I read the VN to do Kyou's route and watched the anime to actually see the big ending. Never finished Nagisa' route cause personally it bored me to death, making me easily drift off to sleep playing it on many occasions. Yeah, play your favorite waifu on the VN and watch the anime if you want to cry uncontrollably

For a VN that is mostly focused on drama, I drop it if the writing is bad, cause bad writing on a mostly text-based game is not good at all... It has to keep me relatively interested pretty much throughout the entire experience, especially during the character development. Yes, you know that feeling when you pick up a VN and you cannot stop reading for a few hours, even during the slice of life.

Wanko to Kurasou actually includes a built-in panic button if you enable that function. Just right-click and the window will appear as though it is not responding (looks like a black background that is shaded grey). Such innovation!

You talking about the stand alone or the mod? Cause I play the arma 2 OA with the mod. But yeah, my clan from another game convinced me to get this, and so far its been a blast. We even have our own server and stuff. I'm a noob and know nearly nothing about this game, but if you live in NA we can play together. Yes, doing Amane's route is in my queue... I've been enjoying it for the most part as well, but have been side-tracked by stuff like Nekopara and Wanko to Kurasou

The VN is the same as the anime with additional boring dialogue, slightly worse art, branching plots and sex scenes. If you REALLY liked a certain character and you want to romance/bone her, go right ahead. But the package as a whole is probably not worth your time, unless you enjoy slaving through a painfully average experience for a few hours.
