  1. Shame about SO5, was really hoping it would redeem the franchise.
  2. I tend to enjoy the underdogs of Youtube a bit more; something just more natural about how they behave. (though i still like Jim Sterling and a few others) One guy I think deserves more subs is SebastianSB - he mainly focuses on Dark Soul stuff and RPGs, but his commentary is fun to listen to, and feels genuine - even if his playstyle is a bit frustrating at times. (he's not exactly the sharpest tool in the shed at times)
  3. For some reason this episode popped into my head this morning and I can't get it out, lol... (even though I haven't seen it for at least 5 - 10 years )
  4. Pulled from wiki: While not a "direct" conversion, there is still a acceptable correlation. Look, as someone that dislikes reinvented conversations and settings during a localization - even I see this as splitting hairs. Anyone with a remote understanding of the Japanase language will know that a single word can have multiple meaning, depending on inflection and grammatical usage. Let me offer an example: In Fate/Stay Night, when Shirou meets Kotomi Kirei at the Mapu Tofu restaurant - all Kirei asks is "Tabaru?" and Shirou responds "Tabura janai!". A overly literal TL of that would be Kirei:"Eat?" Shirou:"No eat!" (at least based on my limited understanding of Japanese). It's something that needs to be modified to come across better in English - it works well in Japanese, and sounds good - but written in English it literally comes across as two cavemen~
  5. It's actually close to how I expressed myself with the gripes I had with Tokyo Babel. Though, I didn't use nearly as much sarcasm~ Even as a pariah that prefers more literal translations (legible, mind you), I see the change from "Idiot" to "Stupid" a good choice - it just rolls off the tongue better, and still manages to convey exactly what the original meaning can be (look up baka sometime) without reinvention. It kept the childish vibe it was meant to express, without sounding weird. If that's the method of the touch-ups, than I have no concerns. I'd only get annoyed with unique cultural references being removed/replaced (religions, class, etc). The world is bigger than the box a person sits in - and thus shouldn't be pandered overmuch. That, and I'm a weeb.
  6. No worries Don't think you can actually do Setsuna's end until afterwards. It's more of an 'alternate ending" - or that's the vibe I got from it. Simply a different path for those that might appreciate it.
  7. 1, Yes - though the change is near the end. (instead of something early-on and noticeable) 2. Falls under Lilith's route. 3. Possibly subjective, but I think most would agree Lillith's true end is considered the end of the story.
  8. A tone of voice and emotions inflected in auditory verbatim help immerse me in a story a great deal more then without. But it's merely a plus - i can live without, but def. a plus.
  9. Errr, I'll take this chance to use my right to remain silent Jokes (mostly) aside, I'm pretty open-minded - though I like them to have feminine features - a good example of "mannish" characters is Princess Waltz (still a decent VN). Beyond that, I tend to favor pale skin, with vibrant red hair. (it's likely my number one go-to in games that let you create a character).
  10. I can empathize for the team - but really it's par for the course. I mean, just look at pretty much any other project ever - eager people will be eager, often times taken too far, or with a utter lack of consideration/gratitude~ Another really good example of entitlement? Most Steam forums. Something that should be considered though, is that the noisiest, rudest ones are often the lurkers that never say anything any other time of the year.
  11. @ChaosRavenShould use a spoiler tag on that, just in case~
  12. This is one of those things I stand defiantly against the masses - people had the same gripe about Michuru's route near the end of GnK1. Sexuality IS a emotional experience, and some times it exists for comfort, and as a salve - not just pleasure and "fun". For example - and it might be tmi for some, but it adds weight to my stance - my exs father had passed away, and after the funeral we celebrated his life with a small party. Once everyone had left, she asked me to stay the night. Not because she was tastelessly hot and ready - but because she wanted comfort that words could not express. That aside, replying to your post prior to that: Shame on you for looking up spoilers Still, hope you end up enjoying HF. It's by far my favorite arc. I personally feel it builds up to a satisfying, emotional conclusion. (Sakura is not my favorite girl (though I also don't hate her like some do), but her story is by far the best). I wouldn't worry too much about Fate Hollow being too dark - it does have its moments, but it has a lot of laughs mixed in too.
  13. Whoa whoa whoa now - let's not wish for anything hasty Trails in the sky 1 and 2 are two of the best jrpgs I've ever had the pleasure to play through - I admit I prefer jap voices, but I'd gladly take english/no voices over the loss of such worls.
  14. There's something ironic about that, considering what Nasu has allowed Hiroshi Hiroyama (and later on SIlver Link) do to Illya over time~ Sure, its not H - but it sure cuts close. But I admit ignorance, I'm presuming Nasu is someone with a majority of control/power within typemoon.
  15. Agreed, One of my favorites. I admit I never got a chance to play that one yet - I have a ps3, just been too lazy to go to a store to buy the game What dp you find wrong with it?
  16. Xseed is actually pretty good about offering both, in many cases. (at the very least, I recall Akiba's Strip offering both). @Rooke Give enough time and material (assuming said material is not utterly wrong) you can get a rough grasp through osmosis. I wont pretend to claim I understand japanese jsut from what I've heard - but I do have a rough idea. As for my personal bias - I find the emotions absorbed in the words much more heartfelt and much less corny in japanese - but that just raises the opld sub versus dub argument.
  17. Well, that solves another mystery. Now to torture myself over what I should and should not spend my money on~
  18. Question for the Top Nep experts: is VII just being ironic? or are we missing the games after rebirth3?
  19. To the surprise of no one that knows me, I'd suggest Ayakashibito. It's a enjoyable ride and a story you can get invested in.
  20. Push hard enough though - and someone is bound to push back. But that's just me overthinking it
  21. I'll wait for the demo, but at a glance I'm really interested. (totallynotbiast)
  22. Even if you can't stand the guy, give this vid a watch if you can - it brings to light some interesting information, about how exactly so much shovelware seems to get through.
