  1. I just finished Midori no Umi. Good stuff, it makes me want to restart my inactive review blog. Anyway, I'm currently undecided what to read next between 4 VNs. There are no review for those, so I want to hear your opinion who have read them: Abyss -Homicide Club- Satsukoi ~Yuukyuu Naru Koi no Uta~ Kamitsure ~7 no Nijou Fushigi~ What do you think I should read next?
  2. By aggressive, I mean in trying to romance the heroine. He's highly aware of his feeling and is proactive. A lot of VN have plots where the protag and the heroine are solving a problem in the heroine route, then slowly falling in love (especially with donkan protag). Now, I'm interested in a more 'aggressive' approach, romance-wise. Even better if the heroine is the donkan one instead Any language is fine. And yes, I'm just looking for a romance VN. So preferably, not much supernatural/action/fantasy stuffs. Thanks!
  3. I only play one route (the loli one), I can't stand grinding after that.
  4. I decided to drop Ruitomo, because it's freaking hard to comprehend what the characters are talking about I'm gonna pick this title again sometimes in the future for sure, but for now, I'm reading Harukuru. Cool It might be really bad at first, but you'll get used to it.
  5. The only VN song I like to hear from time to time even until now is Inganock ED. Such a beautiful piece...
  6. I think the gore scene only exists in one ending... right? Not really sure though, the protagonist is just too painful to read. Also, since the poster allows it, let me ask for a suggesstion too I'm looking for a VN that's similiar to Caucasus -Nanatsuki no Nie- (or in the literature, something like "And Then There Were None", isolated murder mystery). Either untranslated or not is alright.
  7. It's been very fun these last two weeks. VN I have read in that span of time: - All Rewrite character routes, waiting for the translation of the true route. (9.4/10) - Two routes in Toppara Zashikiwarashi. (7.4/10) - Almost all endings, including true ending, in Caucasus. This one is a bit crazy, I read them all in just one day. (9/10) Now then, the next VN I'm going to read is Ruitomo.
  8. I haven't watched any anime whose VN adaptation/original I have played before, also applied otherwise. But then again, I rarely watched anime either.
  9. The only route that I fondly remembered from time to time from this VN is Komomo's. True route is great I guess, but I don't know... It lacks a certain magic to make me feel attached to it.
  10. I can't bring myself to read any VN because of college, work, and more importantly, I've been reading The Godfather and The Brothers Karamazov for the first time, awesome literature Still, I tried to play a different VN than what I'm currently playing, my first Shuumon Yuu's VN - Tenshi no Hane, for a change of pace. It's good so far, trap protagonist with a serious plot in a very unusual setting, modern medieval setting. Strangely very readable with Atlas even though it's written by Yuu, maybe because it's his easiest work I guess... I need to finish the brothers soon.
  11. Amnesia looks like it has a very interesting gameplay. Shame it's only available in PSP :(/>
  12. Like Jun said. Though if you have Xbox 360, you can play Chaos;Head Noah, in which the available routes are expanded based on each heroine.
  13. Saihate no Ima, Soukko Aki Muramasa, Baldr Sky Series, Eushully stuffs, Oretsuba, Innocent Grey stuffs, Eden (webnovel).
  14. If you get that impression, those are just their facade :P/> Except the poor damsel, most of them have their own unique touch that's hard for me to forget. Both of them are solid. Ask yourself if you want a more fantasical setting (FSN) or realistic setting (S;G)
  15. I feel a kindred spirit with you, an interesting protagonist is usually the first characteristic in my mind when I'm looking for a VN to read. That said, I'll list some of the best protagonists I have ever read: 1) Kazami Yuuji from Grisaia no Kajitsu, what makes him stood out is his unique narration in the common route where he loves to open a scene with funny anecdotes followed with the scene itself, making me read the extremely long common route without skipping any of them one bit. His rather dubious approach towards daily life problems coupled with his natural badass personality makes him even more entertaining to read, though it's kinda like full metal panic in that regards. 2) Okabe Rintarou from Steins;Gate, who doesn't like him? A delusional mad scientist complete with evil laughter yet deeper than what he usually looks like. 3) Tokisaka Reiji from Kara no Shoujo, the very definition of Noir protagonist done right. 4) All protagonists from looseboy's creation, generally a well-written protagonist with badass personality and bright mind. 5) Kawano Hatsuyuki from Hatsuyuki Sakura, a tsundere character with rich background story. There are other unusual tendencies (like drinking booze when he is stressed) which just serves to make his character more fleshed out than most. Certainly one of the best tsukkomi protagonist, ever. 6) Most trap protagonists, but this is just my personal preference The one from Koitate is especially awesome.
  16. Symphonic Rain and Rin ga Utau maybe? Ar Tonelico series are probably the closest one I can think of, but that's not pure VN
  17. Romance is not necessary. But if I have to choose between romance should exist or not, I will choose the former cause love makes the world goes around. Regarding NTR, I have no qualm reading that, but it tends to be a hit-or-miss approach. If written wonderfully, it can incite a depressing plot that is heart-wrenching. Though so far, the fictions that I really like the NTR element are in fanfiction or manga, I haven't found a good NTR VN yet (maybe Biniku no Kaori in the future).
  18. Majikoi has a normal school setting with martial artists everywhere.
  19. And so I finished Euphoria. Seriously, the amount of plot twist is so much that the true route is just mindblowing, especially with its good use of unreliable narrator. Now, maybe I'm gonna pick otoboku next, in dire need of something light to read.
  20. Cool! So your tablet is intel-based? Me, I'm waiting for Surface to be sold in my country
  21. Finished Tsuriotsu, and now I'm still half mind between Euphoria and Otoboku, hmm...
  22. Welcome I'm also learning Japanese myself, and I feel it firsthand that forgetting to continue the kanji practice even one day makes me forget many stuffs Of course, there is always atlas.
  23. Thanks! I read a couple of posts from the blog. I have to say I like the her(his?) writing, sparkly men notwithstanding.
  24. Stay there till you get to the true route, it's going to be yowza B) I've been hearing good things about Christina Love's works, maybe I'll pick them up someday, thanks for reminding me. And of course, welcome to the forum
  25. This reminds me of my neighbor who pseudo-worships Madoka. It's good and have a great deconstruction theme. But the pace just gets weirder as the show goes on, though the episode of Homura's past sets the series back on track. Then again, I still think of Saya no Uta as Urobuchi's greatest work. More importantly, I just don't get why Madoka is elevated to deity status comparable or even greater than Haruhi^^;
