  1. Considering that the VN everyone is saying has the same twist has been described as a shittier knockoff version of Totono, I'd encourage anyone who likes the idea to still give this one a shot. Take my words with a grain of salt though; I haven't played it. Personally, I found ~the twist~ of ~that other game~ to be disappointingly executed, and considering that denpa is my favorite genre, I'm pretty hype for Totono.
  2. I was thinking, then I realized... I have never dropped a single VN. No matter how much I disliked it. I'm a completionist, so even if I feel that reading something was a waste of time, it's still better than leaving it unfinished imo.
  3. Been waiting forever for SayoOshi patch to get released... We need more denpa. Hatsuyuki Sakura hasn't been mentioned (I believe), that would be a treat.
  4. Finished MYTH last month. Definitely improved on the third chapter, I actually enjoyed myself most of the time. Overall, the game was really interesting in terms of the themes it dealt with. However, I personally didn't enjoy the writing style, it was simply too confusing and dense at times. I would have enjoyed the story more if it were written in a more traditional fashion, revealing information and plot twists to unravel the plot gradually, as opposed to leaving the reader mostly in the dark until the end. 7/10 - interesting concept for sure but just not really what I was looking for in terms of entertainment.
  5. I wasn't able to vote in time so I can't really complain. The only games that appeal to me from the results are Sakura no Uta, Soukou Akki Muramasa, and perhaps TRianThology. Kiss for the Petals series is okay. I don't play any otome or gameplay games so nothing much here for me to get excited about.
  6. I seek out games that I know suit my tastes, along with observing ratings. I've noticed that I typically rate games one score under the most commonly given score on VNDB (so if the most commonly given score for a game is an 8, I would most likely rate it a 7). Because I don't really want to waste my time on games that are just okay, I normally only play games that are most commonly rated an 8 or above on VNDB, and that have elements that I enjoy (dark themes and psychological elements, strong characters, no gameplay). I try to make my way through the "classics" that are rated the highest on VNDB, while also seeking out well-rated short games as palate cleansers (and for when I have less time available).
  7. Sad and/or bittersweet. By far. Didn't realize this until I finished the first two endings for
  8. Muv-Luv Alternative and Grisaia no Kajitsu. I started MLA right after finishing Unllimited and was really into it at first (played for 7 hours straight) but I've honestly been struggling to get back into the mood since. I know it's going to be great though. Same goes for Grisaia, I'm not a slice of life fan but the comedy is right up my alley. Not really making any progress because I'm not in a great place mentally and I want to make sure I actually enjoy both of them. I'm going to be away from my PC next week because I'm going back home for my break from Uni, going to try and finish MYTH during that time because it's the only VN I have on my Macbook. I have really mixed feelings about it, and I've heard bad things about the ending, but hopefully it'll be an enjoyable experience.
  9. Hey Fuwanovel forums! I was active on here years ago, and am back now after getting back into eroge after the release of Subahibi. [deleted]
  10. Saya no Uta, a remake with an extended storyline, more BGM, and newer quality CGs.
  11. PC, definitely. However, I do appreciate having a decent amount of VNs to chose from on smartphones and tablets, because I frequently travel on planes.
  12. I understand where companies are coming from with this, but I'd feel more justified in spending my money on a game with all plot and no filler, than a game watered down with filler, no matter how long it was. Too much filler can definitely affect my enjoyment of VNs, even ones that are flawless in all other aspects. For example, Saya no Uta, Kikokugai -The Cyber Slayer-, and Dra+KoI are all relatively short games, but they all left a lasting impact on me despite that, because the content that they did have was (in my opinion) amazing.
  13. I used to play and complete a new game every weekend. Now I play visual novels around once or twice every week or so for about an hour. This is mostly because of how tedious Muv-luv Extra is, I have a feeling I'll be adding a lot more play time to my schedule once I get to Alternative, if it really is as good as the members on here claim.
