This tl is like, totally great 「akatuki no goe」 This review is completely unbiased, and not forced out of me by bee in any way, shape, or fap. So like, I read the tl of this thing and it's amazing. Beyond grisaia tier. Brains sprouted from my groin and I ejaculated pure information (and cum) at least 300 times while reading just an hour of it. You can download it here, and remember, I was not forced to write this by anyone, especially not Bee. Thank you for your cum-operation

Finally a quicker update than usual. I actually managed to finish translating Mao's arc much faster than I expected, but that mainly lends itself to Katagi Kou's relatively straightforward writing style that I've gotten quite used to over the course of translating the common route and Matsuri's route that he also wrote. But also, I confess, I had a lot of fun reading through Mao's arc. Like, a lot of fun. That's not to say I haven't enjoyed the entire story thus far. I wouldn't be doing this if I didn't love the story, obviously. But each arc has its own unique attractions and charms to them, which should be the goal of any visual novel. Can I just say that I think it's a shame that Katagi Kou only ever (primarily) wrote Koichoco and Imaimo? The whole reason why I even picked up the project was because I loved Koichoco on the whole (it wasn't perfect, but no game is) and wanted to read more of what the author wrote, only to find he wrote only one other game.
But enough of my ranting. The total translation stands at 73.1% complete with one route left, the behemoth herself, Ayumu. But knowing that hers is the only one left makes it a little easier mentally, even if it's just over 12,000 lines strong. So I can finally see the light as the end of the translation tunnel, but there will still be a ton of work to do after that, meaning the patch won't actually be out for many more months, but at least I'm nearing the end of that major hurdle. Hopefully I'll have made a good chunk of progress through Ayumu's arc by the Sunday update. So until the next update.

Two more milestones have been met in the past week. The first is that over 50% of the game has been translated as of June 2, and also that Kimika's route is now fully translated, bringing the total translation up to 55%.
Last time, I had mentioned that Kimika's route is the shortest, and although that's technically true by line count, I looked over the individual character counts again and I realized that Kimika actually has about 150,000 characters (kanji/kana), which is almost exactly how many characters the common route has, despite the common route being almost 1,200 lines longer. At first I wasn't sure what to make of this, but now that I've gone through Kimika's arc, I can say that Tanizaki Ouka tends to be more verbose and descriptive than Katagi Kou, and although this can really enhance the story at certain times, other times it can be a little too much since Tanizaki can also be very repetitive. Either way, it was interesting seeing how different their two writing styles are, and how they also mesh well together when the game is taken as a whole.
So, if it wasn't obvious already, I'll be working on Mao's arc next, which by both line count and character count is almost exactly the same length as Matsuri's arc, with just slightly less lines and less characters. I've been leaving Ayumu to do last since her arc is the longest by far, taking up almost 27% of the entire game's content with 131 individual scenario files, so yeah, that'll be interesting. So until the next status update, I'll just keep plugging away at it.

The second major milestone has been hit with the completion of translating Matsuri's route, bringing the total content translated up to 38%. Translation is going well without too much in the way of setbacks, and I hope to continue at this pace for a while longer.
I'm happy to see others are looking forward to playing this game eventually. If all goes well, I might even be able to finish the patch before the end of the year, but that's still a long way away with tons of work left to do. Speaking of work, next I'll be working on Kimika's route, the shortest of the four heroine routes, and the only one not written by Katagi Kou. Kimika's is written by Tanizaki Ouka, probably best known for Uki's route from Chaos;Child. Kimika's route is also more compact, with just over half of the 70 scenario files being over 100 lines each. In comparison, Mao's route is almost exactly the same length as Kimika's, but Mao has 82 scenario files, and Matsuri's which isn't that much bigger than Mao's has 84. So the overall pacing and feel of Kimika's route is bound to be pretty different compared to the rest of the content.
By the way, I update the totals in the first post weekly every Sunday morning, so come back and check to see how things are going from time to time.

