To be quite honest, I haven't and don't plan to do an in-depth comparison of the Japanese text from the original, the steam release and the vita port.
If you've seen their two failed Kickstarts you should know, NextNinja is kinda sketchy. So i wouldn't be surprised if they stole parts of the Vita version / were heavily 'inspired' by it.

Fact however is, they didn't add the new scenes or audio from the vita version to fill the gaps the cutting of the sex scenes left.

Like you said the story is untouched and ChuSinGura being a story-rich game, it can probably be enjoyed as is.
Nonetheless as far as an all-ages version goes, the vita version would be far superior with smoother transitions, whereas the Steam version is done rather lazily.

I haven't played or even touched the "butchered" version of IMHHW, so I am not familiar with.
But as Toranth already mentioned the story of ChuSinGura has been left intact.
Personally I would never play a "cut" game unless I have played the complete game first.
But I doubt you speak Japanese, so that might not be an option, unless someone releases a fantranslation/restauration patch.

As the full game has only been released for a few days i would suggest waiting a few weeks or months to see if someone intends to do a patch.

If you just want to enjoy the story, the cut perverted scenes with boobs showing etc might not be necessary.
The important thing about sex scenes is giving yourself to your partner, emotional borders being broken down, the characters getting closer and so on.
So in my opinion just cutting those scenes leaves a gap in the progression of the relationship. You should at least know sex happened.

Another option would be to play the original and the steam version side by side, so you don't miss out on the sex scenes.
If you put both of them on auto with one muted and stop the steam version once a sex scene comes up that shouldn't be a problem.
(understanding sex scenes is possible even with very limited knowledge of Japanese)

If you want to know wether you should buy the game on steam.
Go ahead, it's on sale atm and I have dozens of games on steam I will never play...

TBH this thread has become far more than I wanted it to. While I appreciate the great feedback here on the VN as a recommendation, I do not like the spoilers.

The mobage port is a pay to win version of the PC game where you play like 1 minute of the game and then need to buy scenario tickets to see the next 5 lines.
It`s not build off the vita version.
They got the assets from Inre and made a mobage out of it, nothing to do with the Vita version.

It is not, the rights holders are "Dramatic Creates", the publishers of "ChuSingura46+1 V" which was exclusively released in Japan for the PS Vita, it was confirmed multiple times by the english publishers that they do not hold the rights of the PS Vita version "ChuSingura46+1 V", "Dramatic Creates" solely does. They have confirmed however that they acquired the rights of the developers "inre" who are also the publishers of the 18+ PC version "ChuSingura46+1", they therefore had to work with what they had (the 18+ PC version developed and published by "inre") to create the "ChuSingura46+1 S" version that was released on Steam.

They have stated they don't have the rights to the Vita version several times.
Where do you people get such exclusive info?

The PSV version added new scenes and recorded new lines to make the up for the gaps caused by the removal of sex scenes.
The Steam version redrew some CGs, but that's it.
    The sexy just got cut.

Another update to announce that there’s an Android version of the demo available on Google Play!
You can now read it on your phone or tablet~

Our Kickstarter is currently 20% funded so do take a look at the demo if you haven't tried yet, and don't hesitate to support us if you liked it
Chronotopia is also 42% on its way to the top of Greenlight so we need your vote!

Well, my collaborators don’t always mention their political convictions when we’re working together so, yes, I’m genuinely surprised!
Anyay, thank you for giving us a second chance! Indeed, Chronotopia will very likely be a long game since I have a bad tendency of writing a lot. That’s why the price is a little higher than with other visual novel: we have to price the content accordingly, after all. I think you can have a good glimpse of that with the demo which is also quite long!
    Thank you for your support

Well, the most important thing that takes first priority over all else is the game itself afterall so a physical copy of the game takes precedence over any other physical rewards, second priority would be physical OST and physical Artbook.
I wouldn't mind a Collector's Edition or Deluxe Box set that contains all 3 of these items. (given that it's not some unreasonably high price like 250 USD+).
Here is an example of the recent campaigns I supported and which tiers I chose:
Root Double, 125 USD Reward Tier Collector's Edition:

Muv-Luv, 220 USD Reward Tier Muv-Luv Alternative CODEX:

ChronoClock, 175 USD Reward Tier Deluxe Box Set + Fan Book:

It is not, the PS Vita version rights belongs to the publisher "Dramatic Creates", the publisher of the Steam version only pocess the rights of the PC Version from the developers themselves, "inre".
There are presently 3 different versions of ChuSingura46+1:
    ChuSingura46+1 (PC, 18+, Japan Exclusive)
    ChuSingura46+1 V (PS Vita, All-Ages, Japan Exclusive)
    ChuSingura46+1 S (Steam, All-Ages)
ChuSingura46+1 S is the Japanese PC version censored for Steam release, with cut content and editings toward content that would fall under the "18+" classification. As of right now "ChuSingura46+1 S", it is the only way to play the game in english.

Yes we are! We're currently funding the demo ourselves, but unfortunately, we aren't able to fund the whole visual novel.
In return for the support, we are planning on releasing this game for free. It'll hopefully be a way for us to support the (western) visual novel industry.
Next to the game, some of us are also working on spreading the word about the game. We're also building a website and creating a prefundia. We're making sure that everything's there before we launch a kickstarter.

As we're working on the final assets now, we're planning to have the demo released this Fall!
    Stay tuned!

