  1. Kazami Kazuki was such an interesting character in Kajitsu that she became the object of my only pet theory I have come up with in any visual novel to date. In my head, I pieced together random bits of information from every route and the conclusion I came to instinctively was
  2. I used to lurk for awhile, but I do remember picking up that this game is singlehandedly the cause of a supposed curse placed on Yuzusoft titles predicting that they will never be fully translated. I think there was one on another developer which I liked too, but it's been so long since I've bothered checking that I've forgotten about it. On a more serious note: Aiyoku no Eustia is actually cursed and will NEVER get translated. So don't even think about asking about it either.
  3. This anime made me cry. I watched the first 4 episodes before dropping it. For me, having read the manga, Arata was meant to be a cool pervert who was of above average intelligence, but the anime made me hate him. I had the same problem with the rest of the cast as well, and I blamed the voice actors who seemed like they just didn't want to be there. Add in the horrible and random frame/scene timings and the show became a train wreck. I specifically remember the Yui dream dragon fight where there were a few frames of Arata behind cover leaving, and then he is back in cover, before magically being in the middle of the fight. Best girl is definitely Levi, she totally supports Arata's perverseness, and second best is Arin, because of the line near the end of chapter 41 XD
  4. One day you shall learn to like the "dark" side. As you read more, the things you will come across will increase and you will start to think "that's not so bad" and you will eventually start casually reading it. Also, vanilla isn't always safe o.O Personally, I must have a misogynistic side. I enjoy anything where the girl slowly breaks into fragments of her former self in one way or the other. NTR is wonderful, why play the good guy when you can rather connect with the one doing the breaking. I blame this one for finally awakening this fetish. http://www.doujin-moe.us/6cpedw9j
  5. That's probably because, like me, we do minimal research on whether or not a VN suits our taste. The nakige and utsuge, yaoi and BL, and other tags are instant ignores from me. It's the reason why I wll never pick up, and thus never drop a Key VN again. You don't watch everything you see on TV, in a similar fashion, you don't read every VN. The people with higher ratios are just better at distinguishing these traits, and considering how we've come to the niche of visual novels in the first place, we probably know exactly what we want and can filter out most of what we would drop.
  6. This scene made me cry. I didn't give a shit about pinkie's gang bang scene, but this one made me WTF so hard that I just skipped it. I also just completely skipped Kaoru's route because I couldn't care less about her character even though it looked fairly decent in the action department from the cutscenes as I watched them scroll by.
  7. Wait, in which game did this happen? I don't seem to recall this moment. I don't have any embarrassing stories. My parents stay away from me when I'm on the computer or when I'm connecting my laptop to the TV to watch anime. My dad basically ignores everything japanese because he worked with some assholes in japan for some time (he calls them hypocritical because they preach quality, but will sell you junk on purpose) while my mom is just a xenophobe. She saw the TV one time while I was watching anime and it was only when she heard the japanese voices that she proclaimed "Turn that shit off". She was enjoying it up to that point too, and then I deadpan looked into her eyes and said "then why do you go to church? you don't understand latin, so whats the difference". She hasn't bothered me about it since.
  8. I found this one pretty funny. Nukige are in their own league for me. I'd much rather read them than watch porn because of the setup. Call me a romantic or whatever, but watching two people mash each other's privates together with no particular purpose makes it feel empty. Storyline is important, as it gets you involved with the characters. Here's another unpopular opinion on the same note: I find the first H-Scenes of a character route important because it lets me know that they've romantically crossed the line, and anything after that I could generally care less about.
  9. Am I being over sensitive or is SakuSaku almost a rehash of HoshiMemo? It seems like it's using almost the same exact setting and characters, even down to their backgrounds. We have Tina the Mare, Jinpou the Hisakaki, Konami the Chinami, Mio the Asuho, and Yuri the Aoi. It is actually appaling how similar they appear to be.
  10. A: you're quoting from Wikipedia, who anybody can change. B: I don't consider most VN's games unless they have actual gameplay (ie. Rance, Neko Neko Machine Race) and even then, it might be arguable to call them games with hentai content (Kamidori, maybe most things by Eushelly?) rather than actual Visual Novels. Calling a true visual novel a game is like calling a Choose Your Own Adventure book a board game, its silly.
  11. I've already done that. Key bores me just as much as the TV station Hallmark. In fact I basically attribute it to the same reason: they both do the same thing over and over again, so much that it gets repetitive. They have a formula, and they stick to it, so its gotten stale. Started SakuSaku, seeing if the VN is worth waiting for by reading the common.
  12. Check the vndb page for that specific VN, as just like a book, they are all different lengths. Personally? I generally aim for the 10-30 hours unless I hear about a specific mechanic of the game or that it is overwhelmingly excellent. I figure more than 30 hours (3 days for the jobless me) means that the story is probably dragging along and I'll be more likely to lose interest.
  13. I'll drop it as soon as it attempts to play a card that makes me think that its a nakige. There are plenty of ways to involve the player emotionally rather than holding a character hostage for half the game. I play the game for interaction with the character, taking them away is utterly pointless.
  14. Michiru puts on the act for a very specific reason, and thus is part of her character. Once you meet that confrontation, you suddenly won't feel estranged by it and realize how natural it was for her to do it.
  15. I concur, while she never gets "smarter", she does sort of drop the act later on and it becomes much more natural. I must say that when I read it, I ranked her fairly lowly with Makina as my favorite as her route was much more action and catered to what I cared about the most. Honestly in retrospect, Michiru's route might be the most emotionally impactful with Sachi following.
  16. Edit 2: SO MANY UNFORGETTABLE QUOTES Wait for some of Makina's later lines, she has some of the singular best ones ever. I just finished My Girlfriend is the President and I had to skip through Yukino's route. It was so boring, and after checking the FanDisk, I'm glad they picked what are my opinion, the two better of the four routes, hopefully they keep up the shenanigans like in their stories. Back to Cross Channel which for some reason I stopped after 4 hours in when it was getting really good. Seriously, I have no clue why I stopped, it was hitting all the right points for me to enjoy a well put together story.
