Mr Poltroon
I... honestly don't know what to call it. Anyways, I've finally run out of stuff to read, since I usually go with my gut when choosing visual novels. <-- Somewhere in that general direction you can find my VNDB list, so you can see what I've read. Everything and anything inside that list (no matter whether I've read it or not) means that I've already seen them and you don't need to suggest them. Any of the Key stuff, even if it isn't there, you don't need to suggest. Now here's some specifics on what I like and dislike, as well as what I'm looking for (examples in brackets): -I tend to enjoy Romance Visual novels (Key stuff). I enjoyed lot's of them, but sometimes it just doesn't click with me. (Da Capo and sequel, I've read/am reading both of them, and yet I seem to find them way too boring, even when I'm already in a route) -Fantasy is fine. -Action is passable, literally. (In both Rewrite and Fate/Stay Night, I skipped all the action sequences. In fact, I skipped the whole of Terra route in Rewrite, since I found it boring; however I read the whole of Grisaia no Kajitsu, which had some as well, if I'm not mistaken) -Dark stuff is not. I avoid bad ends like the plague and generally never unlock the bad ends in the visual novels I play. -I have no interest in sports. -Mystery is generally amazing. -Sci-fic tends to be good. Protagonist traits: -See Yamato from Majikoi, manipulative, cheater, and uses his brains. -See Yuuij from Grisaia. -See the protagonists from Sharin no Kuni and G-Senjou no Maou. These are my preferred protagonists, but these are not required. I can put up with most protagonists. I also prefer females. I can only read English (and Portuguese, but that's irrelevant). Suggest away! And ask me for more info if you feel it's necessary.

Mr Poltroon
Demonbane ? You said you like sci-fi...its have pretty awesome actions too. That one seems to have potential. And yes, Sci-fi tends to be good. But it's more that I haven't found a visual novel with sci-fi that I haven't enjoyed than that I actually enjoy Sci-fi by itself. If possible, more suggestions are welcome. I'd rather stack up on them now than have to go hunting every week.

But the story is pretty awesome IMO Canvas 2 Romance vn, I`m pretty fond of this because we can play as adult protag rather than some highschool boys. And some of routes just so cute. Yumina A decent vn IMO, with lots lots of gameplay and "That escalated quickly and WTF" moments There are some partial patches romances vns. such as Forterial Yoake
Snowtsuku
Symphonic Rain, because I can. Romance, a little fantasy. No action. Starts like your typical moege but the ending is nice. You also play the female perspective after the three routes.

Mr Poltroon
if you can read Japanese, or are okay with a machine... Robotic;notes http://vndb.org/v5883 I had hoped that people would notice from my list that they're all english translated, but in the end, it's my fault for not making it clear. I'm afraid I can't read Japanese.
Narcosis
http://vndb.org/v1377 You should love this visual novel, as long as you don't mind older games. It's definately worth it, though.
Life
Maybe try Ef: A tale of the two. It's pretty short but Planetarian may also be good.

Is that so..? I had heard of this visual novel, but I was under the impression that it was something like I/O revision II. BTW, what genre is I/O from? Because I find it ultimately boring, and I think I shoild put that in the OP. Maybe try Ef: A tale of the two. It's pretty short but Planetarian may also be good. VV Any of the Key stuff, even if it isn't there, you don't need to suggest. Also, take no offense when I essentially say "Y U NO PAY ATTENTION, U MUPPET" when I correct the suggestions. I don't actually mean for them to be taken that way Also, adding another condition, licensed games are good and all, but I don't have a budget to go on a rampage at the moment. Since I've already got plenty of suggestions on that front, I'd prefer if the suggestions were games not available for sale in English. Kimanor
Maybe try Ef: A tale of the two. I can vouch for Ef. I'm playing it right now and I am enjoying it. Even if romance is not your cup of tea, Ef is pretty good in the mystery area too.

