  1. Ok, I registered over there to post my list : Ikezawa Hanako @ Katawa Shoujo Akamichi Shizune @ Katawa Shoujo Kentou Kanami @ Rance series Uesugi Kenshin @ Rance series Komine Sachi @ Grisaia no Kajitsu Irisu Makina @ Grisaia no Kajitsu Usami Haru @ G-Senjou no Maou Azai Kanon @ G-Senjou no Maou Senri Akane @ Rewrite Hatano Kanna @ Kono Yo no Hate de Koi wo Utau Shoujo YU-NO
  2. I don't have a lot of anime stuff except a few figures, mangas and DVDs/Blurays, but I keep my VN collection along with my PS1 collection and a few others on display at the top spot of my shelf. This one is the geeky part of my living room :
  3. I just preordered a hardcopy Kara no Shoujo Limited Edition, as soon as I got the e-mail from Mangagamer. I've been waiting for this for what seems ages. Game ships on Dec 9th!
  4. I have no idea how many times I have watched The Big Lebowski by now. Timeless classic. I used to watch a lot of movies, but there haven't been a lot of recent movies that have interested me so I find myself not watching as much. I'm a big fan of Woody Allen, the Cohen brothers and Terry Gilliam among others. Also a fan of old school Arnold Schwarzenegger movies, and Bill Murray is one of my favorite actors ever. A few of my favorite films : Hanna and Her Sisters, Manhattan, Fargo, Raising Arizona, Back to the Future trilogy, the original Star Wars trilogy, all Monty Python movies, La Haine, Army of Darkness, Happy Gilmore, Commando, Total Recall, Conan the Barbarian, the Pink Panther series, Pulp Fiction, Kikujiro no Natsu, Seven Samurai, Kagemusha, and a lot more. Also, in the spirit of the season, my timeless christmas classic, Scrooged : http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=C5s-xArZvjo
  5. I got fed up with Daibanchou since I keep getting an arbitrary game over on turn 26 and I don't really feel like starting over from the begining at the moment. I started a new game of Kanon around the same time, going for Nayuki's route first. I really like Kanon's wintery yet heartwarming feel. The anime is one of the series that made me cry the most, so I have good expectations for this. I also decided to try Majikoi on a whim, something about it struck my fancy and I just had to give it a shot. I wasn't sure what to expect but I'm quite pleasantly surprised for now. I'm still at the prologue, but the writing has been pretty funny so far and the references are pretty cool. I'm looking forward to Miyako's route translation since she's the one that I found most attractive so far, but I'll probably start with Yukie in the meantime. (At the rate I read VNs it'll probably take me forever to get through what's already translated anyway. But I like doing one route from a VN here and there. I'll finish them all eventualy, one route at a time heh.)
  6. Interesting question, I've been thinking about it for a bit and I think part of it is that I've always enjoyed reading for as long as I can remember, and also have always enjoyed video games, including ye-olde text adventure games from the west. The dating-sim/moege aspect can sometimes also have some influence, depending on my mood, I've always been a sucker for these type of games where you choose your favorite girl and try to have a romance with her, but I also enjoy reading deeper stories that make me think about life and probably wouldn't have the same impact in other mediums. I'm the type who can stop on a line to think about it for a while, so it usualy takes me forever to finish any VN. I like your point about corporate influence on video games though. It makes a lot of sense to me and probably affected my liking of the medium without me realizing it. It would also explain why I find myself interested in less and less console titles as years go by. (At least, Falcom, Atlus and a few others are still holding to flame.)
  7. I was wondering where this thread had gone. >_>;; http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ndiD8V7zpAs
  8. Getting psyched for the new season of Chuu2Koi! (Also the KyoAni store Rikka figure should be shipping soon!)
  9. According to my MAL I've watched almost 30 anime movies, so I'll try to make a top 10. 1. The Girl Who Leap Through Time (I've been listing this as my favorite anime movie ever since I saw it a couple of years ago, but by now I can barely remember anything so I think I'll have to rewatch it soon.) 2. Sword of the Stranger (Thank you Eldin for reminding me of this, I really loved that movie.) 3. Grave of the Fireflies (Them tears every time. This might actualy be worthy of the top spot on this list. Incredible post-war drama.) 4. Mononoke Hime (Probably my favorite Studio Ghibli movie, I think it was also my first.) 5. Wolf Children (Ookami Kodomo no Ame to Yuki) (A very touching movie, I think I want to watch it again soon.) 6. K-On the movie. (All the goodness of the series crammed into one feel-good movie. This film literaly put a smile on my face.) 7. The Garden of Words (Beautiful movie. Sure the story is not incredibly original, but it still made me tear a bit the first times I watched it. Makoto Shinkai's animation is especialy gorgeous on a large HDTV.) 8. Summer Wars (and I now realise I have three Hosoda Mamoru films on my list) 9. Akira (I mostly watch it out of nostalgia nowadays, but still enjoy it. Still one of the best soundtracks from anything ever.) 10. Berserk Golden Age Arc III : Descent (One of best, most important parts of the manga series, done much better than the original anime series IMO.) I got the GitS movie on tape during my teens(along with Ninja Scroll, those two seemed really popular back then) but for some reason it didn't really hook me as much as I expected from the hype. I enjoyed Stand Alone Complex a lot more though.
