  1. Ninja Gaiden 2 on the NES, arguably the best Ninja Gaiden title and soundtrack to date (my opinion). My favorite tracks on it are Tower of Lahja and Deep Within the Heart.
  2. That's silly. No one would argue that the sky is blue .
  3. Did you ever have that urge to take the reins of an entire Anime project and steer it into the proper direction (maybe not directly with your own hands)? That anime that could have had so much potential to be great if it didn't have the lousy half of the second season? I thought Samurai Flamenco's first 6-7 episodes were going to lead to something divine. We had a pretty big revelation at the end of episode 7, when a drug bust went wrong and several people died. This revelation was the Episode 25 Berserk-esque type. Then the unexpected happened: the writer died and left the rest to the assistant who's only job is to bring coffee every morning.
  4. You'll cry just as many tears as all three combined too.
  5. *glare* I'm still figuring out if the English patch exists for the Android.
  6. We live in tough economic times. It makes anyone cynical. The cynics need heroes like Batman and Kiritsugi to stand up for them . The treatment of Saber in fate/zero was especially bad for us and a win for cynics everywhere. I cringed in embarrassment each time she lost an argument to Kiritsugi (and practically everyone). We all know Kiritsugi and her are from the same idealistic stock though (heck their life examples were the same.) Kiritsugi's broken dreams at the end of the series had cynics rejoicing everywhere... if they weren't so hardened by cynicism by then.
  7. Lol obviously more. I think people are turned off because of how dated it is and never give it a try. The voice acting is one of the best I've heard. Even more so when you turn off the music and can hear every nuance and tonality in their voices. Amazing.
  8. Well it makes me pretty sad that F/SN's was included in this, and my Saber is hated so much. I've personally never discussed her with any fans so I don't know what "Saberfags" are like. It was my first VN and Saber was my first VN favorite. I wasn't personally attracted to her looks. I thought her whole character design from her blonde hair to her goth outfit was terrible straight off. There's a weird obsession with western Victorian/Goth culture in Japan. But her personality was amazing. She always carried a big stick but talked with that firm but gentle voice. "Shiro, I'm hungry." "Shiro, we should get going." "Shiro?" "Shiro!" I know I can always rely on her being by my side unless she gets possessed by an angry, rejected spirit. True she doesn't have any of the excitement of a Yandere, or the hot and cold teasings of a Tsundere (Though I think her bantering with Shirou in UBW and HFs were really cute.) But you know what they say, girls like bad boys when they're young but marry a nice guy when they're older. I think that applies in reverse to guys as well. ------------------------------------------- My worst experience with a VN was probably My Girlfriend is the President. Now that's stupid! Oh and Muv Luv: Lacrosse.
  9. Muv Luv Alternative 9.29 score is hard for me to believe when everything else is practically a 7+ on VNDB
  10. Mine wasn't a very original experience. I wanted to get into the Fate series one day, but was confused about my starting point. I posted a question on myanimelist and from there, people gave me 3 answers. 1) Skip Fate/stay night and watch Fate/Zero. 2.) Watch Fate/stay night and UBW first 3.) Just play the visual novel skip F:SN anime. Had I chosen to watch the animes first back then, I probably wouldn't be here talking right now.
  11. The quote and particular VN slips from my mind. Earlier today I remembered this great quote that was really practical to the moment. To me, a good quote doesn't have to be fancy. It's something that really strikes a chord with whoever's sitting there reading it though.
  12. Ah Tachibana, Tachibana. I loved her ending video - the symbolism was especially beautiful - along with Tsugumi's the most. I thought Chitoge was the obvious choice too but since the Yui arc, she's been non-existent practically. It's like the author just writes on his flavor of the month girl, without any clear focus who to end it with.
  13. I heard about this awhile back on an anime forum. I don't have high expectations for it. It sounds like a company trying to milk out the name with a merchandise. But I'd buy it just because it is Nisekoi lol. Are VN's on PS Vita typically 18+ like for PC?
