Yup. There was a 'proper review' as somebody called it on reddit, of MuvLuv Alternative and it was pinpointing every single flaw and plothole and stupidity. It was entertaining it as hilarious, and he was right. I still love MLA though.
And same here. This vide made me laugh. I acknowledge that MLU have a lot of stupid bullshit, but I still liked it. -

But VNs are like, 60-80% 'dating sims'. So if you're going to introduce somebody to it, why not start with something as typical, and easy accesbible at the same time, as possible? Katawa fits perfectly.

Nope. Or maybe I'm biased, because I did read Katawa as my first VN. But I came back after reading 20+ titles. And I was surpriused how good it holds, how nicely it's written, how not insulting with dumbness it is, etc. It's a good VN on it's own.

Lol, I had no idea what vndb is at that time, so long time ago.
It's also worth mentioning that english chapter 1 is only a half of japanesse chapter 1. So there might be cliffhangers. -
Both eden and ef had a lot of 'feels', but it was almost obvious that there will be a lot of emotions basing on premise alone. Here I see nothing of that. It looks like lighthearded story with magic. But it's Minori, so it will be as beautiful and visually pleasing as VNs can get. Without shitty e-mote, but with a lot of movement that looks simply nice.
I'm interested in this, but I don't like reading chaptered stories not all at once. So I'll wait. But I'm interested in opinions as well.

Katawa is a mixture of typical for VNs school setting, route system with one girl romance for each route with western patterns of behaviour in characters.
It's also not bad at all, have interesting characters, nice premise, some routes are really interesting, homour works, have a lot of 'feels', and it's just an easy reading.
People who do not 'live' in ocean of anime and mangas (like me) could bounce off the wall builded by silly characters, lolis, moe girls, typical japanesse jokes and quirks, and sudden, unrealistic h scenes that are common in japanesse VNs. Katawa have very little of this, so it's much easier for western people to get into visual novels through KS. Even h scenes are much more 'grounded', 'westerny' and simply more realistic and therefore - much better than 95% of h scenes in japan VNs.
I started with KS so I can say - it works. Then I went for Yume Miru Kursui and bounced off heavily. Fortunatelly G-Maou and S;G pulled me back to the world of VNs.- akaritan, mitchhamilton and Khazit

They remade maid sprites. I mean - she looks much, much prettier in new ones, but what's the point? Half of her 'charm' was that she's not a typical beauty, she doesn't looks very young, she's different. But here we have another pretty, young girl, just like Pauline or Nellie.

Premise:SpoilerA neuroscience × genetics × near-future sci-fi visual novel adventure game.
In 2030, due to Japan’s advancements in neuroscience, memories can now be saved and recorded. This is called e-Memory.
However, due to the rapid increase in the number of crimes using the e-Memory technology, the government has introduced strict regulations on human memory data.
In essence, the government now holds a monopoly on all human memory data.
The recording of still-living humans was forbidden, and the e-Memory technology was only to be used on the deceased, giving rise to the establishment of "Connect Centers." These state-owned and operated facilities allowed one to call and communicate with the dead.
These "Connect Centers" allowed people who were still in a period of bereavement to cope with their loss by talking with their recently deceased loved ones.
The protagonist, Kusuhara Hiroki, is a college student struggling with suicidal impulses after the sudden passing of his close childhood friend, Mizunashi Sorano.
Her memories were to last only until August 26—a mere four more days. Kusuhara teams up with his friend, Amamiya Kakeru, in an attempt to steal Mizunashi Sorano's memories from the server where they were stored.

Tsukihime is pretty horrorish at times, but, especially in one route, is really 'psychological', so it should b fine for you.

