  1. Suddenly, you increased my level of hype for this VN.
  2. To be honest, I doubt anyone will be able to help you basing on just that information. It literally can be anything. It may be Windows installing some important update, but, just in case, try checking for viruses if you still haven't done so. Other than that... Maybe, try keeping the Task Manager open, and when it happens again notice which apps use the CP and the disk the most.
  3. I wouldn't talk like that before it's out. Even if the translation is great, there are still plenty of places to fuck up.
  4. It seems to depend on a board where you are creating your thread. For me, it doesn't appear in "General discussion", but does appear in "Visual Novel Talk". Edit. Ooops, didn't notice it was already mentioned. Never mind then.
  5. By the way, Rakuen has a linear story with only one route, right?
  6. Well, economist say that more competition means better quality, right? Right?
  7. Well, it doesn't look like something I would enjoy... I may give it a try at some point, though probably not soon.
  8. Yeah, thanks for pointing out my mistake. I don't know where I got that phrase. Well, I have little experience in expressing my thoughts in English, and fails like that are unavoidable. Edit. By the way, "blown away" was not what I was try trying to say. More or less, the opposite.
  9. Well, to be honest, it's a bit hard to do. I do try to be as open-minded as I can when I start things, but as long as I know at least something about a VN I try, there will still be some expectations, good or bad. I guess, maybe it just comes naturally when my expectations aren't met too many times. (edit: sorry) Actually, it's works more or less in the opposite way for me. I like to analyze things I read, and it often helps me notice some good points about them I would've missed otherwise. And as long as there are many such good things in a VN, it's much easier to forgive its flaws. Also, the things I described started happening to me long after I created a vndb account and started rating VNs.
  10. I have a feeling that a giant misunderstanding occurred at some level... Edit. Or maybe it's really fake.
  11. Well, that route took small parts and different revelations from different routes, so it still won't be completely new. Also, I think they fully adapted the first half of Lucia's route. Other than that, yeah, you won't fully know what will happen.
  12. Also, did you watch both seasons of the anime, or just the first season? The first season was based on a completely new route, which wasn't originally in the VN. The second season was based on the VN's true routes.
  13. Actually, if you already watched the anime, there's a good chance that you won't enjoy the VN. The anime was incomprehensible garbage, but it spoiled a lot of twists in the VN. By the way, when I said in my last post that the choices make sense, I meant that you don't have to start hanging out with one girl to turn her down later, only because that the only way to enter some other girl's route (I'm looking at you, Clannad). Yeah, a lot of time you have to follow girls around. If you have a problem with that, just use the walkthrough. Actually, I don't think that most choices even matter. I think, there are several events required for entering Kotori's route, several events for Chihaya's and etc. Also, it's true that some of the routes are locked on the first walkthrough. Also, it might be a good idea to start with Kotori's route. Though, if you already watched the anime, it doesn't matter that much.
  14. Yeah, it's one of the bad endings. Basically, you get that ending if you didn't make correct choices to enter any of the heroines' routes. Just replay from the beginning and try different choices. You probably won't even need a walkthrough. In contrast to the other games by Key, the choices in Rewrite actually make sense. Just try to spend a lot of time with one heroine and, perhaps, avoid other heroines.
  15. Lol. I remember I actually managed to win in it a few times when I was playing. I still don't understand how it happened.
  16. So, there actually is a person like that? Can't say I'm surprised. Anyway, I always leave music on. Well, I think I would turn it off if it irritated me too much, but to this point I'm pretty sure I didn't have to do it even once. Actually, for me music is one of the best ways to set the mood for a scene, and, I believe, VNs are the only form of written media that actually do it. I guess, in the end the fact that they do that is one of the reasons I even read VNs in the first place. Also, music is the only reason while I'm hyped for Hapymaher, even though the art makes it seem like another moe crap.
