  1. As long as they're not tsunderes I love them (an example of a bad one would be Fumino from Mayoi Neko Overrun). I tend to prefer girls who liked the main character from before the game starts, and they usually fit the bill. I'll usually end up reading their route first if there's no enforced order.
  2. I can't believe they outdid unnecessarily angry Kirby.
  3. I've finished reading 3 routes in Yoakena, really enjoying it so far. The first thing would be to note that of the 5 routes translated, none of them have the awful tsundere/defrosting the ice queen nonsense so prevalent in romance stories. That is one hell of an achievement. I applaud whoever chose to translate these 5 routes over Freesia's, which I probably wouldn't read anyway. As it stands I plan to read all 5 translated routes. Despite liking Feena as a character, I wasn't too big on her route (which you're forced to do first). I'm not really a fan of "overcoming serious political issues that make a romance difficult". I don't mind adversity in general, I'm fine with seeing people overcome societal adversity for romance such as in incest stories (e.g. Yosuga no Sora and to a lesser extent Mai's route in this), just not big on Feena's kind of story. I liked Mia's route better, similar issues but far less problematic. The aforementioned Mai route was also nice. Will probably read Natsuki's next. A general comment I'll make about the routes is the romance felt pretty natural. None of it really seemed forced or rushed, despite the routes themselves not being too long. By the time the common route ends (the beach, I tested this/got the pretty fun bad ending), the main character is already fairly close to the girl who's route you've entered, and it progresses from there. Not an unusual way of doing things, but it's well executed here.
  4. Same. I have Uni exams throughout November, but I'll be interested in it after that.
  5. Even in Mayucchi's fairly pleasant route Miyako's sadness bothered me. I feel it would be even worse in the others.
  6. I actually didn't read Michiru's route because I adore silly Michiru, and didn't wanna ruin that with srs Michiru. So most of this is actually new to me. I'll end up watching the entire thing either way, but it would be nice if they didn't try and adapt full routes in 2 episodes. With 13 episodes the logical thing to do would be a full common route adaption. Below that would be adapting one route. At the bottom would be rushing routes to try and shoehorn everything in. I really hope it ends up ok. Yeah I wasn't affected at all even though it was my first time. I did enjoy seeing this for the first time though:
  7. Started Yoakena. I'm not big on it forcing you to read Feena's route first, but the characters are more pleasant than in Hoshizora so it's fine I guess.
  8. Grisaia. All I had heard going in was that it was a psychological story, naturally I did not expect one of the funniest common routes ever. I read Killer Queen more recently and really liked it, and while I was pleasantly surprised by a few things there was nothing in it that really caught me off guard.
  9. I think the anime left this out in regards to Yuuji's autopilot?
  10. I read this on iPod, so I dunno the deal about it on PC. Despite having no voices or character sprites, the main story really drew me in. Once you finish the main story there are a bunch of bonus ones afterwards that can be amusing and silly, but I didn't find them anywhere near as good. Also this is interesting in that
  11. Do note the incest route in Hoshimemo is locked, you have to finish another one first. Then again so is Yosuga no Sora's, VNs really like making you work for your incest huh.
  12. I got you covered brah. Quality wise it's hard to compete with Grisaia, but it's pretty easy to meet those general requirements. Katawa Shoujo (not sure if you've read this) Crescendo Hoshimemo (You'll probably like this more than me, tsunderes and shit) Shinigami no Kiss Family Project Osanadai Otoboku (if you want a trap protag) Shuffle
  13. Not a picture but: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lGJL_sQTZOE
  14. I found the phone version of Kira Kira ok. Served me well on my regular train rides and such. I didn't like her either. I was planning to read her route first to unlock the sister's route, but I didn't even make it through the common route. Izusu was one of the main reasons for that. Finished ep 2 of Killer Queen. Overall I liked the game. The FSN style episodes worked pretty well.
  15. I'm not too big on Yumiko, but her route was alright. Plus if this means we get the:
  16. Nichijou A single guy (Hyadain) did both the male and female vocals for the OP. He also composed the second OP. My hero.
  17. This discussion makes me think of this:
  18. Mainly been playing Smash Bros 3DS lately, my platinum trophy escapades on Xillia 2 have been put on hold. My copy of Drakengard 3 arrived, so I'll probably start that too before going back to Xillia.
  19. Anime has many creative advantages over other mediums; there are countless things it can do that say a live-action movie struggles with (Lol Dragonball Evolution). But the one thing I don't think it can do well is be genuinely scary. Higurashi would be the scariest anime I've seen, and while I really liked it for several reasons it wasn't really scary. Games would probably be the medium with the greatest potential for horror. Silent Hill 2 creeped me the fuck out when I was younger, so I'll go with that.
