  1. Just finished SubaHibi and yeah, I liked it a lot. What surprised me a little was how "normal" the VN is in the sense that there is a coherent plot and way less artsy posing than I expected after what I read about the game beforehand. Occasionally there is an overly long tangent or some pretentious symbolism, but never to a degree that it hurts the overall experience. Also SubaHibi is one of the rare cases in Japanese media I consumed so far where I felt like the author actually did some research on the mental illnesses they wanted to portray. And it has one of the best soundtracks of any non-Key VN I've read so far, including one of the greatest stupid shenanigans songs ever, which is close to the last thing I expected to get out of it all: So after having finished almost every long VN on my must-read list, I decided to go for a change of pace and purchased a total of 14 promising looking short EVNs (plus one JVN) for a total of ~33€ in the recent VN-sale on Steam and which I'm probably going to read all over next few weeks.

  2. Hello, I'm attempting to translate some Tanuki Soft games, the game I'm testing right now is Shoukoujo. So far I've been able to extract all the files using Garbro and since the game reads files from folders inside the installation folder without needing to repackage them I've also been able to insert edited images. The problem I'm having is with the .bcs script files, I took a look at the script files from Hatsukoi by Rune and I noticed they seem to share the same engine, both games use .bcs script files and if I open the files on a hex editor they seem to have the same header. Given how Hatsukoi has a fan translation where the .bcs files were converted to plain text saved as .csv, I believe doing the same for the script files of Tanuki Soft games would allow me to translate them. My question is if there's anyone who can point me to where I could learn how to decrypt the .bcs files into plain text, maybe a way to reverse engineer the encryption given I have the original and decrypted files from the Hatsukoi patch, I would also like to know if there's anyone here from the Hatsukoi translation team, or anyone that knows what tools they could have used, that could maybe help me out. Thanks.

    What are you playing?

+ Scar of the Doll. I only picked The Agony because of reviews saying it was hilariously bad and it only being 0,49€ though, so that might be the one on the list you probably shouldn't check out.

  5. I thought I'd be the coronavirus that finally gets us, but now the e-mail server is going to beat it by a few weeks? How anticlimactic.

  6. I played Kanojo-tachi no Ryuugi... like most games by that company, the relationships are twisted and incestuous, with a lot of surprising drama despite many of the characters being mostly straightforward. Iinchou wa Shounin-sezu bored me to death... it was sort-of funny for the first part of the game, but the actual romantic portion is worse than most moege. H20 is pretty overrated... people kept trying to get me to play it, but I couldn't get into it.

  8. Here: https://mega.nz/#!4Lg3WCaQ!QDJhGXoo4qQIuwhxkR6XIbSqIxzS95028_yt79PXpkg I also included some script files for the Tanuki Soft game, you can see how similar they are, like the 5 separate numbers in the header and the repeating pairs of data like EB FB during the beginning, the only difference is the Tanuki Soft script starts with the string TSV as opposed to BCS like in Hatsukoi, yet the files themselves still are .bcs.

  9. Hey I'm new to this all decrypting business, but I have been trying to deal with .bcs files of RUNE games recently myself. The fact that there is a fan translation of one of their games gives me hope that my task is not insurmountable. But I have been hitting some bumps along the way. If you could link me to where I could download the original and the decrypted script of Hatsukoi I might be able to get a better understanding of whats going on there. Or at least narrow the possibilities.
