Eve: The Fatal Attraction has no rivals this month. Among other masterpieces I'll call Memories Off 2nd. I'll be reviewing Rije ~Saisei no Ubugoe~. 1. Itsuka no Sora いつかの空 [010907] Sweet Basil 1 Our hero is a sophomore college student living by himself. He has a childhood friend that is a girl, but he doesn't have a real girlfriend. His hope of finding someone special is fading away when his part time job eats up his time. Then he meets Eri, who happens to have lost her memory. The encounter with Eri leads our hero towards his destiny and forces him to search for his true identity... System and town real time change impress, but at the expense of game content. Each of seven heroines has only 4-5 events resulting in short individual routes. Voice actors recompensate for that only partially. 2. Love Hina Advance ~Shukufuku no Kane wa Naru kana~ ラブひなアドバンス 祝福の鐘はなるかな [010907] Marvelous Interactive 1 2 In this game, you take the role of Urashima Keitaro, who’s been rejected from entering Tokyo University for the second year running making him, what the Japanese call, a ronin. To make things worse, his parents have kicked him out of his house. Fortunately, his Grandmother owns the nearby inn and Keitaro thought this would be the perfect place to live and work as the landlord. Or so he thought. He finds out that the building is no longer an inn and is in fact a girls’ dorm making him the only guy around! Most guys would kill to live with six cute girls, but if Keitaro’s not careful, this job will kill him… There are English reviews. 3. Furimuite Cool Eye's 振り向いてCOOL Eye’S [010914] Parade School manga research club is in pinch! It only has three members and will have to disband unless two more members are found within a month. Main character should also recruit only among the girls in order not to repeat last year's mistake when a lot of people had to quit the club due to romantic problems. Is it possible to save the club? Unfortunately, scenario is thin, and it's more like fast confession, then H to imbue desire to participate in the club activities. Graphics are beautiful. 4. Ichigo-Da いちご打 [010914] Witch 1 Cafe Milkyway plans to have an event with dessert dishes called, "Strawberry Festival." Remi Tojo designs the special costumes for this event. However, the costumes she designed are very strange, and her co-worker, Sakuya, makes fun of her and her costumes. To get revenge, Remi orders Sakuya to play an evil character called "Ichigon." The Ichigon costume is made of an artificial strawberry, and Remi will eat up the costume every time Sakuya disobeys her orders. This is a story of fighting between Remi, who is nuts about strawberries, and the other Milkyway workers, who hate her strange costumes and try to stop Remi from taking all the strawberries. In the end everything gets to typing strip battle. 5. Prism Sound プリズムサウンド [010914] Airyu Main character tried to gather friends for a band to make "shining sound" together. That dream was forgotten, but now a year later he repeats that attempt. There are very few choices. Unique character design is the main appeal point. Scenario is just right in order not to get bored, but it's mostly thanks to support cast and not the heroines. 6. Review of Brind Summer Vacation レビューオフ Brind Summer Vacation [010914] Sight Main character is an upcoming manga writer with one magical girl story to receive anime adaptation. He organizes a party to meet offline with the fans. Thirteen people have gathered, but even though nicknames are known, noone knows each others faces. What will come out of this party? It's a pure love story about first experience, so with little H and quite a boring overall. There are as many as 12 heroines. Lots of bugs and graphical glitches even with patch applied. 7. Ame Yadori 雨やどり [010918] E.G.O. Time starts to flow very fast with every day being busy and without a moment to spare. Main character sees a girl stilling alone in the rain and lends her a hand. Girl's name is Mio. This is a heartwarming story about three girls with cat ears (plus two normal heroines), but the quantity and darkness of H scenes easily writes this game into nukige department. First five days are given for common route and last five days for heroine route. Quite a specialized work trying to appeal to different players. 8. Prism Palette プリズムパレット [010920] Broccoli A love adventure simulator that follows the adventures of the main character Masaki Shirai while he lives a peaceful school life surrounded by beautiful classmates. A normal school SIM with everyday schedule and stuff. 9. Igougata Kyokuchi Geigeki Tenshi Nanako ~Kaku Tatakaeri, Otome-tachi~ イ号型局地迎撃天使NANAKO～かく戦えり、乙女達～ [010921] Ape & Frog Humans have built a huge defensive city 3000 meters underground to save themselves from mysterious "vector" enemies. However, as resources get exhausted in constant battles, humankind throws last funds into new type of weapon IMA-01 Nanako. This weapon is given to main character as the last hope for survival. RPG with heroines looking like cosplayers. Each day is divided into four sections to perform commands. And there is also H training of girls ... how else would they learn new magic and skills? 10. Little Monica Monogatari リトルモニカ物語 [010921] Rune The town of Little Monica is famous for its vast culture of arts, especially music. Will is an orphan who used to live with his three friends in Little Monica, however he has long since moved out of the town. Many years later, Will decides to go back to the town to see his three friends: Celia, Mei, and Tina. Upon arrival, Will is surprised to discover that Little Monica is no longer the very cultural city it used to be. Instead, no music is allowed in the city... H event triggers the very first day and pretty much every day after that, so it's a nukige under innocent cover. Stupid incidents happen to the sisters like UFO and the like making up for a comedy. In the end it's nothing but an ero-tilt moege. 11. Eve: The Fatal Attraction EVE: The Fatal Attraction [010927] C's Ware 1 "Eve: The Fatal Attraction" is a chapter in EVE series, and is based on the hentai PC game Adam: The Double Factor. Its scenario was expanded in this game up to the point of being a sequel to "Adam". It adds many Eve: Burst Error and Eve: The Lost One references, lots of new events, 2 more days and proper ending to the game. You control the two main heroes of the game, the young careless detective Kojiroh and the sexy red-haired super-spy Marina. The events of the game are connected to their previous investigation (in Eve Burst Error). Kojiroh's ex-girlfriend and colleague, Yayoi Katsuragi, receives a case: somebody is threatening the life of two young girls, Mika and Miki, the daughters of the owner of the powerful Andou Corporation. Naturally, Yayoi needs Kojiroh's help, and here the investigation truly begins! Like in other Eve games, you control two characters in two "scenarios", and sometimes the cooperation between them is necessary. The game utilizes the same "Touchable View" that was implemented in "Adam": you interact with the environment and with the characters not by selecting menu options, but by moving the cursor around and clicking on objects, like in Western point-and-click adventures. I already reviewed the game earlier. 12. Memories Off 2nd [010927] KID 1 2 3 4 5 6 7 The protagonist is a 17-year-old student, Ken Inami, a soccer loving dude who aspires to go to film school. His girlfriend Hotaru Shirakawa also has high aspirations; having played piano ever since she was a child, she aims to go to music school. Ken and Hotaru have been dating for a spell and are at a rocky juncture in their relationship. This is where the game gets interesting. You can either make decisions to salvage Ken's relationship with Hotaru or chase after another girl. There are English reviews. 13. Z.O.E. 2173 Testament ゾーン　オブ　エンダーズ 2173 テスタメント [010927] Konami 1 2 3 4 5 6 7 8 The story is set within the Zone of the Enders universe. It is 2173 and humankind, in the search for a valuable resource called Metatron, has expanded its reaches to Mars and the moons of Jupiter, and full colonies have been established. However, Earth keeps a tight reign over the colonials, known by the derogatory term "Enders", and discrimination is commonplace. Food supplies are short, movement of citizens is controlled, and many Mars inhabitants have tried to rise up against Earth, but to little avail. The game follows the story of a 17-year old boy named Cage Midwell, a worker upon the interplanetary express ship "Bonaparte III" with his close friend (and idol) Ares Enduwa. However, on a routine journey, Cage spots a woman creeping into the cargo holds, and follows her. As he does this, the ship is attacked by a powerful black Orbital Frame. Cage and the girl, who introduces herself as Myona Alderan, climb into a mysterious LEV held within the ship and escape, eventually crash-landing on Mars. They are quickly caught and are accused of being the ones responsible for the crash. On top of this, Myona has completely lost her memory. However, shortly after their imprisonment, they are freed by an "Anti-Terrestrial League" leader called Deckson Geyse. His faction, BIS (Born In Space), quickly come and rescue them, and Cage finds himself caught up in the escalating conflict between Earth and Mars. There are English reviews. 14. Ashita mo Kitto Hare 明日もきっと晴れ♪ [010928] Forte Main character goes to school in a small seaside town. Swimming, sunbathing, culture festival... there are many events to enjoy in summer. Tomorrow will definitely be sunny. Almost zero difficulty, just raising favorability is enough. Genre is comedy. Six heroines overall with short routes and almost no H events. But bonus 7th scenario is unexpectedly good. 15. Crescendo ~Eien Dato Omotte Ita Ano Koro~ Crescendo ～永遠だと思っていたあの頃～ [010928] D.O. 1 2 3 4 5 6 7 8 9 10 11 It's five days before graduation, and Sasaki Ryou is in school, making up the hours needed to graduate with the other members of his class. For Ryou, it's a quiet time to sit and reflect on the past year and all that has happened. As he thinks back on the past year, he remembers all his friends ... Kaho, who dragged him into the literary arts club against his will. Kaho's strange friend Kyouko, who was secretly in love with him. The oddly antisocial Yuka, so cheerful and yet secretly ashamed of something. His step-sister Ayame, who took such good care of him after their parents died. And the sexy school nurse Kaori, who always had a healing word for him. Every day held real experiences leaving real memories ... days he thought would last forever. Boku no Omou Koto 彼女の願うこと。ぼくの思うこと。 [010928] Project-μ 1 Luke lost the vision of his left eye as a child. Although he can't see with that eye, he has the ability to read people's minds. Because of this power, he stays away from society; he gets emotionally disturbed when he reads people's minds. One day however, a young boy named Rickie is reflected in his eye. Rickie is a lost soul wondering around. One day, he meets a girl carrying a black cat. This girl's name is Mikage, and she changes his life. Luke also happens to meet a girl named Mitsuki. He starts to see the world more openly. Luke and Rickie. . . Two boys from parallel dimensions, who eventually merge into one. This is an AVG game using two characters as a single identity. On Rickie's side, there are other characters besides Mikage. You'll find Keri, the girl who looks like Mikage but has a completely different personality, and the mysterious girl, Tory. The new system in this game is called the, "S-Cube system." It's an evolution of digital comics, and it is a completely new system. This is a "new type" of game, not only because of the system, but also because you're using two characters as one identity. If you're looking for something new, this is the game for you! Best thing in the game is theater-imitating ever-changing perspective. Protagonist is divided and main aim of the game is searching for oneself. Game also features many comedy elements even though individual stories are quite dark. An experimental work for those unsatisfied with the state of the industry. 17. Koumaroku 降魔録 [010928] Tama-Soft Legendary spiritual festival "Sekairoko Peak" gathered and sealed a lot of demons in one place. Due to an ancient curse various monster incidents started to occur in the vicinity. Thanks to existence of "demonist" monks curse never spread outside its initial location. Main character is one of demonists who uses his skills to defeat demons. Two women always accompany him in his travels. Any day demon seal may break, and such demon hunters are the only hope of the world. There are only two heroines to capture, but each has lots and lots of H scene patters, including tentacles. The number of endings is four. The actual atmosphere and contents of the game are inspirational and really about demon fighting. Music is great here. It's a chunige, and I like it despite the ero-tilt. 18. Love Negotiator ラブ・ネゴシエイター [010928] Liar-soft AD 2030, place is new capital built at Tokyo Bay. Main character is a romance negotiator who helps shy boys by winning negotiation battles with girls persuading them to pursue romance relations. But one day he gets involved in a huge conspiracy with number of cases piled up and intertwined. It's basically a bakage with negotiation battles. Battles usually have three variants of phrases with some being great choices and some poor ones. Poor choices lead to insult endings, great choices to pure love ones. Composition reminds TV dorama with 7 episodes each featuring a short story. Enjoyable game for bakage enthusiasts. 19. Miracle Twins: Koi no Mahou o Anata ni みらくるツインズ 恋の魔法を貴方に [010928] Future A town engulfed in evil atmosphere. But in the mids of it is a guardian angel girl who protects the town. She is a usual girl who found a magical item to turn into a warrior of justice. For that reason she is targeted by evil forces. Together with main character and another girl able for transformation they fight for the peace of this town. A comedy with crisp H scenes. Battles are made in janken type - attack, defense, magic. There are seven chapters, but overall operation is heavy. First six chapters are complimentary comedies, and seventh is suddenly serious development. Animation is used wisely. 