  1. デイスクの読み書さでエラーが発生しました。 "An error has occurred in the read and write of the disk."
  2. I'm using Win 8.1 myself and don't have any problems. Stop seeding the torrent if you're still at it. Make sure the files aren't read-only.
  3. That's intriguing. Your job is rejecting? And welcome back, by the way. I'm sort of new to this forum myself, and I don't think I've met you before. From what I've noticed from the time I've registered and become more or less active member, the biggest change is probably in structure of this forum (as you may have noticed yourself as well). Member's Lounge, Help Us Out. Other than that - haven't noticed anything drastic. While I'm at it, allow to express my joy regarding the fact that we share the same favourite visual novel.
  4. Instant rejection. I like that.
  5. At times motivation can be hard to find. Other times I even happen to look for a way to motivate my motivation itself. The best method (for me, at least) is the one Ren mentioned - find a person who has already travelled the path you're treading on, and be inspired by him by simply following in his footsteps. What may often keep you from progressing are doubts about whether what you're doing (or planning to do, in this case) is right or not, whether it will truly get you what you're aiming for. Following your own path (the one you pointed out for yourself using your own knowledge, for instance) is similar to walking through snow at the level of your waist wearing heavy clothes, while following in someone's footsteps can be compared walking on a path someone's already walked before. Seeing a clear road in front of you (seeing that your goal is reachable because someone's already reached before you) can inspire you just as much as your goal itself. What remains is finding a suitable person to show the path. I think you'll figure out the meaning behind the images yourself.
  6. Your signature was made for cases like this, wasn't it? How is it?
  7. Finished Komomo's and Kosame's routes in Hoshizora no Memoria. Next comes Asuho. Probably.
  8. The details would be highly appreciated.

Really like the detail that you can change the sound level. Just opened it and after a while I checked if it was raining outside...

      Immersive, isn't it?

      Very immersive.

