Because taste is like cupcakes. Everyone's gotta spread theirs all around.

Oh yeah, I forgot about Pokemon Go. I thought the 'train' part was just a play on words. Man, this game is really stirring up some trouble. lol

Great art, and great taste in anime.

    This is from Kyousougiga btw.
Unfortunately, it's not as clever as you think it is. At least not in the US (land of the free and home of the world's worst drivers).

You could try Kuuchuu Buranko, it's a bit of a weird one but deals a fair amount with psychological issues which could be your cup of tea? Dunno, I enjoyed it. The mood isn't particularly serious though so maybe it's not what you're looking for.
How about Gankutsuou? It's based on The Count of Monte Cristo  and personally, was a bit too confusing for me to enjoy, but fits your criteria decently.
Another one would be Gosick. This one, again, I wasn't a fan of, but it was entertaining enough and even though I haven't watched Baccano I think it might have a similar feel to it.
Off topic, but, your signature made me laugh way more than it should have.

Off of this (and the fact that it seems we have very similar taste), I could highly recommend Kino's Journey. It's thought provoking, has Dystopianish settings, and social commentary. Its about this traveler who visits different cities, and has a rule not to stay in any one place longer than three days. Needless to say, each place that Kino visits is unique and interesting because each city showcases a philosophical theme in their respective cultures.

If I can recommend only one anime it would be Full Metal Alchemist Brotherhood.

Lucius got a reaction from Onodera Punpun in Anyone else wish/hope more visual novels have a route style more similar to Sharin no Kuni?
Yeah, I'm a branch-man myself. I like myself some nonlinear branching storyline. Gives me a sense of variety, even if it's an illusion.
I do agree, however, that noncanonical routes can end in some pretty terrible ways for some VNs - like Key's Kanon, where the girls meet tragic endings if you don't go into their route and 'solve' their problems. It was never specified, but the implications of so are very obvious.
As for the Sharin kind of route system, I haven't read it, but that kind of chapter system does sound kinda redundant, considering that I might as well be playing reading a kinetic novel. G-senjou no Maou reminds me a lot of that system. Sure, it's got a set of binary choices every now and then, but it's basically a chapter-by-chapter kind of story where you pick a different option to go into a different route, and pick one more for a bad end or a good end. Same with Grisaia no Kajitsu. That kind of route system isn't particularly my favorite as it makes the whole 'choosing' thing seems kinda redundant. Of course I would be picking the 'other' option after seeing the bad end. Unless you have a lot of choices that make my conversation with the girls seem more natural, I find the whole binary-system just pointless in practice.
In contrast, take a look at School Days and Clannad. Both have wonderfully designed systems where the possibilities are endless. It feels more realistic when your choices matter, like you're actually talking to these people, and dispels the feeling of reading something. Fate/Stay Night's bad end system is also somewhat worth mentioning with its large number of meaningful choices.
At the end of the day, giving a stupid dilemma just for the sake of choosing something can be insulting to my intelligence, like Analogue: A Hate Story with its forced option of trusting a criminal or be thrust into game over. Why don't you just not give me the option to game over in the first place then? Seems kinda dumb.

About sums up the ignorant folks who throw about the words. trust me most guys i know are normies who haven't watched anime but use the word because 'that's what you are'. the normal non-anime watcher mentality is that anime is 'cartoons' so we're all 'kids'. it's easy to ignore at first but the deeper your love of anime and japan related content gets the more annoying it becomes. like an itch you can't scratch because theres always that one guy who doesn't want to be reasonable.

A discriminatory word that fucking normies use to classify all forms of Otaku from slight to full blown obsessed. the same way people assume that every Muslim is a terrorist which isn't so.

Nutaku wants to emulate the Steam model.  That means not picking and choosing titles based on production values, review scores, or other (often arbitrary) metrics.  Compare that to the traditional retail model, where stores only stock games they think will do well.  That same model is systematically suppressing eroge and other niche games.
My problem with Nutaku's effort here is that they're excluding games that have offensive content they don't want to deal with.  That compromises the model's premise.

I really like euphoria's interface system. It's probably one of the most user-friendly interfaces I've ever seen in VNs:
The auto-mode doesn't skip over voices and yet doesn't lag behind when the voice acting is over (immediately moving onto the next line, unlike Umineko which has no pause between each voiced-line in auto-mode it becomes unnatural, or G-senjou no Maou when there's sometimes weird awkward pauses after a voiced line is finished).
There's a warning that tells you that the next line is a voiced line so you wouldn't skip over any voiced lines you're currently listening to. For example, if I am currently listening to a voiced line and I hit 'Enter' without knowing it's finished playing or not (since some voice-acting has awkward pauses before a voiced line is finished), and the next line contains voice acting, it will replace the one I'm currently listening to, so this feature helps to prevent that.
Best of all, and definitely a must-have for all eroges, hitting 'Esc' minimizes the game and turns off all sounds of the game you might be embarrassed about. lol No more fear for barging relatives who look at you with a disappointed face...
I wish most visual novels contain an interface like this. A lot of them have problems with the playing of the voices, resulting in pauses or skips in-between.
It's interesting how controversial eroges have better game-designs than non-eroges (as far as the English-translated ones go anyway). For example, School Days, which contains a massive amount of branches and animated dialogue scenes, something you don't usually see in VNs (aside from the Oscar-winning exception of Key games with their massive branches, particularly Clannad). Then again, I heard that most h-game designers were forced to make them out of a need for money, so they might have seized the opportunity to place their focus on creating better game-design since they have no interest in the sex stuff they're forced to create.
