  1. Way to necropost Oh well, I guess I'll try to get it back on track then. There are two kinds of h-scenes I can potentially enjoy. The first one is very funny, comedy-focused scenes. Makina from Grisaia comes to mind. I laughed way too hard. Plus it was on character on top of it! The other h-scenes I'd love to see would be those that felt more romantic rather than cheap porn. I don't know about you guys, but hentai tropes do nothing for me. I'd never get off to that. I don't know if can say the same for more intimate and realistic scenes with a heroine I came to love though For this latter type, Chihiro's h-scene from ef comes to mind. It still had plenty of hentai clichés, but the essence and atmosphere was different. It was adorable and actually brought out some aspects of Chihiro's personality that I didn't notice until then, without complety breaking the character like most VNs tend to do in their h-scenes.
  2. If you can afford it and it makes you happy, then I'd go for it. Feelings > logic for all human beings, and you only live once And if you are gonna regret whatever choice you make, if you go for the thing that holds sentimental value for you then you'd have at least that. ---- So some days ago I placed an order on Amazon for some items I wanted to buy. The international shipping was fast and that same day at night, according to their page, my package was already ready to be delivered and was expected to arrive to my place the next day. Yeah it didn't, and it must be the local shipping company's fault. It's been 3 days since the expected arrival date, so I phoned them to ask what was going on. That was more than two hours ago, at 7 pm. According to them, "there was no reported incident and I should receive my package before 8 pm, hour when their delivery service ends for the day". 9:30 pm right now. Yeah go figure, it didn't. *sigh* It really pisses me off this kind of inconvenience for a paid service. And I'm not an unreasonable person, if they contacted me and told me that they had some kind of problem, OK, I could understand that. But nope, not a call, not even an e-mail. Fan-freaking-tastic. 10/10 would use again. EDIT: Ok, so after the phone call and an e-mail they updated the info on their tracking page. Do you see anything off? Let me translate for you: Your shipment couldn't be delivered due to a logistic incident in our delivery. We've already handled your shipment and you'll receive it on the expected date. Expected date: November 6th, 2018 Welp, now we only need a phone microwave. Let's hope it doesn't turn into jelly.
  3. Happy fuwanniversary mate! May have I started a trend with this? We are both from nearly the same period but look at you, you've been twice as active! Even though I'm not a frequent EVN reader (fortuitously, as I have no prejudices concerning origin nor genre) I do read your posts and have some recommendations of yours in my wishlist So yeah, you've definitely been a very helpful user and one of the most recognizable public fronts of this year. I look forward to keep reading your posts next year.
  4. You know, as I said, it's not like I'm a big fan of that scene as it's written either... though I do like the concept. You see, the thing with the deconstructions is that you need to first incorporate the thing you want to deconstruct. Instead of focusing on what makes it similar, think about what makes it different. Why is it different the harem setting in Muv Luv to other settings seen in so many other works? Why are the transparent suits suddenly acceptable? I believe it's the new implications they have.
  5. Actually let me explain myself better, because I'm noticing some misunderstandings which are most likely my fault I don't believe (or rather, I don't WANT to believe lol) that THAT particular scene was done with commercial purposes in mind. As I said, most people will be disgusted while reading it. It's just that it's in line with the eroge formula and cliches. You find yourself satisfied with the excuses for the harem setting and the transparent suits, because they are clever explanations that make what otherwise would be just dumb cliches sensible, don't you? I don't think that particular scene is any different. It's not that it's there to sell by itself just because it's sex related; it's another cliche of the genre being given a reasonable excuse to exist in that story. Muv Luv is in and of itself a very clever genre deconstruction, with all the tropes that the genre entails... while still benefiting from that overused formula to lure people into its claws.
  6. You are just too negative my dude. I think Muv Luv is simply brilliant for being able to deconstruct the genre like that, while still exploiting all its commercial benefits. Plus, really, you'd be hard-pressed to find stronger female characters than the ones in MLA. If one thing is left very clear is that those girls are first and foremost warriors, the bravest you'll come across. And they are still young girls deep inside who due to the unfortunate circumstances don't get to experience a normal life like the one they had in the world Takeru came from. While it uses the same formula, the message it tries to convey holds so much more meaning. I can't see anything wrong with that.
  7. The thing is, you bring up the fact that Sumika and not Takeru or other male characters are "sexualized", and while the story might offer you some excuse for it (like the harem setting in MLA, explained by the fact that most men already died when they first went to war), in the end it's plain obvious that the reason is just that the target demographic for most eroges are males, and guess what, a great part of that collective happens to like women Sex sells, everyone knows that. So, I wouldn't try to read too deep into it. I don't think it's necessarily sexism, just good ol' sex stuff as a selling point.
  8. While it will still feel like an excuse...
  9. Yeah, well, it's not like it's intended as a scene you could get off to anyway The IDEA of the scene made sense for me and it was indeed very disturbing, it's just the execution with all the hentai cheap hentai tropes that totally turned me off, which leads to: Yes, kind of. The biggest difference is that obviously they don't show nudity and the descriptions are a lot more "sober", if you might. So, while the exact same thing happened (and I wouldn't want it otherwise, as censorship should never change the story facts), it left much more to your imagination. Twizzlers still sponsored the scene though.
