Clockwork Leyline and Hoshimemo: What actually happened!
Rin91 replied to -soraa's topic in Visual Novel Talk
This is from Sekai's AMA thread on reddit. They really need to up their management game. -
Wait, is this a "Best VN" discussion where I can't say Majikoi? I don't care, it's my answer anyway. Tsukihime was good though.

NekoNyan, New Localization Company from Saku Saku Translation Team
Rin91 replied to littleshogun's topic in Visual Novel Talk
That does paint a pretty bad picture of his involvement in the projects, I admit. But I'd still like to hold on to a glimmer of hope that there was more happening behind the scenes that contributed to the bad quality. That it wasn't all on them. Though, as you said, we'll find out when their first title is released. -
NekoNyan, New Localization Company from Saku Saku Translation Team
Rin91 replied to littleshogun's topic in Visual Novel Talk
While that may be true, Libra is a very low-profile title compared to Hoshimemo and SakuSaku. It was also Mikandi's first project, so they had some amount of "sympathy" and could screw up a small amount and still be fine. They screwed up so badly that none of that mattered though, and when a company as experienced as Sekai Project does the same they pretty much deserve the backlash, in my opinion. Having said that, I do hope the horrible state of Hoshimemo and SakuSaku were mostly the fault of Sekai's management/time contraints and that NekoNyan will deliver better quality now that they're freed of those constraints. Probably wishful thinking, but I'd like to give them the benefit of the doubt until I read Fureraba. -
Last I heard the guy who was translating Flight Diary put the project on hold to help with with the retranslation of the original. But that's a long time ago so I don't know if that's still the case.

Majikoi S Translation Project Discussion
Rin91 replied to Ouraibaa Hjyuraa's topic in Fan Translation Discussion
I'm getting the same error in Chris' route, but not at a video. It happens every time as Chris says "Awah." when she and Mayucchi are cleaning early in the route. Can't figure out how to get past it. Edit: ^Oh, it's already fixed? Great! Thanks for getting to it so fast. -
Thanks, but I didn't actually walk around with the Loam. I bought it but never used it, and still got the scenes. I'm on my NG+ right now and got the second scene a few minutes ago. I've bought other female monsters and just have them on the list to see if other events pop up for them.
-
You can only enter the dungeon floors you have missions for, unfortunately. With the exception of the Demon/Dragon dungeons. They say so in the game when they introduce them. Also, I didn't get the Loam bathing scene in my first playthrough since I didn't use it. But in my NG+ I had it sitting in my party, not using it in dungeons, and still got the scene randomly after walking around farming mobs for their scenes.

Getting excited about news for a project you've followed for years is only natural, no matter the medium.

Well this is a thing. Miu's route has been translated by a guy called Kelvincome, with some help from machine translation. It is just raw scripts though, not a patch, as they don't have a hacker who can make one.
-
Yup, works as intended. 'Yamatoh' through the prologue and then back to 'Yamato' when choosing heroines. Skipped through Momoyo's route from start to finish without any issues.

I think you're misunderstanding the position of "hacker". The hacker is part of the group and does tech stuff like patching and extracting the script from the game for the translators. There is no malicious hacking involved

The English is simply too blunt and unnatural. It might sound like nitpicking but many find it hard to enjoy reading when they keep correcting the sentences in their own head. Having low standards is fine, we all want more VNs to read, and I'd never say a translation wasn't worth doing as long as it makes sense, but I expect more from an official release.

Tweet from Sekai Project: "...demo is not indicative of the final version." Nice to hear. Hope restored.

Was pretty damn excited for this, but seeing the pics herkz is posting on Twitter is making me want to cry... I'm sure he's posting the worst he stumbles upon, but the translation seems to be machine level. Edit: herkz' twitter for those who want to take a look.

Yeah, though I'm just as inactive here as I am on Twitter B)

Heya, Ariurotl! Welcome to the Fuwa forums

I remember TakaJun, the original translator, ran polls on his site on who to translate and in which order. I don't remember the results and the site is gone, but it's safe to assume she wasn't as popular back then as she is today.

Don't worry about it. I think I'm partly to blame since I mention your projects from time to time. I do frequent your blog because I look forward to your work, but if there's one thing to be said about visual novel readers it's that they're certainly patient. So there's no need to feel pressured. Most people understand the amount of time it requires to finish such a project.
