It's finally time. And, as expected, KonoSuba 2 is great.

They took away the best part:

    Spoiler

“What nonsense are you saying? If Kazuma is sentenced to jail or death, you won’t be able to buy crab for me. Don’t worry, the one most familiar with being an attorney is me. Kazuma likes to play video games right? Haven’t you heard about people in Japan playing ‘Based Attorney’ and ‘Manganronpa’? I played both of them before.”

    And

I was out of ideas and speechless, at this moment.
    “-- Hold it!”

    eN30sYtbfIc.jpg

This confident voice came unexpectedly from Aqua.
To think this girl would hold a trump card at this juncture…!
“Aqua, tell them! Show them the decisive evidence that proves my innocence!”
“Huh? There’s no way I have something like that, I just wanted to try saying that.”
    “Remove that person from court!”

I so wanted it animated, and even hoped for a remix like in No Game No Life.

  2. I've been reading Lovesick Puppies the past few days, and damn, the VN's graphics are stunning (mainly the sprites). The BGMs aren't bad either with a few catchy ones.

Anyway, I just finished one route (Yuki), and I have to say that while the common route was really fun and all, the route was less engaging. It was still good, one of the best childhood friend route I played, but there wasn't this fun you have when everyone is here. Well, it's a problem in every VN. (And even if I say that, apparently Yuki's route is in the better side for this. Orie even play a rather major part in her route)

Now I think I will do Sonya's route (I'm not really into genki girls, but I quite like her!). Depending on how fast and how I'm into it, I will either continue or just stop here. (To be honest, I got a new game, and as much as I want to play it, I don't want to stop in the middle of a VN. Each time I did, I never continued them...)

  3. Worst? Easily Koiken Otome, didn't even finish it.

Best? It's a little difficult. Really liked Ace Attorney 6, but let's put it aside as I consider it more a game than a VN. Then a tie between Hatsuyuki Sakura and Root Double I guess.

But if I have to choose ones released in 2016, then Worst is Zero Time Dilemma and Best is AA6.

  4. And, finished. A few hours ago (especially because of Aya second BS end) I would have given the VN a 8, but after finishing it, I decided to give it at least 8.5 because I really liked the end of the True Route. Anyway, from last time:

Perhaps doing Yoru's route made me stop being so focused on Aya, because the other routes were easier to read without thinking too much.

Nozomu: Even if I don't like the couple Hatsuyuki x Nozomu and the route was pretty normal, the comedy was really fun and I really enjoyed it (Particulary with the Ero Book XD).

Shirokuma: A few good comedic moments, but otherwise didn't really like it. Wasn't boring, just that I didn't care about Shirokuma.

True: Good comedy and was really good as a whole. Hatsuyuki was kinda meh (Even more in Aya second end.......... Let's not talk about it). Anyway, I was fearing the end, but I liked it.

If you take the VN as a whole, I liked it and it was good, but still, there is Aya. Well I guess we are marked by it that much because of her end. (Well, if you ignore what she says at the end of the True, you can kinda imagine she is the end girl... *flee from reality*)

Anyway, girl ranking : Aya ≥ Yoru > Sakura > Nozomu > Shirokuma

Route ranking: True > Aya > Yoru > Nozomu > Shirokuma

And that's it for my first Saga Planets VN. Don't think I'll ever do Natsuyume Nagisa as it's considered "worse" than Hatsuyuki Sakura. Kisaragi Gold Star, Karumakura Circle, Hanasaki Work Spring!, Floral Flowlove, wich one should be next?

  5. It was difficult, but finished Yoru's route. The route in itself wasn't bad, and the end was touching (loved "Furyou Yoru"), but I just couldn't forget Aya...

Normally, each route are their own, so it's fine, but it's something that happened in the past, so everything DID happen. Even though I like Hatsuyuki, it's kinda lowering my opinion about him. I mean, everything he said (his resolution and all) at the end of Aya's route (so before the start of the VN) went down the drain and he just go with another girl (depending on the route you do) as if it didn't happen.

