1. I honestly think that you're just trying to bait Rewrite's fanbase but alright, I'll bite. Yes, Rewrite does have a lot of glaring issues but to me at least it still manages to be pretty damn close to masterpiece status despite that which is a feat that very few VNs or even anything in any medium can pull off. The Common Route has a lot of charm which yes, some of the heroine routes and even the true route are lacking but they make up for it in different ways, with the action scenes and the development of the world's lore. Also, despite having romance routes it is at it's core in no way romance focused, which I admit I found to be one of its faults but that's because I love a good romance story, preferrably with a happy ending, so that's my own personal bias, yet I fully enjoyed it despite that. P.S. Lucia's route was actually one of my least favorites despite her being one of my favorite heroines. Ryukishi's writing style doesn't belong in a Key VN, it was very much out of place and at times even a bit jarring. Also, I don't think that anyone calls it Key's finest work. That would be Clannad, which I actually don't agree with. I find their best work to be Little Busters but that's a discussion for another time.
2. Takumi really wasn't dense at all, he was just a worrier which inadvertantly led to the drama in a couple of the routes. As for recommendations: Hoshizora no Memoria (I don't remember You being all that dense but it has been a while) To Heart 2 (Takaaki isn't really dense but he is uncomfortable around girls which can lead to him making some stupid decisions but overall it's good fun) I'm also going to throw in Harukoi Otome. Akihito can be dumb as a ton of bricks but he more than makes up for it after the fact. Note: I'm not sure if all these count as moeges, though they seem to be close enough.
3. Probably Escalation ~Kuruai no Fugue~ or Otomaid @ Cafe Probably moreso in the latter case but both were surprisingly decent for what they were.
4. Looking at it entirely subjectively I have a few that immediately come to mind: Little Busters Da Capo II Kira Kira (The true route is still one of my favorites ever) Hoshimemo (Same reason) Tsukihime Rewrite
5. I've only really played a handful of VNs with true endings myself but personally, aside from Planetarian and a couple others I've generally thought very poorly of VNs with a single ending and try to avoid them whenever possible. I very much prefer having multiple routes with one main route. Aside from that, I really don't see how having a true end makes the other endings pointless, when really, they can help to give greater appreciation for the other characters and I know that as an example something like Rewrite or the original Majikoi's true ending would have had a lot less emotional impact if the heroine routes hadn't been there to help me get attached to the individual heroines and learn about them, rather than just throwing a bunch of irrelevant crap into the main route to try to explain everything.
6. Definitely Sonohana, and Lillium x Triangle was really cute.
7. Ditto on Kamidori. Also, Eien no Aselia and its sequel Seinarukana seem like they'll fit what you're looking for pretty well. Aselia - https://vndb.org/v74 Seinarukana - https://vndb.org/v26
8. Started up Snow Sakura. I'm only a few hours into the common route and so far it's shaping up to be a fun ride. The protagonist is cool and I don't really dislike any of the heroines.
9. Yaaaaay! Been looking forward to this for a long time now and tomorrow it will finally be here!
10. All that really comes immediately to mind out of what I've played so far is Bunny Black but I'm not sure if Darx would entirely fulfill what you're asking for.
11. It's been a while since I've seen the anime and haven't yet gotten to the VN so I may be wrong but I seem to remember Yukito from Air being fairly stoic with a limited emotional range.
12. For me it's a tough call between Koyuki and Wanko but Koyuki wins by a small margin.
13. This reminds me that I need to read Tokyo Babel still. Anyways, I actually really really enjoyed Harukoi Otome, Riru's route being one of my personal favorites out of any VN (and she herself being one of my top heroines.) Also, I'm not entirely sure if this is unpopular or not but I'll go for it anyways: Komari's route was one my favorite parts of Little Busters.
14. First of all, we all know that Shizuru is best girl, though my favorite route was admittedly Hinata's for some reason. Other than that, it's a lot fluffier and lighthearted than its initial premise and certain events may lead you to believe, which I believe may be what turns some people off or lowers their enjoyment as they would have been expecting something different. Personally though, I loved it entirely as is.
15. In general I feel like an observer, following the protagonist wherever he goes or following others as necessary. I guess it could depend but usually to me it feels as if the protagonist is speaking directly to the reader with the narration, heck there are even several instances in the VNs I've read where the protagonist actually directly speaks to the reader and I love it as it makes me feel more like a part of the story. Besides that, the protagonists deserve to be their own seperate entities and I feel as if we were meant to be the protagonist it would take away any potential impact from character development, emotional moments would be less so, etc etc. At least that's my take on the situation.
16. I prefer mosaics, mostly as genitals typically seem to be drawn very poorly and end up looking kinda gross. I feel that at the very least if a VN is going to be uncensored there should be an option to restore mosaics somewhere.
17. As others have said as long as they're well written and the perviness isn't their one most prevalent trait then I'm all for them.
18. Been going through Umineko and I've gotta say.. I'm expecting it to get better but episode 1 wasn't very good at all. The kids were cool but most of the adults were aggravating from beginning to end and even the kids were getting annoying towards the end. The 'logic' they were trying to use to solve the mystery was annoying since they kept repeating themselves over and over while making baseless assumptions. There's more but long story short I was not impressed with the first episode though I'm expecting it to get better at some point. On a positive note the OST is one of the best that I've ever heard and Beatrice seems like a fun character, so both of those things for now are enough to keep me going and see it through. Oh, also Battler is a pretty cool protagonist, if not a bit aggravating himself with his stubbornness.
19. Before that it would be nice if we could get an official Chaos;Head release. Robotics;Notes would be nice too but I hear that there would be difficulties there so I dunno how feasible that is.
20. This. And if you do want to attempt to 100% do it at (bare minimum) the end of your third playthrough otherwise it will be very very very painful.
21. I don't remember the translation being that bad aside from the prologue and even that was only a little awkward due to the third person narrative. Maybe it's just because I'm not overly critical but it read just fine to me. I had no problems at all and had very thoroughly enjoyed it, the true ending being one of my favorite endings ever.
22. Awkward how? I don't remember it being awkward at all, though the prologue did a feel bit off since it was written in third person. If that's the issue then yeah, it gets better.
23. Thus far Mangagamer all around.. if only because I'm a sucker for moeges, I'm a fan of Sonohana, and Hapymaher looks really interesting. SP gets an honorable mention because of Hoshimemo being my favorite VN of all time for some inexplicable reason. Really, I don't understand it myself but I just loved it despite all of its flaws and definitely am planning on reading the official release.
24. Sona-Nyl and Sorcery Jokers both look interesting too.. Damn you Mangagamer, have you no mercy on our poor wallets?!
25. Hapymaher looks fantastic, and another Sonohana title is always exciting. Good job Mangagamer.
