    Titan Souls

Anyone interested in Titan Souls? It's a top-down Shadow of the Colossus-esc game that is being advertised as really challenging.. It's coming out on April 14th but a demo with 3 fights is available now on steam. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9AV4Cd7wdpA I was pretty hyped for it and will definitely still buy it, but the demo has left me iffy as to how great of an experience it will be. The demo has three fights, all of which (Along with most of the fights shown in the trailer) follow designs I've seen before in Zelda games. Of the three bosses, two died in one hit and one -which had two phases- died in two hits. There was little puzzle to them, what you needed to do was obvious from looking at them. The difficulty stems from you having a very small window for the shots that kill them and that they kill you in one hit as well. Each of the demo fights took me a couple minutes to complete, with my final fights with each boss lasting a manner of seconds. Not original, not challenging, not memorable, not replayable. Hopefully the actual game will have more original boss designs that require a bit more than waiting for an opening and firing one shot. Even if it doesn't end up being a very memorable experience, from what I've seen of the demo it will still be a fun playthrough.
  3. Epic. I just played it untranslated a few months back, as I didn't know there was a tl project going on. Just applied the patch, might give it another playthrough at some point.
  4. Don't think it needed a direct sequel, but W/E
  5. Not too many translated, genderbending-focused VNs. For traps you've got KiraKira, Heart de Roommate, and Otomaid@Cafe. Kirakira would be my first suggestion there, and you seem to already be planning on playing it. For sex-change you've got the X-change series and Seitenkan, a rather fucked up nukige.

  7. So much is happening this month. My attention has been split between Bloodborne, Dark Souls 2: Scholar of the First Sin, and Axiom Verge. Bloodborne is bloodborne. DS2 is DS2. Axiom Verge is ok, gameplay is like metroid(which is what it's entire advertising campaign was centered around). I don't like how he designed bossfights. Regular enemies require quick dodging and attacking, while bosses barely hurt you but have huge amounts of health and spam the same series of attacks over and over. The bosses are designed to take forever, and slowly wear down your health, rather than have have a reasonable amount of health and doing an unforgiving amount of damage.
  8. There are no quests involved with it, it's an optional free-explore dungeon that gives high amounts of exp/treasure but labels you as a deadbeat
  9. Cross channel was the first to come to mind from your title of "VN for beginners with a twist". "Hardcore" brings Song of Saya to mind. If you're just looking for dark-themed nukige, look at just about any nukige that isn't blatant moege. Some major suggestions would be Bible Black, GIBO: stepmother sin, or Conquering the Queen, all of which are pretty old.
  10. If you're a completionist, you should know that New Game + has several quests that are designed for you to have either used the deadbeat dungeon or have played through the game several times (clearing all routes) while carrying over your level each time, so basically the game is designed for you not to be able to see everything in one playthrough. Don't get too hung up on missing some minor quest your first playthrough, because if you're going for full completion you'll be replaying that portion enough times to get it right next time.
  11. You should play Ni No Kuni if you have any love for Studio Ghibli, otherwise it's incredibly slow pacing might be a bit painful for most. Haven't played Fairy Fencer F, but if it comes out of PC I'll give it a shot.
  12. Those games go on sale all the time, bought GOW 1 a couple months back for same price. If I want a grindfest I'd play Disgaea over Agarest any day.

Its still a great game, just going to have to do a challenge run to get the level of difficulty I was hoping for from the start. Maybe NG+ will be better. Another annoying note is the randomly generated dungeons. Nice idea, would have been epic in dark souls where there is actually things to loot, but otherwise it is just a grindfest of you running through repeating dungeon assets looking for the lever or chests with nothing in them but items you have to find to generate another dungeon. Just an annoyance between bossfights, and only one of the dungeon bossfights I've played have even killed me, and that was an instakill attack I wasn't expecting. Maybe you get some epic lovecraftian bossfights if you farm up enough to generate the really deep versions, but I won't be bothering with that for my first few playthroughs.

lel bloodborne, it's literally all I've done the past few days apart for work. The overall story might be better than Dark Souls(It's fucking lovecraftian!), but lore behind the major characters/bosses is kinda dull compared to DS. Gameplay wise... It is pretty much lesser to Dark Souls in every way I would say. It seems like they were going to implement things that would make the game more difficult and a new experience, but then threw it all out and left us with features that only make the game easier. Healing items aren't refreshed at bonfires and instead have to be bought in your "home" area, and you can stockpile up to 119 of them. This leads to players who are doing well having infinite healing the entire game, and players who are stuck on a boss having to go farm up souls and buy heals before they can even challenge the boss again. Because of how many heals you have, the "regain health by attacking after you've been attacked" is completely meaningless, and turtling is even more effective than it was in Dark Souls. Also there is barely any variety in equipment. I get that transforming weapons requires more work than normal ones, but that doesn't justify the tiny list of weapons you have to choose from in comparison to Dark Souls. PVP is gonna be dull. There is some variety in armor that you can choose from, but still nowhere near as much as Dark Souls.
  15. The Pokemanz or Dragon Ball Z
  16. Rockin' the solo option 3 club. I wouldn't say I hate voice acting, but I generally mute VNs anyways for multitasking purposes.

Just got back from buying it. I remember gamestop being pretty ridiculous back in the day, but the used/refurbished versions of the PS4 being 20 dollars less than the new which comes with a game is just bullshit. Haven't shopped there in years and don't intend to again, I'll buy consoles from walmart or some shit if this comes up again. I ended up getting the new version, so scratch the possibility of returning it Came with Last of Us Revamp, and bought Ground Zeros and Metro Redux, games I could have just played on PC but at least I'll have some reason to use the console when I'm not playing Bloodborne.

Kojima and Konami are parting ways, and since Kojima/Del Torro were behind PT, which drew all the hype for Silent Hills, it probably won't be too great, unless they contract Kojima for Silent Hills like they are for MGS Phantom Pain, which they haven't said anything about.

Great games I'll eventually play, but not games I buy a console for. I'd only return it if Bloodborne ends up making me regret the purchase. In the case that I do return it, I'd probably buy one years down the road when there are enough exclusives (and they are fairly priced) to warrant it. This is a game from one of the two developers that would hype me on that level. I've got the cash to safely do it, but am not usually so wasteful with my money. This is the sort of game that would only be a memorable experience playing yourself, and I know I wouldn't enjoy watching some silly streamer run it. Fucking Japan refusing to accept PC gaming.
  21. Just to play one fucking game
