  1. Ignoring all joke endings I would choose Umineko
  2. If you can read Japanese you might as well try https://vndb.org/v7650
  3. Favorite vn: Umineko Favorite route: Dies Irae - Marie's and Rea's routes. Favorite loli: Illyia Favorite kyonyuu: Marie - DI Favorite best girl: Kurisu - Steins;Gate Favorite art style: Morgana Favorite genre of vn: kamige XD Favorite "dere" type: yandere Favorite non- canon pairing: MC and Morgana - The House of Fata Morgana Favorite side character: Archer Favorite best boy: Mercurius Favorite translation: Steins;Gate Favorite OELVN: The Letter Favorite waifu: Marie Favorite imouto: Illyia As for the lest the answer is none
  4. Well, Chaos and Steins shouldn't be grouped in the same way. S;G 0 is more of a side story than a sequel and is more similar in nature to F/HA (even though F/HA is a fandisk) F/HA on the other hand, at least deserves a mention. It is true, that it is a Fandisk and requires original game, BUT this is a list of top 50 translated VNs and not top 50 translated original games. And F/HA is just that good. As for Guilty Crow. https://vndb.org/v7402
  5. Let me see: Steins;Gate 0 - original has Steins;Gate, so not sure if we can count it, but will add it just in case. Chaos;Child - it has English version, and PC patch should be released soon. Fate/Hollow Ataraxia - probably the best translated fandisk. Grisaia series - at least I don't see it in any list so far. Root Double Guilty Crown Lost Christmas - Phenomeno made it to the original list and it was an adaptation of LN. This one is the prequel to anime (much like Fate/Zero to Fate franchise). It was released by Nitroplus and contains original GC soundtrack aka one of the best soundtrack in anime industry. Here is a demo I found on youtube:
  6. From my point of view, the list belongs to the one who actually added it to the post It is much easier to refer to it that way. Btw, have the remaining 20 spots been decided? If not, might I be able to suggest a few VNs? I assume that only those not mentioned in original top 50 list count
  7. I think you should edit "when they cry" section a bit. First, I would recommend to list all VNs that belong to these series. Reasoning: if someone actually uses your list they will most likely ether have read these series or be a noobie. New people would like to know such things. Furthermore, if you were a new reader would you pick something that would have been listed as 150+ hours long? Oh, one more thing. If I were you I would split it into Higurashi and Umineko and list approximate length of each story
  8. Those 2 as well. I am not sure if I added Inganock to my VNDB yet though.
  9. I have already finished most of the stuff you recommended. Though I was greatly interested in Kara no Shoujo series, but was pretty much completely spoiled about part 2. Knowing that ending, I lost all wish to read it. As for Infinity series, what else besides Ever 17 belongs to it? Read part 1 of Danganronpa. Didn't leave me very impressed.. I heard that Sky and Force are equally good in terms of gaming, but don't know anything about story. I tend to avoid VNs with gaming overall. I already mentioned in this post, but I didn't really enjoy Danganronpa that much and was greatly spoiled about KnS. The problem is that I have sort of addiction to reading AND I know how running out of what to read means. Besides VNs I have read over 300 different manga and 300 different Chinese, Japanese and Korean novels. I literally have nothing to read. Btw. Is there any particular reason why you recommend Nanairo before Akeiro? Read both ages ago
  10. To put it simply, I am not sure what I want to read next. I just finished Shinigami no Testament, Ayakashibito (to much h-scenes), Evolimit and Baldr Sky Dive 1/2 in row. Baldr was so good that it left a hole that needs to be filled. I tried my best to come up with any conditions and here they are: * I DO NOT want pure SLO. I would have read Clannad or Little Buster otherwise. * Fantasy, Sci-fi, Horror or Detective type story please. *VN with an actual plot.
  11. To be perfectly honest, I was in the same situation as you. I constantly found it mentioned with a high rating, amazing VN etc. So much wasted potential. For example, entire idea of classes was obsolete... The best moment was probably the last song. I think it was called Run or something like that
  12. Updating this type of list should be a pain... I agree with those who talked about alternative list. For example, 50 translated VNs you need to read before you die v2 (2013-2017 edition) A few great suggestions could be Subihibi and Dies Irae
  13. For some reason I sincerely doubt that 2x 50+ hours vns could take you only 60 hours in total
  14. Hmm... I would suggest Tokyo Babel. It is the closest thing to DI I know in terms of characters power scale... I would describe as much much better version of Ayakashibito and without h-scenes (which Ayakashibito was full of). Next suggestions, Umineko. I personally consider it to be the best VN out there. Even if you don't like, it is a legend for a reason (plus it will take you about 150 hours to finish it aka a lot of reading). People already recommended Fate/Stay Night, so I merely join that group.