Today I've hit the first major milestone by completing the translation of the common route, a full 20% of the game's content. I even managed to complete it a little sooner than I expected, although I'm leaving all the editing for after the entire translation is complete, so it's not done by any means.
Thank you for the support I've already received. Next, I'm going a little out of order and I'll be working on Matsuri's route.

    Description
This is an all-ages game by fairys, the sister brand of Sprite. It takes place before Koi to Senkyo to Chocolate.

Rikuto had a new younger brother Ayumu after his father’s remarriage. However, little did he know that Ayumu was actually his younger sister and it was under her mother’s orders that she pretend to be a boy to him. Every day, his heart beats a little faster around his overly cute ‘brother’ (sister), while her heart aches in having to hide her true identity from her kind brother.

With the arrival of spring, Rikuto and Ayumu begin attending the popular private school Asaoka Academy, with Ayumu dressed up as a girl. As he became friends with his classmates, he noticed that they all had something missing. His friend from middle school, Matsuri, has lost sight of what it meant to be a girl. The cool-mannered Mao dresses as a boy even though she is a girl. The extremely shy class rep Kimika wishes to change herself. With Ayumu by his side, he sets out to help them seek out what they are missing.

    Where to purchase
The game can be purchased legally from DMM (https://dlsoft.dmm.com/detail/fairys_0001/), but this requires the use of a Japanese proxy to access the website. Not that hard to do, just annoying. That is where I obtained my copy.
    Project

The English localization project is taking place under the banner of the newly established Studio Frisay, of which I (Tooko) am the sole member. That means I am doing all of the translating and editing of the script, in addition to the image editing, and at least all of the (major) engine hacks (there are one or two things on that front I may need help with in the future). I actually have extensive experience translating and editing text and images, although this is still my first ever visual novel translation project (I was previously a scanlator for a number of years in another life).
    Studio Frisay Discord server
    Progress
Programming: The game is built on the BGI/Ethornell engine, and after an extensive combination of research, testing, trial and error, and just plain dumb (beginner's) luck, I've managed to solve all of the major programming issues, including dumping and re-encoding scripts, dumping and editing of images, altering system images/text, repackaging of system files, and changing how all fonts are handled in-game, including sizing and positioning. I still want to figure out how to incorporate Locale Emulator natively and one or two other things that will improve usability, but none of that will prevent the patch from being completed at this point.
Translation: The translation officially commenced on April 4, 2022 and was completed on June 27, 2022. The game has 44,837 lines across 460 separate scenario files split up between the common route and four heroine routes:
    Common: 8910 / 8910: 100%
    Ayumu: 12045 / 12045: 100%
    Matsuri: 8168 / 8168: 100%
    Kimika: 7719 / 7719: 100%
    Mao: 7995 / 7995: 100%
    Total: 44837 / 44837: 100%
Images and videos: Aside from minor tweaks, the 164 images in need of editing for text, including 31 for the UI, are now completed. Editing of images is shared between me and nReus, who is also translating and typesetting lyrics onto the OP/ED videos.
Editing: The editing of the game's text officially commenced on July 6, 2022 and was completed on July 30, 2022.
QC: The quality check phase will commence in two phases: pre-QC and then the actual QC. Pre-QC involves the engine work and recompiling the patch files. The actual QC involves testing the files by playing the patched game. Overall, this phase will take at least a month, so the patch is scheduled for release on September 9.

Special thanks goes to arcusmaximus over at GitHub for developing both VNTranslationTools and EthornellTools which were absolutely essential in making this project even possible. Also, another shout out goes to Perturbed Pangolin over at Operation Bellflower whose blog posts related to the BGI/Ethornell engine were crucial with the programming in this game.

