Speaking of Golden, there is one more thing I would like to mention about Persona 5, that being the ending. Persona 5 has only bad ends and a "normal" ending. However, in this "normal" ending, things get absolutely nuts, to the level of the true ending in Golden. You'd think there is no problem then - things escalate nicely and get wrapped up in a satisfying manner, and everyone is happy. Only... it just doesn't feel right. Not just because you'd expect a Persona game after 4 to have a true ending, but because there are a few strangely ambiguous and seemingly meaningful scenes left. Is Atlus trolling everyone, using the existence of Persona 4's complicated true ending to make people play P5 forever? Are they planning to release a true ending DLC? Is this just a cruel bait for the inevitable "Persona 5: Platinum" that will come out a few years later? Or did things change during development and Atlus just conveniently forgot awfully suspicious scenes and choices in the game? Whatever it is, it is driving me and a lot of people who've finished P5 nuts - so if you're waiting for the western release, I sincerely hope this mystery is resolved by the time you get to play the game, so you don't have to experience this maddening confusion.

    Could this be why?

  2. Started playing Kyonyuu Fantasy Gaiden 2 After and while I was skeptical about a continuation from what had been a satisfying conclusion to Lute and co.'s story this is looking to be a worthy sequel so far. While it sucks that we only have a few of the heroines in this (though the story does have a reasonable explanation for their absence...though damn I still miss Gladys :vinty:) the story's building up well especially in Ostashia's situation in being a dictatorship on the verge of self destruction and giving us a legit intimidating villain. Really interested to see in how this plays out and has me hopeful of more installments in Lute and co's story (which will probably focus on the country of Sultan next).

What's the difference between KF 2 and KF 2 If?

Okay, I still need to finish 2 if but I can say it's a remake of the second game and in all likelihood the true route is canon. The reason I say this is back when Gaiden 2 came out it made a reference to something major that happened in another route and not the original KF2's true route. 2 if's true route (what I've played of it so far) pretty much clears that up and as a remake I have to say it's proven to be the superior version in every way with significantly better character writing.

  4. I've only had time to play a little bit (*shakes fist at work schedule) and it's interesting to read it again in a language I fully understand, plus it's nice to see what lines that are mentioned in passing become plot points in later games. On the other hand since I know how things are going to play out I admit I'm a bit impatient to get the common route done so I can get to the more interesting stuff.

  5. Finally finished Kara no Shojo 2...overall I liked it, but not as much as the first game. I'll go into more detail once I give it a review (sorry I haven't been doing those much this year but that happens when you have to move twice for work), but I can say one problem I have is the ending:

    Spoiler

It kind of had a more sequel bait-ish feel to it than the first game. Now don't get the wrong idea, I acknowledge the fact that game ended on hanging plot thread to be followed up on in another game but the ending still felt conclusive, we at least saw where almost everyone was concerning the aftermath of the case good and bad. In KnS2 it just ends with finding Toko and roll credits followed by that bit at the end. Does the conclusion leave Reiji broken and from there leave things for Masaki to be the full main character next game? What the heck are Naori's motives in all this? Why would he even care about publishing some serial killer's last works?

  6. Came across this news:

    http://www.animenewsnetwork.com/news/2016-09-01/blazblue-centralfiction-game-will-not-have-english-dub/.105970

I admit I'm probably one of the disappointed as I liked the dubbing for the series, Patrick Seitz really nailed it as Ragna for one and Mela Lee does just as good a voice for Rachel as Kana Ueda. Still Aksys did say they'd consider a dub DLC if interest was shown:

They're probably referring to this fan petition:

    https://www.change.org/p/aksys-games-support-the-dub-for-blazblue-central-fiction

Feel free to sign it if you enjoyed the dub or spread the word. Whether it helps change Aksys' mind or not is anyone's guess but still...Then again there is the inevitable expanded edition too...

  7. Persona 5 for me. While I do intend to play XV, I'm not going to be in any rush to play it. No it's not because I hated XIII, I actually liked it once the party actually got together and started doing stuff plus the battle system was pretty fun though I have a lot of problems with it such as the slow start and the villains pretty much sucking. I'm more interested in Persona 5 since it comes off as better put together while FFXV has some things that have me a little wary of paying full price for it and they are:

    1) The development cycle:

Considering how long this game's been in development and changed from being an FF13 tie in to a main number has me worried as to how that effects the plot and also whether the gameplay would be good.

    2) The tie in material:

With a movie and anime ova coming out prior I'm worried this will be another case of me having to look at other stuff besides the game for plot elements to make sense.

    3) Not sure if the open world will be worth exploring.

What I've seen doesn't have me convinced it'll be better than the open world from the Xenoblade games.

  8. You know a crossover between the Trails games and Tales games would be interesting, and considering Bamco did publish the Gagharv trilogy PSP ports it may not be completely impossible (though a couple characters showing up in the next Project X Zone is more likely). Then again considering the direction Cold Steel's going maybe we'll see some Trails characters in a Super Robot Wars game someday...

  9. For anime and manga:

JoJo's Bizarre Adventure series (though what you want would be at the third series, Stardust Crusaders as Phantom Blood has a slow start and in Battle Tendency Joseph can be a bit annoying at times)

    Hellsing

    Yu Yu Hakusho

    Flame of Recca

    GTO: Great Teacher Onizuka

scryed (anime only, the manga version..isn't good(though to be fair the series' ending sucks)

  10. I've heard heard really good things about Lilim's Blue series and I did think Dark Blue was decent but would have been way better if it had been longer.

Black Cyc's Gore Screaming Show has what you want in some of its bad ends.

Speed's  Kansen series sort of has what you want too, though I'm not sure if it counts as NTR if it's because of an infection...

Edit: There's also the bad ends in elf's Shin Mikagura Shojo Tanteidan

Some of the bad ends in Caligula's Shinsetsu Ryouki no Ori feature that, and there are a couple of similar bad ends in the second game but if there is one thing the first game did better (and more of) than the second was the bad end ero scenes. Though in every other aspect the second game is superior.

One guy I think deserves more subs is SebastianSB - he mainly focuses on Dark Soul stuff and RPGs, but his commentary is fun to listen to, and feels genuine - even if his playstyle is a bit frustrating at times. (he's not exactly the sharpest tool in the shed at times) :sachi:

You really should check out the Extra Credits spinoff where the main guy for the show Dan tries out Dark Souls. It's interesting to see his growing fascination with the series as he plays and gets better at it (he starts out playing along with the show's researcher but goes it on his own at the 25th video). It's an interesting combination of amusing and frustrating at the things he misses, but it does make for a good payoff when/if he learns. He's actually on Dark Souls 2 right now...

  12. I wasn't expecting this thread to remind me of back in college where I took a History of the English language course and one part of the course I remember is how when we were taking a look at different phases of "old" english (there's actually a topic there on what qualifies as "old english") one of them was how aspects of French became integrated into the language as seen by comparing two versions of Canterbury Tales: one written with the older style of english and the other where the French influence was pretty clear.
