Looks like you're almost at Operation Ouka. Have fun!

Yeah visual novels have always known to be very long in in terms of length. For example, Fate Stay Night is more than 1 million words in length, which is more than twice the length of the Lord Of The Rings trilogy. This is why it can take much longer for people to finish a visual novel as compared to a standard novel. I used to frequently read standard novels a few years ago (when I was 13-15) and I could finish a trilogy within a day. Meanwhile, a very long visual novel which is over 50 hours in length will usually take me at least a week to complete, provided that I dedicate all my time to it (which is about 10-12 hours). If you are looking for a wordy vn, I think it would be Higurashi as it took me months to complete it (though to be fair, I didn't dedicate much time at one go in the earlier half of the game).

You're not at Episode 10, are you? In that case, you still have a long way to go.

No I think he was referring to Operation 21st.
    Operation Ouka comes much later.

Oh yes, i forgot that the existing 18+ patch by Amaterasu Translations isn't compatible with the Steam version, my bad. In that case, go ahead with the all ages version.

Yeah pretty much. The patch only uncensors stuff for the first h scene and completely removes the second h scene. However, I find the first h scene to have lots of impact so if you view them uncensored, you might feel the full effect of it. But then again, I only played the 18+ version so I wouldn't know if that scene had as much impact in the all-ages version as it did in the 18+ version so take my advice with a grain of salt

anything below 5 is utter trash. I rarely rate anything 10 unless it had some sort of emotional impact on me. Plot twists and incredible character development won't be enough to convince me to rate a vn 10 unless it makes me cry, which is why to this day, I've rated only 1 vn a perfect 10.

Yeah there isn't much you missed on, so you should be fine. However, I think you may want to apply the 18+ patch on Alternative, for full impact (though it's optional). Moving on, I'm sure you will enjoy Alternative more. If Unlimited is a good production, then Alternative is a godly masterpiece. If you thought Unlimited was depressing enough, wait till you finish Alternative . Since you're playing the Steam version, I suppose you won't be witnessing wonderful Engrish. Oh wells

I picked muv luv alternative up in the sale a couple of weeks ago, and omg why have I put off reading this vn for so long!?? Actual spoilers:
The story is getting dark, real dark and I'm typing this as I wait for my kids to sleep, eagerly waiting to continue this journey. That image though, and that sound...

Thank you for the advice! I've kind of been all over Asia and America, mostly the big cities. LA, Honolulu, Chicago, Seoul, Tokyo, Shanghai and in a few months, Saigon. (I've visited Saigon before) Honestly, it's fun now, but I feel like it would grow old in a few years.
My SO has been to Hong Kong, but I have not :3 And no, I don't think your question was too personal. My life is pretty much an open book.
Thanks so much for the list of games! I'll have to check out Code Realize. I played Mystic Messenger a bit, but honestly, because I spent a great deal of my childhood and adult life in Korea, I don't find the setting or the characters very interesting. I've dated Korean guys (I went to college in Seoul, actually met my SO in Seoul) and most of them were...not as dashing as the k-dramas make them seem. So, MM was kind of ruined for me :/

Welcome! Since you like otomes, I've filtered a list of otomes for you which should catch your interest. My personal recommendations are Code Realize if you have money to spare and Mystic Messenger if you don't. It isn't often that we get new female users but nevertheless, I hope you enjoy your stay here!

The routes for Sumika and Meiya absolutely need to be played in order to fully enjoy Alternative. Miki's route and Ayamine's route do not have much bearing on Alternative, though they do provide some background info for 2 side characters in Alternative (Sagiri,Miki's dad). The other routes are just unnecessary.
Since you will be moving on to Unlimited, I recommend playing just one route for one of the students (I chose Meiya since she's my fav along with Sumika). Yuuko's route is optional.
As for Alternative, route choice doesn't really matter.

I'm finally done with Fata Morgana no Yakata. Phew, that was one heck of a wild ride; now I can't wait for the translation for the fandisc to be released (which I presume will be released soon so hooray )

Extra initially makes you take all the little things for granted and complain about all the cliches, Unlimited completely changes the atmosphere and Alternative just breaks you apart. You'll definitely be rewarded...with PTSD, that is.

Phenomeno is something you really should read. At least for me,the horror factor here is higher than that of most of the so-called horror vns like saya no uta and higurashi, despite its apparent lack of plot development (since the VN was only meant for the promotion of the original LN series). More importantly, it's the shortest vn I've read (took me about 1.5h to complete) so it should be sufficient to last through your date.

I really want to say Kagami Sumika and Shirogane Takeru from the Muv Luv series, but since I can't say much without spoiling pretty much everything from the series, I will go with my next favourite pairing.
Vote: Emiya Shirou and Matou Sakura from the Fate series. Emiya Shirou is your typical weak-and-useless protagonist at the start, with his ideals of wanting to save everyone and recklessness always getting himself into deep trouble.
However, in the Heavens Feel route, once he starts to fall in love with Sakura, he gradually starts to change his ways, and this is especially evident when Sakura starts to change for the worse. By doing what he did for Sakura, he risked sacrificing the lives of thousands of others, thus effectively throwing away his ideals, which is to save everyone.
Even when he finds out about Sakura's past, not only does he not turn away from Sakura, but he embraces her more.
Anyways, here are some images of Sakura and Shirou:

As far as I can tell (but I'm not security expert, just an amateur programmer and malware enthusiast) all tunneling viruses are stealth viruses, but not all stealth viruses are tunneling. The correct answer as it's described by the question would be C for me.

I'm not really a fan of rating numerically any piece of media as I feel any score I could give would be off. But if you insist, I guess I would give it something between an 8 and 9 out of 10. Those two extra points correspond to the poorly paced slice of life bits and to some "plotholes" (more like things left unexplained, not really plotholes per se) that, as Dreamysyu said, could've been perfectly explained with an 1 hour more worth of reading. I should clarify that I've never rated anything in my life a 10/10, so it goes without saying that I personally consider Ever17 a really good VN
Oh, and thank you for the info about Muv-Luv! Thing is, I already purchased it some time ago

Wow a kamige right after another? You're on a roll here. If you hadn't gotten Muv Luv yet, you should get it on Steam soon because there's a 30% off sale for both Muv Luv and Muv Luv Alternative which will end on 8 March.
How much would you rate Ever17? I rated it a 9 because it had some of the best plot twists I've ever seen in a vn and the ending was wrapped up nicely, even though it did take quite some time for the pace to pick up
