    Project Introduction
This project aims to take all 10 arcs exclusively found on the PS2/DS/PS3 releases of Higurashi When They Cry and port them to PC with full English translation.  It will include the script, graphics, and audio assets from the PS3 version of Higurashi for maximum quality.  This will be done as a mod for Mangagamer's Steam re-release of Higurashi, which makes use of the tech in MG's new Higurashi engine to simplify the porting process, and also directly supports the official release.
Mangagamer is officially releasing English translations of all of the arcs from the various PC releases of Higurashi on Steam.  However, a company called Alchemist made the PS2, DS, and PS3 versions of Higurashi and they added a number of new arcs to the game with each release.  There are 10 new arcs in total, a mix of side stories, what-if scenarios, adaptations of manga arcs, arcs that develop characters that didn't get enough screentime, and an alternate ending for the entire series.  None of those have ever received an official English release, and likely never will because Alchemist went bankrupt in 2016.  So this project will hopefully give Higurashi fans an opportunity to finally read these arcs in English, some of which date back as early as 2007.
Here is the Project Website on GitHub for the Higurashi Console Arcs project.
Right now I'm the primary person contributing to the project, but I'm currently recruiting anyone willing to help.

    Progress
Someutsushi arc - 100% complete Kageboushi arc - 100% complete Tsukiotoshi arc - 100% complete Taraimawashi arc - 100% complete Yoigoshi arc - 100% complete Tokihogushi - 100% complete Miotsukushi Omote - starting now Tokihogushi has been released, bringing the total to 6/10 translated.  The next arc will be Miotsukushi Omote.

    Recruitment
I'm looking for a translator, a translation checker, and an editor or two to help out with the remaining arcs.  The project will get done significantly faster, and with better quality if I have some other people helping me out.  Let me know if you're interested in contributing!

WOOHOO!!  As a huge Chaos;Head fan, I am super excited about this! Definitely getting my hands on the Vita version day 1!
Chaos;Child is a sequel to Chaos;Head, not a prequel. It takes place six years after the events of Chaos;Head and I have seen some references to Chaos;Head like all of the New Gen incidents for example. I heard anything needed to understand Chaos;Child is explained in the game though, so it should be okay.

Sorry if my title was not as good and long as Nier here. As for the title, it's exactly that's what happen. Namely that PQube will localize Chaos Child and release it at Q3 2017 (Which would be between July to September, and October at most if there's no delay). As for mine, not interested since apparently it's only for PS4 and VITA ie no PC version. For the proof, here's the tweet from PQube below:
Look forward to the release if you own PS4 and VITA there.
PS - I knew that some of you probably already knew about this. But I figured that I should post it here, just in case some Fuwanovel member didn't get the news yet.

I finally got around to reading Riho's route and completing Deardrops! I'm sadly finishing this WAY later than I wanted to due to numerous things getting in the way (health issues, my wedding/honeymoon this month, and then my tablet with the game deciding to start having fits when trying to play the game right near the end of Riho's route...I was really worried I wasn't able to see the end but managed to get it to hang in there just long enough to finish), but I did it! I'm really glad I listened to everyone's advice and read Riho's route last since it was much, much better than any of the other routes. I can understand all of the jokes about her route also being Gonda's route as well, although I'm definitely glad to see there was a route that went more in-depth with Gonda after not seeing that in the common route. I also really liked that the game forced you to read at a certain pace during the concert scenes. I tend to read pretty fast, so having the game set the pace helped me slow down and really enjoy the music; thanks to that, the concert scenes were able to have a lot more of an impact on me. I'm a bit sad it's all over since I enjoyed my time with all of the characters and seeing what was going on in their lives. I definitely want to read the fan disc now!

    Summary
Shouichi was known as one of the ‘nobles’ of the violin world. Having started playing the violin when he was 3, he won the national violin competition when he was in middle school and went to Germany to play in orchestras. However, due to unknown reasons, he returned to Japan, gave up playing the violin and became a freeter. One day, he starts working at a live house and meets many other amateur musicians who are living their lives their own way. Together they will have to overcome obstacles in both their personal lives and as a band. To Shouichi, the live house is a new beginning in a new place… a new world which has opened to him when he thought that his future as a musician had closed.

Finally got around finishing Riho's route. And what a way to end my time with Deardrops it was!
The concert scenes were probably the best in the game and the passion for music and the different forms it takes was really intense. Too bad the auto-play scenes went little too close to being excessive near the end, but otherwise I'm very satisfied. Can't see any other way it could have ended.
On the whole I'm not too sure how I feel about Deardrops, but it's certain that I don't regret reading it. The amazing concert scenes and passion for music alone was worth it. And I think it's best I leave it at that.

