  1. Going to take N2 this time. Passed N3 at 140/180 w/out any textbooks whatsoever, just reading plenty of eroge and doing anki reps.
  2. Meikyuu Yuuji route and Rakuen main route is same, continuous and linear story, and Meikyuu ends with really awful cliffhanger. Its more like teaser for Rakuen.
  3. Gahkthun is neither short nor easy to translate, plus TL doesn't just upload translation and go do something else — he's gonna get involved in editing and reviewing QC reports too. As for Meikyuu, keep in mind that most likely its going to be licensed officially, and they want all-ages version which is not even released in Japan yet. Its quite possible that everything is delayed to 2016 even if he finishes translation earlier. And, you definitely going to regret playing Meikyuu while Rakuen is not released yet.
  4. You don't really need to have any kind of special programming skills — very basic knowledge of C is sufficient. What you need is knowledge of assembler, debugging and reverse-engineering software like IDA Pro, and sufficient knowledge about data storage/compression/encryption. Also, you will need some knowledge on interpreters and bytecode, since plenty of engines use their own bytecode for scripts instead raw sources.
  5. I'm using these guys http://www.japanshoppingservice.jp/onlinestore/ personally. You just provide them links to amazon/getchu/whatever page and they do everything else themselves.
  6. No, its a bit more complicated than that.Koestl is part of Sekai in this matter, and he can't just go back to fantl'ing it, since there's contractual obligations between them and frontwing. So whether they get Meikyuu and Rakuen, and in what form they get them, ultimately depends on frontwing. But if Kajitsu does well, there's no reason for them to decline, so I'd guess probability for at least Meikyuu is pretty high [altho people will regret reading it before Rakuen tl is released. That cliffhanger is a bitch].
  7. Same here. I've kept reading up to Yamato route of Remi 2 hoping that it eventually gets better, but it didn't, so if you didn't enjoy Food Plant, Stalker and Auction cases, I advice to drop it.
  8. Not really. There's Kaito x Ren side story in both Remi and Remi 2, which was quite good compared to main story, but Hidetaka routes are all awful. Aki and Accela were both utterly retarded. Kizuna could be good if Hidetaka wouldn't be Hidetaka and if it would have some kind of conclusion and ending.
  9. Why buy something bad for "lulz" if you could use these 10$ to support someone doing GOOD games?
  10. According to VNDB, this is OELVN rather than translation. Did they hire random 14 y.o. weeaboo to write scenario?I'm really disappointed, since I love works of this artist.
  11. Regarding FanTL rights, I don't think I ever saw any kind of license on TLWiki or statement that could work as license, so no, technically they neither did "give" it to anyone, nor allowed to use it or keep it or redistribute it. Copyright requires explicit statements about any kind of transfer of rights. This research doesn't apply to undeveloped small-scale markets like translated VNs. Moreover music itself is entirely different business, with entirely different model of money flow.Piracy is doing very severe damage to VN sales, as known on example of MG releases. Once game is uploaded you-know-where, sales plunge to 0. If its not uploaded for several days, all that time sales keep high. So yes, people will buy VNs if no other options are available, and will pirate if pirating is possible, because of how this particular market is structured.
  12. Whats the secret code in Semiramis no Tenbin everyone is talking about? What does it do?
  13. You have no fucking idea what are you talking about."Eroge" is game with 18+ content. Its as simple as that. No japanese source ever claimed that eroge has "story or/and gameplay are still more important", nor that eroge has to have any kind of story at all. 3D rape simulators by Illusion are staple of eroge, yet there's no "story" or "gameplay" at all in most of them. There's even friggin huge wiki article which explains this in detail, please don't go around making up shit.
  14. But you don't need to spend money to watch anime legally. CR is legal and free.
  15. If anything, its definitely looking better than current one. But either way, I have no problems picking 3-5 titles to watch, and there's more than 5 candidates for summer.