Albedo
Second YU-NO, it's old and sometimes it shows (there's this sequence where you have to click over 50 times to proceed... ah, old school adventure games) but the plot is great. Mystery, for 3/4 of it. Then, you get an epilogue where the author explains everything. Doesn't resemble I/O at all, imo. Also, Aselia's plot is pretty good too. Mr Poltroon
Doesn't resemble I/O at all, imo. Thank you for the clarification. In which case, I'd assume you've played I/O? What genre is it from?
Albedo
Thank you for the clarification. In which case, I'd assume you've played I/O? What genre is it from? Weird ass sci-fi? Sorta like Ever 17 and Remember 11, anyway.
BookwormOtaku
I've got a few mystery games you might like: Eve: Burst Error's good all in all even if the translation isn't. It's not engrish, but you can tell the translators at the time were just inserting their own jokes to cover what was probably too difficult for them to translate: http://vndb.org/v147 Chan The Lost Footprints is a short but all around good little read even if it is linear: http://vndb.org/v121 Divi-Dead is a bit more horror than mystery, but the story is a good one (though in the truer ending you really need to pay attention to fully understand the ending). For some reason the map is untranslated, but there is a translated one for reference on gamefaqs http://tss.asenheim.org/index.php For romance I recommend the following: Yume Miru Kusuri: http://vndb.org/v44 Private Nurse (has some light fantasy elements, especially in Maria's route): http://vndb.org/v64 And for fantasy, I recommend Princess Waltz: http://vndb.org/v156
Zodai
My gut tells me you would love Umineko. It's 'licensed' in the way that it's on MangaGamer, but it's also on Fuwa. I'm not really sure how else to advance after that other than a baseless statement that this is very well the holy grail of mystery in terms of VNs. I may be completely wrong, but anyway. Go play it. Excuse me for my temporary lack of communication abilities.
Zalor
Look's like you have finally hit the rut that every western VN fan is condemned to hit, running out of good VNs to read... I looked up your name on VNDB and of the VNs you haven't already read that I can recommend are Dysfunctional Systems (arguably the best OELVN), and Quartett. Dysfunctional Systems being Sci-Fi, and Quartett for romance (kind of). Quartett also has a very interesting visual presentation. Also, I haven't read this myself yet, but Shikkoku no Sharnoth is supposed to be a good mystery VN. However, If you like VNs enough I highly recommend starting to learn some Japanese. One of the great things about Fuwa is that there is a good amount of people here learning Japanese, so overall it's a very encouraging environment for learning the language. In fact it's because of Fuwa that I finally felt encouraged to start learning the language. It's a rough journey, but it is thanks to this site that I realized that it's possible. Mr Poltroon
In general, I'd say that it would save everyone some trouble if you lads were to read what I type. I even made it bold, you muppets. Any of the Key stuff, even if it isn't there, you don't need to suggest.I can only read English (and Portuguese, but that's irrelevant) and the suggestions cannot be licensed visual novels. Well from your list, I see that you haven't read either Kanon or Clannad! If you enjoyed Air, then you'd definitely enjoy them. I've got a few mystery games you might like: Eve: Burst Error's good all in all even if the translation isn't. It's not engrish, but you can tell the translators at the time were just inserting their own jokes to cover what was probably too difficult for them to translate:http://vndb.org/v147 Chan The Lost Footprints is a short but all around good little read even if it is linear:http://vndb.org/v121 For romance I recommend the following: Yume Miru Kusuri:http://vndb.org/v44 Private Nurse (has some light fantasy elements, especially in Maria's route):http://vndb.org/v64 And for fantasy, I recommend Princess Waltz:http://vndb.org/v156 I appreciate the suggestions gentlemen, but it's a bit depressing for me to have this huge catalog of games which I'll only be able to play months from now, when my budget goes back to normal. Q_Q Romance/Supernatural/Kawaii females: 1. Dracu-riot 2. Amairo IsleNauts 3. Iroseka 4. Irohika 5. My girlfriend is the president 6. Hoshimemo There is many many more just ask if u need more...Also now you can read every VN in English even without en patch. Just search for Visual novel reader or ITH and Atlas I'm a bit too skeptical of that, so I'll pass on the Japanese titles, lad. While this would be wonderful, this is what's most likely to happen: -Begin studying Japanese; -Learn a lot of stuff and generally make progress; -Suddenly become too busy. As it happens, while for now I have an awful lot of free time, my work comes in bursts, and I literally can't spend my time in anything other than work when it does come, so I don't really have the conditions for a continued project like that. If you check my VNDB it will save you the trouble of typing posts which, although well-intentioned, won't help anyone ;P Thanks for all the suggestions. This has helped me decide some things for now. Further suggestions are welcomed, but I'll be good for a while now.