I won't say anything about the VN before the end now (I mean, I have to go through Nozomu and Shirokuma so...), but I have a question: Should I do Aya's second end before or after the true route? (Her route is totally diverging from the True, or it's kinda following it until a certain point?)

I know that Aya's second end will just break my heart more than it already is, but I want them to be together again, even if it's short.

I have to say, though, that I didn't thought I would be this invested in the VN. Or should I say the characters? (because, even if it's fun, it's not stellar) Anyway, the reason I like it is also the reason I hate it, so it's a strange feeling...

  7. So, because at the end of this week I'll have to go back to my parents' house for Christmas, I decided to read a short VN, thinking that with my reading speed and college it will take me the week, and began to read Satsukoi. And yeah, it's short.  If I had known, I would have chosen another VN, now I won't be able to read another one before the end of the week...

Anyway, it's a rather strange VN. The premise is weird, and there is almost no romance (Or should I say it's badly developed?), but I like the MC (his design is cool, so I searched for more MCs with long hair on VNDB and there was so much cross-dressing...) and the characters interactions and humor are great. My favorite girl was Nao and her route too was my favorite. Mainly because the romance was done better in this route. Ruri and Yuu's routes weren't bad, just that the love came out of nowhere in Ruri's route, and it wasn't well developed (imo) in Yuu's one.

Also, the transition with the CG and BGM at the end of everything hit you right in the feels.

Wasn't the best thing ever, but it's worth reading, and with how short it is people should try it! Should be added in the VNs for beginners of @Clephas, aside from a few things here and there it's an easy read.

  8. Hey hey hey, the worst Tales of is Tempest. Also, even if IT'S one of the worst Tales of, it's still good as a game. Just that it shouldn't have been the sequel of Symphonia.

As for romance in the Tales of, it's implied that Shing and Kohaku end together in Hearts, Senel and Shirley in Legendia (Chloe T_T), Stahn and Rutee in Destiny (come on, they have a son in Destiny 2!), Graces f with Asbel and Cheria (yeah, f, it really becomes a thing in the f part), Rebirth is all about Veigue searching for Claire (so yeah, they end up together).

The other Tales of have hints of romance too, but nothing concluding aside perhaps Abyss (Luke and Tear) and Symphonia (but you're the one who decide in Symphonia, so does it count?).

So, there is a little romance in the Tales of, just that it's in the back compared to the rest. (The exception being Hearts, as the game is about the heart and Kohaku recovering her feelings)

it does, I actually explain that using a different text hooker rather than the one that chiitrans has is better. I do not recommend using the hooker that comes with chiitrans, it's clunky, has some bugs and you constantly need to select the threads that you want to read, not worth it since using ITH or ITHVNR is the same and faster.

    ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

I need to update the guide and also add a tutorial on how to read vns from a virtual machine since for me being able to read full screen without borders or anything else distracting is the priority when I use this program but I'm really lazy and I don't want to right now.

But you don't talk about this one:

    Spoiler

    1481451437-capture.jpg

But it's true that the ITH guide was here, just that using Chiitrans hooker is faster than opening ITH and hooking everytime. That why I wanted a method without ITH.

This does tend to happen when parsers run into katakana. It doesn't always know the bet way to parse them, mistake words for others and so on. It  isn't always used to seeing normal words spelled out purposely with kana, and mistakes them for something else.

What you can attempt to do, is highlight the word, then hit space. If chiitrans recognizes what you have highlighted, it will reparse with that selection. Sometimes it simply won't though. For these instances, you could alternatively copy the entire phrase and put it into google, and see if you can find some webpages with information on the word. I don't know if there is any other solution to this, as it's not so much the parser's fault as it is simply the phrases being too hard to parse right without a person thinking about its usage and such.

Thanks for the answer, but that's not what I meant, so here's a screenshot:

    Spoiler

    http://image.noelshack.com/fichiers/2016/49/1481380502-capture.jpg

As you can see, only one 'tsu' was parsed. Or perhaps it isn't the right word? If that's the case, it's normal that you didn't understood what I meant and I'm sorry for the mistake.

