Great job. Translation been pretty good for first few hours, there is however few translation errors but nothing major which is good if this really is your first project. The biggest problem still would be a bit too direct translations. Like "complicated face" or "head not being good" or "train running".

Plenty of small typos and few line breaks, but I am sure you are well aware of those already. Favorites engine is quite tedious to work with especially with those line breaks and weird glitches.

Really looking forward the rest of the translation and I hope you will get there. This game truly is one of those "stories that no matter how many times you read, you never get bored off" So good luck with rest of the translation!

    Happy new year everyone!

I'll be honest here, I had some last minute trouble and I couldn't get it in before the year end, but the common route is finally here.
I have added a link to the download in the post, you can check it out. Hope you all enjoy it.

I eagerly await everyone's feedback and criticism.

    ...Well then,
    Hello everyone.
I'll try my best to release the common route patch by christmas or at least before the next year.
The biggest thing that remains is editing the UI elements, which I have already translated and should (hopefully) be done by then.
Most of the other stuff is done, so I'll release it soon.

So, as a little preview of what to expect on a qualitative level, we prepared a little prologue patch for you.
Note that this is not the final product and many an iteration is yet to come to polish it, but it should serve as a general representative of the level we strive to uphold.

    The patch contains:
    - All image content that needed translation / editing. We also took the liberty to fix some serious fuck-ups like "Sinario Select"... Don't blame us on the "Option" header in the menu, that's also one of favorite's masterful exercises of English and would involve a LOT of editing to change since it's on like 10+ images with distortion effects and whatnot...
    - Fully translated & edited prologue segment of the game
    - Subbed opening movie

Note: You need version 1.1 of the game. Click to download.

    Special thanks goes to:
binaryfail for helping me with all the stuff that was over my head
ayase for masterful image editing skills (and almost 100 images at that!)
chuee for having handled most of the editing

Note that save files you might have are not compatible, so you might be well-advised to rename your save folder.

    And here goes the patch.

Both positive and critical feedback is highly appreciated.

I sent you an email a bit earlier, but I figured there's no harm in throwing a post here as well in case the email gets missed.

Unless you have explicit permission from Zakobot to use his translation, I can't allow this project to be hosted here.

I've talked to Zakobot before and know his stance on patches as well. If he doesn't want to do anything about this I'll unlock the thread, if not I suggest you don't start this and respect Zakobot's wishes. If you do want to start a patch even after that, please use your own translation instead.

Until I hear back from him, I'll be keeping the thread locked.

I was wondering if they do this kind of thing and go for crowd funding, how much money would you guys offer for that?
Personally I would use 100-150€, depending about the project title of course.

Let's see... I would say there is 3 types of translation types.

Number 1 : Guy who don't know any/some japanese and uses google tranlatate or Atlas to translate the text. This would be called Machine translation.

Number 2 : Guy who has basic or good understanding of japanese language, but doens't read kanji well enough and uses application to turn it into furigana, and translate the text with own skills + dictionary
Number 3 : Guy who has good japanese skills and good understanding of the language and culture. Reads kanji well enough and doesn't need help from program to change it to furigana.

Number 1 would be considered the worst kind of TL there is. VN community usually despises these kind of translator because the text is bad or the meaning has changed. Machine translation will never be as good as person translating the text and that is because how the Japanese language is. If you translate something with Machine translation, then keep it to yourself and never release patch.

Number 2 is a bit hard to judge. Basically its considered half machine and some of the meaning in the text might change, because of lack of understanding of the language by the translator. I am one of those who uses this one, because my kanji understanding is still considered small.

Number 3 is most likely a person who has lived in Japan or has really long history with language. Translation usually is accurate and meaning of text stays. Only problem is, that there are not so many "number 3s" who are in translation scene.

I hope this answered some of your questions, and yes I would say it's required to have some experience of Japanese language to start translating anything. Learning the language is really long road and everyone who wants to go there has to start from small and reach the top someday.