Answering your question... From translated VNs, the 'ultimate', in my opinion, VN horror story would be Phenomeno. Around hour of reading, but great atmosphere and pretty nice scares here. -

Started Period. I'm after common route.
There is 8 heroines with their routes, common route in very fast reading took me 4 hours (only one variant of common route, depending on choices it will be around 5-6 hours), and vndb is providig that this title is 10-30.
Those routes will be (in average) max 3h long. This can't be any deep.
...but it doesn't need to be. This game is SO RIDICULOUSLY CUTE, (without being moe at all!), like nothing I ever encountered. Sooo smiliebringing atmosphere, nice cast, great art and technical aspects, and not insulting "story". Peacefull, nice, warm title. :))))
Aoi, tomboy character is going into my 'waifu pantheon'. No-nonense, active, no embarassment (DO NOT ruin it, h scenes, please!), funny girl, with great chemistry betwen her and protag. So much fun to read their scenes together.
(of course, as alawys, there is one annoying character, tsun'ish, strict'ish, obnoxious and positioning everybody, childhood friend of protag. And she's "true" route of this game. D; Such a shame.)- Canicheslayer, SaintOfVoid and XReaper

Anyway I don't intend to play it ever, so yeah. 
Also - sometimes I envy people who do not see flaws as painfully often as I do. I imagine your life must be much, much more easier, especially in aspect of enjoyment of entertainment. -

- Cartagra. Perfect ost, made like 70% of atmosphere. 30% was art, but unfortunatelly almost everything else suxx.
What VN is the most unique looking?
- Probably I/O, but that is not necessary a good thing.
What VN has the best art or art style?
- Kara no Shoujo 2, hands down.
What VN has the best sound or atmospheric sounds?
- Phenomeno.
Best characters?
- As a team - Majikoi.
Best choices?
- As in choice system, Steins;Gate. If only this true end had been more achievable without guide...
The best chemistry between characters?
- Majikoi and MuvLuv. I just love big group of characters playing off each other.
Best story?
- Steins;Gate and Muv Luv Trilogy. Hard to choose, both are great, but completly diferent.What the best VN series?
- Kara no Shoujo. Only two games, but I love them.And vice versa?
Music:
- Tsukihime. It wasn't awful, some of songs were fine, but endless loop of only few songs really was getting on my nerves.
Unique Look:
- Most of the moege released after 2011. They all look the same.
Art style:
- Tsukihime. Godddamn awful. (I haven't read anything from 07th Expansion). Also Killer Queen.
Sound:
- Homeless School Girl. Terribly amateurish, non edited sound effects.
Characters:
- Sharin no Kuni/Grisaia. Both had only one enjoyable character (Mana in SnK, Makina in G), but Grisaia presented me later that even annoying stupid as fuck tsundere can be enjoyable, so vote for Sharin no Kuni. Absolute garbage and worst VN ever made.
Choices system:
- I/O. There are worst vns for sure, but system in here with constant backtracing to previously read routes was annoying.
Chemistry:
- Killer QUeen. No chemistry at all, romance so forced, that it was almost cringeworthy.
Story:
- Sharin no Kuni. No rival here. Nothing can be compared to this ultimate accumulation of bullshit ideas, stupid plot farts and idiotic behavours.
Series:
- I've read only First main game and one mini one, but I wil say - Grisaia. I hate the main writter, he really don't know how to write an interestingly (especialy that his stories/settings/ideas are interesting 'on paper', they just so poorly written, all enjoyment is gone), and I know hes the main writter for Grisaia 2 and solo writter of Grisaia 3 and damn sure it will be pure crapfest. Can't wait for release.
But so far only one VN I can say was perfect - Stein;s Gate. Pure 10/10. -
As in title. VNDB only provides info on translation groups/companies. Is there any blog/wiki/site, that provides info (even if it's dated and not updated for a long time) about who translated what?
F.E. Himawari was transalted by Conjueror + Gare, but vndb provides only the company name, 'MangaGamer'.
So, yeah, is there anything like that? -

Altered Fable have main vn story + some strategic game + few extras.
One of the Photons contains that VN story from Altered Fable + few other scenarios from different fandiscs and spinoffs. So yeah, 'meat' from Altered Fable will be transalted and released. ^^ But Photons are basically PS3 destined fandisc compilations. So they're without H content. Will see how it will go, I believe evan on stream from 'muv luv release party'* said that they will try to do something about it.

What do you mean by Kimi Eizen(sp)? If you're asking about Kimi ga Nozomu Eien, then answer is yes - evan is working on that in his spare time, and it was officialy announced few weeks ago at Anime Expo. It was just said that they will officialy release localized version of it, but nothing more besides that, no details, no nothing.
