say what you want, but after sekai proudly announced their 2 new upcoming titles yesterday, i seriously felt the urge to throw up. compared to that piece of rubble, most of the mediocre porn released by mg so far seems like heaven to me....

There isn't much translation progress this week since I'm currently transferring the translated lines to our drive. I updated the website also if anybody cares.

I honestly don't like this attitude from MangaGamer. They got burned on ef not because it was fan translated first, but because they completely failed to adequately market it. ef was a lightly popular anime, they could have tried to get fans of the show to pay attention to the VN release, but they didn't. They could have tried to push it to fans of romance as it's a fairly serious romance title, but they didn't. They could have advertised it at common otaku sites like 4chan, but they didn't. They did literally no external advertising for it whatsoever and only told people about it through their own site and newsletters. No shit it failed. They now use this negative experience to campaign against fan translations in general, claiming they hurt the industry. The failings are on their end. When JAST is given a fan translation, they polish the hell out of it and release it better than ever before (the ef script was barely changed in the MG release) and advertise the hell out of it. You could see Saya no Uta ads at a lot of common otaku-frequented sites. MangaGamer should exercise some self-reflection before criticising others.

Their message pretty much comes off as "please stop". Not "don't translate titles from our partners" but "don't release any complete patches for any VNs at all because it makes contract negotiations hard". Meanwhile, Doddler, their twitter idol, is working with Arudoc to release complete translations for multiple games, Maria is working on a complete Rance Quest fan patch, and Cafe ostensibly will finish Aoire Rinne some day. The behavior of their own staff goes against what they say. They should either get their own ducks in a row before standing on a soapbox or shut up, preferably the latter.

I will also say that fan translations obviously have very many benefits for the industry. They suggest that all fan translators only translate trials. I would have never read my first eroge, Fate/Stay Night, if there was only a trial patch available. I would never have given any eroge company a penny of my money if it wasn't for multiple complete translation patches that drew my attention. The industry is still so niche that it can't survive without a thriving fan scene. I can guarantee that MangaGamer would be nowhere if fan translations weren't around and they'd be in serious trouble in the future if all fan translations suddenly ceased. They may seem like an evil to MangaGamer, but at the very least they're a necessary evil as they provide the lifeblood of the industry.

(Uncensor quality will vary. Remember, this is fan made. Don't expect premium quality.)

Patch is completely compatible with both Yandere's version of the game, and base version of the game.

Note: Fuwanovel doesn't allow us to post a download link for an illegal version of the game. You'll either have to find a pirated version by yourself, or buy it.
Note 2: Fuwanovel doesn't allow torrents anymore, so you'll have to make do with file-sharing websites. At least from us. Someone else might make a torrent and upload that somewhere like Kickass or Nyaa.

Patch links (Choose whichever link you prefer):

    4. http://www42.zippyshare.com/v/NK6yGLUM/file.html

    Install Instructions:
    1. Open the "Majikoi English Patch." (Preferably as administrator.)

    2. Click "next." (Duh.)

    3. If you don't have Majikoi installed in the default directory, or don't have Japanese locale, navigate to the game location with the "Browse" button. Choose whatever folder has the まじこい.exe. If you don't have it, then re-install the game. Note: Sometimes, because of Windows pathfinder being stupid, even if you have it installed in the default directory and the locale is set to Japanese, the "next" button will still be gray. If that happens, just click "Browse," and then "open folder" without choosing anything. That should fix it. If not, just navigate to where the game is installed.

    4. Choose what to install. The English Patch contains all of Yandere's work (minus crack), and, of course, our own translations. "Uncensored Images" will replace all the adult images that contain censorship with fan-made uncensored versions, courtesy of Helvetica Standard. These can vary in quality.

    5. Click "install." Wait for it to install.

    6. Click "Finish."

Aaaaand you're done. Congratulations, you now have a completely English translated version of Majikoi!

