SeaBed is a curious VN. One of my favorite VNs in 2016 and reading it again in English was every bit as wonderful as when I first read it.
SeaBed very unique in a way that doesn't stand out. You could describe it as a psychological mystery, which isn't wrong, but is quite far from what the story sets out to do. Even calling it a Yuri-game feels bit wrong since that makes it seem like the main characters being two women in love is something special, when it just completely normal.
That's what SeaBed is mostly, mundane. It's people living their lives. Reminiscing past vacations, trips around the world, and all the silly stuff they did when they were younger. Dealing with their problems. Feeling sad for the things they've lost and things they can't remember. And continuing to living their lives.
SeaBed is also written in a way that emphasises this. The style is actually really unique, but it's very easy to overlook since everything feels so mundane. The narration is very passive, distant, emotionless. Most everything is described in the same matter of fact manner that lacks the normal emotional elements we usually expect from narration. The characters don't judge what's happening, normal and unnatural, reality and dreams are all taken in as they are. To me reading Seabed felt like reading my old travel diaries. The events and cursory thoughts are there, but the emotions are lacking. Our feelings feel so obvious at the moment that the thought of writing them down doesn't even cross our minds. Yet reading this diary afterwards, and I'm left wondering how I really felt back then.

It's also lack of dramatisation that makes SeaBed stand out. We don't consider our lives especially special, and don't make huge fuss of the events that may occur. Most of the time we only realise the change afterwards, if there were any in the first place. SeaBed also refuses to make a show out of anything. In SeaBed, an event or piece of information that could be framed as a huge plot-twist in any other VN is dealt with the same normalcy as everything. With the same "I see".
This kind of "flatness" was very refreshing to me. By refusing the comply with the rules and structure we expect from drama, SeaBed weaves a very relatable, humane, and ultimately very touching story. Slice-of-Life is there to remind that there's joy to be found in mundane, that it too can be special. SeaBed goes step further and shows that mundane is just how thing are, and it's neither good or bad.

TLDR; SeaBed is pretty unique and really hard to explain.
And it's definitely not as boring as my ramblings might suggest. There's the mystery which is pretty intriguing and the characters are really good. That said I don't blame anyone for finding the unorthodox writing styling really boring and uninteresting, although I personally really like it. It has this dreamy, kind of hypnotic feeling to it. The non-linearity, slow pace, and the mundaneness of it can also be off-putting to some.
But for those looking for unique experiences, SeaBed can be something special.
And do try the demo. Seeing it for yourself will surely tell more than any of my attempt to express it.
Oh, I guess I should mention that the presentation is really good for doujin VN, and the soundtrack is great and very fitting.

SeaBed wasn't really discussed, at least, not the game itself. I'm reading it right now, and it looks pretty awesome so far.

I don't have a PS3 D: I heard about Fruitbat when they announced Little Busters with Doki, then I got interested in Miniature Garden - again, a great title. Magical Eyes is also in my to-read list, but honestly I forgot about it, so thank you for reminding me.
I'm also thinking on giving up on my backlog and starting a new list with games I will read in the next few months, as there are many already that I'll probably never really read, while many, many others keep getting released. Now with this last MG bundle I got at least 2 or 3 more VNs than I was already planning (only Higurashi before).
However, I'm not as old in the medium as many here are, but to have so many options, so many good quality translations in such a small timeframe makes me very happy. When I began reading VNs, there were only those "50 vns to read in your life" that were actually good. Clannad was still machine translated, only Jast released stuff, even Fuwa was still a website focused on torrents.
I have to thank not only Fruitbat but also everybody who is making this genre grow in the west, and I'll keep helping how I can, both buying and giving back to the community.

My VN backlog keeps increasing, I stopped being able to keep up anymore around a few months ago, especially with all the releases this year.
Yeah he is, Fruitbat Factory also did the Eiyuu senki PS3 localization. And Magical Eyes - Red is for Anguish as well.

You're from Fruitbat? If so, this will be my second experience with the group, being the first reading Miniature Garden - which deserves a lot more attention that it gets - so I have high expectations with this. There are still very few yuri and yaoi games translated, so it is always nice to see a group getting into translating them.

Late to report this, but we finally have this VN released - congratulations for the release. For anyone else who already got the copy, have fun.
I see, well I'll keep in mind about everyday going-ons there when I read this.

We just got a playable demo for our upcoming yuri-themed visual novel SeaBed up. To play it, just navigate to the Steam page and click "Download Demo".
The demo features around the first hour of gameplay from the visual novel and focuses on two of the main characters: Sachiko and Takako.
The upcoming release (as well as the demo) has English and Japanese language options and its graphics have been upgraded to 1440x1080 resolution, with support for multiple resolutions.
The game's currently being reviewed by Zakamutt on behalf of Fuwa, so you can look forward to some impressions there too, but in the meantime why not check it out for yourself?
The full game is out December 19. The full game has an estimated playtime of 20-30 hours.

    Synopsis
SeaBed is a critically acclaimed yuri-themed mystery visual novel told through the perspectives of three separate characters: Mizuno Sachiko, a designer plagued by hallucinations of her past lover; Narasaki Hibiki, Sachiko's friend and a psychiatrist researching the workings of human memories; and Takako, Sachiko's former lover who has been rapidly forgetting her past, including how or why the two women drifted apart despite being together since childhood.
All three live in different worlds, but seek the same goal. To separate truth from illusion. To make sense of their own lives.
I'm personally super excited for the game, and looking forward to your impressions!

Well they just doujin company, so I think it's understandable if they want to save money in regard of the seiyuu, and not to mention the recording process. Oh this VN was all ages anyway, so unfortunately there's no explicit yuri sex scenes where the girls would be do the moaning - from the demo there's only one that going to that direction, and it was fade to black after both girls ready. Not that I would suggest any children to read Seabed there, because it's obviously too difficult to understand by the children.
Anyway, congratulation for the demo release there and from the picture I admit that it's my reason to try this VN, although apparently there's more behind that so I'll look forward to the final release and play it fully if possible.

With funding at over 85% and us approaching the final week of the campaign, we updated the stretch goals (making the event CG rewards cheaper) and revealed the remaining stretch goals, including funding for an all-new side story Chuusotsu - 1.5th Graduation: The Moving Castle.
We also already unlocked one free event CG from the Thunderclap campaign, and if we can get 70 more Supporters there in the next 6 days, a second CG will be added too.
Quite a few of our backers have said they come from Fuwa, so... thank you all

Looks like this VN was quite interesting (It's length was short though), considering that it's got 7.8 average score at VNDB although it's not say much though (One of the voters was moogy who gave another 8 again for this VN after Seabed). Neverthless, I'd quite intersted with this and good luck on the Kickstarter out there.

Chuusotsu - 1st Graduation is getting a western release by Fruitbat Factory! We have a Prefundia page up for the upcoming Kickstarter project.
It's a new all-ages visual novel by Studio Beast (NSFW link), the circle that made J.Q.V Jinrui Kyuusai-bu ~With Love from Isotope~. Chuusotsu is an HD wide-screen title and it's getting a dual language release (English and Japanese).
This is our first Kickstarter project and we welcome all feedback with open arms!
Here is some art from the game:
