I'd hate to rain on your parade, but usually anime/manga -> VN adaptations aren't all that great. Of course there is a chance that they can be good, but changes are slim.

E-book readers are good for that purpose. I've used the Kindle and the latest Kobo before off my friends. I can read them for hours and they don't strain my eyes anywhere near as much as a tablet does. It's a good investment if you have an assortment of books/LNs to read.