20. Rije ~Saisei no Ubugoe~ リジェ ～再生の産声～ [010928] Sarang 1 Rosu is a sleepless city where many kinds of people gather seeking fame and fortune. Even though the city is losing its main industry, it's still bustling. It is rumored that the city makes its money by drug trafficking as well as from a secret national arms fund. Kyoichi Koga establishes a private police station in Rosu. He used to be a policeman, but he became a private detective after being dismissed from the police force. One day, Kyoichi receives an e-mail, insinuating that a bloody event will occur. He begins research on a 23-year old tragedy without knowing that it is the beginning of the present disappearances throughout the city. You'll be able to play with four beautiful girls: 'Kaoru,' the daughter of Kyoichi's boss, 'Reika,' an executive member of a religious group, 'Maki,' a practicing magician, and 'Chihiro,' a medical student. Try to clear all the girls by going through various situations, such as pure love, rape, gang rape, and so on! This game has multiple endings. You'll be able to play with another character after clearing the first character. The story has an 'investigation part' and a 'truth part.' In the 'investigation part,' you'll go to many places and talk with many people. You have to be careful with your time because certain events happen at a certain time. As a result of the 'investigation part,' the 'truth part' will appear. Your actions in the first part will directly affect the ending! What tragedy occurred 23 years ago? Will Kyoichi be able to solve the disappearances? A hard-boiled detective adventure, but with a definite erotic tilt. Somehow it becomes a general thing that hard boiled adventures have to deal with prostitutes and insults which in the end devaluates the story and the genre as a whole. On the positive side game features film technique of zooming and scrolling which also adds up to decadent world atmosphere. 21. V.G. Re-birth [010928] Giga A visual novel game in which the player plays the part of a reporter working on a story about the V.G. competition. The game also introduces the new character Sakuragi Hiyori. Depending on the choices the player makes, he/she will be paired with Yuka, Tamao or Reimi. V.G. Rebirth Dash: An update to V.G. Rebirth which includes nearly every other non-boss character (Yuuki Ayako is absent as she is a lesbian) as an option to pair with the player. It also introduces the new character Hatano Keiko. For that advances fighting woman theme for sex appeal. It's more like a fan story - to be able to talk to heroines from previous haves. Scenario is very short and is over upon tournament win. 22. Odeon [010929] BOKU 1 One day a girl starts to awaken to her own fate. Even if that fate may be too harsh for that frail body of hers... A woman singing in the Roman-era Odeon (circular concert hall). A secret is now hidden under the remnants of that Odeon that has been exposed to the harsh weather all this time. A mysterious human race that has come to Earth from somewhere else. Can that girl be a reincarnation of the songstress Mirei? In the flow of time an ancient phantasm nobody remembers reoccurs again. Where is humanity guided to? Past and present intersect here... Game resembling Experiments Lain in concept, design and atmosphere. There are many short stories (memories) in each chapter, and player accesses them in random order. But complex composition and darker themes make game difficult to read. Another experiment that can be treated in both favorable and bashing way. BLOCKED 1. A very pretty girl comes along and offers him a handkerchief and even some "comfort". He was very smitten by how pretty she was and went into a lovehotel with her. Only to find out that "she" is actually a "he". Yui also finds out that his name is Runa and he was conceived in secret by a famous actress. Runa knows that his father is a famous actor and he wants Yui's help to meet with him. But if the media finds out about Runa's existence, there will be a huge scandal. Boys Love 5. Tenshi-tachi no Gogo - Season 2001 天使達の午後 SEASON 2001 [010907] Purple Tenshitachi no Gogo takes place in a Japanese high school. The goal is to seduce the star girl of the tennis club, Shiraishi Yumiko. To do this, the player needs to go around talking with her friends and possibly getting intimate with them as well. Nukige 6. Chobits Adventure チょびっつあどべんちゃー [010908] Digital Aniki A fan-fiction VN based on the anime/manga Chobits. Doujin 7. Shinju no Toiki 唇濡の吐息 [010912] Ichi Hime Main character receives a letter from his sister saying that she is forced to work at some mansion for three years to return father's debt. Main character never heard of the debt and the debt company, so he leaves the house and hurries to the rescue. Nukige 8. Evergreen Avenue エバーグリーン・アベニュー [010913] Vridge Inc. In a huge mansion live a gentle boy and an ambitious poor girl who won't be discouraged by her circumstances. You can choose between these two contrasting characters to interact with the various individual spirits in this raising simulation game. Man and woman, two girls, and two guys combinations are possible, but there are no love developments, to the end it stays a game about friendship. Otome 9. Cushion Ｃｕｓｈｉｏｎ～クッション～ [010914] Seiju Main character lives together with Yuki, but such situation starts to annoy. Love is what's desired... Boys Love 10. Hai Kamuri Hime no Yuuutsu 灰被り姫の憂鬱 [010914] MBS Truth 1 There is a prestigious ceremony/festival that comes once a year where a young woman is chosen to be the “Princess” of the event. Our protagonist in this game happens to be the one and only judge, and being thus he makes the girls do many unspeakable things. Nukige 11. ~Ikusei Mahjong~ Mahjong Yuugi ～育成麻雀～麻雀遊戯 [010914] Waffle Main character returns to home town and joins mahjong school club where his old friend presides. They start preparing for the national mahjong tournament. Card game 12. Level F レベル-F [010914] Uncanny! A certain facility built in the back of the hospital. Girls with sealed memories are imprisoned there. Main character is summoned to awaken their memories so that truth is born. Nukige 13. Ryoujoku Kikou 陵辱奇行 [010914] Touchy Main character falls unconsciousness during part-time job and is taken to a hospital. He is announced that he is going to die of incurable disease within a year. After returning home he finds a letter with a special camp trip ticket as a prize won in some magazine. He has nothing to lose, so he sets up a malicious plan how to have fun even if costs his life as a result. Nukige 14. Shizumanai Tsuki 沈マナイ月 [010914] Vega 1 It all started with a brutal rape case somewhere in Tokyo. The chaotic rapists traumatize Akira and Satsuki. The rapists call themselves "the Moon Phase," and are led by Mitsuru, who's obsessed with hurting people. Akira and Satsuki are victimized in simple "playing around." They don't realize that this incident will change their lives forever. The player can experience this story from a total of eight different points of view. A new character choice will be available every time the player clears the story with one character. By playing the eight different characters, the player can collect missing pieces of the puzzle to solve this erotic, yet, suspenseful event! Nukige 15. Velvet Echo ヴェルベットエコー [010914] Angel Smile 1 Junichi's father was a scientist studying paranormal activities. He unexpectedly passes away, leaving Junichi all alone. Junichi is really depressed, but one day, a demon suddenly appears. This demon promised his father that she would take care of Junichi. Her name is Celena. She brings her two extremely sexy daughters along. They barge their way in and begin living with Junichi. No matter how pretty they are, the fact is: they are devils, and devils perform demonic acts. How is this going affect Junichi's normal life? Runa is deeply interested in humans, and Junichi reminds Celena of her long-lost son she loved so much. Soon after the appearance of these sexy demons, Junichi's childhood friend, Itsuki, becomes wild for him. Other characters in the game are Yu, who loves to study paranormal activities, and Runa's little sister, Rona. Darling Darling～ダーリン～ [010928] Cherry Soft Jun is a comic artist who is never afraid to put in a hard day of work. Naturally, he authors pornographic comics. He's been given a monumental deadline, but he has a special power allowing him to work at hyper speed as long as he is aroused. Lucky for him, his assistant Miyuki is also his wife and she's ready to give him a hand with work. Nukige 19. Deep Fantasy [010928] Selen Island Seasus stays with the southern part cursed and northern part shredded by the dragon. Southern part grew and developed while north drowned in conflict and ruin. Rulers of the South searched for a maiden to lift the curse and managed to take two royal blood princesses captive during the first war. Detection [010928] eelcom Main character is a detective who mostly does cheating investigations and inquiries of malfunctioning office workers. One day he gets an unusual request that he solves in just one day. But that was just beginning of this case .... Nukige 21. Escape [010928] Adel Majima Yamato is a typical high school student. Despite being only in second year of HS, he is living on his own since he couldn't get along with his new step-father. His mother showed no love towards him and his relationship with his kind, older step-brother was awkward. He has been alone for a while. However, there are alot of people out there and a new school year is also starting. Depending on your choice, maybe he will find a new love..... Boys Love 22. Harukanaru Toki no Naka De 2 遙かなる時空の中で２ [010928] Koei Taking place 100 years after the first game, the country of Kyou is in turmoil because of a power struggle going on between the emperor and the retired emperor, and the people of Kyou are falling into desperation, fearing the coming of the end of the world. Karin, a modern-day high school girl, is summoned to be the Priestess of the Dragon God who will save Kyou. However, there is a priestess who has been recognized by the retired emperor, and the eight men chosen as Karin's Hachijou (her bodyguards) do not believe that Karin is really the priestess. Otome 23. Hina ~Ippai Daisuki~ ヒナ～いっぱい大好き～ [010928] Optim Main character lives alone while attending part-time work. One day father brings a clone girl to protagonist's home saying that girl is needed for secret laboratory research and should hide at some safe place for a while. Girl does not know anything about life - what are the first things to teach her? Nukige 24. Kango Nisshi Mania 看護日誌マニア [010928] Chiffon Main character becomes president's secretary and moves to a Western-style mansion. Foreword: I have a very strange history with Bittersweet Fools. I started playing it about two years ago, and finished it only a year later. But the most important question is why this first minori game neglected that much? I believe I know the answer to this question. Structure: 22 chapters Length: Some 30 hours Game type: Mafia in the hiding slice-of-life Difficulty: Easy. There is just one choice that leads to a dead end, and the rest only determine additional scenes and CG. Character Design rating: 6/10 Protagonist rating: 6/10 Story rating: 7/10 Game quality: 6/10 Overall rating: 6/10 After all, I can't write a proper structured review of this game, mostly because I finished it about a year ago and also because I had huge pauses between the chapters. Here's my full story about it. First I read couple chapters in Japanese back then and was totally confused by this game. It was a horrible experience. Ugly sprites, bad game system, no voicing, lack of action on the screen. I just could not get characters seriously. Then I installed the English patch for the first chapter, and thanks to first chapter in English I actually got some charm of the game and could at least start focusing on ugly drawn characters. I could not force myself to play after several chapters, so it was put on hold at my notebook. Then one day I had power outrage, and there was little else to do but to play the only game I had at notebook at that time - Bittersweet Fools. It was also the game that got me drowsy in no time. Then at the next power cut I went on with the story and so on. Just imagine the number and longevity of power shutdowns at my place if I was able to invest about 30 hours into this game! It's unbelievable, but I was still able to finish the game - but I wouldn't be under normal circumstances, because it's a hellishly long story about nothing. Mafia gang just sits at a conspiration flat, and every time they go out for a walk they find some trouble. That's the plot for 21 horribly long chapters! And in the last chapter they try to run away and face rival gang finally. Sprites drawing is appalling, and CG only happen once per several hours. I read some impression somewhere that it's high literature here, so common folks won't be able to enjoy it. And it may indeed be so! Text here is indeed very well written, slice-of-life scenes are pleasant to read. But I'm absolutely sure that it's impossible to enjoy them in PC versions, because without voicing situations here feel artificial. But then I learned that PS2 and DC versions have voicing, and changed my view on the game entirely. With voicing I can finally enjoy slice-of-life scenes that provide for 95% of the game time. So I tried to play this game again with voicing and translation... but miserably failed at that. PS2 version can not be hooked, since there are text threads, but no memory threads for changing text found, and it's totally not worth it to find each phrase manually. With DC version I was able to get text only with Demul emulator. I perfectly see changing text memory threads here, but there's another problem - Demul just shuts down my pc in 5-10 minutes time. I tried different versions, plugins, overclocking, but pc still shuts down when memory threads are parsed by Cheating Engine + Hook any text. Without memory hooking it seems to work normally (but I did not check for longer times). And that fiasco made me include not my video playthrough link, but some Japanese one. I believe that voice version is the ONLY way this game can be enjoyed, thus there are so few reviews. PC version is plain bad, and Repackage version from 2005 is humiliating since it's not a reverse port from PS2 or DC, but the same 2001 PC zero voice version just with music repacked. So it's actually a very sincere good game that's never going to be appreciated in the West, because of minori attempts to have nothing to do with the West ever by keeping console releases only for consoles and suing anyone trying to patch their games. Game title really suits minori following policy.