Hey man. I actually worked on this game's translation for a while before real life fucked me.
Was actually curious because someone actually completing the game appeared, and I wanted to see what's up.
After looking into stuff for a bit though I'm left with no choice but to make a post.
You claim that you translated the entire base game and the fandisk "in a matter of weeks" working for 16 hours a day each day. Sorry, but this is impossible. No one, and I say no one, can work for 16 hours straight in translation for several days and not deliver a below par result. Also, honestly I can't believe that between the time you asked for the tools in another thread saying that "you were looking forward to translate this" exactly 2 months ago before releasing this https://forums.fuwanovel.net/topic/24092-help-working-with-a-bgi-game/ you were able to translate over 2 Million characters and over 100k lines of text.
So yeah, I'm sorry to whoever was excited for this, but this 100% completion is entirely either machine translated or god knows fucking what.
As a last word, before anyone claims that idk what I'm talking about, I tried to fan translate this some years ago, one year of approximately daily 1.5-2h of work ended up with me having done only 20k lines out of the 80k lines of the MAIN GAME. I'm slower than your average fan translator, but I just simply can't believe someone is able to translate just the main game in less than a year, let alone in 2 months. No matter the amount of time you sink in each day. Take my words however you want, since I assume you'll want to release your stuff anyway.

PS: The main game has roughly 80k lines, fandisk no clue but definitely more than 20k. No one, I repeat, NO ONE, is able to even remotely come close to do more than 100k lines equivalent to what this game has in 2 months. We're talking about more than 1.5 MILLION CHARACTERS for just the first game ALONE. The fastest guy I know can pull off 1 M charas in a year btw, and he no lifes it 6-8 hours a day because he has infinite time.

Take this as you will. Have a nice day.

Ottes reacted to HMfan in Saimin Yuugi translation project (New attempt started mid-december 2022 with new team)
Hi all. I had a lot going on, and before I knew it, a year had gone by. I knew there would be stretches where I couldn't get much translating done, but I never meant to leave the project without updates for so long.
I'm setting a short-term goal of reaching the halfway point of Maiya's route by the end of September.
Some people asked about a partial patch download. Here are three files you can copy to your already existing Saimin Yuugi install if you want to test it:
    https://mega.nz/file/pIpSjL7K#ygSQKnwnNVdE_FQ0s_Rr4sR7e9Wjcl-VT_DjLpQI7gA (催眠遊戯.exe - UI translation)
    https://mega.nz/file/UdgGiRCA#DM6mm3h42KfbVZMUN_pRt8c1ys8r99AbnnbMj1JpmGQ (data8.pack - UI translation)
https://mega.nz/file/9A5AyC6a#vaBuR4FcGcReYkf2jmPyIHVuTcHaKghp442kVktf_YQ (data6.pack - Scenario translation -- common route + maiya only for now)
The first file replaces the game executable. The second two go in the 'GameData' subdirectory, replacing the existing data6.pack file. I recommend backing up the files before overwriting. Full credit to fallingdown for the UI translation. A patch installer isn't on the todo list until at least one route has been translated.

Ottes reacted to Legendary No-Con in Snow Fan Translation RELAUNCHED
Hello friends! This is newly formed translation group Snowy Ryujin TL, and we have decided that after 18 years of going untranslated, we're gonna try our hand at developing a fan translation of the Studio Mebius VN, Snow
My name's Rinny, and you might recognize me from being the Project Lead & Editor for the Summer Pockets, Angel Beats 1st Beat and Miazora Fine Days projects. If there's one VN I've been absolutely dying to not only read myself but bring to English ever since I entered the VN scene, it's this one.

    The Visual Novel:
"The story of Snow starts when the main protagonist Izumo Kanata visits a small village called Ryujinmura (village of the dragon god) to help his cousin Tsugumi manage a local hotel with hot springs. In the village there is an old legend: In ancient times, the village is protected by the dragon goddess. However, one day the dragon goddesses fell in love with a human, which is strictly forbidden, and this incident finally caused the village to be always covered by snow after that. The game then tells the daily life of the protagonist in the village, and finally links the story to the legend of dragon goddess."

