  1. It's not really surprising, though. Looseboy's written both (all three of, counting the FD) of the ones that've been translated..... It's more affection for the author than the company. It's also why they're similar.
  2. No, no, lol. I talked about it like a book and said each chapter was named after a Hemingway novel, named the chapters, so what would the last chapter be called? Type of thing.
  3. I'd like to join, but I'll probably skip the first month... Too much happening in November that I'm already committed to. It's a very cool concept, and it should be good because I always annoy my friends by talking about vns they aren't even reading lol. Besides, I finish vns way too slow, so that should help my pace... Looking forward to the second vn!
  4. I recently finished Comyu. Akihito... was pretentious and could not think anything but the same phrases over and over. 'I remember the red colour" is actually fair enough, he's been through a lot, but does he really have the exact same thoughts about the nature of human connection with every sex scene...? Every single girl makes him feel exactly the same...? That's kinda sad. The sex scenes appear to exist in an alternate dimension, and the fact that in Kagome's route ...I wanted more Gasai... I actually felt like the Benio route end fit her character. I didn't mind it too much... It fuelled the Gasai x Akihito. Good ship. They can both be pretentious idiots together. :') But I have to say, despite constantly saying Akihito is only nice to women, I didn't get it...? The guys that he meets are 1. hostile towards him 2. joking with him or 3. not in trouble. I didn't see him get a chance to be nice to a guy that treated him even neutrally without a woman nearby so they could fall back on that trait...? (As a girl, I can only hope that there are men around my age that don't act like Akihito when in a relationship...). Best girl was Kagome. That final fight...! I was really fascinated with the Hemingway references in the route titles? Like, I recognized A Farewell to Arms, but had to look up almost everything... It was interesting how they all seemed to fit. It's a cool theme to pattern it off of, to the point where my dad and I actually had a bet as to what Kagome's route would be named... For nothing but pride, of course. If you haven't looked up Hemingway and seen how they connect and you're kinda interested, you should definitely check it out. It's a good night's read and really renewed my interest in Comyu when it was waning.
  5. Ahh good I've been waiting for this. I thought it'd never happen...! I got Overclocked about a year ago... So now's a good time to finish a path, I guess (I keep... stopping... before one of the final bosses...)! I'm looking forward to it...! With this and Persona 5, Atlus are probably pretty busy right now...
  6. Personally I've consumed Detective Conan in some form at least 4 times, and I loved Hyouka, too (I've also read Shinrei Tantei Yakumo which had some... yeah... moments). By the time you get through enough of Detective Conan, you're kinda attached to the characters, the couples and the plot and if you've got time on your hands, it's not a bad read. Reading that made some other detective mysteries predictable, though, which is sad.... . Gosick's mysteries were a flop for me 'cause of the info I gained from Conan...(part of the reason I loved Hyouka) It's more comforting to read about sympathetic murderers than someone outta Criminal Minds and it can kinda tell two messages for the price of one, which might be good considering Detective Conan is family programming. "Murderers don't get away no matter the circumstances" (through the detectives catching them) but "don't be an absolute jerk or you just don't know". Well, that's a rather rough, uneducated opinion anyway.
  7. I'm looking for a 'good' game instead of a 'great' game, anyway, but especially a cute game (I seriously missed romance-centric games reading through a lot of Comyu...). I actually... haven't played the first one. I get that there are connections there, but it didn't seem worth the reported quality... True. I'm never certain what's on the common route, but it still feels like I could split between three routes still, so I call it the Common Route. I'll play through the puppet play routes except for Otome's and then move on to the Haunted House ones, probably (I picked puppet play randomly). I've already had to reload for wakeup time.... I'm apparently not good at random choices like that, who knew? But it sounds really good for replayability, so I'm looking forward to that!
  8. Felt like a moege after Comyu, bought Da Capo II for Moe Day. It really does fulfill its purpose: the girls are cute. The humour isn't too bad either? And the option to have a system voice is much appreciated. Suginami makes everything over the top and I love it. Still on the common route, though. The number of choices and different types of choices is kinda amazing... to me, anyway (choices, location movements, choosing the time the character wakes up?)!
  9. The translation to otome game Princess Nightmare was completed today by OGE, the same group that did Starry Sky ~in Spring~ apparently. I can't find their site, so have a post from the tumblr I found this out from which includes a link to the patch (and the summary I also pasted below... but anyway): http://www.englishotomegames.net/post/100333875886/princess-nightmare-release General Princess Nightmare info: http://vndb.org/v645 ""Little is a vampire girl. Radou treats her like his little sister and Vlad is like her father, though they are not blood-related. One day, their hiding place is found by vampire hunters and they are forced to leave town. Eventually they arrive in Japan, where they sleep at an old house during the day and live as vampires at night. Little meets a human boy and longs for a normal life. Radou doesn’t want her to, but Vlad allows her to start going to school. She makes friends and starts to enjoy her school life. Until one day, a messenger arrives at their residence and tells them it’s time to go back to the demon world…” It's always good to get more otome games translated! Doesn't have too bad of a rating on vndb, too, so colour me intrigued!