Cast! -Private Heroine- CAST！-プライベートヒロイン- [010802] Bell-Da 1 Takumi Ogata enters Wakasagi-Gakuin, a school majoring in entertainment, to pursue his career as a writer. He meets three cute and aspiring actresses: The reliable and confident Akane, the shy and childish Saya, and the proud but gorgeous Mitsuru. Takumi decides to form a theatre with these unique and very talented girls. They begin to prepare a play for the school festival, which will be held in October. Takumi falls in love with one of the girls as he writes and directs the play by himself. Unlike all those "get your favorite girl" games in the past, this is a game of love in progress, which means you have to develop the relationship between your favorite character and the hero. The new feature called "Story Edit Mode" lets the player choose the lines of the female characters in order to make your own storyline. The player also needs to take care of "night life" with the girls as well as daily conversations to get the best results! There are three heroines, and one playthrough is just 2 hours. Picking right lines for the right scene make the bulk of daytime gameplay, H events occupy night time. Another unsatisfactory game from Bell-Da as it tries to catch mainstream by changing graphics and type to suit more people. 2. Particularly one district of the newly built Izanami City seems suspicious. Kento Rando, a high school student and an apprentice detective, is given a mission to investigate the mysterious case. Seigai High School is going to be the principal area of investigation. Needless to say that in order to solve the case, Kento will have to find the best strategy talking to the beautiful high school female students... Kaen Seibo is a Japanese-style adventure which relies largely on conversations and the choices you make during them. However, the game also contains elements of Western-style adventuring. There are items that must be found, picked up and used at appropriate moments. There are areas where you can move through a 3D-like environment, viewing it from first-person perspective. During the dialogues, you also have commands that are accessible through a menu. There are also segments with a time limit. Quite simplistic Dreamcast exclusive. 3. There's not a single impression found - and that's says a lot as well. 6. Alone Again [010810] BeF Main character is a student who has been a friend with a girl for over a year. However, when he confesses, he is rejected with words "I am alone. I live by myself. Forget about it". It does not mean she does not like main protagonist. But is there a way to change her life principle? Scenario is extremely short and is over in just 1.5 hours. Atmosphere is good, but there's not enough time and story feels incomplete. There are five heroines, each with three H events. BeF is known for its unique graphic style, and this work seems to exist just to take advantage of graphics. 7. Fight! Makoto ファイト！まこと [010810] Powered Main character enters a theater club "Makoto" at school, but is confused for a girl. He wants to quit it at once, but all the beautiful girls there pique his interest. Heavy system, SIM elements, puzzles and lots of other elements contribute to the kusoge status of the game. 8. Kairyuu no Uzu 戒流の渦 [010810] Raziel A young man of Uniconian tribe is running away from humans. He regains consciousness in the church among nuns. He is picked up because resembles a childhood friend of one nun. The young man tries to live in this church to get away from racial prejudice and to atone for his sin of killing a human. A story with heartwarming first half, serious heroine routes and surprisingly unhappy ending. Scenario is thin, and one playthrough is over in just two hours. 9 Teito Gensou 帝都幻想 [010810] Dall Main character decides to investigate rumors about strange sounds at school at night. As a result he teleports to a different world and gets involved in a conflict between the imperial army and the resistance. 3D dungeon exploration with lots of H events triggered. 10. Kagetsu Tooya 歌月十夜 [010813] Type-Moon 1 2 3 4 One year after the events of Tsukihime, Shiki Tohno is a victim of an accident. After this accident, Shiki awakens into a strange dream wherein he repeats the same day over and over. There are infinitely many endings to the day, but it always begins anew after each day. Eventually, Shiki discovers that he must find Len, the creator of the dream, if he wishes to escape. There are English reviews. 11. Dousoukai Refrain 同窓会refrain [010824] F&C FC01 New Year's Eve, one and a half a year after the events of Dousoukai. Main character gathers members of tennis club to have the end of the year party. They visit their friend's rock band "XAX" live after the banquet. The gig raises enthusiasm, and just as clock strikes 12, the first snow of the year starts, and old feelings revive in hearts. Game is initially issued as a doujin, and that explains the quality of the game. The content is no way on par to Dousoukai franchise. Pretty much just a moege with emphasis on H. 12. Another one from the right, blocking the left side of the body, quickly regain stance on the left, press on with the right. There's one coming on the left side, cross both your hands, and then quickly follow with a left uppercut to decide the match... But then... Our protagonist, Yukimura Yukinojou, who just completed his transfer to Kashima school, unexpectedly helped his brand new classmate, Kasuga Serina, from the assault of delinquents on her way home. The school festival is just around the corner, the hectic atmosphere is present everywhere, thus Serina and her friends enlist him to help too. Thankfully, all the effort Serina put into it paid off, brought everyone together in such a short time, and the school festival went by with success. But, just when he was about to think that such a daily life isn't so bad, a girl from his past appeared before him, and before soon started to reveal the reasons he moved away and transferred schools. Not displaying any emotion openly, Yukinojou has his heart sealed that he blames himself for all those events, and gets driven to the wall. As a matter of fact, a grave accident in the middle of box practice made his best friend lose his consciousness and enter into coma, which resulted in Yukinojou leaving everything behind as he was unable to bear this. And when it finally says that now the story actually starts and actually target some heroine, it's only about 30% of content remains which drives you super fast and non-stop to the end. Atmosphere is good though. 16. Yuuyami no Warabeuta 夕闇の童詩 [010831] En Zashiki Warashi are spirits that have lived alongside humans since ancient times. There is a legend that zashiki can become human if he finds a person who can see and touch him and who can eventually have sex with him. There lives a zashiki boy in search for such human for a long time. Gentle urban atmosphere is the biggest attraction of the game. Scenarios are pretty sad. Such mix of warmth and sadness can be appreciated by many people tired of logic and sophisticated stories. BLOCKED 1. Foreword: It's a non-voiced nakige, so I'm ill-suited to evaluate such game. But it proved to be a masterpiece even in my pretentious eyes. Game does not have a true route, so according to my review codex I only play two routes for such games - one for the heroine that seems to be the main heroine and one for the heroine that I like the most from the rest of the heroines. That's Suzuka and Haruhi routes for me. Three omake side stories are of purely comical nature and are not touched in order not to affect main story impression. But Haruhi route was a total blast easily skyrocketing the score to 8/10 range or even higher. About that further on. Protagonist: Niizawa Yasuomi is a great protagonist due to his prankster nature. He keeps on flipping skirts and setting pranks. His memory problems only occur for the last 1/10th of the game suddenly turning a comedy game into a nakige. Characters: Heroines here belong to distinctive archetypes: childhood friend Suzuka, tsundere Haruhi, quiet weak Wakana, teacher Hiyori, shrine maiden onee-san Uiko. I played only Suzuka and Haruhi routes. Suzuka reminds me main heroine of To Heart Akari the most. Serious and caring, she wakes Yasuomi each morning, cooks for him, all that stuff. Her route had several nice humorous scenes, but overall Suzuka is too kind and forgiving to react at pranks. Her drama part is also forced, fast and without any surprises. But then I played Haruhi route... and that was totally from a different league. As tsundere, she explodes at even the mildest jokes and starts chasing Yasuomi. She's just superfun to play pranks on. Somehow, I'm not tired of tsundere characters yet, and she's less generic tsundere as she does not uses "betsuni" and the like words. She's also really pretty and has both swimming suit and maid themes to develop. Her serious nakige part had an emotional impact on me, especially because her route has two endings with songs in a row very different from each other. That's all I can hint without spoiling much. Story: Just going to school for till some 25th October, then dealing with memory problems. Various events before/during/after school make the bulk of the game. There's just a small touch of madness with mad scientist and his robots. CG: There aren't many CG, but the quality is adequate. Just one H scene per heroine and one common bath scene. Title and Themes: Title only is being hinted in the opening song, but is not reflected during the game. Overall comments: It's a great nakige game with very nice characters, but it's indeed difficult to write about the game. There are couple dozen of Japanese positive reviews, but they are also inarticulate when in comes to explaining why game is good. What I only mean to say is that it's a huge feat to make a masterpiece charage/nakige without voicing, through character traits and jokes alone. The only masterpiece of the month is Cosmos no Sora ni, and YES, I'm going to review a nakige! 1. Nakoruru ~Ano Hito kara no Okurimono~ ナコルル～あのひとからのおくりもの～ [010706] Inter-Let's 1 This game tells the story of one of the characters from SNK's popular fighting series Samurai Spirits: the girl Nakoruru. She comes from Kamuikotan, a small village on Japan's most northern island, Hokkaido, which is populated by Ainu, a nation with its own culture and traditions. The time of the game is set somewhere between the fighting tournaments where Nakoruru participates. She comes back to her home village, but the village elder sense evil, and her friends are worried about her. This is where you enter the picture - you play Mikato, a little girl who was told by the village elder to keep an eye on Nakoruru. The relationship between Mikato, Nakoruru, and other village inhabitants form the core of the game's story. Lots of difficult mini-games. Ending does not change despite flags captured. 8 chapters only enough for 5-6 hours of playtime. OVA is pretty much the same story. 2. Pure ~Pure~ Pure ～ピュア～ [010706] Psycho Main character receives a huge heritage after parents death. He finds a strange girl Yurika in the basement. Girl does not remember anything, and protagonist decides to keep her at his place for the time being. Bakage with lots of parodies, but certain level of industry knowledge is needed to recognize those. Player needs to select map locations, but it's not show who's present where, so it's troublesome. Story is light and non-memorable. 3. Yoshia no Oka de Nekoronde... 吉亜の丘で寝ころんで… [010706] Mesa Main character used to be a best-seller writer, but lost ability to write good stories after getting sexual disability. He decides to go to hot springs resort to find his hidden self and try to get rid of his deficiency. Game is short, and is over after H event with one of seven heroines. What's weird is that heroines are absolutely disposable here, dying on parting afterwards. One route takes an hour, first time slightly more. 4. Echeross えちぇろす [10713] Puchiyu~mi One day main character gets a request from a girl to defeat the alien parasite on the human brain. He initially refuses, but after seeing the effect with his own eyes agrees to save the Earth together. Straightforward fighting game that's over in less than an hour. Gameplay is ok, text and H scenes not so good. 5. Heart Full Calendar はーとFULLカレンダー [10713] Selenade Main character confesses at the time of the graduation ceremony. School bells have marked the beginning of a romance relationship. Cheap game that lasts for a year to experience all the holidays in a relationship with a girl. Scedule of H events, the absence of story and the mediocrity of the gameplay don't leave this game any chances. 6. Nyante Chaton にゃんてCHATON [010719] Rune 1 You've been a doing nothing ever since graduating from high school. One summer day, your father, the owner of a famous restaurant, "Chanter Chaton," orders you to work there. You comply with his orders. "Chanter Chaton" is famous for its taste, the service, and the waitresses' uniforms. The first floor is a simple cafeteria and the second floor has a very strange feeling to it. This restaurant is so popular; it's hard to approach the girls. One way of approaching the girls is to help them out when they make mistakes. This is an adventure game in which you will meet cute girls in cute uniforms working in a restaurant cafe. This game involves using the "Tip" system. Depending on where you (the hero) are assigned to work, you will experience different events. Use the "Tip" system to choose the assignment you want. (Your favorite girl might be there!) There are a total of six girls in this game: Honami Adachi, an idol in training, her friend, Yoshino Watase, the store manager's daughter, Momo Hikone, a college student, Midori Soya, your under-classmate, Riyo Mochizuki, and the head waitress, Futaba Kakegawa. You have a very short amount of time (until your training is over) to win the girl of your dreams. Pia Carrot bad clone. Just a moege with this tips system. Period is only 20 days. 7. Sayonara no Hohoemi 2 ~Kioku no Tsubasa ni Miserarete~ さよならの微笑み2～記憶の翼に魅せられて～ [010719] K'Night! Main characters takes part in a school circle to build a human-powered aircraft for the summer tournament in a month's time. Collision of minds, sour and sweet emotions fill their everyday life. Game with unique atmosphere and lots of gags. There are 14 normal endings and 2 True endings. 8. Tadaima Shugyouchuu! ただいま修行中！ [010719] Fish Cafe Fantasy world filled with magic. Main character shares griefs and joys with village girls and aims to become a real wizard. The actual SIM part is very simple here. You just choose contents of lesson and the girl to study with, and parameters grow equally. Game mostly focuses on everyday life scenes which gets quite annoying by the middle of it. There are 3 heroines + 2 hidden ones. Game period is 10 weeks. 9. Tenteko Onsen Jidaigeki ~Kameya~ てんてこ温泉時代劇 ～亀屋～ [010719] Lily Bell Kenta is the third son who runs a shop in Edo. One day his parents become owners of a bankrupt hot-spring ryokan "Kameya" and insist that Kenta assists them here. Kenta only agrees to leave Edo on condition that he would return if can successfully restore the ryokan in a year's time. Management SIM part is the same in each route and quite simple. But there are as many as 16 (!) heroines, so it's a decisive victory of quantity over quality. 