  14. To be brutally honest, Kenji was the only Katawa Shoujo character I actually found to be interesting.
  15. Personally, I really loved G-Senjou no Maou's layout, I wish there were more VNs like that. My pet peeves would be: -Games that have an interesting premise but turn out to be just nukige in disguise (I'm looking at you, Yandere). -Games that are boring and tedious but have sequels that are amazing so you have to play them (I'm pretty sure everyone on here should be able to tell what game I'm talking about here). -Sex scenes. Yes, I know that they're a big part of VNs, but I hate them (I do have some exceptions though, for example Saya no Uta did a great job of integrating its H-content into the story). -Moeblob and cookie cutter characters. -Games with slice-of-life scenes that are boring and plentiful (cough*Key*cough). -Info dumps. -Boring BGMs. BGMs are actually a huge part of VNs for me, I often listen to my favorite BGM songs after playing VNs, and beautiful BGM music has actually made me cry during parts of VNs I wouldn't normally have cried at. I think music is a great way to strengthen emotion in visual novels. And of course, my biggest pet peeve of all:
  16. I'm pretty sure the only JAST release I've played was Saya no Uta; I like Mangagamer's lineup a lot more. Sure, Mangagamer puts out a ton of moege/nukige, but when they decide to put out more deep/serious titles, they chose amazing ones to translate.
  17. Personally, I HATE the format Key games have the thirty choices per route thing. I definitely prefer formats such as G-senjou no Maou's (around three choices per route) and Saya no Uta's (two choices period, all leading to different ends).
  18. Cartagra, Kara no Shoujo 2, and Euphoria. A lot of great non-moe VNs to look forward to.
  19. I checked out Seiken and it looks pretty interesting. Does it have any gameplay elements though? I don't really like gameplay in VNs. I've heard great things about that one, but I forgot about it until now. I really don't like lightheartedness, but if the story is really good I don't mind.
  20. Hello Fuwanovelers! I haven't really been able to get into any VNs recently, so I've decided to see if anyone here knows of any games I would like. My requirements are: 1. It must not be a moege. 2. It must not focus on friendship or romance as a main theme, but it should have some romance. 3. It must have focus on mystery, or have a story that makes you think. For example, here are my four favorite VNs, all of which meet these standards: Saya no Uta, Kara no Shoujo, G-senjou no Maou, Kikokugai -The Cyber Slayer-.
  21. I COMPLETELY disagree with you. How is mature romance boring? What's boring is all the terrible moe-moe-harem-romance-comedy VNs that all have the same story, as if they weren't boring enough. The reason that I'm not interested in anime anymore (and that I'm losing interest in VNs) is because most of the romance stories are childish and ridiculous, and I can't see any of the characters going forward with their relationships when they grow up. Seriously, I go into a VN with an imouto route expecting a story about how your character falls in love with his little sister when the whole world is against such a thing, and instead I get "I hope Onii-chan sees me as a woman today! I know, maybe he'll fall in love with me if I repeat the word "Onii-chan" over and over again in an annoying high-pitched voice!" And yes, mature romance is a very real thing, in real life and fiction. As for the recommendations, I disagree with Sloxz on the Da Capo series. DC1 isn't really all that mature, and while DC2 comes a whole lot closer with some routes, I still don't think it's what you're looking for. You may be interested in Anzu's route in DC2 though, I think it's the closest you'll get to mature romance in DC, and it has a great story. I also highly recommend Kara no Shoujo and Saya no Uta. Both have more disturbing stories, but the romance is amazing (especially in Saya no Uta), and if you're a fan of more mature stories, I think you'll be able to get into the non-romantic aspects of the stories as well. Clannad has some mature romance, especially in the after story. However, you need to get through all of the routes to get to the after story, and the majority of the VN is slice-of-life scenes, which are really difficult to get through if you're not a fan of slice-of-life like me. I recommend watching the anime if you don't want to spend 30 hours clicking through school life scenes.
  22. Kanon's route in G-senjou no Maou, when Kanon Also, the epilogue of G-senjou no Maou. It was so depressing how terrible and anti-climactic it was, it almost ruined the game for me.
  23. It's decent. I hate Honoka, but Shizuku and Kohaku are likable. Shizuku's route has been really awkward so far, I definitely hope that it improves soon. It seems like 90% of the common route is talking about sex, and while I'd normally label the game bad because of that, I actually find the comedy to be decent, better than Key's by far. 6.5-7/10 so far.
  24. Yes! I know it's weird, but I think people that lack confidence are cute. Your turn~
  25. No, it was 3. New 3: 1. I don't watch anime. 2. I am a high school student. 3. I am attracted to people with confidence.
