Since their parent Company Greenwood shut down last year, we didn't know if there is any chance for the Light catalogue to see a translation. So this is really good news and if you have any interest in these titles or titles like Dies irae or Fate/Stay Night, please consider telling them on twitter to let them know that there is interest! They also ask about ideas of how to make it happen.

Its steadily getting more mainstream, but as is often when a niche medium/genre steadily gains more mainstream attention, it isn't necessarily a good thing if you are an old school fan. I first got into VNs around 2010/2011, they were extremely niche back then. Not as niche as say the early - mid 00s, but thanks to the Visual Novel fan-translation scene that took off around the mid-2000's they were steadily gaining more attention. Likely in part because anime was also becoming more mainstream. And It was the fan-transaltion of Kanon (which I was interested in because of the 2006 Kanon anime) that actually first exposed me to this medium. The correlation between a rise in the amount of fan-translations and rise in VN popularity in the west (even if still very moderate), is likely why Aaeru started Fuwanovel. She was the one who coined the Fuwanovel motto "Making VNs popular in the west", and among her biggest goals was to increase fan-translation output. Ultimately she fought a losing battle, because as VNs were starting to get more attention, companies and localizers started to pay more attention to them as well. So ironically the fan-translators who arguably helped grow this incredibly niche medium, were now getting cease and desist threats because companies wanted to take advantage of this potential market. Infact this very thing happened to Aaeru herself 


Not saying mangagamer or JastUSA are the badguys at all, I respect them a lot for being the OG localizers in the industry. When shit really hit the fan imo, is when Steam became a popular avenue to sell/market VNs. It was in this phase that VN's once again hit a bump in relative popularity, but this new audience by in large has very different taste then what original VN fans care for. Dies Irae and Suba Hibi for example, are two VNs very much beloved by older school VN fans but did pretty poorly when compared to DDLC. DDLC was a perfect market exploit of the new demographic of potential VN purchasers on Steam. Now I know DDLC is a free game, but its massive outburst in popularity proved one thing. It proved that VN's can reach mainstream popularity, but to do so would require betraying old school VN fans (at least in my opinion).

I've always had the same question when playing voiced r18 visual novels, especially BL/Yaoi ones... what is it like for the VA's?
Like what do they think of it? And also the process of recording these lines and etc

About gameplay, well I tried Baldr Force and to tell the truth it's harder compared to Duel Savior. Apparently Sky gameplay here is the improvement of Force, so let's see if I can play it without difficulty later on.
About the rumor in regard of censorship, to be honest the speculation out there is very annoying to me and to make it worse Sekai here rumored to didn't say anything in which it's widely speculated because that GIGA told Sekai to not say anything about it. If GIGA told Sekai to censor Baldr Sky, then what I can say would be that they'll got same principle as Pulltop. That said, I think it might be come with 18+ version though if we look at mature content warning. For the comparison, I'll post several mature content quote from Sekai VNs that have 18+ version along with Baldr Sky.

What I want to suggest here would be that there's a chance that Sekai will release 18+ version here, only that Sekai was probably need to be silence about it. While practically there's no reason for that, it could be possible if we count the rumor that GIGA need to be silent until the release ready. But if the rumor is wrong, perhaps Sekai really like to be controversial in that they'll hide the 18+ contents in Baldr Sky until the last day which to say not the most ideal announcements. As for my purpose to list several mature content warning here, it to show that only three VNs that ask us to treat the character as 18+ or older people and one of those VNs are Baldr Sky. If they really want to censor it, I think they can do it just like usual or remove the 18+ old warning here. So for now I would say that there's a chance for Baldr Sky 18+ version, although the chance for that is still uncertain though.

I've just wasted an hour (which I really shouldn't have done today ) writing a rant on why everyone should support the Frontier kickstarter so please listen to my advice and do it already, so we get that demo retranslation and no one can complain at launch about the inconsistent quality. ;p

No mention of Evenicle (also Alicesoft) yet? I haven't played any games of this type yet but I'm looking forward to trying it out.

So why the patch needs polishing/redrawing. I know that the first released scenes were made in poor quality, really rushed it just to see if it is possible to make a patch. Knowing that it always can be better but these first scenes are really bad quality, just when comparing the new and old you can really tell the difference in quality or improvement in the new versions. I will mostly focusing on the first released and slowly getting to the latest which don't require much attention.
Here is an example of man's genitalia for comparison - mostly on that I will be focusing.

So my main mission would be converting all the V1 genitalia to V3, and as for V2, maybe all or just as much as possible.

As I mentioned before, the new version is faster than ever, Dullahan Load feature allows you to drag&drop your compressed and encrypted "dx***-krkextract.psb" directly to PsbDecompile to get json result, and FreeMote now can pack/unpack known shell types (lz4,mdf,psz) - now FreeMote should be able to replace psbtools totally  Click the link for full release note. You have a LZ4 shell packed, encrypted (key: 123456789) PSB (dx.psb). To unpack it, purify it, edit it, encrypt it, and then pack it (if needed) -
In short - You can process a PSB without EmoteConv, just to set params in resx.json to control compile process (pack or not; encrypt or not etc.). Or you can use EmoteConv to get pure PSB at first for editing convenience.

My bad. My simple brain knows nothing but translation. Technical mumbo jumbo goes over my head. The files were indeed still present in the game. Getting it all out and back in again was a real pain though. We did have Helvetica decensor the images for us since we didn't know the assets were hidden in JAST's release. I have been informed by the tech guys that we did not end up using Helv's work, though. So the files in the patch aren't Helvetica's work but the original decensor from the original artist.
Still, Helvetica helped us out a ton with doing the decensor in the first place, so it only feels right crediting him, though I will change the post so that it correctly reflects what the patch contains. I'll ask the tech guys if we can make a second patch where we use Helv's work, and we will leave a comparison somewhere so people can see which CGs they want.

What does our patch do?
Our patch restores all the cut content from JAST’s release of Trample on Schatten!! We put back in cut voice acting, CGs, text, BGM, cut-ins — the list goes on. JAST only removed one scene, but putting everything back into the game was a real pain in the arse, which is why it took us so long.

There is nothing left to fix. They wrote on fakku forums that they didnt officialy fixed: the bath towels ( which heliosaurus patch fixes to bandaids and my patch fixes to completely nude ), the steam in bath scenes ( which both patches, helios and mine restore it ) and the nipple of hachiroku in the beginning ( that too in both patches fixed ).... But they did fixed the missing cg in common route and the separate routes in the neweset fakku edition ( which was already fixed by heliosaurus in his patch and it is still present, and i just removed that part to reduce the size of patch ).... and if what the say is true there shouldnt be missing any lines of translations, which we as a community couldnt fixed so easily... in short. Everything is fixed. Only have to finish decensoring
