Yeah, that might be good too. However playing her route first also makes sense from her character development's POV. Whatever the case, Michiru is best to be last from the remaining routes. I went (Chisato) - Satsuki - Isara - Mifuyu - Michiru.

I originally went Chisato, Isara Mifuyu,  Satsuki then Michiru. Personally though I like true routes last so in retrospect I would have liked chisato being last. Ya you don't find out about some stuff but I feel like you can get the gist of it without playing her route first.

  2. Its great! Play it! My reccomendation is to get a full save (You are normally forced to do Chisato first) and then do the routes in this order: Isara ---> Mifuyu ---> Satsuki or Michiru ---> Chisato. This is assuming you are like me and you like to do true routes last and also like saving the better routes for later.

This thread is a variation of sorts from Rain Spectre's topic about ending structure.

A trend I noticed about "True Ends" is that many of them can have predictable sappy ends where everything turns out alright, or at least much happier than "Normal Ends" and, of course, "Bad Ends." As with all things in life, there are exceptions, of course, like Heaven's Feel in Fate/Stay Night, but most of them are so "wrapped up" and tied with a tidy little ribbon bow, where every protagonist makes it out alive and move on with their life. Obviously, real life doesn't work like that and sometimes, such a formula can feel trite and unrealistic.

Sometimes, even the "Bad Ends" can be much better written than the "True End" because of this. This might surprise you, but many people actually like tragic endings. If that's not enough to shock you... many people actually like feeling sad, which is why they read sad stories that make them cry. There's a catharsis that comes from crying or even seeing fictional characters go through tragedies that reflect our own. Sometimes, the "Bad End" is just that powerful or impactful enough that the "True End" feels predictable, generic, or just plain lame.

Personally, I don't mind "True Ends" that are written well, but sometimes, I do find myself preferring the more emotional and depressing "Bad Ends," especially when I'm a sucker for tragic stories myself. I don't really like it when everything gets "wrapped up" neatly at the "True End." That just cheapens the value of "Bad Ends" since they are just going to turn out alright in the end anyway, no point crying over some pointless "Bad End."

In particular, Cartagra made me feel something like that.

In spite of a few deaths, Shugo and Kazuna went on with their lives blissfully like a happy couple. Doesn't matter that Shugo's job as a detective would endanger Kazuna's life and possibly affect her acting career; they just have to be together like some generic couple from the many, many romance stories out there.

That's why I preferred the "Normal End," especially where Kazuna's life decisions are concerned.

Anyway, enough about me. What about you? How do you feel about "True Ends" being predictable and schmaltzy mainstream material? Do you like any particular "Normal Ends" more than "True Ends"?

    Spoiler

I liked the normal end as well but for a different reason. I wanted to see an actual ending with Yura. I like em' crazy I guess xD

  4. I am thankful that I decided on a whim to read a visual novel. I never was an anime fan, and I'm still not, but I saw Sodapoppin on twitch playing Princess Evangile (I still have no idea why he was playing it lol) and it looked like a nice little feel good story. So I gave it a shot and liked it. When I looked for another good VN to read after finishing PE, I learned about G-Senjou no Mao. That one cemented my interest in VNs.

I have been considering learning Japanese. There's still plenty of VNs for PC available in English, but if I knew Japanese there would be so many I'd love to grab on Vita or Switch. Plus all the other doors it opens.

I've been doing it for around 5-6 months now and I'm surprised at the progress I have made. There are times where I can go on autopilot when reading and its a really cool feeling.

The twist in Yuka's route got me. Hits close to home because I actually once went out with a girl who tried to use a wristband for that purpose. It said "Never give up hope.".....

You weren't lying about these routes being pretty heavy.

Just read like for like five more minutes and after hearing her past was like "Oh....".

Oh wtf is the rest of her route? Wow I thought gal cleaning(a manga, if you can even call it that) was showing enough of "that" and it somehow is in this story.

    Spoiler

Is her rape from her past or while she's with the mc?

Actually didnt know some of this happens , as I only finished Aeka's route but all you mentioned were the bad ends and what I already know about Mizuki so its whatever.

I also got bad ends at first for Aeka too so I get the random choices thing.

I usually like to do bad ends first and then do the good ends since I like to experience everything but end on a good note, but for this one it isn't worth it in my opinion to get the bad ends. I couldn't bring myself to do it for Aeka's route especially.

  8. Spoiler

I actually found the scene of them choking out that terrible girl to be one of the most romantic moments I have ever read in a VN. That girl was the definition of a socio/psychopath (idk if she was born without empathy or developed it through abuse). When Aeka says she wants to join in and they do it together it legit made me go "awwwwwwwwww". I really wish that that girls boyfriend got killed or something. He needed to be punished severely. I absolutely loved this VN and I am so glad I saved Aeka's route for last. My only problem with this VN was how the most random chpices would lead to bad ends. Oh you didn't pick the right book at the library? Bad end. You chose endure cumming and then end up doing it anyways instead of choosing to do it right away? Your gf dies from an overdose with your child inside her. Kinda fucked tbh lol. I wish the writer for this did more VNs. This was a hidden gem to me and I am so glad I randomly decided to read it out of the sea of VNs I have in my backlog.

Oh and the sprites of the characters facing forward were so funny to me. I see why no one ever does that with their art in VNs. At first I found it annoying. However I soon came to find it endearing in a way. It gave a unique feeling to it that no other VN has.

The music was pretty good as well. "The plot thickens" was actually really awesome. It perfectly summed up Mizuki's route and their crazy relationship.

  9. I've never got a physical copy before because it has never really interested me and it just seems like your are paying more money. However, I saw someone make a post showing their collection and it was actually kinda cool. I get physical copies of WoW expansions so I get the appeal.

Unfortunately the appeal of having them on display is ruined by the fact that I keep it a secret that I play VNs xD

In addition to English releases above, I can recommend Shirahase Yuuna. The game is average (too many h-scenes and early confessions), but her route is quite good.

Also, Lamune and Sorairo is good place for them. I liked the idea of starting point as a kid.

But I think you need to try Aikagi. Simple but cute vn with one heroine as osananajimi.

She is not an osananajimi. Just classmate and acquaintance from last school.

Aikagi looks great! I think I'll read this one first. Thanks!

I see. Well, dark skinned are indeed rare so you can count this as major pros.

Although Sanoba Witch has Meguru, who is funny and cute af, and also a gamer that plays on 3DS. Did I mention she is lonely and need your love? (NSFW wallpaper with her).

I love the lightish dark skin color like that. Shame its rare :(

I just randomly got the desire to read sanoba. I'm not sure why . . . ;)