  10. I bought Senran Kagura Burst on 3DS. I'm quite pleasantly surprised with it so far, it's a very fun beat-em up despite some over the top fanservice. The battles are quite hectic, with lots of enemies on screen and a system that seems to encourage air juggling of multiple enemies at the same time. There also seems to be a lot of stuff to unlock.
  11. I just read the Rance 1 & 2 Digest editions that came as tokuten with Rance VI, with the patch from Rance Translations. It's a retelling of the first two games, including pretty much everything except the gameplay. Takes about 15 minutes to read for the first one, 45 for the second one. It was pretty funny and gave a better insight on the series' characters. Ready to move on to Rance III -Fall of Leazas-, though I might play something else first, not sure yet. I've been thinking of playing some Daibanchou, or continue one of the more "romantic" VNs I had started. I uploaded prepatched versions of the Rance digests if anyone is interested, I posted them here : https://forums.fuwanovel.net/index.php?/topic/2535-rance-1-2-digest/?view=getnewpost Hoping this works since I haven't been able to test it on another machine.
  12. I watched a lot of anime in the past year, so I think my top 10 has changed enough to warrant a new one. 1. Monster 2. Nichijou 3. Clannad (including After Story) 4. Chihayafuru 5. Hanasaku Iroha 6. K-On! 7. Toaru Kagaku no Railgun S 8. Kanon (2006) 9. Monogatari Series : Season 2 10. Tengen Toppa Gurren Lagann Honorable mention to Steins;Gate, which was on the list before and I still wanted to include, but couldn't decide what to bump.
  13. Makes sense I guess. I just found it weird that I usualy paid more when ordering from our closest neighbor, though I can afford it so it's ok. Also, I think the house a pretty big commitment already. Congrats!
  14. My first guest pass! I never thought I would stick with the service, giving that I torrent a lot, but watching from the PS3 is pretty nice. It encourages my laziness. PS6WBWKLNAW - exp Feb 13 2014 Claimed
  15. Cool, I remember trying that out all those years ago without actualy understanding japanese. Might give this one a try later!
  16. Preordered Steins;Gate from Rightstuf.com, profiting from the 33% off sale that ends in less than an hour. 40$ instead of 60$. I kinda hate how I always end up paying more for shipping from the US to Canada than it usualy costs me from Japan, have no choice of shipping service, and almost always get customs fees when importing from the US. (Never once had customs fees on any of my many japanese imports.)
  17. I finaly beat Sengoku Rance for the first time! I might try to do some of the IF routes later.
  18. I started Tonari no Kaibutsu-kun! on a whim and it's really clicking with me, I think I will enjoy this show. Also gave Gifuu Doudou a try, from the new season, I just today noticed it was about Sengoku period, and the artstyle very similar to JoJo and Fist of the North Star intrigued me.
  19. Still playing Sengoku Rance. Even Rance can get serious at times. ;_; Almost done with the Demon Army, but it was really fucking hard and a lot of shit has also happened story wise! Sadly I lost Hattori Hanzou to Apostle Gigai's first duel before stumbling with blind luck upon who I should really send against him. Really enjoying this, more than the first few times I tried it without really paying attention to the story. I think I will most likely try to go for the other endings once I (hopefully) manage to beat it. It also made me think of giving Daibanchou another chance and playing the other Rance games.
  20. A few of my friends are big fans of Eluveitie. I really like what I've heard of them as well, good stuff.
  21. I hadn't listened to this in a while, but I got back in the mood for it after thinking about it in the other thread. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZhX6eYGL8a8
  22. #1 Kill La Kill. I was actualy looking forward to Kyoukai no Kanata more, but this show easily stole the spotlight. Very entertaining every week, and the animation is a joy to look at. #2 Gingitsune. My emotional anime of the season I guess. I wasn't sure what to expect at first, but I really like it so far. #3 Kyoukai no Kanata. I'm still not sure if I like it more than Log Horizon, but the animation and Kuriyama's cuteness won me over for now.
  23. Gah, I had just about finished my post and my browser crashed. -_- I tend to prefer instrumental music, from modern bands such as Explosions in the Sky, Mogwai, Do Make Say Think and Godspeed You! Black Emperor, to classical music passing by jazz and its variants. I also listen to metal(80s metal, power metal and prog metal mostly), rock, folk, chiptune and afrobeat. (Antibalas Afrobeat Orchestra particularly) From one of my favorite canadian bands : http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7sloRE7DF2M
  24. was merely reduced to 2 minutes in the credits, making me lose all my hope for romance in the series, it was really disappointing. Indeed they kept the major one where Rin is taken away to another school but even that skipped a lot of scenes. The baseball game also felt a bit lacking but I guess they were just running out of time. I guess now we're jumping right into refrain though i feel like this is going to lack a lot.. I was wondering if I was alone feeling this, but one of my friends who also played the game said the same thing about how they crammed something that took me at least 2 or 3 hours to read into a 2 minutes montage. Very disapointing indeed.