10. Himitsu ~Yui ga Ita Natsu~ 秘密 ～唯がいた夏～ [010726] Merlot 1 Childhood friends, a boy and a girl lose touch over their adolescent years, only to meet up once again as young adults. Similar to the broad storyline found in Love Hina, a vow was made in those early years to find each other as they grow older. Five anime maidens supply the romantic interaction and association in this dating adventure. Wait a minute... it's exactly Tremolo, it even uses same CG. H scenes cut, but it does not make it any different. 11. Missing Blue [010726] Tonkin House 1 At Seiryou high school, second year student Masamura Kouji leads a stready, but busy life, alongside with humble and quiet childhood friend Ritsuki Saya and senior student Nishizuku Ruuna. One day, a transfer student, Kasuga Mizuki, appears and hands over a mysterious crystal while uttering enigmatic words : "Please remember...". While being certain the two of them never met, the main protagonist feels they somehow did. A peculiar connection ? Spiritual successor of L no Kisetsu boasting of up to 100 hours requirement for full completion. But it's academic love story without much excitement or fancy in the plot department. And I wound not want to read the story where hardly anything happens for dozens of hours. 12. Only You -Re Cross- Only you -リ・クルス- [010726] Alice Soft 1 One day an evil mark appears on Magami Yuuji's right arm. To protect the earth from the ancient, world-destroying evil which is honing in on it, the governments send assassins after Yuuji. To protect eight precious girls, and on advice from his Master Tiger Joe, he decides to fight - against the entire world, if necessary. Not that much different from original game. There is an English article on changes. 13. Cosmos no Sora ni 秋桜の空に [010727] Marron 1 Time of school festival. While most students are eager to show their spirits, main character who lost his memory in the childhood pays all his attention to five girls with scars on their hearts. A classic nakige with first part being comical and second serious. But the problem here is that serious part dwells not that much on drama or trauma, but mostly just on memory. So it's not really a game that makes cry. Probably the most memorable feature of this game is awesome spoilt imouto. 14. Itoshi no Kotodama 愛しの言霊 [010727] Silky's Koga Shigemaro is a young man with an extraordinary gift. He can see and talk to spirits. Most of those spirits are deceased people with regrets and because of that, they can't move on to the "after life". With the help of his grandfather, an exorcist, he helps them to fulfill their last desires... Game difficulty is high as there are different conditions for heroines. Game is troublesome and fails to create an atmosphere. After all it's required to have some occult tolerance to try to enjoy this work. 15. My Fair Angel マイ・フェア・エンジェル [010727] Studio e.go! 1 2 There is an alchemist at a certain place. Great effort and talent are necessary to be an alchemist and there are only a few in one country. This alchemist has a disciple. He is young and talented so that there is nothing left to teach. Therefore, his master decides to make a Homunculus and make him raise it. He is tested not only an ability as an alchemist but also his ability to raise a child as a parent. How will he raise his child...? There is an English review. BLOCKED 1. Couple remarks to experiment conditions. Atlas and LEC are non-neuro machine translation services, so it's unfair to compare them with Google translate. Allows you to read whatever you want at a normal pace right away without big hit to the meaning provided you can put up with some broken grammar. There is no just one right answer. All people are different. First and second variants are suitable only for some 10% of people, others would get demotivated before finishing anything. I advocate for machine neuro translation only because it's available just as you set up your mind to try untranslated visual novels. You get to appreciate the media and then need to decide for yourself if you want to try more works this way first or start learning the language at this point. Foreword: I spotted No Reality many-many years ago, but I lacked technical skills to play it properly - I had just one monitor back then, and game crashed at even sophisticated attempts to launch it in window mode or minimize in order to hook properly. Now with the help of agth and two monitors it's been a piece of cake. The most mysterious cyberpunk'ish game finally opened its doors for me. Title: No Reality Developer: Unknown Date: 2001-06-29 VNDB link:https://vndb.org/v6383 Youtube walkthrough:https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bxqxQhirxgc Synopsis: With the violent crime outburst government established "fixer" profession that compensates for security activities. Fixers receive individual cases for investigations, but they aren't given special rights which causes constant conflicts with the police over legality of means used. Main character Neil Foxx is a fixer who used to be a detective. He has an innate special ability "ecstasy borders" to see with the eyes of the criminal upon touching a corpse. Several prostitutes are killed in a chain, and Neil is given a request to investigate it. It's yet to know that the case is going to develop in a series of terrible murders. Structure: None Length: 4 hours Game type: Point-and-click detective cyberpunk-ish story. Difficulty: Several times I was at a loss what and where to click, so walkthrough is recommended Character Design rating: 9/10 Protagonist rating: 10/10 Story rating: 10/10 Game quality: 9/10 Overall rating: 9/10 Rating comments: I have just one complaint - absence of voicing. Apart of that it's a perfect game with great atmosphere, characters and dialogues. Protagonist: Neil Foxx is a hardcore detective. It's a rare mystery game where protagonist really investigates himself at every step and moves the story with just his force. He's got a face, so there's no need to try and take on his boots. He's absolutely separate from the reader. Characters: I rated characters as 9/10 because game is too short and linear to have the time for heroines. But heroines are all mature and free-spirited. Noone chases after anyone - characters act individually, and only sometimes intersect. Only half of heroines have H scenes at all, because it's a story-focused game. I'd like to specially emphasis existence of hard-boiled men as characters - detective partner Joe Bertran and police chief Bert Randolf. What's most surprising for me is the appearance of protagonist's assistant Ryouko Shinjou at the front of the game cover. She basically just searches her cat for the whole game! Well, she and her cat are the only things mentioned in epilogue, but that does not make her important at all! She's got great looks and costume, that's basically it. Still, a great cast. Story: It's hard to say anything about the story beyond the synopsis. We basically just inspect the corpse, talk with everyone gathering clues and progressively getting access to new areas. All these activities are not separate, but just one seamless narration process, accessed via point-and-click. At times unexpected events happen giving more leads, but that's all I can really tell about the story. CG: Graphics is fabulous. CG are very different giving special angles and focusing on some items sometimes. Great variety. Sound: General BGM is rhythmic, but special moments and ending BGM is much more pleasant, so there's no bad aftertaste. Thoughts: 1) It looks like company title was chosen just for this one single game they were going to produce. Game actually has allusions to both Unknown and No reality themes, and I really appreciate it when strange title is explained during the game. 2) Unfortunately game can not be honestly called a cyberpunk. It has its atmosphere, but not attributes. It's a night city with emphasis on night life, and there are computers and lots of screens around, but apart of that no high-tech advances. 3) Game really looks and feels like EVE series. Neil detective office-warehouse is almost exact mirrored version of Koijiro's den. Here and there point-and-click is used. Both are low cyberpunk detective stories (EVE has genetics in the core of the story, so it's more advanced this way). Even graphics looks very much alike. No Reality is a must have for any EVE fan. In my opinion No reality and Unknown are also used to show that visual novel industry has stagnated after EVE series failing to produce same level stories. And this is an attempt to push the industry in the right direction again as it's possible to make high quality story games even without huge budget or voicing. Overall comments: No reality is a great example that even small company can create a high quality story. It won't sell as good as a game with a famous artist or 12 routes for all the heroines, but it will become the core of the medium, a work that the company can be proud of.

I was semi-content with Mutsuki and Nozomi routes that can be called main heroines routes (angel/devil). Then happened Mahiru route that disgusted me with loli abominable scenes. Miyuki and Koyori routes were just plain unimpressive. I saw all the endings in one day, and the repetitiveness and deteriorating quality with each route grieved me more and more. Koyori as the last route was the worst for the number of visual atrocities. I really wanted to throw up afterwards. Only night's sleep calmed me down. I don't want to belittle directing, text, atmosphere and really immersive voicing, but I try to evaluate any game by the story, the ideas it promotes and the thoughts that it provokes. And looking back at Sayooshi, these aren't its strong points. I'm especially offended by the fact that heroines themes with their core ideas get interrupted at the highest points of their routes. The moment you're really sucked in it's gg, time for ending that has nothing to do with the recently experienced "something" that you started to understand. It's good while it lasts, but it leaves you with nothing afterwards. It's quite the opposite effect from the one that Tsui no Sora produces.

No Reality and Chain Ushinawareta Ashiato are masterpieces of the month, but No Reality is the best. 1. Records of Silfade [010608] SmokingWOLF The story revolves around Eshutā who wishes to be a doctor. He managed to enter the renowned Nōma Academy, and then he starts an extraordinary school life, in which he is surrounded by weird characters and peculiar events thanks to his misfortune and hard luck... Not sure what it's doing here. Just an RPG Maker... 2. Yami no Koe 闇の声 [010608] Black Cyc 1 2 3 4 5 A group of six people--two teachers, two male and two female students--rents a yacht, only to find a stowaway, a girl named Tachikawa Nanami. Shortly after, violent seas wreck their ship and force them ashore an island. What are the intentions of the beautiful woman named Sayoko and her maid K, who offer them shelter in her mansion until the ferry arrives in 30 days? What are Nanami's intentions? Time is running out. There are English review. 3. Tomak: Jigu-reul Jikyeora 토막: 지구를지켜라, 러브스토리 [010609] Seed9 1 The gods want to destroy the Earth because "true love" no longer exists. But the Goddess of Love, Evian, still believes in humans. To prove that "true love" exists, she comes to Earth. However, the other gods only let her bring her head, to prove that what another feels for her is love, not lust. Evian's head is in a flowerpot. You have only three years to get Evian to fall in love with you before the gods destroy the world. There is an English review. 4. Akaki Isakaime 紅き諍い女 [010615] Vega Two tribes have been serving their own gods and lived in isolation from each other. But war broke out because of a certain incident. The prince from one tribe and princess of the other tribe were in love, but decided to sacrifice their lives to put an end to the war. At the last moment princess lowered her sword hoping her lover would live for both of them. The prince vowed to resurrect his princess. Despite all the high-strung setting, hero just has his fun with pretty much any woman he meets on his way. There are only four choices in the whole game, so the structure is very simple. The branches are also super short up to 10 minutes short and containing a H scene immediately. So there's hardly anything to discuss here. 5. Ame Agari no Neko-tachi e 雨あがりの猫たちへ [010615] Hooksoft 1 This story begins in 1990. Hitomi and Hoshibana lead the lives of 2 ordinary high school girls. Hoshibana, having distrust for all men due to a prior traumatic experience, falls in love with Hitomi. With these complex emotions, Hoshibana continues seeing Hitomi, until one rainy day, she confronts Hitomi with her feelings. Suddenly, an accident occurs... They're buried alive in a landslide! A monument is built for these two at the school; the sorrow for these two continues... Multi-site time travel loop adventure. So many curious features! But reality is much more harsh. There is no voicing, no future Hooksoft moe in this debut work. Keeper and Maker views on the story aren't too different. All the looping just makes the same scenario play over and over bringing eternal boredom. 6. Cos Para ~Happy Costume Paradise~ コス☆パラ～はっぴぃコスチューム☆パラダイス～ [010615] Black Package Main character is the son of a director of a huge department store chain. He is entrusted to hold a beauty competition among store clerks. And in accordance to father's tastes it should be a cosplay competition. The concurs outcome will determine the position protagonist achieves in the company. Game is actually a training SIM to prepare the best candidate, and thus a disguised nukige... 7. Hotaru no Hikari ~Fluorite~ ほたるのひかり ～フローライト～ [010615] Adonis Fluorite is a power stone ore that emits beautiful sparkle when put in fire, just as as firefly. But in the end of the day it crumbles, just as Hotaru childhood friend in the nurse room. She only could say "I'm fine" before fainting, so I brought her to the nurse room. I gave her flowlight as a present in the childhood, and she was very pleased with it. I was not aware of "fluorite" alias back then. Hotaru is a regular at the nurse room. I peek at her medical card. Lung cancer. Hotaru only has several months to live. Game has zero impressions or comments. There are four heroines, including Hotaru. There is quite a lot of H action put into each route, and there are also two bad endings just for that. One of the heroines is actually sex buddy. So overall direction of the game is well seen. 8. Private Nurse プライベートナース [010615] Angel Smile 1 2 3 4 5 6 7 8 9 Young Hiroki has been sick all his life. His father died when he was young, and his mother is distant. Even with all of this, he thinks of himself as a pretty normal guy, except that he's completely dependent on his childhood friend, Ayano, who enjoys taking care of him while his mother is away. One day, Hiroki's mom calls and tells him, "I'm hiring a 'private nurse' for you", but Hiroki strongly objects. He doesn't even know what a "private nurse" is, but he knows he doesn't want one ... until she's standing in his doorway, dressed in a sexy nurse uniform. "Hi, I'm Maria. I'm your new private nurse!". She promises to cure Hiroki of his disease within a month. While unbelievable, he tentatively accepts and the treatment begins. Her methods are very "hands on", and Ayano watches with mixed feelings as Maria treats him. As his treatment intensifies so do feelings of love and jealousy. What kind of treatment will Maria use to finally cure Hiroki, and will Ayano just quietly watch and do nothing? Game is localized and has English reviews. 