    Important!
In order to make a non-legit copy of the game work, a cracked .exe is needed. Fuwanovel doesn't allow cracks because of legal issues, however. If you want to play the game with a pirated version, you'll have to find a crack for the game somewhere else. For anyone with a Yandere-patched version of the game, this is not important, as yours is already cracked and our patch doesn't overwrite the crack. For anyone else, try finding Yandere's version on torrent sites, or wait for an independent crack to be posted on websites such as [removed].

Un-install instructions (Useful if you don't like the uncensored images):
    1. Open "Majikoi English Patch Uninstall" in the folder you installed the patch to, aka your Majikoi folder.

    2. Click "next." (Duh.)

    3. Choose what content to install.

    4. Click "uninstall."

Done. Please note that the uninstaller simply restores the game to the state it was in before you patched it. So if you had Yandere's version before, and you installed both the English Patch and the uncensored images, and then uninstall them both, the game would revert back to just being Yandere's version.

    Let me explain the situation

I am working with the team on boku
    We are all translating boku
But at the moment all that's left is script translation which is obviously going to take ages.

Then I just made a new friend last week who is not affiliated with us but he wants to do sakarusou so I told him I'd try to get the script since the user above is offering who can deny

And then I personally am going to start up golden time android translation. Which won't be until summer time that's when I'll start messing around with that games obb file.

I now it sounds crazy but there

yup therefore i suggest first watching the movies, then the old anime afterwards (some additional scenes) & afterwards reading the manga, cause everything whats been animated is nothing more than a teaser with a great cliffhanger

edit: playing the game (dreamcast or emulator) isnt a bad idea either. takes place AFTER the first arc

There are SO MANY redundancies in these sentences, but I kept telling myself it's okay. Then a bunch appeared in the same line:

OH COME ON! I hope this is getting another edit before actual release (please? Pretty please?)

Suggestions - "The fact I wasn't joking showed how perilous my situation was."  Or "That I wasn't joking showed the gravity of my situation." But my preference is probably something like "I wasn't joking, that's how perilous my situation was." something like that. The point is, see how clean and bloat free my suggestions are? See the colossal bloat in the sentence above? The bloat obstructs the meaning, the imagery, and the impact of the words... it also makes my eyebrow twitch.

Anyways, hey all! My Name is Kevin, and I'm here to look for writers for a project me and a few others have been working on! Here's a demo video to get things rolling.

    Edit 2: Demo is up!

Edit 3: We have a writer!
Many thanks for all the people who applied, and to all those who commented/gave us feedback. We'll be sure to keep you guys updated on the project as it matures in the coming months!

    Download link (40mb): http://www.mediafire.com/download/y1kb4 ... .4_win.rar
Only windows build up for now, working on mac port

    Notes about the Demo:
Once again, I must stress the fact that we don't have a writer (which I suppose is kinda the point). As such, expect the writing to be fairly dodgy, as it was put together by a bunch of artists and a programmer. The build is intended purely as a tech demo demonstrating the capabilities of our system - I'm sure the writers out there can already envision better uses for it!
Optimization for lower-end computers is still on-going, so it might lag a bit on older laptops/desktops.
If you guys find any bugs with the build, or have any comments, please let us know!

: D pretty snazzy eh? For the more astute, you can see the influences we've drawn from studios SHAFT and Trigger in particular.

    Project Ven
What is Project Ven? We like to call it "a visual novel on crack" (You can see that we're not very good with words - probably why we need a writer).
Our goal is to make a visual novel that demonstrates the capabilities of the medium to a mainstream audience, while remaining relevant to existing fans of the genre.

Examples of some of the elements we are exploring:
Player agency and its role in dictating narrative pacing and content Usage of textual and visual assets in complementary ways Page/link system ala Twine Kinetic typography Experimental rendering systems to simulate 2d "hand-drawn" animations Exploration of space as a narrative device
While it's still too early to spill the beans on all the stuff we have planned (nCart rendering system I'm looking at you), suffice to say we have a lot of exciting stuff coming - all of which you can follow throughout the coming months on this blog.