  9. Grisaia no Kajitsu is the safest bet. Pragmatic protagonist, intense story, beautiful graphics.
  10. 1) The main issue seems to be that most VNs consider the moral values of the protagonist and not your own. Well, think about this for a moment: what determines one's moral values and principles in the first place? Isn't that his/her own past experiences? If every given choice reflecting moral principles has to be picked by you, wouldn't that mean that the protagonist himself has no integrity of his own? What most VNs do is provide you with a point of view of an individual whose moral values are already established. It's obvious that at this point what's left for you is only to pick the route of the heroine you're interested in. Even though at this point, if protagonist's personal past experiences are influencing his choices regarding morality, it'd make pretty good sense if they'd influence his choice in picking a heroine as well (but I guess that'd be too much of restricting). 2) I think this is the main point: It may not be impossible, but it'd probably require tremendous amount of planning, writing and recording. Which in the end would amount to a significant budget required for the production. Especially if you're talking about major events happening after picking various choices - imagine how many different routes and endings it'd require. It's also true that not everyone enjoys pondering about such philosophical matters. Even aside from Moege, if the author has a moral message to deliver, it's enough to do so with plain writing. Such questions may be able to add a certain spice to the story, but it'd be troublesome if they were to affect the story and the ending in particular. You said it yourself, there's no right or wrong when it comes to them. So why does one has to end up with a bad ending after answering such a question? And if they weren't, wouldn't people consider them useless? 3) It would certainly be more realistic, but I'd make me replay the same pieces over and over again. I hate the idea. I like intuitive choices and I hate the ones that are not - especially if they determine the ending I end up getting. For that reason I also dislike "Go to location A / B / C / D, which will make you meet heroine A / B / C / D" principle if I don't know what I end up with. 4) It's meaningful and meaningless at the same time. Meaningful, because it'd be able to create a more immersive experience. Meaningless, because it'd only be immersive for the first time. The player can always revert to a previous save file and go through the same thing, this time already knowing what's awaiting for him. Again, it'd probably be more realistic but I dislike the idea because the choice is not intuitive. Save the children and die protecting them? Save the mother and be killed by her? Save none and be abandoned by the others? It'd require you to go back every time you realize it's leading you to the ending you don't want to get. I'd rather have a protagonist making a wrong choice by himself and get a "sad" ending rather than going back later and replay the same piece again to get that particular good ending. It ruins the immersion for me.
  11. I've been thinking about this after I've finished watching OriginalRen's last podcast. Making VNs popular in the places they aren't is great, but what exactly does it mean to make them popular? Making what popular? Visual Novels can be considered either as a purely Japanese thing, telling the story while portraying Japanese culture, traditions and jokes using Japanese art. Or they can be viewed as any kind of art combined with a hopefully voiced text and BGM. In the first case, "making VNs popular in the west" as a concept would be similar to "making takoyaki popular in the west". Both are things that originated from Japan, both are already known in Japan at a level decent enough for commercial companies to make profit from them, advertising and spreading them amongst the population. In the second case, it'd mean to concentrate on the combination itself - without paying heed to the actual art used. Any would do and Marvel, Disney, Pixar Studios would all be able to produce their own Visual Novels, using their own art. So what is a VN for you? Is the Japanese art or culture essential in it or not? TL;DR - would you like to read a Visual Novel made by Disney?
  12. Maybe adding an option to change the position of the button would work better? I prefer the current position myself, but it doesn't look bad when put in the box.
  13. Go the page of the visual novel you like. Above the description, look for the "User options" panel. "Not voted yet" field allows you to select your vote for the VN - from 1 to 10. "Not on your VN list" field allows you to choose how far have you gone with that VN. "Not on your wishlist" field is mainly for you to keep the list of VNs you'd like to check it out in the future. You've got to be logged in your account, of course. Hope that helps.
  14. Welcome to the forum. Enjoy your stay.
  15. Had a "party" (if you can call a gathering of a bunch of adults discussing fishing boats a party, that is) with some of my relatives. Now checking Fuwa's and another anime forum. Waiting for the new year to come, with 15 minutes left at my place. To answer your question, check out this article. Forgive my laziness, for this year I have no will left to read. Resolutions? Good question. I'm planning to learn all the Jouyou kanji by the end of it, finish this school with satisfying marks, find a job during to make some money to spend for myself. Maybe finding a girlfriend? We'll see how it goes. Best moment as in "the most memorable one" or "the most pleasant one"? I've had a school trip on a boat this year. It took as about a week and on one night I had to stay awake during the night to make sure the wind wouldn't carry the boat away. It was quite a strong wind that night, but the sky was clear and really beautiful. I have a feeling it was a full moon that night, but I may be wrong (maybe I just wish it was?). That was one memorable moment. It was quite cold though, so I can't say it was that pleasant. But the scenery was wonderful, that's for sure. The most pleasant one was (probably) the moment I've finished reading G-Senjou no Maou. At least that's the first thing that pops in my mind. I remember it made quite an impact on me. A pleasant kind of one. A really pleasant kind of one.
  16. Many error messages appear because game files are still read-only. Make sure you're not seeding the torrent of the game you're currently playing as well. Other than that, you'll have to provide a little more information.
  17. Cold personality always intrigues me. It makes me wonder what kind of events did that girl go through that make her become like that? If there are any tsundere or kuudere I'm probably gonna like them the best. She's got to be of appropriate age for the protagonist, though. For instance, in Canvas 2 - Tomoko's tsundere, but I still like Kiri the best. I like shy girls too (Hanako from Katawa Shoujo, Mizuki from Edelweiss). Unless they're weird (Yukie from Majikoi freaks me out). Clever types attract me as well. Combine that will a little clumsiness and you'll have one of my personal favorites - Haru from G-Senjou no Maou. I usually dislike deredere (or any overly clingy characters), unless it feels somehow unnatural, which makes want to discover if there's something else going on. Think about Amane from Grisaia no Kajitsu (I like Yumiko better, though). Of course, appearance plays a good role as well. I'm not gonna like her personality if I don't like how she looks. As for the hero (protagonist), my favourite type is pragmatic one.