9. Railway ~Koko ni Aru Yume~ Railway～ここにある夢～ [010615] Emu A small port town with mountains on the back and the sea in the front. Main character returns to this town for the first time in 8 years after leaving it because of parents divorce. Now grandmother invites him to help with the coffee shop "Railway" that got its name due to being set up at an abandoned train locomotive on the outskirts of the town. Meeting old friends, recovering old memories... it's a place where dreams come true. First half of the game is a good slice of life example with many unique heroines. But the second half gets really heavy with lots of incurable disease and suicide themes. Bugs and confusing routes outcomes hurt the impression. 10. Touch My Heart たっち・まい・は～と [010615] Haoh Main character is a prospective newly hired employee in a family restaurant. Besides the beauty manager there are six cute girls working there as waitresses. Learn to work, learn to love and conquer the heart of the girl you like! Typing games are inserted everywhere here and game develops depending on the outcome of typing practice. Sometimes emphasis is on speed, sometimes on accuracy. 11. Yukiusagi ゆきうさぎ [010615] LiLiM This game is staged in the town of Chelkiki, nestled in the northern part of Japan glistening like the color of silver. Its picturesque serenity has never existed on a map.Hayato Sanada, the owner of an magnificent villa, is enjoying a ride with his butler in his "Hawaiian Crusher ‡U." It is a continuous summer-like 86 degrees inside the Hawaiian. Suddenly, a girl comes rolling down from the top of the summit in a snowball. She collides with the Hawaiian, and his beautiful car is demolished. What a way to meet a girl! The girl Yuuna helps Hayato return to his villa; he realizes that it was their destiny to meet.This slapstick comedy-adventure is staged in the land of snow, where you'll also enjoy appearances from heroines from our other pieces of work. Amongst the laughter, this game will really make you yearn for your youthful days. A bakage where main character has different personality according to heroine route. Only one scenario is somewhat satisfying. Game is mostly about gags and animated H scenes. 12. Mahou Shoujo Ai 魔法少女アイ [010622] Colors In a certain town, there were consecutive phantom assaults. Because the incidents were extraordinary, there was a rumor that a ghost or supernatural creature caused them. The students in the Akitoshi's school were frightened. One day, an unknown girl appeared in the school. However, all the students except Akitoshi thought they had known her. Feeling strange, he shadowed her in order to investigate her but he lost sight of her. At that moment, he heard the scream of a woman from the nearby material yard and went to the place where the scream came from. There he found the beautiful girl of the school, Mikage. Mikage was surrounded by monsters "Yuragi" (fluctuation), and she was hanging naked. Yuragi noticed Akitoshi and began to attack him. Then, the fighter, Ai, appeared and cut them down. Akitoshi stared at Ai. What was her true character, an enemy or an ally? I don't think there was a correlation between magical girls and tentacles before this game. But Mahou Shoujo Ai really turned the tides. Story here is weak and without impressive ending, but it has lots and lots of tentacle H events, most of which are bad endings. Battles are quite well done, but besides that game is painful for all but tentacle fans. 13. Mitama ~Shinobi~ 御魂～忍～ [010622] Ciel 1 Ninja super action! Set during the time of the North and South Dynasties in Japan, the chaotic period after the collapse of the Kamakura government and before the formation of the Muromachi government. You must choose, in the beginning, one of two characters and determine whether you will side with the North or the South Dynasties. Depending on how you carry yourself throughout the game, you will actively change the fate of the game. Choose the Southern Dynasty and become Yahiro, the youngest sibling of a noble family, commanded to search and obtain the three sacred treasures handed down from the gods. Choose the Northern Dynasty and become Oboro, the ninja from the Fuga clan, commanded to assassinate the Southern Emperor. The intense portrayal of these two characters living in turbulent times and the mysteries that confront you make this all worthwhile. Also, there are fighting everywhere on this map and events, with intensity burning even hotter. Quite a serous historical work. Atmosphere of the time is depicted well and graphics are on par to it. There are fixed fighting scenes, and winning in them develops skill and level. Fight system resembles janken as there is attack, defend and art, and guessing enemy action determines the outcome - so it's kinda luck based. There are two routes for two different clans members. And it's quite inevitable that main characters have to fight each other in the end. Some bugs remain even after final patch. 14. A moderately difficult to operate action RPG to clear dungeon levels. Not really much from visual novel here. 15. Typing Viper タイピングVIPER [010622] Sogna Under pressure to improve your typing skills in real life, you find yourself dreaming every night about scenarios from various VIPER games in which proficient typing would be used to solve a particular problem. As your skills improve, the stages get progressively harder. Only old games scenarios are used, no really fresh content. So it's more like a fandisc, no value for me. 16. The goddess has requested that our hero subdue the evil demon and free the villagers. The villagers who are freed build houses and stores and provide weapons and tools to our hero. In order to make your adventure easier, it's extremely important to help the villagers to get free. Your objectives are to subdue the demon, free all of the villagers, gather weapons, be endowed with various titles, and enjoy the other fun-loaded elements as well. Hole digging RPG... not my definition of fun. 18. Eternity エターニティ [010629] Ange 1 One day, Tatsuhiko finds a strange glowing stone in an antique shop. He gets the feeling that somebody is hailing him as he holds the stone. He decides to look for the origin of the stone. On his way to the mountain village where the stone was found, Tatsuhiko loses his way. A girl called Yuka saves Tatsuhiko and tells him about old folklore of the village. There is a story of a snow woman who was caught and sealed somewhere in the village. Later on, Tatsuhiko, Yuka, and her friend Nagi look for clues about the stone, but they find nothing. In the night, Tatsuhiko is called by the stone again and brought into an old storehouse. There, he finds a girl named Miyuki. With some feelings of suspicion, Tatsuhiko takes Miyuki out of the storehouse. Once they get outside, Miyuki's face suddenly turns into a devil, and she runs away in the dark. Shocked, Tatsuhiko stands alone in the darkness... The next morning, Yuka finds a dead body covered with blood in front of her house. A rumor spreads among the villagers, "The snow woman's revenge has begun." This is the beginning of a series of murders. Not only by herself, but Miyuki sometimes manipulates Nagi's younger brother to take people's lives. Tatsuhiko might have accidentally started this mayhem, but can he stop it now? As usual, there is not a single impression for Ange game. This company's weird drawing style, weak stories and ero-centered nature has managed to get them to as far as year 2001, but it's the last year of company's existence. It's hard to find appeal points in these works anymore. 19. Mune Kyun! Heartful Cafe 胸キュン!はぁとふるCafe [010629] Unison Shift Main character gets a job at a coffee shop. Suddenly twin sisters-in-law arrives there and start to live together with protagonist. A sweet life with cute sisters begins. Period is two months. A comedy moege. But at the very end it gets painfully realistic creating a bad aftertaste. 20. No Reality [010629] Unknown With the violent crime outburst government established "fixer" profession that compensates for security activities. Fixers receive individual cases for investigations, but they aren't given special rights which causes constant conflicts with the police over legality of means used. Main character Neil Foxx is a fixer who used to be a detective. He has an innate special ability "ecstasy borders" to see with the eyes of the criminal upon touching a corpse. Several prostitutes are killed in a chain, and Neil is given a request to investigate it. It's yet to know that the case is going to develop in a series of terrible murders. This game is everything why I read visual novels. A detailed cyberpunk world in an absolutely hard boiled novel. Of course I'm making a review. 21. This work has a very loose structure, and for that reason relations advance even with non-targeted heroines, including H events. And H element is strong, 2-4 scenes for each heroine. First playthrough takes only about two hours. BLOCKED 1. Care ~Iyasubeki Fuchi no Kyouki~ Care～癒すべき不治の狂気～ [010601] Radi Main character is a caretaker of diseased girls in a Western-style mansion. Preliminary suggestion. I studied grammar extensively. I speak three foreign languages, and thanks to that I pick up vocabulary easily. I've no problem reading and understanding words in kana. All I miss is majority of kanji. But I'm sure that even with full kanji knowledge I would not be able to read walls of text in split second like I do in English, so I'd keep using machine translation for the sheer convenience. Visual novels have too much water that should be avoided, and dialogues bear almost all significant information. But if criticizing and suggesting nothing instead is your way, I won't waste my breath anymore.

Not only review, but encourage everyone else to do so. As of now 80% of untranslated VNs don't even have descriptions, save for reviews. Those five people who actually know Japanese and do reviews focus only on recent games. Everyone else is just reading the same 200 translated VNs being offended by wrongly put commas etc trifles. Machine neuro translation is the best thing that happened to VN community since vndb creation and oh text hooker first release in 2003. Deny the progress, and the progress will deny you.

A chauvinist approach again. I understand 99.9% of the Japanese text I read with machine translation + voice audition. I've seen such chauvinists in the past who say they'd read other reviews I collected (even reviews from densetsu), but not mine, since supposedly everyone else is 100% pro in Japanese. I'll definitely see more such people in the future. Good luck finding native Japanese to write reviews for you or writing them yourself after you learn language at 100%.

Why should not I? Till 8 years old I knew no English words. Should I quit everything I like? That's just a wrong question.

Somehow I never perceive translated result literally. I still transform it in my head. And if it's a spoken line, it's enough just to listen to it. If an important line makes no sense, I still break it into parts of speech and translate word-by-word. I'm mostly interested in the stories, thus in sentence composition, nouns and verbs which is usually handled by machine neuro translation brilliantly. I agree that it's not good enough enjoy the text and it can break the atmosphere.

For the last two years I've only been reading visual novels in my free time at home easily covering 10 hours per weekend as a result. Don't try to repeat that, though. At my MMORPG days I could play for 20 hours per day. Such endurance only comes after years and years of training.

One. I have zero backlog. They are too short anyway! 50 hours novel can be finished in just several days.

1. I never learned Japanese, although I can understand spoken Japanese after all these years of cultivating Japanese atmosphere around myself 2. Watching anime since around 2008, reading VNs since 2014 or so. Ran out of translated VNs, so had to move forward to terra incognita. 3. Don't remember first untranslated one. Might be Kikokugai, but I was not aware of translation, so had to translate it myself with mecab+edict and trying to grasp speech. It's not that difficult to understand provided that it's voiced and has mostly action scenes. 4. All those word-by-word translations are waste of time, and I doubt it really helps learning language. I use ITHVNR+Translation Aggregator (Bing/Yandex machine translation). Google neuro translation introduced in November 2016 made the whole world change for me. It translates not words, but sentences, and it drew translation to a whole new quality level rendering engines that still use word-to-word translation obsolete. 5. We're living in the age post google (and now also Bing and Yandex) neuro translation revolution. It's absolutely the best time to live. There's no need to spend half of your life to learn the language now. Start right away and pick up audio skills automatically in the meantime. It really grieves me when people consider google machine translation piece of crap like it used to be prior to November 2016.

Character Design rating: 1/10 Protagonist rating: 1/10 Story rating: 1/10 Game quality: 1/10 Overall rating: 1/10 Rating comments: Should I even continue? I'm gravely offended by this game. Protagonist: Yagami Shinobu is faceless, voiceless and hardly with any individuality at all. Characters: Game does not have heroine routes - just one story with lots of bad ends. Girls are well written and have voice, but when spontaneous H events start to trigger one by one any charm that's left just evaporates. Story: There's hardly anything happens during those 9 days. Each day is divided into some 10 phases, so it's roughly 90 phases where you need to check the new information about places, then the new information about persons and then advance the events further triggering some dialogues and coming out of nowhere spontaneous H events. I admit that it might be me who was not attentive enough to see the correlation of arriving information, but absolutely nothing happened till the last 9th day when you come to the dormitory for the 10th time or so and you're greeted by a character who says "Hey, I expected you to come earlier, but still well done" and that character just tells you who is the killer etc... Credits. CG: There is on average ONE non-HCG per every girl, and it's CG when we first meet that girl. That's just nothing, an insult. Overall comments: The story is absolutely banal and greatly ero-tilt so that every girl showing up on the screen could have her performance. All the important information is compressed into one last day. I skipped all the BAD endings (which are all just H events), but there were still some 6 (!) spontaneous H events incorporated into the story-line. So I really hope Edelweiss would have much to do with weapons, because the kind of story Femme Fatale has is a scam and should be only distributed for free like it used to be done for several months.