    The Project:
Snow is a Nakige released way back in 2003, and has gained a bit of a reputation as an enigma. Many who have played it claim it is good, some even say one of the best, yet all these years later it is not only hard to acquire, but there's been next to nothing on any sort of fan translation. We aim to change that. This translation will also be of the "Plus Edition" of Snow, which contains full voices and an extra route. This is an 18+ version of the game.
    Team Members:
The squad currently consists of myself, Mhmd, Takafumi and Waffletown. I'll be leading the project, handling PR and updates, as well as assisting with QC and text editing. Mhmd will be handling the translating, though we're absolutely open to more potential translators joining up to split the workload, since it's a big VN. Takafumi is our fearless image editor, as he's got plenty of RLDev and photo editing experience, and Waffletown will be handling the first run of QC and text editing.
    Progress:
    Overall - 5394/78154 || 6.9% Complete
    Common Route - 5394/13726 || 39.29% Complete
    Asahi Route - 0/10054
    Sumino Route - 0/9922
    Legend Route - 0/8034
    Shigure Route - 0/10744
    Ouka Route - 0/15683
    Meiko Route - 0/9991
    Recruitment:
Right now, we're open to a second translator joining the project, but for now, we're all set!
    Contact Info:
If you have questions or wish to join the project, you can message me here or contact me at LegendaryNoCon#0558 on Discord! The latter method is much more preferable, as I have the mobile app and will therefore be able to talk with people both at home and away. Right now we're only looking for anyone who might like to join as a second translator, so if you're interested, hit us up!

This week on Thursday (April 8th) Musicus! the final game of the VN developer Overdrive is going to release. So I thought we could need a new thread with all information in one place.
You can find the Mangagamer version here (NSFW!)

And the Steam version can be found here:
    https://store.steampowered.com/app/1418180/

And here is the official Japanese website: (Where the translation of the game was originally "leaked" long before Mangagamer officially announced the title. ^^)
    https://musicus.over-drive.jp/

The Steam version will be censored and the 18+ scenes removed. And there won't be any replacement scenes like there are sometimes with console All-Age releases. From what I heard it is going to be a fade to black with a sentence telling the player what happened.  But you can find a patch for the Steam version on the Mangagamer store page for Musicus.

And on the Mangagamer Blog we got the first character introduction for the main protagonist. There should be more of those posts hopefully before the release.
And if you want to listen to OST of this music themed VN you can get a taste on YouTube:
The same channel has more of the soundtrack uploaded.

    Walkthrough:
And for those that are looking for a walkthrough I have some general information from SSparks31 of the QA team for Musicus from the Discord. Although you could consider them a minor spoiler, so take a look at them on your own risk. The route structure doesn't seem to be too complicated so a blind playthrough shouldn't be a problem.

And here is a the full english walkthrough/guide courtesy of threepwood007:
And finally there is the Japanese Seiya-Saiga walkthrough: (Altough I would recommend the english walkthrough above for those that read the english translation!)

And with that out of the way I wish everyone a good time with this VN.

    Secret Project 1 - Ren'ai Karichaimasta

Because of his family's unique circumstances, the only thing Yuki put his faith in was that "Money will make my little sister happy." To this end, he regularly worked a part-time job until late at night.

His goals were to graduate as soon as possible and get a full-time job. But, one day as he was leaving for work, his little sister told him, "If Yuki isn't going to college then I won't either." He knew he couldn't put such a burden upon his little sister.

So, in order to gather the necessary sum of money to enter university, Yuki signed up for a "human employment rental" website. It seemed extremely suspicious, but desperate times call for desperate measures.

He starts his new job...and for some reason, a girl in his class asks him to be her pretend-boyfriend. Then he's hired to pretend to be a woman's lover, another girl's friend, and even the older brother to a pair of twins!

The details of his fake relationships with these girls begins as soon as he takes their money!
Secret Project 2 - Cafe Stella to Shinigami no Chou

Takamine Kousei was living a carefree college life until, one day, he tragically died in an accident. But then, the bizarre happened: Takamine Kousei opened his eyes again. And what's more, when he woke up, it was the morning of the very day he had died. He proceeded to relive the same day, unable to grasp the reality of his situation. Kousei soon realized that his previous experience was not some prophetic dream, nor was he experiencing deja vu; everything was taking place the exact same way.