    Our studio: Title pending
    The team behind it all.
In the latter half of 2014, a group of nerds got together and asked themselves the question: why haven't visual novels grown as a medium since its 2000s heydays? Compared to other "niche" genres such as voxel games, rogue-likes and simulators, the genre hasn't seemed to have progressed as much, and still remains a budding industry in the West. While we salute the folks at Dischan Media, Freebird Games, and Sekai Project - examples of companies that have made great strides in furthering the genre - we remain deeply dissatisfied at the state of the medium, for we know that it's true potential has barely been touched.

So we decided to do it ourselves, and that is how Project Ven came to be.

Overtime, we have formulated the following Manifesto:
Expand and evolve Visual Novels as a medium for a universal audience. Explore new ways in which Visual Novels can be used as a story-telling medium. Raise the quality bar for Visual Novels not only in the West, but worldwide.
I hope it doesn't sound too presumptious - but we really want to (like Fuwas' tagline) "Make Visual Novels Popular in the West".

    We need a Writer!
We have the technical know-how. We have the visuals down-pat. We have the programmer, the designer, the artist, the animator…but we're still missing one crucial element - the writer.
This is why we have created this "tech demo": not only to show what we want to do, but to show what we can do - the capabilities of the team and the quality we are aiming for.
So if you're a writer interested in creating a high-quality, "next-gen" visual novel, please apply!

    What we are looking for:
Fast and loose writing: Due to the nature of our game, you will be expected to create a large number of text assets - however, you will also be given a large amount of creative freedom in what you write: as can be seen in our demo, we have anything from poems, jokes, anecdotes, screenplays, to recipes. Collaboration: As fellow creatives we understand the pain of having to compromise your vision. That being said, a few of us on the team are also quite keen on the world-building and character design aspects of the game, so be ready for some collaboration! That being said, for our project the story trumps all, so don't be afraid of having to compromise due to artistic or technical constraints - it will be our job to match the story. Volume: We must once again stress the importance of speed: specifically, we're looking at around 180 pages of work (100 pages for the main script, 80 for all the side stories/objects) in 4 months, leaving 2 months for polish/QA.
    Setting
Though the plot and setting of the game has not yet been finalized, we are currently leaning towards magic realism as the genre. We are also steering away from romance; this is due to a variety of reasons, but mainly due to oversaturation from existing works.

    Scope
We wish to start off by testing the grounds with a smaller project: our goal is to release a ~1 hour long novelette within 6 months. The system and pipeline has already been set up for easy integration with text assets - the bulk of the work will not be integration but creation and editing. By aiming for a smaller release we can also focus on quality of execution and polish. The fast release will also let us know on how to progress with the eventual "larger" game, depending on how the initial release goes.

    Finances
We are working with a revenue share model. (Most of us are just students or recent graduates). That being said, we plan to apply for various funding bodies such as the Indiefund & Film Victoria - if any funding is successful, all members of the team will immediately get a share of the funding.

For anyone interested in the position, please include an example of previous work you have done.
As we are on an extremely tight schedule, please contact us by the 23rd of March.

Look forward to the demo, which should be up by this Thursday Friday - apologies for the delay - we realised the submission deadline for the competition is Friday, so will use this opportunity to polish it up further.

please forgive my ignorent self, but concerning the possibility of a official translation, regarding the 2 titles by said company....you know one of them is a fandisc (usually a bit of afterstory & lots of chakalaka), so what my drunken self wants to shadow forth, when company X already screwed at translating/butchering the main game (usually lots of story & lesser chakalaka content), then how in gods name are they supposed to provide us (the customers) with a satisfying result?
Honestly my doubts concerning that are 10 times bigger, than my fear of wetting my bed after drinking too much beer.
