yumiko's and Michiru's route so far, and loved every minute with them. Grisaia really exceeded my expectations, and actually made me tear up lmao
ChiruChiru is the best girl in my book B^)

that's pretty much it though... there's not much else to know about me I guess, but feel free to ask me anything!
thanks for having me here, and I hope we all get along!

I love the music in Ef: A Fairy Tale of the Two. I'm not really sure how to describe it. It feels peaceful but also filled with a underlying sadness or longing. Regardless, I really couldn't imagine it without the music. (Tenmon who did most of music, also worked with Makoto Shinkai on many of his films and The Place Promised in our Early Days and 5 Centimeters Per Second and have excellent soundtracks too.)

Here are some of the ones I've played so far.....
    * Clannad . If you want something with immense emotional feels. Prepare to shed many manly (yet bittersweet) tears. Some of it's themes about friendship and family are quite profound. It's a rather long read though...
    * ef - a fairy tale of the two . Comes in two parts and has multiple protags. Various types of relationship drama (and emotional feels).
    * Fureraba . Maybe not the best in plot, but it's overloaded with comedy and light heartedness. Quite a lot of sex scenes too (if you get the uncensor patch).
    * Grisaia no Kajitsu . This is the VN that seriously got me hooked on the VN genre. It's writing is fantastic, it's music is great. It somehow manages to be both the funniest VN I've ever read ....... and also one of the darkest (it WAS the darkest I read, until I read Muv-Luv Alternative). Very recommended.
    * Kono Oozora (If my heart had wings) . Pretty light hearted, with some adventure.
    * Symphonic Rain . Probably the most unique VN I've read. Has a more melancholic setting, some deep characters, and even some interesting plot twists.
    * Wagamama High Spec . Like Fureraba, this is very light hearted. Also has the most sex scenes I've seen in a VN.

Yeah, that was a ride and a half!! I was even more emotionally invested in it then Clannad. I'm just glad I don't currently live in a cosmic horror timeline like that.....

Welp! Next up is ....... Steins;Gate. Another VN with parallel timelines eh?
...... is it just me, or is the music, REALLY intense?? Holy shit.....

Hello, I'm a college student studying computer science, and here in a sort place I don't usually frequent anymore: A forum. However, I have always enjoyed Japanese games all my life, especially visual novels; the people I look up to most are actually translators. I love the work they do, have always supported them, and continue to try to do so whenever I can. I love the whole community that is here where people work together for the passions they have. So I joined fuwanovel to be closer to my favorite passion and possibly dream profession ( I think it runs in the family, nearly every relative is bilingual, most trilingual, and my grandmother penta-lingual ). And so I as well study, and have been studying Japanese. I hope to contribute to the community me and others have benefited from for so long.
A pleasure to meet you all!

Grisaia is a masterpiece imo, strongly recommended. Off the wall comedy ....... while exploring some psychological themes when it gets serious (and it gets more serious then most VNs). And that soundtrack! It does have a rather long common route.
Symphonic Rain has a unique art style, and a unique world. And some interesting plot twists. It's one of the few VNs (that I know of), that ditches the moe elements (for the most part).

For a suggestion not on your list....
    * ef - a fairy tale of the two . Multiple love stories (which are somehow connected). Quite a lot of feels too....

    Shizune in Katawa Shoujo .
Yumiko in Grisaia no Kajitsu . Bit on the violent side. Michiru is also antagonistic like....
Yuzuyu from Fureraba is extremely verbally antagonistic. Rina is also on the competitive side somewhat....
Kei throughout the entirety of ef - the first tale .
Kyou from Clannad ..... is quite violent (played for laughs though). Fuko acts bratty at times too (and she's adorable!).
Azuki in Nekopara series butts heads with the rest of the cast often.

    What I'm Playing?
Currently that's ordering parts for my new PC, and getting my Dad to build it. I started actually ordering parts just now.
My return to reading VN's is imminent (now on an awesome 27inch monitor).

Nice to see a new person reading Grisaia.
What I love about Yuuji is his hilarious inner monologues. Guy has an interesting way of looking at the world....
You like "ChiruChiru"s voice now? Wait till you read her route (especially her goofy, and downright CUTE laughs). Honestly, she's still my favorite VN girl ever
Amane's route is ...... pretty special too ...... for entirely different reasons ....

I've been reading The Fruit of Grisaia and enjoying it thus far. I find that it looks (on the surface) similar to a lot of stuff I've read, but yet it keeps subverting my expectations, so I'm very interested to see how it winds up in the end. I like the background art, though, and the music isn't bad either. I also can't help but notice that I'm not exactly the biggest fan of Yuuji, but it's admittedly refreshing for him to be the way he is rather than the more generic "I've done loads of part time jobs" "superman" that Masaya and Takumi were from Princess Evangile and Noble Works respectively. So far though, the standout has to be Michiru who is, frankly, hilarious. They chose a GREAT VA for her, and whenever she starts whining, there's this kind of high pitched twing in her voice that makes her sound really frustrated. It's hilarious :D. And the things that Michiru does (and doesn't do) just wind up being so ridiculous and funny. I usually try and save my favorite heroine for last, and I'm having a hard time deciding whether or not I want that to be Michiru or Amane. It's strange - usually I wind up binging a VN (even ones I'm not super enthused for), and that hasn't happened here, but I'm still enjoying it a bunch. We'll see how it goes.
