  1. I'm reading satsukoi, new untranslated title. It's interesting thus far. It contains some violence, but it's not action focused. The story really captures you quite early on, and there seems to be some mysteries to be uncovered at the same time you really don't know what is going to happen. My expectations are quite high for this title, even if it's said to be short.
  2. VNR is not a machine translator, it's a text hooker with frills. It can be configured to machine translate from google for example. I use it to get furigana, saves me time looking up kanjis I don't know. Concerning its capacities, it's basically ITH under the hood, so every game that can be played on ITH can be played under VNR. Alternatives to VNR are using ITH or agth (very old school) together with translator aggregator. But I prefer running my VNs in full screen and with one application, even if it's a little on the heavy side.
  3. This has been discussed before, I think we reached the conclusion vndb doesn't calculate the length but members commit lengths for vns, which makes it into something you can't rely on.
  4. Internet existed 1988, however the World Wide Web was invented the year after. They probably distributed the translation on floppies and ordered the original game and that through mail-order (!?) I don't know, or it was a commercial release sold in stores.
  5. I assume it's the installation that asks for disk 2 .iso. Why not just try to mount one of them, if it's the correct one you can run the installation from it, if it's not, it'll just ask you to insert disk 2 (which then obviously is the other disk). By the way, disk 1 should be before disk 2 in alphabetic order anyways, even in Japanese.
  6. Nice, I have been looking forward to play Satsukoi since I first heard about it. However I felt it could be either a hit or flop, now I know I should give it the chance and I know what to read next.
  7. I respect people that are very scared of CGs of unread VNs. I myself don't want to view ones that spoils anything, perhaps I should have made it like this. Non spoiling CG from Meikyuu (well not this time) Back to topic pls.
  8. Welcome to this fantastic forum. Well I kind of think I've seen you before (sarcasm). I'm bad with knowing what's translated or not so I'll leave the recommendations as a welcome to check out vndb links. Also gif signature is one I've considered for myself before Enjoy your stay continued here.
  9. Then I sign you up for not only Meikyuu but Rakuen as well.
  10. I won't spoil, I actually thought over the choice of posting a CG raw since it's against my guidelines, but it's not revealing anything that spoils anything. Keep on and give Yumiko the attention she deserves.
  11. I've played both old and new VNs and have noticed graphics are improving very fast. Now there's hardly any 600*800 resolution VNs released among the ones that get focus. Not all new VNs are better, there are lots of bland ones, however I feel the worst level has become better... among the ones that get focus. There are those old gems where it doesn't matter that the graphics are bad (in the eyes of today), there's no voice-acting etc etc, they are still good. There's a reason behind Kanon getting translated 10 years after being made. However they made many crappier titles back then. It feels like they are focusing on a concept that works and now releases many more great-to-bland VNs leaving out the bad with the drawback the diversity has went down. Or I'm just glorifying the nostalgia.
  12. Out of the two I've read Grisaia + Daitoshokan I think Grisaia is the one that could be most successful if it's well adopted. However that's seldom the case, and I would deem it impossible doing it well in a 12 episode adoption, 24 episodes are needed. But then they got Meikyuu + Rakuen, and I think the anime industry likes sequels. Daitoshokan is probably easier to just make an anime out of, heck mash up random parts of it and you get another moe slice of life series. However to take out the full potential off it is harder.
  13. They also keep the tradition with stable releases despite taking up so much space, Summer Days crashed so often they re-released it as Shiny Days with one more arch-route. Sadly they got milder on the bad-ends and yandereness
  14. I use to have the latest 5 VNs installed but for the rest I have the install-disk and the memories saved away. I also separately save away the CG from memorable titles. I think not keeping VNs installed saves the value of re-reading them since you forget and it stops you from re-reading just "that" route and skipping the pre-route, instead you re-read the whole title when you miss it that much. I probably have the storage necessary having them all installed (including School Days and its spinoffs) but it clutters up, so it's not a storage problem.
  15. I think it's the gap between how kuu she acts at first sight and how cute she is at the same time that makes up her special attraction. Like first she tries to knife you, later she is shown to probably be the biggest scaredy-cat in the cast. And also how cute she acts later on in her route. I want to point this out as this is not usually the case with the typical kuudere where she just opens up to the protagonist. In short cryofrzd has boarded the Yumiko praising ship!
  16. Same here, To Heart 2 was great, so many characters and nice routes. I follow Micchi's blog with monthly previews, they give a fast insight in what's released each month. Also here on this forum vndb is quite widely used for looking up characters, VN-traits and rankings (even though you should take them with a pinch of salt). Some people here, including me put their vndb backlog on their profile. And we also have our fast-reader Clephas and his VN of the month thread.
  17. Clannad is indeed good, and I would rank Grisaia as the best I've read until now. On my portrait is Sayumi from Daitoshokan no Hitsujikai. Another VN I would recommend.
  18. Welcome to fuwanovel It's fun to have more members who have read VNs for a while. What VN would you consider the best one you've read? Enjoy your stay!
  19. Tenshin Ranman https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oKg5_1HAQ4Y So funny.
  20. Oniichan sharing is certainly good if you have the same tastes as me I don't play many nukige, one I enjoyed though was kurano-kun chi no futago jijou it was fun and had good characters and ofc a harem route