Frightened by his worsening condition, our hero is comforted by the various girls he comes across in the hospital. Christmas swings around as death approaches. . . Choices diverge into various paths as conversations with girls are taken up in this picture novel. As the player, you can decide how our hero's remaining days will be spent to face the approaching end: To leave without regrets. Even with such an overbearing theme, it really is a refreshing piece of work that we know you'll enjoy. There are nine heroines to capture including secret one that appears after clearing all other good and bad endings. Scenario is thin. One route takes about 1.5 hours. Period is 5 days pre-festival and 2 days during festival. One playthrough takes less than 2 hours, but some heroines have two endings. Since it's a charage, evaluation depends on affection towards the girls. 6. Sapphism no Gensou サフィズムの舷窓 [010518] Liar-soft 1 2 3 4 5 Story takes place on a fanciful, all-girl educational institution that floats along the oceans. Despite the complete absence of men, there have been incidents of rape among the passengers and crew. No one knows who it is just yet, but there are three candidates that carry the high probability of being the next target. Suspense and mystery await as the women suspect one another to be the perpetrator, and who will be next victim. You play as an idol--a female--of the student body who joins in the hunt for finding who did it. The rub lies in the fact that the ship will disembark in three weeks, and the culprit will have gotten away with it by then. Game takes 3 weeks. On weekdays it's exploration and information gathering, on Saturday deduction work, and on Sunday date with main heroine -> repeat. The scenario is thin, so the main attraction is full yuri, atmosphere and characters. 7. Movie-ish game featuring lots of exotic vehicles and gunfire. Most of deaths come not from wrong decisions, but exactly from gunfire. Not much story value, as developers are more interested in HOW the justice is going to be done, not why etc. 9. Inside were two aliens who came to this planet to spread military shogi game. Intimacy will be reward for winning. Not interested 10. 21-Two One- [010525] BasiL 1 Takuya Kirishima is a brilliant young surgeon who can save anyone with a disease. He spends his days working with his childhood friend Seri Sasaki, who is a nurse in the same hospital. One day, a murder is commited in the hospital and people starts suffering a strange disease not seen before. Takuya starts looking for the answer of these strange happenings so he can protect Seri. 7 heroines, plus one additional. Story focuses on the incident, but psychological description of heroines is missing, so they end up existing separately from the incident. In the end it's a perfectly fine charage, but plot feels not integral enough. Atmosphere is great, though. Additional scenario is actually more interesting than the main plot story. 11. Double DOUBLE～ダブル～ [010525] Cherry Soft Near future. Winged descendants of angels and demons have appeared on the Earth. A series of crimes break out in the capital Chiba City. Main character is a student who attends Chiba Defense Academy ADAMAS. One day he meets an angelic girl at a crime scene... Basically it's same setting as Kimon Youitan, and more or less same RPG system. Battles are same repeating and boring, but beautiful CG and same enough to keep going. Scenario is not intriguing enough for me to play this kind of story. 12. DT Lords of Genomes DTローズ・オブ・ゲノム [010525] GameStudio You are a DT master. You can change the substance with the collected data and use it in fights. Governments, secret societies, religious organizations all aim to get that ability and attack it's owner. There are mysteries you need to understand - what's their purpose, why you became DT master, why each data was developed and what's the secret identity of DT. But first of all you need to survive. Gameboy exclusive with card battles? Pass. 13. Femme Fatale ファム ファタール [010525] Inspire Taisho era. Main character is a detective in Tokyo. He returns to hometown to dispose of his father's legacy. Local policeman tells him about a case of girl death from illness at a boarding school, but under suspicious conditions. Detective decides to investigate the incident as he needs to stay at the town for some time anyway. One road with some bad endings on the way (that include most of H scenes). The most irritating factor is when you get to sleep without perfect investigation during the day - then you are looped backwards till you do it perfectly... System is with lots of little irritations. The atmosphere is inspirational. There are some very interesting mature heroines like your ex wife and daughter you temporarily live with, as long as foreign teacher Freya that seems to be a direct reference to Days Innocent game. So game is more interesting as a part of Inspire flow of works rather than an individual work. 14. Night Walker [010525] Arieroof 1 Monsters, called "Breed", threaten the people of Japan. Tatsuhiko Shibafuji, the proprietor and sole employee of the Shibafuji Detective Agency, possesses great powers that can be used against the "Breed." Tatsuhiko receives a request from a private sponsor, Yayoi Matsunaga, who is an inspector on the police force. Our hero sets out to inspect a suspiciously related incident at Saint Michael All-Girls Institute. He comes in contact with one of the friends of the victim, Kazumi Asano. Our hero and Riho Yamazaki find a secret underground room beneath the chapel. Here, they find a pendant, which had belonged to Kazumi. The situation is much more serious that he had expected. This AVG is an orthodox command-selection game. A player searches for clues by traveling to different places, meeting different people, and obtaining various items. Throughout this detective story, a player will come upon many obstructions that will have to be cleared in order to solve the case. Unfortunately the game is a poor remake of the original game. System remains same old-fashioned look/think/speak/investigate. Basically only graphics improved. Game is released to reap the light of anime adaptation... but isn't it better to watch anime version instead then. 15. Susukinohara no Yakusoku ススキノハラの約束 [010525] Kur-Mar-Ter Main character attends high school and suffers from nightmares every night. The strange thing in the nightmares is that girls there are from the real life around protagonist. Then one day a girl appears before him asking forgiveness for sending him into these dreams, but also asking for his help... Dream world and real life world are linked. At daytime hero chases girls in order to proceed the story of the dream world. Real world has more comical approach and dream world is rather serious. The connection between the worlds is thin. If BGM is put to MIDI, then Rei almost can't be heard at all. It looks most funny when he talks with some heroine with a bright loud voice, and she actually understands everything that he says unlike us, listeners! If BGM is set on lowest DirectSound, Rei finally is able to be heard. What I like in Rei the most is that he's really mature, about 30 years old, and that he's absolutely indifferent to girls. There is one H even in (almost) each route that he participates in the end, but every time he's kinda dragged into it despite his intentions. Characters: Let's count heroines with the routes: vocalist Shion, drums Ruo, pop-singer Sayura, musical producer Arisa, diner host Emi. But the fact is... the whole game Rei only communicates with Shion on daily basis and occasionally with others. Shion dominates here to such extent that other heroines sometimes only get as many as only 3 CG. All the other heroines aren't much noticeable, really. I was glad to see that the youngest heroine with route Emi did not get a H scene. Story: Hmm... is there even a story here? Rei finds Shion at a car dump, and during common route they get two more members of the band and get acquainted with three more girls that would serve as heroines. And CG aren't articualte. Either people just stand or play musical instruments, that's the bulk of CG compositions. Sound: BGM is ok, but that's bad for a musical game. Game has five songs, but they all suck. The opening theme is weak, and it's by far the best musical piece in the game. There is a pop-singer song, but it also manages to suck. What's wrong with this game, really? Thoughts: The biggest appeal point in the game is that it's... convenient. If I heard that recommendation, I'd thought it's some porn. In fact, game has just very light system, auto reading, and everyone including males is voiced. In 2000-2001 system was still a huge issue, and most games got negative feedback just because of poor or heavy system. This game got mostly positive feedback... but what does it really have besides the system? Shion is quite nice as a heroine... and that's it. But negative points accumulate: non-articulate story, poor sub-heroines routes, lots and lots or repeated reading to do just to read 20 minutes worth of unique text, then repeat. Overall comments: I have many questions to Kira☆Kira, but at the very least it was possible to provide unique touching routes for all the heroines. Handle With Care could not do even that much. It's not a bad game if you read just common route, Shion flagging and Shion True route once. But the problem is that Shion True route only opens up after seeing all the other routes, and that's balls - rereading the same common route just to see that 1% unique text for each heroine. Game is convenient, but the problems is that it's not needed to be convenient to become a great game. Most of my favorite visual novels are anti-convenient, they are just so awesome that all the negative sides can be neglected. In Handle With Care all I can focus on is the negative sides.

There aren't masterpieces this month. But closest to it is Mizuiro . I will review Handle With Care.. 1. There he meets different girls. During conversations with them he plays mahjong, and the endings depend on whether he wins or loses in the game. There are three stories each featuring one of the heroines. But bittersweet story of Megumi Makoto is considered to be main one. Card game 2. True Love Story 3 トゥルーラブストーリー3 [010405] Game Club 1 True Love Story 3 places the player in the shoes of a young male protagonist experiencing his third year of Junior High with the goal of confessing his love to one of a number of female peers. As the year opens he is introduced to the girl he has long had a crush on, Aotsuki Takane, by his twin sister who commutes to the same school, Kaname. The game tracks characters' "level of friendship" (友人度) and "level of affection" (恋愛度) towards the player character on a triangular diagram that the player can learn the status of regularly by consulting with his twin sister at the end of a day. Instead of playing each day of the school year, the player selects "try-your-best days" (頑張る日), the frequency of which affects his level of enthusiasm (やる気), which in turn influences the occurrence of special events. But the most distinguishing feature of the game and of the series as a whole is its unique conversation system. At the end of a weekday, if the weather is sunny, the player has three chances to try to meet a girl who he can invite to walk home with (or be invited to walk home with) and the invite, if successful, leads to a complex conversation mode in which numerous topics can be selected, the goal being to raise the girl's "hearthrob gauge" (ときめきゲージ) without filling up her "pounding heart" （ドキドキハート） and possibly invite her out on a date before the walk home concludes. Third bulled of a classical SIM series that keeps inventing more and more difficulties each time making enjoying it pretty much impossible for a westerner. 3. Handle With Care.. [010406] ETOILE 1 Our hero was the vocalist of the legendary rock band "Bloody Roses." Presently, his activities with the band are on hold. At one of the live houses he played at, he met an extremely talented vocalist named Sahara Shion. He takes it upon himself to help her in her career... As a player, it is your goal to eventually bring this beautiful talent on stage at the live house "Moon Rouge." Story is straight and without surprises, but it's not a story-centered game, after all. At least it's a serious story of a juvenile band growing up. Five vocal songs and frequent use of animation give the game high production values. But, most importantly, girls are charming enough and atmosphere good enough to feel the part of the group. One playthrough is some 8 hours, next ones with read text skip takes about 3 hours. Endings vary greatly from one heroine to another, and only Shion has both normal ending and true ending. Depending on person, it can easily be a masterpiece. And I'm not such person. 4. Negapoji ~Onii-chan to Yobanaide!!~ ねがぽじ～お兄ちゃんと呼ばないでっ！！～ [010406] Active 1 Hiroba Mahiru, the protagonist, is a girl attending Mizuki Academy. One day in the changing rooms at school, Mahiru's friend Kasumi Sakuraba accidentally tore off her panties. After what she saw, Kasumi declared Mahiru was a boy. After this, Mahiru was forced to go to the hospital for two months, before finally being able to return to school... but as a boy instead. There are three heroines for capture and five endings overall, one being bad end and one true end. Somehow hero is treated very coldly by everyone in school and family, and only a few of his old friends keep treating him normally, so it's not a full-fledged comedy. Other than True end scenarios have some different approach, but still hardly worth seeing after the True end. 5. But with concept left intact, noone cares. So shall I. 6. Angel Present エンジェルプレゼント [010412] HuneX 1 The player takes a role of a young male assistant to the picture book writer who just went on a tour of Europe for an inspiration. You, on the other hand, desperately want to prove yourself in the area, but your inspiration is as dry as an empty well. So, you decide to take those three weeks of holidays to return to your hometown and give your best to come up with something solid or completely give up on wanting to become a picture book writer. Your hometown is a couple of hours from Tokyo by bullet train, though it is a rather rural area so it requires a switch to a more local train. Upon your arrival, you soon team up with Erina, an old friend of yours, and the two of you keep on exploring town, going places an meeting people. One night, walking alone in the woods, you get caught by the rain. Running to find a shelter, you stumble upon a small shrine. There, in front of your eyes, you see a flying silhouette which soon gets zapped by the thunder and falls down not far from where you are. Not sure what you saw really happened, you come outside and see a small fairy, down on the ground under the rain and with a wounded wing. You pick her up and tend to her wound. She quickly tests her fixed wings and flies away with a smile. As the morning comes, you look over town and has a sudden vision of an unknown place. Whatever happened to you granted you certain magical abilities you are not aware of. Surprisingly decent atmosphere puts game to unique position. 7. Case 266 ~266 Gou Jiken~ CASE266～266号事件～ [010413] Complet's United States midlands, 1998. Two prisoners Kane and Gaston who are charged with life sentence manage to jailbreak. The police severe measures are in vain, and crimes are commenced one after another. Detective Ralph Vincent is a detective who initially caught those two criminals. Together with his young partner John Orwell they investigate the so called "266 case", but it turns out not so easy to crack. However, the hunt has just begun. Game turned out to be very small, simple and tedious. There's the need to patrol suspicious places by choosing them on the map and choosing one of three actions to do there. It's game over if nothing found in 20 days. 8. Mizuiro みずいろ [010413] NekoNeko Soft 1 2 3 The protagonist, Kenji, is living with his adopted sister Yuki, who admires her older brother and harbors a slight secret crush on him. One day, after a certain night, a girl - Hiyori, their childhood friend - begin to appear in Kenji's closet. Moreover, her body is transparent, and she has gaps in her memory. As they struggle to figure out the mystery behind Hiyori's state, Kenji begins to realize his forgotten feelings and Yuki suffers with her secret. Game is localized and has English reviews. 9. Stainless Night -Ikiteru- Stainless Night −いきてる− [010413] Sequence 1 With an invitation to go on a trip from Hiromi Hongo, who is one year his senior, our hero Hikaru Takatsuki decides to take her up on her offer. This sounds like they are a couple, however their delicate relationship has never went beyond just being friends, even though Hikaru let Hiromi know of his feelings for her over a year ago. Finally no longer to contain herself, Hiromi has asked him to go with her. Hikaru seems pleased with the turn of events. The two of them arrive at a small island that is undergoing resort developments. Hikaru will experience various encounters here on this island: Kouhaku and a maid residing with her at the inn, a girl that he grew up with named Ai, and a shrine maiden with long silver hair named Uguisu. At a glance, the encounters will seem like ordinary situations that generally occur on such trips, but Hikaru gradually realizes that each of them have deep ties to him... Through continuous playing, you will find that each ending with each different character will open the curtain to new and exciting scenarios. This game will leave you deeply impressed with the story plotted out in its entirety. The order of four heroines capture is fixed alike Kizuato, and with that scenario reaches really high degree of completeness. Main theme is that in previous life heroines and protagonist were pulled apart for different age, and here they reincarnate to meet again. But every story surpasses expectations and breaks out of expectations circle. There are references to previous work Pure Angel. So game is almost a masterpiece. 10. Tokyo Yuuyuu 東京幽遊 [010413] Sarang 1 Yuichiro Mikami was previously engaged to Yukino Yamase. His parents had arranged it all, and neither he nor his fiance had any true feelings for each other. During the devastating earthquake in Kanto, Yukino was killed and Yuichiro was injured and fell unconscious. A few years later, our hero regains consciousness, only to find the ghost of Yukino floating over him. It seems that the only way to exorcise her spirit is for him to fall in love with someone else. In order to send her soul back where it belongs, Yuichiro sets out for Tokyo to fall in love. The concept behind this game is found in the intermingling of various images. The story itself shows the many contrasts relevant to the latter part of the Taisho era and the beginning of the Showa era in Japan. This game provides a new sense of freshness to reality. Sarang specializes in animation, so game opening and ending really shine, as well as some non-H scene animations during the game like lip sync. Player is bombarded only with bad endings at first. There are many heroines, but only two have developed story, so if you like someone else - tough luck. Overall it's a late Taisho-early Showa charage that feels unsatisfactory with all elements considered. 11. Close to ~Inori no Oka~ Close to ～祈りの丘～ [010419] KID 1 2 3 4 Homura Motoki was walking down the street one day with his girlfriend Yuuna when they were struck by a car. When he woke up in the hospital, he realized something incredible had happened. He was having an out of body experience and no one seems to be able to see or hear him. Floating around in the air, Motoki set off to find Yuuna, only to discover she has lost all her memories of him because of the accident. With only a few days left until his body can no longer be sustained, Motoki must now find a way to make Yuuna remember him so he can return back to his body. There are English reviews. 