I am a fairly average reader of VNs, (read around 3-4 big ones, and numerous little ones) and love sifting through the stories as a good alternative to a book. Have a moe: My favourite VN...that's a pretty tough question. If I had to choose I think it would have to be between Ayashibito and Muv-Luv Alternative. Gone through all the routes too (Loved Yumiko's route especially). I have already planned to tackle Fate/Stay and Tsukhime, I have watched the anime of each and I'm sure Ill enjoy the VNs too.