    Heya

Oh man, my expectations were already so high... Muv Luv will be taking a lot more of my free time in anticipation of that. Ahhhh Alternative and giant robots, wait for me~
  11. My own personal preferences, mainly. Basically I think "given this incredibly simplistic take on the situation, what would I like to choose" (like, if I were in a situation were someone would die at ay minute, would I trust this person" or "do I feel like just going home right now or going somewhere random")? I don't typically take the main character's feelings into account. Thus, bad ends. I make some really unintelligent decisions. I can't think of stellar examples right now, because a lot of games have obvious route choices, and the last few I've played have been obvious or linear, so sorry if that's unclear. School Days does that? Hm... it's becoming a more attractive prospect by the minute! Thanks Scars Unseen! Hadn't really considered it before (other than the anime for the shock factor and Cross Days for fujoshi-related reasons)...
  12. Ah, thanks for this~ I didn't know it finished~ It was pretty good when I read it, but it's been a year... I might have to read it again just to feel emotion at the finale... Finished Yowamushi Pedal. Was really good. It was really sports manga-y, too. I kept thinking of Eyeshield21 while I read it at one point, especially with one specific part of their training. But that made it addictive. Doesn't feel like they did too too much in 78 chapters, though, with the big Inter-high only starting now. So I'm re-reading Ookiku Furikabutte/BIg Windup! because it's excellent and I feel like sports manga again (it's one of my favourite shounen sports manga~)! Then maybe like Baby Steps or something. Or I'll switch to battle manga~

