S1 had a few very good episodes (including the ONA episodes), but this one is starting a bit bad. 3rd episode was better, I liked the flashback. I think the issue is first two episodes of this season, felt like it had rolled back some story and we're back to the end point of season 1. Season 2 is looking good from episode 3. It definitely felt a step below season 1, mostly because it was a "rehash" that was trying to re-establish the setting.
