  2. x64dbg is like ollydbg but also supports 64-bit. edit: hard to say which one of them without context, but the five mov [edi+ecx*4-xx],eax look like some sort of switch case, maybe for handling script commands
  3. You could use debugger to see the surroundings of a command and pick the one that looks likely to be correct, for example if it has WinAPI call like TabbedTextOutA nearby. Or you could put a break point and look at call stack to see what calls that command. Just note that if game has DRM it may have measures against debuggers.     This kind of'ish fits your criteria, it's a company specializing in tentacle rape nukige. Protagonist joins the company and becomes sort of all-around helper. It's not very in-depth but the development process and product exhibitions, finding a publisher etc. is part of the story as it mostly takes place inside the company office. https://vndb.org/v4037 I'm not familiar with Shirobako so maybe this is not what you're looking for.

Protagonist's personality in most VN's is disgusting, they are like lobotomized robots slice of life or should i say meaningless conversations / activities in large amounts that only try to bring more length to VN without any plot or character building school setting, especially with drama over nothing like in princess evangile. It's just overused and boring theme if protagonist is a student (teacher protagonists only appear in nukige for some reason) VN with only stereotypical characters (monkey boy, tsundere,...) bad h-scenes compared to other scenes (really, in those cases they are just boring and should be omitted from the game but never by translator, only the developer)
  6. Kanjitomo works really well. It finds characters i failed to find with handwriting or jisho.
  7. What is the best way to look up unknown characters? They are in a picture with custom font (well in many pictures, it's a game after all), so OCR software fails to recognize them. Drawing them by hand rarely gives proper results. So i was thinking is there a database or something based on patterns in a kanji which allows multiple selections to rule out characters?
  8. Lucid dreams are cool, it's amazing feeling to be in control of the story. Some people can enter it at will, I've only got few by a chance.
  9. which patch did you use? I think you need to first apply the 2009 patch (amaterasu), and after that 2013 one (george henry) using the python scripts as guided in readme. I used those, and it was fully playable (this was on windows 7 or wine, can't remember which one)

  11. There are FLAG00..FLAGXX files in YU-NO dir, and they are modified as I play. I suspect modifying these are the key, and looking at TLwiki if each FLAG file corresponds to map screen, FLAG31 would be the right one. There is reference to C10_01.MES in it which is a script file in MES.ARC (C10_01.MSD after unpacking). Some command there must check the flag, i just don't understand enough how this script syntax works. Anyone familiar with these? EDIT: thanks to TLWiki's great YU-NO node graph I've pinpointed my save to be in node 31_02B, whereas the Storehouse is 32 and Well is 30. So maybe with some debugger support i'll be able to change the current location and golden key flag.
  12. I was playing YU-NO to about 55% completion and then made a mistake. I used golden key to open mansion sack house but then decided to go into woods instead of house. As a result i didn't have key in next playthrough and considering routes are long it's annoying to go get the key again. I rotate saves but this time saved too often so there was nothing useful available. Are there save editors or relatively painless way to edit YU-NO save file just enough so that key is available? Version is the one with TLWiki page.

  14. So they intentionally were ambiguous about the patch and lied the entire campaign to get some more sales. Pretty shitty move, considering you actually have to play the steam version before patch even works. Light is complete garbage;they had PR fiasco even during the kickstarter (something tapestry related iirc) and it just gets deeper with trust issues like these. Edit: The only hope now is the physical version. It's not like that's going to be a half assed patch right? Time to redeem yourself, Light!
  15. Not sure if there is a tag for this but are there any "xianxia" VNs? I don't know how well it would work, but something like Skyfire Avenue could work as VN. So I'm mainly looking for these qualities: Sects or factions power ranking (almost forgot: MC shouldn't be dense or self-deprecating like most JP MC's are) mandatory fighting tournament I don't miss weapon refining though, that wouldn't work in VN.

  17. I think A Profile is above average, so read it. Both games have sad moments, I think A Profile shows different life issues with each one being a route, crescendo is more romance oriented (iirc).

So I ended up with this build: AMD Ryzen 1700 Asus Prime B350+ Asus R9 285 Kingston HyperX 2x8GB I don't have nitpicks about the ryzen performance itself, but sudden restarts do happen 1-3 times per month (sometimes shows MCE on reboot, other times not). At least my ryzen doesn't suffer from segfault problem. Compared to spring 2017 these bugs are less frequent but still happens, I've yet to update motherboard to agesa 1.0.0.6b which should further workaround the (hardware?) bugs.