  16. No, no, it has to be consensual, so http://vndb.org/v12677
  17. At least for us Russian natives its MUCH easier to do RU<->EN than RU<->JP or EN<->JP, by several orders of magnitude. And there are much more Ru natives than Jp natives in community, so it could work, if only that JP->RU translation would be good. While its not machine-tl grade stuff, it doesn't look like good tl either to me, but I didn't read much of it.
  18. I work as full-time software engineer, developing stuff in Python and C++. And I have experience in writing own Python-based games using OpenGL. So I'm quite sure I have deep enough "understanding of meaning". Only reason for C++ is "legacy code" (esp. in form of commercially-available "all included" engines). But there's plenty of high-quality libraries for Python, so that's not a problem. As for "advanced programming platforms like .net" used by "most devs", you have no idea what are you talking about. .NET itself is just VM and libraries, and there's nothing "advanced" about it. As VM/JIT stuff goes, even good old JVM is more "advanced", not to mention llvm. Only benefit it has is that its easier to integrate with other M$ products, so if you aim for, say, WinPhone or XBox, it would be wise to use it. Do you even understand how "graphics manipulation" works? Graphics are not CPU-bound, all that stuff is offloaded to GPU (unless its coded by retard, obviously). For whatever number crunching you would need to do raw, there's numpy and other specialized libraries which work as fast as native c code.Just go check out PyOgre/Ogre3D samples yourself, there's plenty of high-polygon demos with all cool 3d techs you'd expect from modern game. Python is general-purpose programming language, intended to be used in pretty much all fields of software engineering. Whatever fields not covered by CPython, are usually covered by more task-specific implementations. I have feeling that there's no particular meaning behind word "calculations" when you use it. Please provide specific examples of "calculations" game would need which Python allegedly cannot handle, and I'll explain how exactly they are done. Well, original post is about porting games to RenPy, so I believe this discussion is within subject.
  19. Yeah, but one of ingredients for 約束の神剣 is there. 深紅の星石 EXダンジョン19F宝箱
  20. No, its not. There are thousands of games made with python and if author is not ex-php retard, there are no performance problems. "using external programming language to power DB" doesn't even make any sense. Their entire backend is in Python, and backend is much more than "DB", and requires really a lot of computational power. Well, probably should also point out that DBMS itself is _most_ computation-heavy element itself, but DBMS in pure python are rare and EVE definitely doesn't use any of them. Did you even try reading posts above? I've specifically mentioned RenPy game "Demon Master Chris" which uses 3D, and its mostly gameplay only, with less than 3k lines of text. There are shitton of fast, easy and efficient gaming 3D libs for python. Moreover, 3D calculations aren't even done by client program — that's what video cards are for. Client program just sends commands according to DX3D/OPGL protocols.
  21. You can craft 真実の神剣 (recipe is 約束の神剣 + 万能の水晶×3 + 飛躍の白星石×2 + 神霊の錬液) in first playthrough after 2.0 extra stories if you beat final EX dungeon (that retardedly hard orbital station with 500 level mobs, forced encounters, no feathers, no wing of return, no portals), which is best Celica sword and one needed for his ultimate title.
  22. Well, its more like Marsterria and his two buddies than whole light camp.イーリュン is cool goddess, for example, even tho her followers are a bit freakish (in kinda good way). Memoria and esp its NG+ story goes even more deep explaining how fucked up Marsterria is.
  23. There's amusing "bug", if you install all appends and clear them first (to get extra units), game will think its second play-through when you start actual story and will let you access bonus dungeon, eushully maids, maid cards, and craft M-rank weapons. A lot of M-grade stuff requires unique ingredients coming from end-game (after the point of no return), but at least you can get best Celica's sword and best sword for Haisherra. Plus stuff for minor characters.
  24. None of that novellization stories have voices or full CGs. Basically, its released for FREE for those who don't want to buy Zero/GnK1/GnK2, and it doesn't make much sense to those who pirate games. Didn't compare Zero with it text-wise tho.
