Is like the VN doesn't know what to do with it's story." But it IS a comedy, that's not an excuse. It's not especially story-driven and you kinda should expect it not to be. I never recommend this VN to anyone who's not after lighthearted commedy or fanservice for the simple reason that, at the great majority of the time, it does not deliver plot in the seriousness one would generally expect (the wanko route was a pleasant surprise). In any case, you're basically condemning it for not corresponding an expectation you should not have in the first place. About the character clichés and the fights. I'll just say that it's kinda impossible to develop as many characters as this game has, and it still does a decent job considering its span. The fights could be better, but they do their job overall. In short, it's shortcomings are mediocre at most (note that's different than bad) but it's upsides are good if you play it for what it should be. That's why reviews and recommendations exist, so you can know what to expect in what is basically an investment of 30~40 hours of your time. I hope I didn't sound harsh or conceited, it's merely my opinion >.<

This VN is one of the main factors in driving me to learn japanese. I like dark settings, and a different protagonist seems good for a change of pace. Perhaps he is somewhat like Kurosu from Cross Channel, psychologically speaking?

Followed up by no critics and a pic, that's some sound argumenting skills right there pal. Could also be sarcasm on your part, but if so it certainly doesn't look like.

If I had to sum it up, it'd be something like Watch Dogs. Good, but waaay overhyped. MLA wasn't better than F/SN for me, for example, but you have to take in account whether you're a bigger fantasy or mecha fan, for example. I'm not saying this is better than that (way to many factors involved to make such a claim), but the only sure thing about it is that MLA is well deserving of it's score, but some fans try to argue it's the best VN ever.

Whoa there, getting a little worked up, are we? This is merely brainstorming, no need to be so technical about "precise knowledge". If a "bad" example contributes to give him a good idea, then that's that. Cross Channel is not a horrible example as it does approach the point K450 is trying to make, wich is "a fanstory that relates to memories". That aside, I don't mind correcting you, but you should know by now that this comunity is a rather friendly one, and I would rather it stayed that way if you'd only mince your words. I also don't mind being wrong. Convince me without that attitude and we'll get somewhere.

Normally, yes. But IMO Clannad really is one of the exceptions to this rule, the animation is better than the VN as you'll hardly miss anything important and, let's be honest here, the art of the VN is not very good.

By now, even if he releases it miraculously on a silver plate while donating all his money to charity I'd still think he is a jerk (I woundn't even play it). Not because of him quitting, but because of the way he speaks, trolling and insulting people. Surely something happened for him to be this defensive, but that does not justify treating everyone harshly since there are people who are only questioning his word back then and his actions now (politely). If he was like "I quit cuz I wanted to, end of the story" that'd be one thing, but this demeanor is just sad.

That's pretty much how I remember it too. Hope you can change his mind Okami, I can't really follow his logic. There problably is more to this than meets the eye.

I belive he changed his mind then, because he actually was looking for someone willing to continue the project as soon as he announced that he'd be quitting. I remember that much, shouldn't be too hard to find his post, but site's apparently on maintenance. I don't have the slightest ideia of what changed his mind, maybe the hate did? (And that was the case at the time, what you just told me just adds fuel to the fire actually)

He stopped supposedly because of uni, but also and "more importantly", bcuz he got a girlfriend. Thus, the hate is mostly because he got himself a life. Although it should be expected that fan translation may not meet its promises, I kinda see where some of the people judging him are coming from. It's not about promises, but the premise of his leave. He made a name for himself, built a community centered around his works and gained the trust of many people, only to betray their expectations. If this was a medical leave, a financial difficulty, an emotional break, SOMETHING that is not "my gf matters more" would be great. There are plenty of translators that cope perfectly well with uni and girlfriends, so no reason why he shouldn't. People can give me the usual "it's none of your business" or "it's his private live" or "he was doing it for free, stop complaining", but I'd still stick to this point of view mostly because I believe in something similar to what Meiya said to Takeru in Muv Luv Alter at some point of the game (if you haven't played don't open it) And that is that outstanding individuals are responsible for the expectations of those that had come to rely on him, even if this is unreasonable and/or unfair (correct me if I am wrong, but I think this was it). Anyways, I didn't really read anything from staircase subs, nor was I that interested in dracu-riot, but I think quitting is perfectly fine as long as there isn't a wrong reason for it (it doesn't even have to be a good one).

Am I the only one that dislikes Chitoge? She's not a bad person at all but... I feel Marika and Onodera are more honest to their feelings and deserve more for how they are devoted to Raku. Plus she's the wrong kind of tsundere. Anyways, Ruri is the best girl, but not for Raku, so I voted on Onodera. Marika is awesome though. (never mind that, I'm voting on Ruri after all)