    Heya

Thanks, everyone! I'm sure I'll enjoy it here, especially with such nice people commenting on my welcome topic~ Yup, on the other hand it can only go uphill from here, so I just need to suck it up, I guess. I'll be playing the bare minimum, though. I grew out of harem romcoms a long time ago. So while I understand the humour probably wasn't too bad when it was written, it doesn't help... On the other hand, I'm such a sucker for giant robots and I have no idea why. So I'm looking forward to the genre shift~
  14. I never get the cool personae. I was really just proud of myself for getting Helel last round... The more-than-three-personae-fusions never seem to come together for me without a guide... And my favourite method is guess-and-check fusions that drain my wallet~ Oh man, I haven't seen that! Being the male MC is hard, isn't it? At least the FeMC only has a max of two people fallling for her at once (three if you count Theo, I guess). Although it boils down to not being a jerk and double-booking, I guess. I also found Fuuka's part especially sad. It sounded like she was really looking forward to bento making. ;.;
  15. I'm playing Devil Survivor: Overclocked. I'm on the third day, aiming for either Atsuro or Naoya's ending and hoping I can actually finish one and not chicken out at the last boss again~ I'm looking forward to Devil Survivor 2's 3DS counterpart, because it sounds like the characters won't make me want to kill them as much and I didn't get a chance to try the original. Also playing Mario and Luigi: Dream Team. It was the year of the Luigi, after all. Finally, playing a male playthrough in P3P. I'll finally finish Mitsuru's social link (and romance her), mark my words! But for a large amount of the time, I'll just sulk about the lack of Akihiko, Shinjiro or Ryoji social links.
  16. Playing Muv Luv. I'm on Extra, on my first route: Meiya's. Well, I actually think I'm still on the common route...? This game has a lot of cliches, but if I take into account when it was written, it might not be that bad...? Parts of the system are cool, too. I'm having fun commenting on my save files and I enjoy that every character has a different colour. There's no real one-right-click menu in full-screen, and space bar hides the text bar instead of advancing, but it's pretty cool otherwise~ Waiting for it to get epic in Unlimited -> Alternative, though. Giant robots!~ I'll patiently play the bare minimum until then.
  17. Depending on the definition of dandere, I'm probably one of them. I'm quiet most of the time because I'm shy in social situations. Opposite to the definition I read for clarity, I function a lot worse in groups instead of one-on-one, where people become surprised that I can actually talk sometimes. However, no one completely fits into their type and you can find me quite talkative even in front of large groups of strangers if you catch me on a good topic or day, and especially if it's not on a personal level, but a business social level (like a presentation, or a group project, or even class participation).
  18. I'm not saying I'm a procrastinator or anything, but... right before exams, midterms and essays. That is the peak time for me to suddenly be interested. Basically whenever I don't really have free time, too. I tend to play vns in bursts, where I could be utterly enraptured with it one minute and find all the characters, plot and setting annoy me the next. It normally has very little to do with the material, but with my mood at the moment. Therefore, every single vn has a 'pacing problem' with me and it's nearly inevitable. Typically, I play at night, but that's more a matter of when I get free time than preference.
  19. I'm planning on reading Yowamushi Pedal. I really enjoy battle or sports shounen manga, so a manga where with tons of guys cycling where I can ship them doesn't sound bad~ Shounen-wise, I'm following Detective Conan and Assassination Classroom (it's really good, by the way). Waiting for Bleach, Naruto, One Piece and Kurobasu to finish their arcs so I can read them in one go (especially Bleach and Naruto, which I just want to finish). Shoujo-wise, Taiyou no Ie, Last Game and Horimiya are what I'm mainly following. BL-wise, I read anything that pops up on my radar~
  20. Given the story is just as good otherwise, I enjoy choices where I can genuinely choose between the choices without necessily knowing what girl/guy's route I'm going to get (nothing as obvious as Muv Luv's "Whose bento are we having today?!"). I enjoy seeing where I'd end up just choosing what I would in that situation (normally, a bad end). To that effect, I like it when there are lots of choices. After getting on the route, a few choices that branch to short bad ends are fine. I like if the bad ends reveal something about the character ro setting or plot that the good ends don't, as well (or points that would be revealed farther in on the good route). Other than that, I'm on that character's route for the long haul, so I don't need the expanse of choices I'd like on the common route.
  21. Celty was great in Durarara, so who knows? There could be possibility there.
  22. My first VN was also Fate/Stay Night, because I really liked the anime and heard it got even better. I coincidentally found a youtube stream for the VN, so I read it that way (I've actually read quite a few VNs through youtube). I enjoyed it a lot, so I kept up with Visual Novels, especially because the concept itself was so interesting to me. Although I first learnt of their existence through Shuffle! a year or so earlier, its anime and the comments on the anime videos about a game's existence. But it wasn't in english at that point and I've lost all desire to read it now.

    Heya

Thank you, everyone! Warm welcomes are always appreciated! @Sieghart: I've seen the anime for Little Busters!, and since I have, I have no intentions to touch the game for a while. I mainly play games without adaptions, and LB! is loooooooooooooooooooong. @Flutterz: Yeah, I know. That's why I'm playing Extra wrong. T.T I just really want the robots to show up... However, that's kind of a disservice to Extra, in a way. (I also don't mind moe girls~) @Kaguya: Yes! The art is so pretty! I was less enthused by the mini game and I feel like it would've been 10x better to play it in japanese, but it was a good game in english. @meru: It's always great to see another fujoshi, isn't it?~
  24. I have a few idiosynchrocies about the system fo a VN that impedes the experience, I guess: I can't find out how to auto-read. The space bar doesn't advance the text. I find it especially hard to play games where I don't understand any of the attraction to the MC, especially with games aimed at guys. If I don't understand why he has a harem, it's very hard to follow the adventures of said harem. However, reasons could possibly be as shallow as having an MC with an appealing design Eyeless protags. Come on, guys. Characters that kind of act like flipping a switch: a girl that's really genki or super depressed without gradual development, or someone who's tsun one moment dere the next I'm certain there are more, but just these for now...

    Heya

At this point, it'd be hard to have a unique intro topic, huh...? Hey there! I'm Lambda. I'm a fujoshi that enjoys BL games, otoges and galge alike. I've been into visual novels for a few years now but I play at the pace of a snail so I haven't been through many. Right now I'm playing through Muv Luv Extra in distinctly the wrong way, as I'm really waiting for the giant robots. I hope I can get along with everyone~