  11. Playing Satsukoi right now, and when something is in double (hiragana, katakana, punctuation, etc...), it only parse one. (Only one 'ko' is parsed when 'koko' is written for example)

I can still read it directly, so no problem, but sometimes when there is a bunch of descriptions I tend to look ATLAS rather than reading myself.

So if someone had this problem and knows how to solve it.

    Thanks!

  12. Finished Eustia. So, what to say? I'm unsatisfied.

The VN was good and I really liked it. The setting is interesting, and (most of) the characters are likeable. The story is great and I really enjoyed it.

But then come the ending(s). How the other heroines aside from Eustia were treated aside, as good as the end is, I'm just not satisfied with it. Be it the way it happened, or the result.

Anyway, I could write a long rant and all, but in the end I would just finish and say I liked it nonetheless and don't regret reading it. (that and I'm bad at writing reviews/rants)

  13. So, I'm still reading Eustia slowly but surely, and I should be able to reach the end of the 4th arc in a few days. Until there, I didn't read the heroines' ends (Didn't want to be disappointed), but I think I saw in a few reviews that at least Licia's end was good and worth to read. Should I read her end before going for the true, or read it after?

As for the VN itself, it's rather good. Not as good as I hoped because of its popularity, but still quite good. I'm only really disappointed that I kinda "abandonned" the other heroines on the side after they fell for Caim. Like @Clephas , I'm not fond of the ladder-style.

  14. @Lucius It's fine if you want to do that. Like I said, Cold Steel is playable on its own. Also, going by your logic, if you really like Cold Steel and decide to play the older games, when you'll be playing Cold Steel again, you'll be able to enjoy every little things you didn't notice the first time playing. The only difference would be that it won't be as 'new' as the first time.

@Jun Inoue Well, the 3rd wasn't even supposed to be translated and look, it's coming in 2017. And even if it won't be translated, my plans from the start were to have a high enough level in japanese to play the Evolution versions on Vita. At worst, I can even play the PSP versions with a text hooker. Where there is a will, there is a way.

Finally, are you serious? Zero/Ao and Cold Steel are literally spoiling each other. One more reason I want to do them in order. Cold Steel was made with the fact that the players already knew certain events. But the reverse isn't as true, because Zero and Ao where already done. I'm sure the writers took it in count, but it's not possible to change what's already done. What's more, I don't want to be spoiled about the Crossbell Arc, consired to be the best of the series.

  15. Because even if each arc can arguably be played without playing the others, if story really matter to you, you should play all the game in their release order.

It's not just reference to the previous games for the fans, it's actual story that happened. You may enjoy the game on its own, but it's far more enjoyable if you have everything you need.

Example: Spoiler, but not really, if you look at the character presentation

    Spoiler

Olivier, one of the main characters of Trails in the Sky, being an Erebonian Prince, appears in Cold Steel. The character's depth is totally different depending on if you played the Trails in the Sky games.

Because I didn't play Cold Steel, it's one of the only things I know, but that's mainly because Cold Steel is more related to Zero and Ao as they happen at the same time, unlike the Trails in the Sky games which happen before. But what happened in Trails in the Sky affect the things in Zero, Ao and Cold Steel. Everything is related.

I will say it one more time, you can enjoy Cold Steel on its own, but if you played the games before, it must be even better. That's why I don't want to play them in the wrong order.

  16. I did it! After almost two weeks, I finished Trails in the Sky SC!!!! So almost three weeks for the two. Damn, those who had to wait five years to play SC must hate me.

In the end, I really liked the game, the characters, the world and all. I regret doing the games now, because I have to wait for the 3rd now... The good news is that it's not a cliffhanger like between FC and SC, and the main story of Estelle and Joshua is over to let place to Kevin as the protagonist of the 3rd. (Key words being 'main story', as Estelle and Joshua still appear in the 3rd. They still have things to do, as mentioned at the end of SC)

Anyway, if Sora no Kiseki (Trails in the Sky) is that good, I really want to play Zero and Ao no Kiseki which are reputed to be the best of the series. (And, no, I won't play Sen no Kiseki (Cold Steel) before Zero and Ao)
