Play Muv Luv, then Muv Luv Alternative. You should never skip a sequel before reading a prequel, even if said prequel is not as good as the sequel. As others have mentioned, the Muv Luv series is supposed to be experienced as a whole. Even if Muv Luv Alternative works well on its own, its emotional impact is far greater if you had read Muv Luv.

NA: 1 roll (tickets) got me scathach, ishtar, merlin, musashi while a fairly recent 10-pull got me Waver. JP: I've never gotten a single SSR from 1 roll. All my SSRs came from 10 rolls. So I prefer 1 roll in NA, and 10 rolls in JP.

Iirc, the only difference between Hinae's Bad End and Normal End is the epilogue. The former doesn't have it, while the latter has it. The other routes have more notable differences between the bad ends and the normal ones though; it's only Hinae's route which is the exception.

Reading the original Chaos Head should be more than enough preparation for Chaos Child. I had no problems with Chaos Child, despite only reading the original Chaos Head

Finally completed Chaos Child. I really enjoyed most of the routes, but the True End felt like a punch to the gut (though it does shed some light on the Chaos Child syndrome). I'm not quite sure how I'm supposed to feel about it, since I was expecting more from the True End. Got JTR in the GSSR and so now I finally have a ST Assassin. Now I think I'm gonna skip the Hassan banner and save for someone else (probably Cu Alter)

Finally resumed Chaos Child and now at Chapter 5. So far I've been enjoying it. As compared to Chaos Head, the atmosphere is better; the protagonist is more tolerable and there are more lighthearted moments. I also like the fact that skipping text won't actually skip the Delusional Triggers unlike in Chaos Head. Anyway, based on the information I have so far, I have a theory as to who the culprit is. I'm probably grasping at straws here though. Chaos Child Spoilers (with minor Chaos Head spoilers):

Yeah I suppose bond of marriage is the closest thing to a true end that root letter has. Generally I wouldn't recommend skipping any of the routes (since you can't actually say you completed the game without actually completing it), but I leave it up to your own discretion.

If the NA version follows the JP version strictly, then she should be available next month during the New Year Summoning Campaign. If you want more time rolling for her though, then you should probably do it now cos I think she will probably have only a day of single rate-up (where she's the only rate-up SSR) next month.

Saw this on r/visualnovels earlier, and the first thing that came to my mind was, how are they going to make a mystery out of a military-esque VN? I'm looking forward to seeing how this plays out, since I don't think I've read any military VN which tackles mysteries before

Which walkthrough are you following? The steam walkthrough has a few missing choices so it's best if you proceed with caution. As for the SSS system, yeah it's irritating but don't let it get to you too much since the story's pretty good.

Root double is a bit like ever17 but with quite a number of bad ends (though significantly fewer than that of 428). Its bad end system is also a bit like 428, such that it will give you hints as to why you got that particular bad end. The true end isn't as grand as that of ever17 but it's still pretty decent overall so I hope you will enjoy it as much as I did