I wrapped up Riho's route (my last one left), which was indeed head and shoulders above the rest, including Kanade's route, just as promised.
I've decided that, honestly, more games should have those scenes that force you to read at the game's pace. It's a pain, but it really does work. I felt like they abused it a little bit with the very last one in Riho's route, which honestly seemed like a kind of silly scene to me (I think they probably could've timed it better for a little more dramatic ending by chopping off most of the last ~15 minutes), but all the previous ones worked really well for forcing me into the rhythm and mood the game wanted me to experience.
I also want to comment on and generalize one thing a lot of people have brought up: the fact that music, and all the characters' passion for music, is at the heart of this story is what makes it tick. I deeply enjoy stories revolving around a characters' shared passion. In that regard, I think this game is actually very similar to KonoSora/If My Heart Had Wings, and I honestly can't call to mind any other VN like that (though I'm sure there are others; it's not like I've played all that many, in the grand scheme of things). I suspect that same angle is why I like a fair amount of sports anime (Chihayafuru, anyone?). VNs often revolve around romance or conflict, which is fine, but these rare few stories that set up an aspirational, challenging, shared passion as the centerpiece of the story appeal to me on a really deep level. These people live and breathe music (just like the characters in KonoSora live and breathe gliders), and it's immensely satisfying to watch them achieve their dreams together.

I finished Kanade's route a few days ago and thought it was definitely much better than the Rimu and Yayoi routes since it didn't feel tacked on in comparison to those. I really like how the narration changed frequently between Kanade and Shoichi because I thought it was really interesting to see things from both character's perspectives. I hope to see perspective changes in Riho's route as well; I think it would be cool to see things through Riho's eyes. Some of the drama in this route felt really awkward and strange like Kanade's various reasons for not being able to sing and the Johann stuff, but there were other parts of the route that were really good that made up for some of the awkwardness. My favourite parts of her route was the concert near the end as well as Shoichi playing in the street.  I'm hoping to reading/finish Riho's route soon since she is still my favourite heroine so far
I'll get to the questions in a bit since I want to think about them for a little while before responding.

Just finished Kanade's route and got started on Riho's route (not looking like I'm going to finish the whole game by April, but I'm going to try!). I'll echo Turnip's comments that Kanade narrating so much of it really helps the route feel more complete. In general, I'm a fan of VNs that let the heroines narrate for a while (the longer the better, almost), especially when that means you see the protagonist from their perspective, so I'm hoping that Riho's route will deliver more of that. I also liked a couple of the new characters who appeared in her route, especially Megumi and Johann, both of whom ended up being much more interesting than they looked at first blush.
The story arc was solid and well-resolved, and felt both thematically appropriate for the game (in contrast to Rimu's or Yayoi's route) and quite different from anything I'd seen so far in the common route. Kanade hadn't really been properly shown off elsewhere, and it was pleasant getting to see her really shine. Also, I feel like the CG artist really loved Kanade; every last CG of her looks stunning. The sprite artist, well, not so much (though her secondary sprite is kind of cute, I suppose).
    On to Riho's route!

Finally got around reading more. I've been spoiled by books so much lately that I managed to read 5 books in the time I spent thinking when to continue with Deardrops.
Anyways. Yayoi's route was pretty weird that it's made just like a cop-out side-route (short, skims around the main story/themes), but despite these it wasn't that bad. The drama was interesting enough that I almost forgot they should still have a band and the ending was really cool.
Kanade's route seems pretty good. I really like how Kanade itself narrates about half of her route (so far), makes it feels like it's actually her story too. But it also makes me wish even more that Shoichi would have more personality. He already drowns under others during group scenes, partly due to not being voiced and not having enough presence because of that. Contrasting that with Kanade makes it even more obvious.

I finished Yayoi and Rimu's routes a few days ago. While Yayoi's route was short, I thought it was pretty good! I agree about the one CG near the end being absolutely awesome 9the one with Yayoi in the park with the guitar); I think that is my favourite CG in the game so far! As for Rimu's route, I wasn't a fan of it and was hoping it was going to be better. I definitely think it was disappointing; the drama felt really forced and stupid, and a lot of the route was predicable. I am looking forward to seeing how Kanade's route turns out since I am reading her route next.

@Kiriririri Yep, this analysis is just on what's popular so more obscure niche stuff, both in Japan and for OELVNs, aren't well represented. It's not meant to be a complete picture of the VN scene, just of what the "mainstream" is (in as much as the VN scene has a mainstream).
My analysis on trends with VN protagonists is now up:

Between last night and tonight, I finished both Rimu's route (I only had like five minutes left in it, it turned out) and Yayoi's route. Rimu's ending was kinda sweet, I guess, but all in all a pretty disappointing route, with rather forced, trivial drama. Yayoi's, on the other hand, was actually good, if short, and it had one CG near the end (not in the H scene, you pervs, before that) that I thought was awesome. Deardrops was worth playing for that CG alone, but now it's time for me to move on to the more substantial routes! I'm pleased to say that I'm really looking forward to Kanade's. It took her a while to win me over, but I have a feeling she's going to kick all kinds of ass. I'm actually more excited for her than for Riho, at this point.