Overwhelmed by fear due to the unbelievable situation he has found himself in, he came back to the place where he had died. Then, at the moment of the accident, Kousei met a death goddess accompanied by a talking cat. The death goddess informed him that he has not yet avoided his death. In order to escape his grisly fate, Kousei must assist the death goddess with her work. And naturally, this means the opening of a café together.

By rewinding the world, Kousei may have overcome his fate for now, but can he overcome the certain death his future holds for him? This is the story of one man's love and his defiance of the world and his own fate... maybe?
    Secret Project 3 - Sugar * Style

Spring needs to be a more fun season!!!

Getting deceived by an evil woman, having a had debt made by my parents who ran away at night... After a consecutive streak of trouble I was unable to decide on what to do after graduating. But then, I was helped by my kind relatives who introduced me to a local specialty school where I enrolled.

"This time I'll will enjoy my life!!"
And full of expectation in my chest, I reached the "Hidamari Dorm".

It turned out that it was a dorm where only women live in. It must be the place for my fateful encounter...! Is what I thought, but naturally, everyone was wary of me as the only man...!
But I won't give up...! This time, this spring, I will definitely enjoy myself!!

Sora began broadcasting with the radio left to him by his father.

The next day, after his first rocky broadcast, a mysterious message is picked up by the radio.

"This is a follow-up report on the Firmament's fall on August 1st. The death of a civilian named Yamanashi Sora has been confirmed at the former site of Terminal 1. A number of injured people has also been confirmed in Nariyama's International Sky Academy."

It’s a radio broadcast from the future.

    “I'll... die in three weeks...?”

After listening to the ominous broadcast, Sora steps into the terminal for the first time in fifteen years. It was the former gateway to Japan, the same place where Sora lost his parents. The building was in ruins, a shadow of its former glory, now a nest to countless artificial pigeons. There, Sora meets a silver-haired maiden. She looks straight at Sora, gently brushing a still artificial pigeon's head with her finger.

    "...You won't die."

The girl says calmly while Sora stands dumbfounded.

    "Because I have decided so."
“Because I want you to.... look up at the sky and smile, Sora.”

This is how Yamanashi Sora and Hazuki Kaguya met.
Secret Project 5 - Aoi Tori

    November, winter.
Sitting at the base of two mountains is Kirihara Academy, an all-girls Christian boarding school.
Men are normally forbidden on the premises, with the sole exception being the protagonist Shiratori Ritsu, who both attends the academy as a student and serves as a priest.

Ritsu has the power to bring "bliss" to anyone he touches, with the potency being higher if it's sexual in nature.
He's targeted by demons for having this miraculous power, and has never once left the academy.
The girls consider him an "angel", with many coming into his carnal embrace in search of "bliss".

Burdened by the sin of killing one of these girls, Ritsu vowed to put others' happiness above all else.

Caught in a chaotic mix between the pure and the obscene, Ritsu spends his days on the precipice of insanity.
That would soon change, however, with the arrival of a single girl.
The curtain of our story rises, and Mary Harker, a vampire at the end of her hundred-year long journey, takes the stage.

Sharing the spotlight with her, is the voice of a demon on the other side of the phone.

Can the power of "miracles" really bring people happiness?
What is the value of being born into this world?

This is a story of life woven with words of prayer--
PS - First of all I like the announcements very much and I look forward to Sugar * Style release at April 30th later even though apparently it's less good compared to either Fureraba or Makeover. While Cafe Stella here is sort of predictable, I'm still look forward to the release of it. Good job that Laplacian got Nekonyan to license Mirai Radio, and perhaps Nekonyan here might be the one who'll license Aojashin even though apparently Laplacian will try to going independent there. Karichaimasta here looks like Sukiren in that it'll full of comedy or something like that, although looks like it'll be better compared to Sukiren. Lastly Purple Software here is really flexible when it come to localization partner, and I'll look forward to the eventual release of Aoi Tori.