  17. To be honest, I wrote this point just several minutes after I finished that route, and maybe I overreacted a bit there. Anyway, it's not like it was entirely Himawari's point that I started to think about dropping VNs. It's more like, finding good VNs to read became a bit too difficult recently, and I'm not sure at what point it becomes just not worth it anymore. Like when I just started, I could just take a random high-rated VN often mentioned in reviews, and I was almost guarantied to like it, at least to some extend. For some reason, I managed to like VNs for that is good in them and almost completely overlook their flaws. There still were some VNs I didn't really like (mostly, less popular ones), but I always could just drop them at the very beginning and move to something else. Then, at some point, about a year and a half ago, it just stopped. Suddenly, for almost every VN I played I could say "There were some great moments in it, but ... completely ruins it", or "I liked it overall, but there were some aspects that lowered my overall enjoyment quite a bit". For example, I liked very much how Ever 17 handled mystery, and I had very good time trying to add all things together. On the other hand, I couldn't care less for it's characters, and the final revelation turned out to be so little thought-out, that it dropped my overall mark by 2 points. It all got a bit tiring, and the thought that maybe my time with VNs is coming to its end started to appear in my mind from time to time. Then for a few months I just didn't have enough free time to read VNs anymore. When I came back, I tried Fata Morgana, and suddenly I was engaged again. And though it wasn't perfect, I managed to overlook it's flaws and get the full enjoyment of the things it does right. The same thing with Pygmalion, though it's actually even more flawed than Fata Morgana (like, 20 times so). Then I tried Himawari, and suddenly I'm where I started. Overall, I can't say I hate it, or this is a bad VN. There are some things it does quite well, and the overall idea is quite good. Just, I cannot connect to the most characters, especially to the protagonist, and the number of plotholes makes it almost impossible to enjoy it to fullest extend. The worst part of it, though, is that I start to compare Himawari to some VNs I read earlier... and I don't see how they are better. It's not a very healthy thought, because it makes me wonder whether those VNs were actually as good as I remember, and maybe my tastes are just changing with time. Maybe you're right @akaritan and I just need to stay away from VNs for some time. I'll probably try to get through some works in other media that I wanted to try. Anyway, thanks for your advice! I'm stalling Himawari for an indefinite amount of time. I'm not dropping it, however. I still want to give it a second try, at some point of time. I had a single precedent when I suddenly started to like a VN long time after finishing it, even though I fully hated it the first time. I am still going to at least finish it, but I won't touch it at least before the middle of this summer. And I'm sticking to VNs with good protagonists from now on. @littleshogun Yeah, thanks, but I tried both, though I haven't finished them. Actually, I'm a big fan of Higurashi and Umineko. Though, in case of Higanbana, I just couldn't make myself care about it, and dropped it on the third chapter. As for RGD... I played first two seasons when they the only ones available in English, but never got in the mood to finish it later. @Funyarinpa Thanks, but I already finished it. @Vorathiel I'm pretty sure Moogy wrote something somewhere... Though I don't have a link, sorry.
  18. I finished the Aqua's route in Himawari, and, let me say it straight, I didn't like it. At all. The truth is however, that I can't pinpoint what exactly I didn't like. There are still things like unrealistic characters and completely nonsensical setting, but, let's be honest, almost every VN has both, and we still like them. This time however... I saw exactly which emotion every scene supposed to bring, but they just didn't work. The reason, most likely, is that I failed to connect to any of the characters in the Common route, and it worked in that way. Though I have a feeling that maybe I should've stalled this VN before I had more time to spend on it and read the route in one go instead of stretching it to several weeks. I don't know if I'm going to continue this VN right now. Actually, this VN made me seriously consider dropping the VN medium altogether. My next VN needs to be a complete masterpiece, or I might actually do it, you know.
  19. Yeah, visuals for this VN are just stunning. Definitely my favorite between the ones I tried thus far, non other come even close. I actually started disliking visuals for some other VNs I was okay with before I finished this.
  20. Actually, it's better not to discuss the game or look up any information about it before you finish it. It's incredibly easy to spoil it. Like, in my case a small spoiler actually lead me to revealing almost everything before it was indented. Edit. By the way, this doesn't directly connect to your question, just a general advice. So, yeah, just keep reading and try not to spoil too much.
  21. Small correction: that choice was not the first.
  22. Well, The House in Fata Morgana has a lot of unconventional romances, in one way or another.
  23. Just in case you didn't know, there is a tag on vndb.
