actually i'd be very surprised if even half of the people who've watched the series knew that. assume they did; the show is still not the priceless work of artistic expression that people make it out to be. it is not god's gift to the anime community.

it's a sub-par mecha anime with an absurd plot, shallow character design and development, and meaning that only the individual viewer can see. it's a poor story with poor delivery. all of these things, even combined, are completely acceptable. treating people like sh** because they don't like an anime that you enjoy is unacceptable, and it is this because of this attitude by the fan base in addition to the anime being utterly garbage that I believe Evangelion to be the worst anime ever made.

Have you made a thread on the lemma-soft board about this VN? It's a community of visual novel creators. There's a forum called 'work in progress' where you let people know information concerning upcoming visual novels.

The art looks very pretty, but I'm usually more concerned with the writing. I can't find any examples of the writing in the game, and that makes me a little sad. There's plenty of pretty visual novels being made, but very few with good writing.

    Good luck.

As an avid fan of Eushully, I felt Madou Koukaku was a weaker title.  The storyline was good, but the gameplay was tedious (micromanagement of 30+ territories and constantly pausing battles to micromanage unit actions and movement), imbalanced (difficulty spikes in mid-game and then drops off like a rock), and suffered from control issues (precise movements and maintaining attack range).  With other titles that have strong storylines AND more refined gameplay (like Ikusa Megami Zero and Verita), it's hard to recommend Madou Koukaku as *the* Eushully title to play--though it provides a good contrast to Kamidori Alchemy Meister, which had a weak storyline and great gameplay.

That said, when it comes to gameplay titles Eushully doesn't have much competition.  Only 23 Japanese PC titles with the VNDB RPG or Strategy tags were released in 2013.  Around 30% of those were doujin and therefore had no production values behind them.  The only other notable full-length gameplay titles during this period IMO were Pastel Chime 3 Bind Seeker (Alicesoft), Gears of Dragoon (Ninetail), Venus Blood -GAIA- (Ninetail / Dualtail), and Bunny Black 3 (Softhouse Chara).

With these font shenanigans slowing us down, we figured it would be best to just choose one and move forward. Everything image-related is still in it's rough draft, the font probably shouldn't be top priority.

Spears, naginata, and pikes were the primary weapons of first-choice for a samurai in battle.  Using a club or an axe, similar to a sword, required the samurai to get closer to his enemy, thus making him more vulnerable to those with a longer reach.  Also, I never said that the katana was a samurai's primary weapon, I merely mentioned its advantages as a sword.  Swords have rarely been a primary weapon in battle by any force (with the exception of some two-handed swords such as the greatsword, certain large claymores, and the like).  I said that the forging methods used in the katana were unique and amazing amongst pre-industrial cultures.

Also, the katana started out - like most swords - as a weapon of last-resort, when the haft of their spear, pike, or naginata broke or they found themselves otherwise weaponless.

Edit:  Incidentally, the kanabou is basically a large club with an iron sheath and spikes or studs... and it was rarely used simply because of the sheer strength it required to use it effectively.  It was a given that most common soldiers wouldn't be able to use it, and even a person with a naturally large frame would have difficulties wielding such a weapon effectively past the initial blow.  The spear, the pike, and the naginata, all of which were lighter and had better reach, were the common weapons of those fighting in Japan during the feudal era.  The katana/wakizashi combination we are so familiar with from samurai movies and the like only became a near-absolute standard after Tokugawa formalized the status of the samurai as a warrior caste.  The katana was also more effective as a weapon for police forces in the large cities, as longer weapons tended to be difficult to wield in confined spaces in comparison.  That, and the duels were the reason for the ridiculous degree to which kenjutsu developed in the centuries after the end of the warring states period.

Last, the main reason that all born samurai were trained in multiple weapons, including the spear and the pike, was because one of the duties of a born samurai who wasn't a daimyo was the direct training of foot troops and militia in the use of the 'simple' weapons.  The naginata, which requires more skill and training to use effectively than the spear or the pike (not to mention that it was mostly a cavalry weapon) was not a good choice for the training of new recruits.  While samurai were warriors, it was almost unheard of during the warring states period for a fighting force to use them as its primary force, though archer units tended to have a higher ratio of samurai to ashigaru than in the spear or pike units.  Samurai were officers, champions, and drill sergeants all in one (though a skilled/experienced ashigaru would be set to training the troops in a more established force, with the necessary wealth to maintain a large semi-professional force).

There were 3 ways to deal with folk wearing heavy armour. A) You pierced the joints (cutting attacks were useless). B) You broke the bones underneath the armour using heavy, impact weapons. C) You knocked the enemy off his feet and finished him off on the ground. This is why polearm weapons weapons and war hammers were so popular.

Maces were popular because they bypassed armour using option B. The effectiveness depended on the thickness of the plate, the force of impact and the mace itself. But they were fairly effective.

This is an image of a promotional poster for the smashing pumpkins album mellon collie and the infinate sadness, that I created on a special black paper that you carve away sections of. Although I made this way too late to actually advertise the album, I would still like to make a poster of this one day.

This is a relief print I made from a small rectangle of linoleum. The image on the left is the first print, the one on the right is the second.

This is a sketch of a girl from the annual zombie walk in Lawrence, Kansas. I was trying to decide on a way to make the skin on her cheek look like it's rotting away. I'am currently in the process of coloring this one, and will upload the finished picture when I can.

The truth has been spoken .

I would suspect that VNs have a similar problem to games. They need to justify charging 50 bucks (or whatever it is) for the game, so they must ensure the game is of a length. For 50 bucks, people might want, say, 30 hours of reading. Can we truly get 30 hours of narrative that is to the point with meaningful characterization? Not that easy, certainly. That number must still be met, though, and so padding happens.

By "experiment", I was referring to an act conducted by a sentient being--which excludes all of prehistory.

From my admittedly shallow study of world climate over the course of the 4 billion years of Earth's history, it can be summed up as follows.  The world was largely tropical until the Carboniferous period, when plants spread across the world and soaked up much of the CO2, causing a global cooling that has cycled ever since.  Much of this carbon remains locked in organic matter both under the Earth (fossil fuels) and frozen in permafrost.  By burning fossil fuels, we are releasing this carbon back into the atmosphere as CO2.  While the amounts we contribute are rather insignificant, the problem is that even a small change in global climate could cause further release of carbon (in the form of methane) from the permafrost as the organic material thaws and begins to rot (essentially a chain reaction), and because melting ice contributes to a feedforward loop of more of the sun's radiation being absorbed by the planet (since water absorbs more radiation than ice).  The resulting model of climate change is known as runaway climate change.

Here's a chart that shows how C02 levels have tracked with global temperatures over geologic time.  Methane is another important greenhouse gas which this particular chart doesn't track.
