  1. what the hell does shovel knight and left 4 dead 2 have to do with any of this?
  2. i knew it. fiskars, you're all just a bunch of psychopaths. no wonder your scissors are so sharp
  3. i can't really say any of these things are the most important to me, it can't really be good unless it has at least decent everything. i happen to be a big fan of the combination of writing and music done well, but characters, art, story, pacing etc. can all make or break a vn for me
  4. i'm generally not a big fan of heavy moe artstyles, but i like ooishi ryuuko's work because DEM COLOURS!!! my favourite artist is jen zee by a LONG way but she doesn't do vns (sigh)
  5. i started the obligatory ghibli marathon a few days ago. oddly enough, grave of fireflies didn't make me cry, but my neighbor totoro did. i wonder what that says about me
  6. yes, it's jast usa so they're all in english
  7. bought. also, i do like horny bunnies, thank you
  8. this may be useful http://rockmandash12.kinja.com/rockmandashs-guide-to-tablets-for-vns-1753537859
  9. as far as i can recall, i've only discovered 2 new ones from vns, both from imouto paradise: girl using her panties in a handjob with a sleeping girl (well at least she seemed to enjoy it, judging from the things she said in her sleep. right?)
  10. i was literally just typing that i can't really determine the boundary between plot and no plot you could try it yourself, it's not that long
  11. i'd be able to help you if it was linux, but there's some steam vns that work on mac
  12. always happy to see planetarian still topping that list
  13. https://vndb.org/c4769 also, dunno if it helps, but https://vndb.org/i605
  14. of course it can, but then chances are western gamers won't give it a second glance. i think that's the point, it's about association let's not repeat that painful discussion about vns in the west from last week though
  15. indeed, but i don't quite see your point there. anyway, i just thought it sounded nice and was linguistically more accurate than visual or sound novel audiovisual novel? reading game? textfilm? i'll get my coat
  16. just thinking aloud here, i think the term 'visual novel' neglects the fact that music plays a BIG role in them, so why not call it a 'multimedia novel' or something
  17. what about planetarian then? that doesn't really fit into that formula