This patch was released ahead of schedule and without any discussion among the team, possibly in error. It also contains content I was previously informed it would not contain.
I would especially recommend people NOT touch the Azusa route in its current state, as it is lacking an additional pass I would have liked to do for it, contains numerous typos, does not contain most of the stylistic matters that were still being hammered out, and does not reflect the level of quality I had hoped for. I also would have liked to have done some additional light work on elements of the common route, but alas.

    Hello guys!
After some intensive work, we've finally been able to free up some time for another update!
We have three new characters! You'll encounter them in the demo soon. Here's a little preview of one of the Fallen:

We would also like to share a preview of the beautiful background work:

Not only do we have new backgrounds finished, we have also updated some of the older ones.

We decided that even though we really love the orange lights in the previous versions, the "warm" feeling does not really fit the mood of the story. That's why we changed it to a colder color, with added details! We will follow this style for the other backgrounds as well.
We are also continuing our work on the writing, music, GUI and scripting.
Hope to see you guys at the next update!

    Project Introduction
    After making my way through KimiNozo and KimiAru and doing much better than I expected I decided to take a stab at translating something myself. A few days ago I slammed the gauntlet on the table looking for everything I needed to get this going, and @CryingWesternwas the first one to have the balls to pick it up. I'm not making promises that this is going to be the most amazing job anyone has ever done - as my Japanese has progressed I've gone from converting Japanese to English to understand it, to simply having an English OS and a Japanese OS. As a result the link between the two has dissolved a bit,  but my translation should still make more sense to you than the Japanese. Probably. (^_^);
The plan is for me to do the translating and CryingWestern has said he will make the patch from there, so no additional help will be needed for now. It could probably use a second set of eyes to look for typos/missing words some point (like that), but we'll cross that bridge when we come to it.
I'm going to spend a lot of the day preparing for a conference over the weekend, but plan to get started Monday (or possibly Tuesday depending on the damage done by the drive and Never Ending Pasta Bowl as soon as Olive Garden opens on Monday). Looking over the script it's roughly 4600 lines and I'm going to shoot for 50 lines/day. That sounds like a doable pace that won't burn me out. IF everything goes according to plan (snort) before the end of January seems like a realistic timeline for a release.
Before everyone asks, I'm not promising to do all of the Drama CDs, but if this goes well and CryingWestern slowly brings me along to script dumping/patch making/etc. or continues to do it for me it's possible. Right now it's one step at a time with focus on the translating. Ultimately I'm a full time entrepreneur and if I could get enough Patreon or similar support to put in 20, 30, 40 hours per week I'm theoretically open to the possibility, but that is getting several steps ahead of ourselves. Let's see if I actually finish this before we talk about doing vol.2-5, Koutetsu no Majo Annerose, KimiAru, Tsujidou-san no Jun'ai and Virgin Road and everything else that's not in English. Just about everyone who undertakes something like this tends to underestimate what it takes to get it finished, and I'm not claiming to be an exception. Yet.

    - EcchiOujisama (Translation)
    - CryingWestern (Script dumping, patch making, whatever else I'm not giving proper credit for from script dumping to final product)
    Update History
9/28/2016 - Scripts dumped by CryingWestern.
    9/29/2016 - This post bay-bee!
Went through it and there may be less to do than originally thought. Of the two scenarios on the disc, I'm thinking the longer one might be mostly/completely recycled from the first Majikoi. Waiting for confirmation. If that's the case I won't have to translate it and the new content will be done in twice the original estimated timeframe. Because that's how fan projects roll. That last bit about twice the estimated time was a joke. Hopefully.
10/2/16 - There is now something semi-resembling something of the website. I'm also recruiting someone to check Hajime no Majikoi in the Drama CD against the original game to see how much of it has already been done (no Japanese ability required). You'll get copies of the script, copy from the Drama script, open a search box and paste the Japanese line. If an exact match is found, highlight, copy and paste from Majikoi to Drama CD. You'll get full credit, a bunch of thanks and as many 0 yen coins as you can carry for your trouble.
10/3/16 - First actual day of translating in the bag. I went through the segments that play when you close the game (albeit with some questions about what's going in two of them) and got into the new scenario. After I did the first 9 lines I went through the scripts and changed all of the name displays from Japanese to English, each of which count as its own line of text. After spending a few hours making all of the name changes I'm mathematically way of ahead of schedule on top of doing 30 real lines of work. One more for the bad guy.
Blog and El Machina de Twitter
I set up a site for translations at https://ecchioujisama.wordpress.com/ although there is literally nothing on it right now.now with something! I also set up a Twitter account, but because I had the nerve not to follow a shitton of people immediately after creating it, those douchebags locked it.
    (╯°□°)╯︵ ┻━┻
I'll post that if/when it gets unlocked.

So let's get this straight, I dislike the fact that popular/great VNs are slowly entering the steam market. To me, it's not the platform itself, but it's cancerous community with those AAA games elites, price complainers, "and ples where is the hentai?" groups of people. And what's more, I don't want to see high quality VNs in the same store as OELVN, they ain't comparable. What prompted me was last time when I was browsing through Meikyuu steam community, I have seen some many posts complaining and nagging about the prices.
"novel games are over priced" "not paying 20$ for cut H game" "kajitsu is longer why dis same price"
Stuff like this really triggers me, do you secondary weeb (oh no here we go) know how much I am paying for every original hard copy VN? To the point where I am starting to think these people don't deserve to even be able to view VN, tho it might be going against Fuwa ideals. And I ma moving towards the learn JP or don't read it, path.
What do you guys think? Fuck you Sakura series, little shitty misrepresentation of a VN to the West.