12. Tobira [扉]　-TOBIRA- [010419] Alice Soft Makoto returns from study in USA to his school in Japan. He needs to choose one class door... and the person he meets there will be protagonist for the next day and will need to choose next door... Where will this constant protagonist swaps lead to? I can't answer this question since game has zero reviews just as any other Alice fandisc free game, and I'm not excited by this prospect much to get to the end. 13. Yoru Ga Kuru! -Square of the Moon- 夜が来る！-Square of the MOON- [010419] Alice Soft 1 2 3 4 The story begins with another moon appearing in our skies. No one has yet to find out why such a celestial occurrence came to be, but humanity has to keep on living. Three years since the event, Ryo Hamura is your unassuming high school guy when they are confronted by a strange girl who asks him to fight along side her. Without much else to say (nor much to be written beyond this information), our hero is drawn into a secret world of magic and intrigue. There are English reviews 14. Anime Shop e Ikou! あにめショップへいこう！ [010420] Squadra D 1 The long, endless summer vacation is here: Our hero is asked to go back to work during the summer for 'Peppermint,' an animation shop he used to work for. Being unable to turn them down, our hero tells them he will work for them until the end of August. Little does he know about the dream-like occurrences he will experience, nor the girls he will meet. The feature of the story is that pure love turns into a painful dark feeling. There's a bonus scenario after normal scenario, and this bonus one is bigger in length. There are also couple hidden heroines. Overall the number of heroines is 8, and their routes vary greatly, only one or two is of high scenario level, though. 15. Aozameta Tsuki no Hikari 蒼ざめた月の光 [010420] Studio e.go! Main character Astoria is a demon that lives over 1000 years by robbing people's mind. He targets a new village and aims at some girl standing there. However, a thug appears and attacks the girl just before that, and it looks as if Astoria protects the girl as a result. Her sincere gratitude makes Astoria laugh, and he can't attack her as planned. The cold-hearted demon could not even imagine he would fall in love with this innocent girl Selene ... Sensation - this is Studio e.go, but game is not an RPG. There are 7 endings, and usually new endings open up only after new game start. There are happy ones, but mostly insulting ones. The number of H scenes is 14, including 4 tentacle ones. The graphics are superb, but there's not much in the story department, ero-centered work. 16. Baby, BE -Bedside Emotion- Baby, BE -Bedside Emotion- [010420] BeF 1 Our hero sees a "help wanted" sign at a restaurant in Chinatown in Yokohama. He applies for the job and meets the owners. Two beautiful sisters run the restaurant, and they decide to hire him because he really has a desire to work. He begins to live in their house and help in the restaurant. These young people really start to get involved with each other as they interact on a daily basis. Izumi sisters are main heroines and have 3 H events each while the multiple sub-heroines just one. Story is short and text of different quality. Really, there's little worthwhile here besides graphics and music. 17. Kaizoku Oukan 海賊王冠 [010420] SofthouseChara 1 2 In this world... The great military power Dearumor boasts an almighty force. Land is cleared, new weapons are developed, conventional strategy and tactics are perfected into an art which culminates on the well trained officers and soldiers, and surrounding countries are conquered. Everyone believes that no one can stop their charge, no one doubted that the world is for Dearumor to take. But, there are three powers that can actually oppose them. First is the Fettercairn Treaty Alliance, led by the Ruciun Kindom. Seeing Dearumor's actions as unforgivable, the alliance that's formed in self-defense is capable of fighting equally the invincible Dearumor military whether at land or sea. Another are the sea creatures that are living deep in uncharted waters, the Last Kin. Dearumor's navy which unwittingly trodden on their proud waters, got annihilated. There are always so many girls around him that he has become afraid of women.From an invitation from his sister, Hidemaru visits her college campus, where he falls in love with Haruna Sakurai. She is completely unaffected by the substance his body produces. However, every other girl becomes a raging animal, when his body produces pheromone. Hidemaru has no control over this, other than to try to remain calm. Will he be able to overcome his problems and enjoy life with Haruna? This is basically an adventure-style game. You will be provided with a map of general outlines, which must be utilized to succeed. Your objective is to move the map around and arrive in time for your date with Haruna. You can adjust your speed as you move the map, but if you move too fast, your body will produce pheromone, which will definitely cause problems. Here's the catch: If you walk, you'll miss your date with Haruna! Watch your pulse; watch out for the hoards of girls; see if you can make it on time! Shifting between running and walking to regulate heartbeat level is quite easy if main heroine is the aim, but actually entering full pheromone mode can be more fun. The main heroine remains hugely undeveloped as a character. Quite a stupid game. 19. Shiawase Mille-Feuille ~Sora kara Futago ga Futtekita!!~ しあわせ★ミルフィーユ～そらからふたごがふってきた！！～ [010420] Kuroneko-san Team Twin girls suddenly appear from a UFO. Main character needs to raise them as sisters for four years. What kinds of sisters will he bring up? No, it's not that kind of a game. It's a new innocent all-age SIM by Kuroneko-san Team. Game unique point is that player does not give girls instructions to do some activities. Instead, there are problems arising one by one, and solving them differently affects girls in different ways. 20. Happy Lesson [010426] Datam Polystar 1 An newly orphaned child enters a dormitory filled with amiable women and in the process, gains five new mothers and doting teachers. The routine of life revolves around the dynamics of interaction between you and your new caretakers who work in different careers and wield specific skills which they can teach you. Satsuki works as a physical education advisor, excels at sports and looks the part with an athletic build. Yayoi works in the university medical department and Uzuki advises you on the fine arts. Two other mother figures teach you about chemistry and literature. A girl named Minazuki who also lives in the dorm gets a tad jealous of all the attention you get and acts as a sort of rival for the affections of the teachers. Happy Lesson plays in the style of an interaction game where the feelings of the other characters are affected by your actions and conversational abilities. Be the good son and you'll be on easy street but behave badly and face the whip. Dreamcast exclusive Dating SIM stretches far beyond by interest. 21. Konohana: True Report 此花 True Report [010426] Vridge Inc. 1 2 3 This is the first game in Konohana series and takes place in a high-school, featuring Meguru Momoi as a protagonist, a second year student who just moved to Konohana high-school. As things would have it, what you thought to be the peaceful period until the graduation turns into a suspense thriller. The teacher has been killed, and together with Miako Tachibana, a second year student who is part of a school's newspaper club, you end up entangled in trying to solve the mystery behind the series of murder and the "Legend of Grim Reaper". There is an English review. 22. Love Songs: Idol ga Classmate Love Songs アイドルがクラスメ〜ト [010426] HuneX 1 Love Songs is a dating simulation and adventure game with a setting in high-school. You are an unnamed high-school student (you create your character profile before starting the game) and your high-school is holding a performing arts course. And it just so happens that a currently popular idol, Ayano Seto, enrolled as a student here and ends up as one of your classmates. The game takes place over three-year high-school period until graduation day. During that time you can perform various school and extracurricular activities to upgrade your character stats. You can study, train, sleep, work a part-time job to earn money, ask girls on a date and more. You can also write and receive love e-mails on your computer. Your goal is to become popular among the girls, and that means you must study hard, earn money, keep your body in shape, be fashionable, and know what to say while on a date with the girl that peeks your interest. PS2 exclusive Dating SIM is only slightly better than DS exclusive one. A miss. 23. Aoki Daichi 蒼き大地 [010427] Waffle Main character leaves home after a trifle quarrel with his father. Two years have passed. Every night he sees a dream that he is called by someone, and for the first time in two years he goes back home. He takes over the ranch of his parents and meets five girls with different troubles. Between the wilderness, the ranch and the horses, will he be able to heal the heart wounds of these girls? Game is not voiced, and one story only takes about 30 minutes. Heroines backgrounds aren't explained, development is forced. Game is so short that there's just not enough content to evaluate. 25. B ~Aoki Haitoku~ B～蒼き背徳～ [010427] Tetra 1 Our hero is a former commander in the self-defense forces. He was relieved of command for being responsible for the annihilation of his entire unit. He now leads a calm and peaceful life as an investigator for an insurance company. One day however, his girlfriend Mie suddenly disappears. Having lost the only thing in life that matters to him, our hero succumbs to alcoholism. About this time, a girl claiming to be Mie's friend contacts him and tells him she knows where Mie is. He heads out to meet this friend, Emiko, but is skeptical about any useful information. Our hero isn't at all prepared for what he finds... This is an adventure game, where your mission is to finds our hero's girlfriend, Mie. You will use the key word "Misty Blue" to solve the mystery. A player has 4 different types of games to choose from: Action, Horror, Splatter, or Suspense. All of these stories follow along the lines of the key word "Misty Blue." You will get the feeling of being in another realm. You can't help but enjoy these rich and colorful stories! There are too many choices to choose from with the majority being fake ones. Voicing is absolutely amateurish, and it spoils absolutely everything including H scenes. There's not much meaning in the keywords and story overall, just four heroines to capture, preferably with voice turned off. 26. Genrin no Kishougun 幻燐の姫将軍 [010427] Eushully 1 Blood of the demons runs in the family of Riui. His mother died in persecution, his father killed for the same reason even after he fought to liberate the lands. Riui returns home to take revenge for his family, he is ready to go any lengths for this pledge. But before he bloodies his hands his human side takes over... There is an English review. 27. Jun'ai Kei. 純愛系。 [010427] NEOPIL Main character gets tired of his usual life and convenient relations with his lover. On a September night girl Ai appears before him with the summer breeze feeling. She insists that protagonist must become her master as she saw it in the dream. The mysterious girl, the lover or the secret admirer - who will become the heroine of this pure love story? Whenever I see "pure" I expect something very nasty - that's the law of the genre. Ai route immediately takes us to mild SM slave-master relations, other heroines routes ardently try to catch up to it. But overall it's a well written youth story with great style and atmosphere. 28. Kasumi KA・SU・MI [010427] Scramble House 1 Ippei Matsuba has had a lot of complicated family problems; he returns to his hometown after a 3-year absence to become a dependent of the Matsuba household. As he finishes unpacking one night, he looks up at the night sky and happens to see the retreating figure of a ninja. The following day, he attends his new school, only to find out that he had actually seen the mysterious phantom thief of the harbor; the whole school is talking about it. Ippei meets Kasumi Shiranami, the class president. She bustles about trying to take care of him, and he inwardly begins to fall for her. Ippei happens to see the phantom thief again, and this time, decides to follow and discover the identity of the thief. As he closes in on the phantom, he is discovered and the thief gets away. He notices that the thief looks a lot like a certain girl he knows. The stage for this game is set in our hero's hometown, Fujimi Machi. As you move your map around, you proceed by making contact with various girls. The map not only helps you locate girls, it will also help guide you in conversations with them. Being "kind" is the key to succeeding. You can't help but get some great action being this kind! There are five heroines. Choosing the preferred girl after school is usually enough to trigger event. The ninja/thief theme is not developed even in the Kasumi route, let alone the others. Hero actually needs to learn the way of the sword to protect girls from baddies in something akin to battles. Heroines are cute, but without voicing not that impactful. 29. Mahou no Palette 魔法のパレット [010427] Ivory 1 Jan lost his parents in a fire when he was a child. He now tries to become a painter and travels the land as his father did. He has two purposes in his journey: to polish his skills as a painter and to find the witch with a stone called "A Drop of the Moon," which appeared in his father's painting. Unfortunately, the painting was lost in the fire, but it remains in Jan's memory. No one believes in the existence of witches, but Jan's father believed it up until his death. Jan believes his father, and he finally arrives at the famous "witch-town" of Evenburg. Will Jan be able to finally meet the witch? This adventurous story takes place in the beautiful, medieval European-like town of Evenburg. The goal of the player (Jan) is to find the gem called "A Drop of the Moon." Throughout the quest, the player will meet many cute witches and experience exciting events with them! This title features a new "Attribute System," which appoints every witch a specific guardian gemstone. This system randomly decides which events will occur according to the personalities of the characters. For instance, if your character doesn't share matching attributes with the heroine, your character will never share the night with her! Play hard! Get the gem! Get your favorite girl!! Game mostly for magical girl fetish. There are five heroines. Difficulty is high. Story is usually incomprehensible or stupid with sudden baddie in the end. An average moege. 30. Mujintou Monogatari X.2001 ~Sugatanaki Akuma~ 無人島物語X.2001～姿なき悪魔～ [010427] Pinpai 1 A solitary island, growing thick with tropical rain forests, lies in the middle of the Northern Sea. 10 specialists from 2 countries are dispatched to gather samples of a new virus. They encounter this new virus, ferocious beyond their wildest dreams. . . Will this group be able to gather the new virus without being infected and make it off the island with their lives? Besides the new virus, which must be gathered to clear the game, you will encounter many different types of viruses and events that will really cause havoc. You will be confronted with many unrelated events on this tropical island. The island is dotted with many different and dangerous viruses. Through gathering all the different types, you'll have your very own virus collection! There is a camp site and girls that receive individual instructions what to explore or do. 8 simple virus patters are given to compare virus to. Only 10 days are given to finish the job and away from the island. There are no reviews, but, as you can see, gameplay is simplified in every field compared to ancient predecessors. And that finally concludes the long Mujintou Monogatari series history. 31. Oku-sama wa Miko? 奥さまは巫女？ [010427] Pajamas Soft Two childhood friends suddenly confess to protagonist. During the golden week he must decide which one he likes the most. Shrine maiden? Magic girl? Or maybe another childhood friend of maid type? Genre is comedy. Three heroines with different degree of depth - maid one being the weakest. Content is nothing extraordinary, quite satisfactory for its nieche. 32. Tricolore TRICOLORE -トリコロール- [010427] PL+US 1 One day, our hero receives a package from his father, the scientist. He opens it up to find a robot in the form of a girl. Her name is Shizu. His father asks him to monitor, teach, and train the robot. So begins the life of our hero and his robot. It all starts out with a lot of fun, but there is a secret hidden inside this robot: She has 3 separate personalities! Another robot girl training game that inherits all the predecessors disadvantages. The only good part here is that each personality has her own theme and more or less own story. But you won't get away without SIM elements like increasing communication value axis etc. BLOCKED 1. Sayonara o Oshiete has a good number of English reviews (1 2 3), plus reddit comments (4), but what strikes me is that all of them are positive despite some noticed flaws. But as a plotge fetishist and pragmatist to the bones, I demand demolition of fake idols. This bastion shall fall today. Nothing happens, like absolutely. Protagonist just visits three students out of five after school before going home. He sees some delusions involving the students. Getting into heroine route only tells us about each heroine specific theme. Just as theme starts to uncover there's the same abrupt end for each heroine. Credits. 2) Heroines totally lack charm. Sugamo Mutsuki is presented as a pure angel and supposedly main heroine. But pretty much the first H scene almost made me throw up. There's no realism or depth in the heroines, just specific theme and some cleverly written dialogues paired up with actually eminent voicing. 3) Protagonist is no good. He can be renamed and is an abstract mass of destruction delusions. He's impossible to sympathize with. 4) H scenes. Roughly only half of them are shocking, but the rest are quite conventional. And that's a huge problem for me. It looks like game bears some idea half of the time, but also wants to appeal to as many players as possible and becomes a plain nukige. From idea point of view For Elise ~Elise no Tame ni~ was perfect. H events in delusions were 100% appalling. Sayonara o Oshiete is basically about same horrible delusions, but with very sexy heroines sprites and often appealing H events. There's not enough real trash in H events. 5) Loli abuse. Can't deny - all loli scenes are drawn in a very traumatic way here. But I just detest any loli H events, especially such hardcore ones. I've seen transformation of nukige genres since the 80s. There has been shift to museum type vns, then to training SIMs, then to devil games, and currently I cautiously try to grasp when the shift to corruption visual novels happened. And Sayonara o Oshiete is the first candidate so far to be grandfather of all corruption games. With the half-measures Craftwork actually managed to depict sexy destruction, and that's no way a compliment considered that I detest corruption games the most. Horrible as it may sound, I'm relieved to see game translation project stalled, because completion would cause an outrageous reaction and backlash at Japanese developers due to very troubling content involving loli characters. The only definite strong sides of Sayonara o Oshiete are first-class voicing and great song theme. Visual and textual decisions are questionable. But for me the number of negative elements outweighs it all. The only lingering taste after the game is nausea, and I hope to forget it as a nightmare asap.