  10. Yup, I remember when I got to that part I felt pretty much the same, and wrote a very similar post to yours. I've actually read both the All Ages and the 18+ version of that scene, and yeah, I probably prefer the all ages version not because it shows less, but just because it feels a lot less over the top. On a side note, I believe it's probably because we've seen our share of messed up hentai that the scene felt like a parody to us I've heard that to other people it just felt like a very disgusting scene and didn't break the immersion at all.
  11. Thank you everybody. Such a warm reception, it brings a tear to my eye Glad to hear I hold good entertainment value. I hope it doesn't diminish in the future betsuni I'm quite the original one. I don't know, I thought it made much more sense to celebrate an account anniversary than my own, or you know, the 500th post or whatever.
  12. Today my Fuwa account turns exactly 1 year old, and, in catgirl years, that means I'm already legal and ripe for the taking for anyone interested It's been a fun time, though it seems like it was yesterday when I sign in. Time sure flies by huh I still clearly remember when I wrote my introduction post. Anyway, I'm glad I entered Fuwa. I've had the chance to discuss the adventures in VN land with great, super friendly people and that made it all the more enjoyable. So, for the year to come, thank you for everything and yoroshiku onegai shimasu ne.
  13. Hmm tough choice, every season has its own appeal. I'll go and say winter... the colder the weather, the more it contrasts with some nice heartwarming moments, and the better they feel. Then again, the same could be said for the other two seasons. Yes, you heard me right. Fuck summer, it's disgusting.
  14. The OP is freaking amazing. I get goosebumps every time Yeah maybe, but the way I see it, that's unimportant. We are getting a DUBBED localization of not a random VNs, but an absolute behemoth like Umineko. This is history right here. And the English voices sound really good to top! If fuwanovel's motto is "make visual novels popular in the west", this should be a day to celebrate for any Fuwa member
  15. Oh wow, that's... something What I heard from the English voice acting wasn't bad at all imo, though it feels pretty weird as I'm already used to the japanese voices. I don't know how to feel about the narrator. I think I'd personally prefer to read the narration and inner monologue to myself... the overly dramatic tone kinda breaks the atmosphere for me. Anyway, I'm excited about this!
  16. Welcome Admittedly I'm not the most knowledgeable person when it comes to cars, so it's not like it's particularly surprising... but I didn't know what K-cars are. From what I've read, they are similar to smart cars but you are allowed to actually drive it on the highway? Hmm they look cute, though I don't know if I'd feel safe driving one of those at more than 60 mph.
  17. Maybe, though I feel like Sakuta's smartass demeanor is a whole lot more beliavable than in other animes. Also after this recent episode 5, he's been cemented as one hell of a bro. For me, the characters' chemistry is refreshing enough to make up for all the rest of cliches you may find. Definitely a series that I'll look forward to every week.
  18. Sadly of those three I've only read MLA, but I don't even think I need to read the other two in order to wholeheartedly recommend Muv Luv. It's just that good, you can't go wrong Of course other people will say the same about the other ones, but with titles considered "kamiges" that's to be expected!
  19. Yeah.... I wouldn't be so sure. I'm an ardent supporter of democracy as a form of government, but for all its virtues, it's not without its flaws. When this ideology gets to infiltrate into the head politic parties and even the freaking UN, I wouldn't say they are that powerless. Sure, they supposedly cannot control the media, or at least the media that they don't own, but having control over most of it and the most prestigious ones, and most importantly, public education, is good enough to get a complete hold on the masses, as the history of any totalitarian government would tell you.
  20. This. Conservative sectors have been putting pressure on the videogame industry for decades, blaming the sexual and violent content for all the school shootings, rape cases and pretty much any criminal act committed by young people. The industry never gave a fuck about it, and they just kept on releasing even more extreme content. Why should they care? Conservatives are nowadays mostly on the older side of the demographic spectrum, and those people are not their primary clients anyway. It's when they receive flak from that considerable fraction of the youth that are oversensitive about sexism and gender ideology, that they start to care. After all, most left extremist are very young and belong to fairly accomodated families: exactly the part of the population that is likely to buy console games. This reasoning would also explain why they get away with any violent content, but sexual content or slight nudity is a no no, wouldn't it? And don't freaking tell me that these people don't exist or don't have that big an impact. Everyday in my day to day life I hear complaints of people with persecution complex about how everything around us objectifies women, about how any nudity or skimpy getup in movies should be banned, and even that the most wholesome romance novels and movies out there are sexist. Heck, this last month we even had all the controversy about this new a anime series, Goblin Slayer, where rape is depicted as a despicable and atrocious act and people in social media STILL went wild. I still recall cases like this, when the UN tried to ban hentai content, and how essentially Japan told them to mind their own business and care for the rights of actual real women (gosh that reply was so satisfying ), or this other issue that pisses me off, as it lead to minori's website to be closed off to non japanese people and the company refusing to export their products for a long while, and even today, 9 years later, the website stays like that.
  21. Welcome to our den! Admitting or denying your loliconness is a lose or lose situation, damned if you do and damned if you don't. In the end, the cops will judge
  22. Since here we don't really celebrate Halloween (though tomorrow is still a holiday) I just plan on spending the night reading Umineko. Quite fitting if I say so myself.
  23. To sum it up, what we can see is two extremist ideologies that, parting from opposite sides, end up in the exact same place. Nothing new under the sun. And it's always the individual rights that get compromised, sadly.
