I'm going to be fair and try to make a varied harem where every heroine is from a differnet VN. If I didnt a lot of my heroines would be way too similar Nice/Energetic/Friendly Childhood friends
Kotori Kanbe from Rewrite - Friendly and goofy but surprisingly deep childhood friend

Riho from Deardrops - Ultimate Savage Punk Rock Tsundere

Elina  from Dracu-Riot - Ultimate Pervert Tease

Kazuki - Ultimate Stoic Smart one

Yukie - Ultimate Shy and nice but friendless one. Need someone with boobs and good physical fighting

Only possible issue is I have is two white hair girls and too many boob sizes on the smaller side but it's hard to find equal better versions of Kazuki/Elina personality-wise I like.

Hey everyone! It's been a little longer than anticipated, but the seventh episode of the Broadcast Club is finally out!
    http://thebroadcast.club/2017/09/18/episode-7-popular-visual-novels/
We talked about popular VNs on this episode with the one and only, Cornetto_Man a long time member and moderator of /r/visualnovels. Cornetto has read a ton of VNs, so he was an awesome addition to the cast this time around.
Nope, we didn't forget about the cast, or decide to stop doing it or anything. A number of factors led to delaying this latest episode nearly an entire month from our target date. Unfortunately, that's just how it worked out this time. However, we should be back on track now! I was contacted by a few people over the last few weeks asking about it, and to anyone who didn't reach out to one of us asking about the next episode, but was wondering about it, many apologies for the extended delay!
As always, thanks for listening, and we're always willing to hear what you have to say about the cast!
    Hope you enjoy!

As this cast was actually recorded in mid-late August, our news is a bit out of date on some points, but I felt there was value in leaving it in, so my apologies if Subahibi KS speculation is not particularly interesting to you anymore.

I'd like to start a new Discussion series to not make these topics just postings of the episodes and here your guys' thoughts:
Why do you think certain VNs are more popular than others?
What VNs are you surprised aren't more popular or more highly read? What are your hidden gems that don't get talked about much?
How much does a VN's popularity play into your own reading choices?
With more companies shifting focus to the West, are you more excited about official translations of older titles, or simultaneous releases of new ones in both Japanese and English?

Seems like whenever you have a visual novel bracket popularity contest you always gotta beware the SAW

Anyway as many people were predicting by the end, Steins;Gate won the whole thing but the final was kinda close.

Question 1: How much did you like the contest?

Question 2: Were there any matches where you voted only having seen an (anime) adaptation and not having read the original visual novel?

    ----
Visual Novel Power Rankings (By Voting Popularity)

Based on a formula from another forum that has experience with bracket contests I found a way to get a general idea of the general popularity of each visual novel that got into the contest.

Basically we do math to get a general idea of what % of the vote a visual novel would get against the strongest entry in the contest. In this case, Steins;Gate. For simplicity sake, we'll put the strongest entrant at 50.00% just to show it's #1.
Feel free to take away these lists as a general way to point out how popular the VNs are with the voters comparatively. That said, don't take this list as the be all end all since in the end most of these are just mathematical guesstimations. Some matches could have entrants slightly lower than others beat another based on a matchup.
Here is a list of the ranking of all the visual novels.

    ----
    Finally, Ultimate Loser is..
    Sekien no Inganock!
    Steins;Gate > Fate/Stay > Umineko > Muv-Luv > DanganRonpa 2 > Sharin no Kuni > Hoshimemo > Sekien no Inganock

There have been best VN guy and best VN girl contests on /r/visualnovels. I've surprised there hasn't been just a general best visual Novel contest. I want to include as many major VN communities as I can with voting so I wanted to make sure to run it by this forum. I won't spam the forum with topics/posts with this contest I promise.

I'm mostly gonna follow the format done with previous bracket contests. Some ground rules:
    * If an entrant has a vndb page (v+number URL), it is considered eligible for this contest
    * In the nomination form, please put the v+the number from the vndb link of the VN you want to nominate (e.g. "v5" nominates Little Busters)
    * With that said we once nomination voting starts we're actually going to merge most series together into one entrant each. So stuff like Muv-Luv+Muv-Luv Alternative are together, Umineko+Chiru will be together, Ace Attorney will be together, DanganRonpa will be together, MajiKoi original+S+A, Fate/Stay+Hollow, all parts of Baldr Sky etc. Nominate all parts you think are worthy enough to be included in the series and we'll fit em in.
    * General exceptions are where series may have similar names or in the same universe but have wildly different characters/stories. For example the Infinity series (Never7, Ever17, Remember11) would all be separate, Chaos; series + Steins; series + Robotics; series would all be separate, Grisaia trilogy and Phantom Trigger are separate, etc.
    * If you think any particular series should be merged together or kept separate, please leave a comment in this topic.
    * Don't worry about nominating untranslated VNs or otomes or BL or nukiges or heavy gameplay VNs that are usually seen as JRPGs/Fighting Games. All of those are allowed as they are on vndb!
    * Even if a single visual novel has had multiple releases/expansions we'll be nominating based on its VN page not any release page (so all Go Go Nippon and Clannad releases would each be nominated as v7316 and v4 respectively).
    * Feel free to submit a vote form multiple times to nominate more than 15 visual novels. I just used 15 as an arbitrary number so the form doesn't get too big.
All currently nominated visual novels will be kept track in a Google Document here:

Nice! This was an interesting listen. A little bit of random commentary from me:
I have to admit I kind of roll my eyes whenever I hear people griping about Chrono Clock's localization, since it's honestly one of the better VN translations that's come out in the last year by my lights (I dunno, 80th percentile? 90th percentile?). I get that DD's Japanese interjections are controversial, and I admit I find them annoying as hell too, but I have yet to hear anybody offer any suggestion which I actually believed was a better alternative to capture her bizarre speech. One thing worth mentioning that I've heard is about the way DD is perceived by Japanese readers: apparently her constant English interjections in the original actually come off as incredibly annoying. So, if you find her annoying in translation, perhaps you could say the translator actually nailed her character.
I personally find Chrono Clock's frequent British slang even more off-putting, but that decision is even more clearly just a judgement call (if a bad one, IMO, purely from a perspective of sales). The bigger issues with the translation are the horrifying mixture of past and present tense (which I have yet to see a single other person complain about, but which seriously sets my teeth on edge), and the periodic awkward phrasing and mistakes which mostly lurked in some of the clearly unedited routes I played in the initial release. There are still a fair number of proofing errors in the script of the version I'm playing (which I think is the current 18+ release?). It's a shame they rushed the release to meet a deadline, instead of taking the extra month of polish the game could have used.
I also don't know how much access to writers people usually get when officially localizing a VN. My understanding, at least, is that that's the exception, not the rule. I'd love it if that became the norm, but I'm pretty sure the typical story today is that license holders and localization companies talk, and then the localization companies then typically hand off scripts to contractor translation teams who basically work on their own. The original developers and writers (i.e., typically not the Japanese license holders) usually don't get pulled in at all (after all, the writers themselves are often contractors as well, and they've long since finished what they contracted for). So, while that's a nice vision of the world, I doubt it happens all that often. But I do dearly hope things move more in that direction, and it does make me happy to hear it happens at least some of the time (this is, honestly, the first such anecdote I've heard).