The masterpieces of the month are Silent Hill: Play Novel , Gensou Suikogaiden Vol. 2: Crystal Valley no Kettou. Silent Hill: Play Novel is the winner, mostly because Suikogaiden Vol. 1 was already the winner once. But I will play Sayonara o Oshiete ~Comment te Dire Adieu~ , because I need to work out my own position here. 1. Sayonara o Oshiete ~Comment te Dire Adieu~ さよならを教えて～comment te dire adieu～ [010302] Craftwork 1 2 3 4 5 6 7 The protagonist is a trainee teacher who commutes to a certain girls' school. Safely finishing the daily practice period, and becoming a regular teacher is his goal. However, his mind begins to tire. Uneasiness and nightmares come in sudden attacks, causing a strain, a social phobia, begins to grow more and more every day. Slowly a fear of the girls he meets with after school begins to emerge, yet at the same time, a desire and passion. Disgust, a kind of taboo, such a feeling is directed to the adult women who are his colleagues. "Am I really fit to be a teacher?" Day by day, the pressure builds. Even when the lessons are over, the lights are off, and the school is closed for another night. He cannot help but wander. There are English reviews. 2. I search for clues to regain Mi's memory. A silver gene of Mi gets her hunted by a mysterious organization. For me the only question is how faithfully the story of first Gao Gao is presented and what changes have been made to the story. And in that regard game's done very well. The changes are mostly introduction of more fanservice scenes and eradication of command selection. And that exactly posed the main problem of the game - with command selection gone game has become very short with just one route. I'm still glad Candle stayed loyal to the history, and it's just sad that the other parts of the series could not get a remastered version. 3. Sister Princess シスター・プリンセス [010308] MediaWorks 1 2 3 The premise behind Sister Princess is that an ordinary young man (the player) is made to live with twelve lovable little sisters, each with their own distinct quirks and personalities. Players have about a month to spend with the sisters with each day broken up into three segments: first is the free time period before noon, followed by the period after lunch and ending with another period of time before bed. During day time, the player can choose which of the girls he wishes to escort to school, if any. The period after lunch is similar to the one in the morning, with additional choices which allow the player to go to various places in town besides walking home with one of the girls. Every night before bed, the player will be allowed to check his e-mail and send replies. As the player continues to interact with the sisters, their reactions to their big brother will change accordingly until the ending. There are two different endings for each sister: the normal ending and the "non-blood relation" ending. As the name would suggest, the special ending reveals that the brother-character and sister are not actually related by blood. In the case of some of the older sisters, this can lead to the protagonist and "sister" marrying one another. There is an English review. 4. Condition Blue コンディション・ブルー [010309] PetitPack Main character visits pension "Grüné" to consider including it into a new tourist tour under premise "Let's return to nature!". He pretends to be an ordinary customer and inquires the local girls about the stories of the place. As he advances his investigation, he faces unexpected issues... As a feature of this work, we get tour selling points from the girls stories resulting in eight different tour types. Period is one week and one play time is between 1 and 2 hours. Difficulty level is low, but all these words gathering and different leaflets collecting is confusing. 5. Kurukuru Tenki wa Hanamaru Moyou くるくる天気は花丸模様 [010309] Ange 1 Located in the city of Abel Town, a small inn called Moku More Nittei serves mainly the local Sevito people. Very few humans ever come this way. Once in a while, the explorer Lime will show up with the elf Nashan. One day, a girl named Artia shows up with a treasure map. She claims there is buried treasure beneath one of the trees near the inn. Her announcement causes frenzied digging. These reckless attempts are finally stopped, but the atmosphere remains electric. On top of this, Lime shows up with the female swordsman, Gina, hot on his trail. The excitement and commotion grow... Type is normal ADV, but there are couple battles in each route. There are 7 heroines, and each route takes just from 1 to 4 days. So it's more about chasing girls than anything else. 6. Vie - Itsuka no Natsu no Hi. Vie-いつかの夏の日。 [010309] FlyingShine Main character is a third grader attending basketball club. One day on the way to morning training he saves a girl from a rampage car, but gets to the hospital instead. The injuries are insignificant and are to fully heal in a week time, but there are so many pretty doctors and nurses around that it would be a waste to miss on such opportunity! Looks like FlyingShine have not found themselves yet, but they are trying something absolutely new this time. They specialized on insult games, but now it's a moe hospital nakige. Stories are short and H events come relatively early. Thanks to Carnelian graphical part is flawless. The system is improved considerably from their earlier games. Game lacks depth, but it's the first serious looking game of FlyingShine. 7. Mermaid no Kisetsu マーメイドの季節 [010316] Game Village 1 2 3 The game follows Masato Takahata, a high-school sophomore, living alone, going to school classes and working a part-time at Aqua Rouge cafe. The setting is in the near future with technological advancements, but the living style didn't change that much. One day you find a strange note with an address of a home page. You check it out only to see the ominous warning text. While you're not trying to figure out the mystery behind it, you will traverse town meeting various people, mostly girls and women, with whom you'll work on relationship to become friends with, or something more. There is an English review. 8. Seika no Mori 盛夏の杜 [010316] Guts! 1 This is a visual novel with multiple scenarios, where the story changes depending upon your decisions. You will witness the love story of our hero Seiji Mizuno and his girlfriend Ayumi Takigawa. You will see their lives as circumstances evolve around them: The city and the country, as well as the past and the present. Please pay particular attention to the stage background brimming with emotion. Considered Guts background, it's useless to expect anything other than nukige, but let's try to dig deeper anyway. A boy and a girl date each other for a half a year, but can't become lovers still. They visit home town Bonbon festival, and boy decides to break up with the girl and tag along other girls. Loli characters and abuse of urination scenes add the finishing touches to the picture. 9. Tsubaki-iro no Prigione 椿色のプリジオーネ [010316] Mink Chairman of a huge company dies and his son is called back to Japan. He enjoys his life in the mansion with wonderful servants, but a murder occurs. He decides to hide the fact from publicity and investigate the case himself. There's no surprise game is ero-centered since it's Mink, but let's explore detective side. We need to choose rooms of this huge mansion and talk with the servants. Surprisingly enough, ero part is thin - just service time comes and we get one of four girl servants to do one of the service activities which takes exactly one HCG. In each route there is a different culprit, so repeatability is good. Anime version conveys the atmosphere of the game quite well. 10. Wing & Wind Ｗｉｎｇ＆Ｗｉｎｄ [010316] Clear 1 From an invitation from his sister, who lives in a small village close to a mountain, our main character uses his vacation time to go visit the village. Here, he meets eternal life, or in other words, the heroine, who carries the destiny of both never growing old and never dying. For the price of eternal life, the heroine is always avoided, the outcast, the outsider. Even with this life of solitude, our heroine leads a happy and bright life. Around this girl are her cousins, a very quiet girl, and a priestess. The simple, ordinary life of our hero is slowly being changed by meeting these girls. Type is a comedy even though such heavy topics like eternal life and death are involved. Game lacks depiction and details - e.g. the three friends of hero remain unnamed. There are four heroines. Difficulty level is high due to fake choices and the story going on naturally for some time after choices are failed. The atmosphere is ok, but there's not enough characters affinity. 11. Silent Hill: Play Novel [010321] KCET 1 2 3 4 5 Silent Hill: Play Novel is an adaptation of the original Silent Hill for Game Boy Advance in the form of visual novel. A visual novel is an interactive fiction game featuring mostly static graphics with text. At certain moments the game asks a player to make a choice between two or more possible variants which affect the following walkthrough. Such kind of games is very popular in Japan, however totally unpopular in the west, therefore Silent Hill: Play Novel was never released outside this country. The game offered two scenarios: for Harry and Cybil (available after completing Harry's Scenario). Also there were four additional scenarios available for download, the main hero of which was the boy named Andy. However Konami ended the download service after a short time. Besides the narration the game features a couple of puzzles and multiple endings. After reaching the ending a player is awarded with Digital Trading Cards - 32 in total for all scenarios. He is pleased to be among familiar faces, but learns that his first love has passed away from contracting the same disease. As his unfulfilled dreams tear at his heart, our hero begins to build relationships with different women. They confront him with their worries. As he goes about trying to help them, he begins to reconsider his own predicament in life. "Is it enough to merely exist until dying?" As our hero confronts death, his psychological portrayal is truly remarkable. Game proceeds by choosing icon on the map. What's surprising is the amount of uneventful small talk for a dying person. The number of heroines is just 3 instead of announced 5. Without patch game does not launch. There is no impact. 25. One playthrough takes two hours for 5 in-game days (till hero becomes 20 years old). 26. This is a zapping style AVG. Playthrough only takes 2 hours. There is zapping system, but there's no real need to zap points of view, story feels as a single road. Our hero runs a detective agency here in a city, that would remind one of London. Everything from simple robberies, exterminations by organized crime, to incidents connected to the royal family come our hero's way. Many different types of requests are brought to Anthony. In the beginning, Anthony had to solve the problems by himself; however with his growing business, he brings in a female partner to help him out. With this new partner's help, cases are cracked much more effectively. Special events also begin to happen with this added intimacy. This is a crime and mystery game, where trouble brings more trouble, and encounters bring even more encounters. Will you be able to solve all of the cases with your beautiful partner? System is quite irritating as each day there's the need to wander around time, sometimes in vain, and time for each incident is limited. Based on observation report is done, and if it's perfectly complete, the case is solved. So it's not a story-focused work, and thus not really interesting. 30.