  14. The mistake can be really distracting from the otherwise easy learning experience. I hear that this book is the worst out of the 4 volumes, and the books after this one cleaned up all the mess that vol. 1 contained. 3 and 4 have perfect 5 star ratings. Ugh, I want to be able to read Kanji already. The first thing I do when I learn Kanji is to read the entire light novel of Hataraku Maou-Sama. Have you heard of that?
  15. Lol thank you. I just wanted a confirmation. It was bugging me badly. Knowledge acknowledged lol.
  16. I have my first newbie question: In the book Japanese from Zero volume 1, I'm learning in this chapter the grammatical usage of wa, nan, desu, ka and along with the usage of dore, docchi, kore, sore, are (and their docchi counterparts). It suddenly asks me to translate this sentence into English: Kuruma wa desu ka. Up until now I haven't seen any examples of something this abrupt. I looked up google examples for "topic + wa desu ka" of it's usage but no luck. All I can think of is this translation: The car? Feels like something is missing. Am I right? Or is this a typo (this book is known for having a lot of minor typos)
  17. Yeah, I'm just starting out with my baby steps right now. I can't wait till the book starts phasing words out with Hiragana. I'll look forward to asking questions in the future .
  18. I think of Lolis when I hear Tsundere. Kuudere and Dandere aren't the same to me. As someone who likes proud and boisterous personalities like Meiya and Mitsuhiro Sachi, I have a hard time listening to Rei Ayanami types (or the more extreme Hinata from Naruto) who speak in inaudible monotone voices. But there are exceptions like Tenshi from Angel Beats who warms any heart with her silence. The only similarities are that they have stable personalities compared to Tsundere and Yandere. This reminds me of old table top RPG where you pick character alignments lol.
  19. I got the book and did my first Japanese lesson today! I'm happy to say It was really easy to understand, especially the counting system. I can count to 9999 now. Although I'm tripping over a few things, because I know three other languages. Right now I'm trying to visualize everything in Japanese without getting crossovers coming through my head.
  20. If you think It'll help, I can try my best. I wish I could answer this honestly, but I know that my spoken preferences don't always match what I instinctively feel. Some character who don't match any of the qualities I prefer comes along and steals the scene. Happens all the time. As much as I like Meiya's and Saber's sworn oaths to fealty and uphold justice, I wouldn't mind leaving a trail of dead bodies with Yuno Gasai (fictionally speaking). Actually that makes me think I might just like theatrical characters who border a bit on the obsessive side. There is Meiya's and Saber's duty to one's country; Sachi's dedication to laziness; Isoroku's ambition to bear an heir to the family; Suzuha's lone fight against an apocalyptic future; Kurisu's mad obsession with the theory of time travel. I think it's really tragic how stuck these characters are. This is a good reflection on the subject. I've played few VNs compared to everyone else here, but I could come to the same logical conclusion by imagining. Another reason why I put emphasis on character request over plot in my OP. Not that I don't enjoy a VN with an amazing thought out plot.
  21. Incredible! Thanks for the quick answer.
  22. I found this short clip and thought that there might be more like this somewhere. Does anyone know the source of this? The art style is pretty attractive. I think Sumika looks better here than she does in the VN and Takeru looks like Takeru.
  23. However, don't go and buy them all at once. It is natural if the first one takes you a long time to finish. I finished 3 books of the German series in one year and that's still a bit faster than expected. Maybe you will find someone to help you with your studies but even then, don't be disappointed if it takes you long to complete. I'd rather take longer to learn the whole thing than finishing it quickly and forgetting it just as fast. Hmm, slip into a party. Infiltrate and learn. I like that. And yea no way I'm going to rush this one. I have a lot of free time right now. Thank you .
  24. I wouldn't make good use of such a beautiful collection. I'm going to sit back and watch this .
