  1. Rutracker's VN section has pretty much every translated VN, including Da Capo, http://rutracker.org/forum/viewtopic.php?t=1404987 http://rutracker.org/forum/viewtopic.php?t=3338929 http://rutracker.org/forum/viewtopic.php?t=321368 http://rutracker.org/forum/viewtopic.php?t=3334711
  2. Its not "5% project", its 5% of Eris route, 100% of Fione and common route. There are posts from project staff on Ixrec's blog, I believe.
  3. True end is separate thing, you access it from main menu and it doesn't follow any of heroine routes. Well, Yumina is closest to it, except romance. Walkthrough is here: http://omoteura2.com/yumina/
  4. Umm, no, last update was this summer IIRC, its just they don't update site. Team is active, ask SlashZero (team translator) for details, he posts here on fuwa from time to time.
  5. Just finished Suzukuri Dragon. Why, why japanese authors like to make their protags complete hetare shit?
  6. Way to miss my point entirely. I specifically pointed out that porn is not needed, like its done in Ever17. What I need from mah romance in anime is moving to actual "we are couple" stage instead that awkward-hand-holding shit they put in pretty much every title. Yeah, sure there are very few titles that hint about characters having sex offscreen, but it doesn't help that they are still NOT acting like couple on-screen.
  7. Even though I skip most of h-scenes (except in nukige) recently, I still prefer VNs with them. They serve two important goals: 1) Bringing relations with heroine(s) to, uh, actual "relations" stage. 2) Showing that writer is generally comfortable with more intimate and ecchi things overall. I totally hate "romance" in anime exactly because they never dare to go beyond awkward hands holding, no matter how long is title and how many time protag spent with heroine. Ever17 was done pretty well in this aspect — there's no hentai and game is all-ages, but there was sex-scene and whole child-birthing afterwards. Such approach is fine with me as well.
  8. Btw, looked up some statistics, http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Rape_statistics#Sexual_violence_against_children_and_rape_statistics Apparently rape rate in USA is 27 times higher than in Japan, and Japan rates are one of lowest in whole world. Australia, which outlawed drawn pornography, has even higher rates than USA. I'm quite sure overall violent crimes rates are similar, and so are child rape specifically.
  9. You know that pornography (any, not limited to lolicon) is outlawed by Shariat, right? Compare child assault rates in Japan and any sharia country, and it will be obvious that there is no positive correlation availability of extreme porn and rape.

  11. Well, its not like they have many options there. They got only KiraKira, DaCapo and Go Go Nippon all-ages besides Higurashi, and its hard to tell which would be more successful, there's well-known anime behind Higurashi so it could do better than rest.
  12. Kirara route is good (well, about 7.5/10 good, not 10/10), Ai okay, Yumina and True End from silly to absolutely ridiculous and very shounenish, and Tilscield story is just teaser w/out any good conclusion. I like space operas and total wars against extraterrestrials, so I don't regret completing Yumina, but I'm glad I've used artmoney and didn't bother with grinding. You cannot, first of all if you do debate battles, you will miss lots of scenes, unique skills and will not be able to get h-scenes in 2nd, 3rd and 4th chapters. Second, you have to get level 100 by the end of game (on SH) or you will not be able to beat bosses. Tilscied's final boss was quite tough even for maxed out chars. Third, you HAVE to complete Tilscied story in order to get True End.
  13. I've made similar assumptions, esp. about h-scenes, and past two months was testing some statistical linguistics methods on my VN text corpus, but turned out its not true. Even simple 2-gram/3-gram frequency dictionaries show that simple, repeated sentences make up less than 5% of given VN. Overall its just not worth the effort to try augmenting manual translation with machine beyond usual dictionary integration. But anyway, this is already out of scope of initial subject — whether someone who doesn't know japanese at all could produce passable translation by only editing MTL results, and answer is obviously no.
  14. Asmodean has several tools for Kaguya, http://asmodean.reverse.net/pages/exl5enj.html http://asmodean.reverse.net/pages/exl4osa.html http://asmodean.reverse.net/pages/exl6ren.html
  15. Google one is quite close in most of sentences, so you can compare yourself.
  16. True, although English is very forgiving language, unlike Russian, for example. Russian translations are plagued by people who know Japanese, but cannot write Russian prose properly and ruin text entirely. ATLAS: Google Translate: But generally MTL is better with narration than dialogues, so its better to test on dialogues.
  17. Please note I've said "valid English", not "random pile of words that resemble English a bit if you don't try to read it". Yeah, you can get pile of words in no time, but you will spend MORE time trying to assemble something remotely sensible out of that junk than just doing literal word-by-word translation. Even with my crappy jp skills (around N3) it is true, and much more true for professional translators. I've seen some of them working in real time, they blaze through text faster than I could even read it alone. Also, wikipedia and VN are completely different things, no idea why would you use it as example.
  18. You need to finish all routes on all difficulty levels, getting Odakuru completed at the same time. If all conditions are done, you will get "Conclusion" option in main menu, which is true end.
  19. I believe its tied to main plot progression (chapters). Dropped skills are bound to dungeon level, so you will not get higher than shop skills there.
  20. Btw, I see this misconception mentioned often in various places, esp. on /jp/, and cannot really understand where does it come from. MTL isn't anywhere as fast as manual word by word translation, nor as accurate. You cannot have decent performance with MTL if you want to output at least legitimate English.
  21. Well, you can try doing it and see yourself how horrible result is. But yeah, answer is quite simple — don't try translating unless you already can read perfectly w/out any assistance. Translating is much more harder than reading, and requires high skills in both Japanese and English. Also, community will totally hate you if you try this publicly, and we will get another "Cudder-Aaeru vs rest of the world" incident.
  22. Its continous skill, use Ai's Null Silencer of appropriate level to break it.
  23. 3 playthroughs (Normal:Kirara; Hard:Ai; Super-Hard:Yumina) + "true end" + journal + half of playthough (using SH clear data on normal) to get 3 missing scenes I've mentioned above. Total around 60 hours if game internal clock is correct.
  24. Hotaru and senpai from dorm have routes in fandisk. Yeah, last h-scene from Ageha is quite good.
  25. Except for 3 missing scenes that I have no idea how to get, completed game. Char routes were overall solid and interesting to read, although too fluffy and happyendish for space opera. Odakuru was ruined by endless grinding. Reaching final boss took too much time for such mediocre and anticlimactic ending. Epilogue (true end that you get after complete all routes and odakuru) was beyond ridiculous. Whatever good bits story had during char routes were thoroughly trumped here. Academy part of it wasn't nowhere as good as I hoped it would be too. Overall its not bad, but my eyes still hurt from all these animations I had to endure. These guys should learn from Eushully on making VNs with enjoyable gameplay. Also, release has TONS of quite apparent bugs. I wonder whether JAST did any QC at all. http://rghost.net/private/48567223/7f03b543aac2d59758ff18b37ac5b3c6.view http://rghost.net/private/48567237/da94de7d799d3b953d22e803bfc6c7c9.view http://rghost.net/private/48567250/bdc272492eb332264183cb377f0e3bab.view http://rghost.net/private/48567265/a34e2ec2839d67a0694c2c60d50f1c1e.view