  15. I don't think so. Dies Irae, Eden*, Tokyo Babel are still listed as untranslated, though they have been translated a while ago. I personally recommend those in this list, because they are really good. In addition, Fata morgana no Yakata and Umineko no Naku Koro ni
  16. Just realized that original English VNs can actually be pretty good. I just had to drop this:
  17. Hey. I am not sure where to post, so I will drop it here. I recently started working on Dies Irae artwork/desktop/profile theme. I would like to ask for some help. Could someone help me with 2 things: 1. I need good quotes from DI vn. Something that could be added to the image. 2. Help me to find translation/English lyrics of Jubilus
  18. Hmmm... Hard choice. I would pick: 1 - Marie - goddess of the harem 2 - Lilith - because if you have goddess then you also need a demon 3 - Usami Haru - the detective 4 - Makise Kurisu - the scientist
  19. I once tried Extella, but wasn't as interested in it. As for KKK and PL, from what I know they are as hard as Dies Irae, therefore reading them in Japanese is way to difficult for me. It looks weird. Description is lacking as well, for now I will put it on hold, but most likely skip it. Actually I am way more interested in your signature. I remember seeing this angel like girl somewhere before, but can't remember where. Could you tell me where it is from? I finished Alternative a year ago. It was indeed good. So good that I finished 50+ hours vn in 3 days. Thanks. Your lists are impressive as ever. Anyway, just quick question. Which novel has the most Antihero and the most competent MC? Thanks, but I will only add Rose to the list. Princess looks plain weird and not up to my taste. From what I know Kikokugai has a lot of rape and I don't like that stuff. I was thinking about reading it a while ago, but heard that it contains netorare and tentacle rape. I dislike those things. Really ruins my reading experience. I had enough of reading about strange Japanese fetishes such as worm rape or alien tentacle brain rape (those who read it knows which VNs I mean) which nearly ruined great stories for me.
  20. To put it simply, Dies Irae ruined my VN playing experience...I can't find anything I like after playing that epic masterpiece. I know I want some good old fashion fighting. I loved Umineko due to real vs magic fight, Fate/Stay Night for ideals, Tokyo Babel because of all mythological stuff and Dies Irae...well for basically everything. After Dies Irae I tried Comyu...didn't like it. Can someone recommend me fighting VNs with any interesting backstory? I was thinking of retrying Shinigami no Testament, but am looking for better alternatives. Translation status does not matter, but would prefer something average or below average in terms of Japanese difficulty when it comes to untranslated VNs
  21. This time, I come on behalf of other friend. Seriously, I am getting tired of this. They all could create their own accounts instead of relying on me. Anyway, this time one of them wants to read something untranslated, but can't decide which VN to pick. His Japanese level should be similar to mine so about level of reading Grisaia, Eustia or Tokeijikake series. Also could you explain why would you pick that VNs? Baldr Sky Dive 1 and 2 Tokyo Necro Gekkou no Charnevale Sorcery Jokers
  22. I would list couple of reasons. It is obviously a way to distract attention from real life. It can be anything. From distraction of tired body after work, tired mind after studying or, which is probably the most important for anime/VN communities, a way to escape reality from the fact that, how would many VNs' protagonist would phrase, you are single for as many years as you are alive... Personally, I like to read. I have read over 300 novels and web novels and over 50 VNs. I especially like Asian writing styles. Most of popular western literature is ether badly written copy paste of females dream realization or just plainly hard to remember due to sheer number of characters and boringly written events. Of course, most of Japanese and Chinese VNs and LNs/WNs are the opposite, aka realization of males' dreams, but I consider those to be trash as well. But sometimes among all that trash one can find true gems. what I liked the most when it comes to VNs, is the ability to choose your story, the multi route connection and connection between music and scenes which helps to create exactly the atmosphere that authors wanted to create.
  23. I also recommend reverting back and finishing routes in this order Kasumi>Kei>Marie>Rea It is very important order if you want maximum experience from the game. Or should I say, in order not to ruin that experience. Also, DON'T SKIP ROUTES. Dies Irae is not something like Fate/Stay Night or other similar VNs. You need specific info from other routes or some parts will not make sense. As for heroines, personally I was not a fan of Kasumi or her route, but I am glad I finished it in the way it was recommended. To be perfectly honest, out of 4 main heroines, I liked Marie the most even though she wasn't written that well. Also, for me Rea as heroine dragged down her route, but route itself was EPIC.
  24. It is linear with single heroine/ending. As for how good it is, I gave it 9 I think. It does have one of the best soundtracks I have heard when playing VN.
