  1. Seems to be a duplicate of this issue. Unfortunately, there is no answer as well on that thread. Does that error consistently happen? If so, it might be worth to try reinstalling the game since it seems that the voice file in the SS is corrupt and failed to open.
  2. Color me suprised! I haven't known that the sequel to one of my favorite VN was out. I'm really out of touch with VN scene this year. So, is this continuing any route from the first game?
  3. It seems like the opinion is pretty divided between these two titles, I'd really like to play both if I have time... I think I'll go with Tokyo Babel since I like biblical mythology more than Japanese. @Suzu Fanatic I kinda expected that Deus Ex Machina is unavoidable, but the fewer that is, the better. That's why I really dislike some major shounen manga, where almost every battle must end in deus ex machina in some ways. Also, which flaws were you referring to for Tokyo Babel?
  4. I'm in the mood of reading chuuni work. Should I go with Ayakashibito or Tokyo Babel (or something else entirely)? My only preference is that there is no deus ex machina if possible. But I just want to hear your thoughts first for those who have read both. Or maybe another similar suggestion, though I'm only looking for translated work right now.
  5. Hmm, I don't think sharing illegal torrent is allowed here. You might want to remove that from your post.
  6. Just finished Hatoful Boyfriend, which is surprisingly good. I'm going to read Lovely x Cation 2 next, my first foray into reading Japanese VNs without Atlas. I hope it's an easy read
  7. My bad, I changed them into the more common terms (true route). Also, if you are curious, BBL stands for Bad Boys Love. Anyway, there is no romance whatsoever despite the route's name. To be fair, I rarely troll. If you want to get a glimpse, try out Yuuya/Shuu route first. Among the individual routes, they are the better ones. They also provide more insight into the true route than the others. It is surprisingly similar in vein with Ever17 and the likes that I mentioned above.
  8. Just finished Hatoful Boyfriend until True epilogue. I have quite mixed feeling here, but I still believe it's a recommended read. It's short anyway. I feel that it's underrated in VN community, maybe because it's otome and gimmicky (at a glance, it's actually not that gimmicky the more you read). Anyway, I'll just a give a short review here. The bad things first: - Except True route and the overall main plot, the pace of some individual routes are freakin fast, barely resembling coherent stories. - The romantic developments often come out of nowhere. Even though it seems like it, romance is definitely the weakest point of this game. - Stats are generally not interesting, especially since they are mostly just used for route requirements. But its relevancy in combat scenes are hilarious. - True route requires you to have a huge suspension of disbelief and tolerant of deus ex machinas. - While the idea behind the main story is good, the execution could be better I feel. I especially don't like how the plot twists are revealed. It's like the writer is too impatient to reveal them. The good things: - The main story is actually quite good, in a somewhat scifi-wtf-kind-of-way. - While I flamed the individual routes, they are surprisingly good at planting little hints here and there, connecting them with the main story. Most of them are relevant and elicit 'oooh, so that's what they are!' feeling when their significance are revealed in True route. - I like the writer's take on some tropes. For example, the 'promise in childhood' trope is written on a different angle here. I like it. - The dialogues are funny! Or maybe it tunes with my sense of humor. The neutral things: - Birds are actually significant here, not just marketing ploy. I decided to read this when I found that Hatoful Boyfriend is not well-regarded in VN communities, but highly-praised in gaming communities instead. While I agree that it doesn't have the greatest plot/writing, I think it has better plot than most VNs out there. Unfortunately, the relatively low quality of the individual routes might spur you off. Still, it has the feel of grandeur story with big reveal, something akin to Ryukishi07 VNs, Ever17, 999, Euphoria, etc2, which makes it a good entry VN in my book. Just want to share my take with you all. EDIT: Fix formatting.
  9. Most NDS/3DS VNs. 999, VLR, Phoenix Wright series (my favorite), Hotel Dusk, etc2. Muv-Luv Alternative has romance, but it's miniscule compared with its lengthy story. And Phenomeno.
  10. Nature Prophet gets buffed, Alliance instantly kicks Niqua and welcomes back Admiral Bulldog.
  11. Hmm, why I think so highly of OD aghanim is not his damage, but his ability to divide enemy team into two. On a 5v5 teamfight, at least getting 2 heroes astraled is not that hard with OD's ult. In that situation, you have 3v5 situation for 4 seconds. I don't think it's going to be used for teamfight setup like Naga into Black Hole for example (though it's possible if the enemy team is stupid), but it will be used to tip the scale of a teamfight with mass undispellable disable. You can still even use your Astral too to disable 1 more hero.
  12. Now that I think about it, isn't OD aghanim a little bit too OP? It takes out multiple heroes for 4 seconds. Imagine Echo Stomp that deals heavy damage, steals INT, no cast time, and a much wider AoE. Meanwhile, your team ganks on the other unastraled heroes. If you need it, you can even cast another Astral on a hero after the ult, taking him out completely for 8 seconds. Easily the best Aghanim upgrade along with Centaur.
  13. This patch is going to stay at Test client probably. I haven't played test client yet, but from what I read, Octarina Core is just too OP for AoE magic heroes like Zeus/Leshrac. Zeus is already too good right now. Also, lots of changes are potentially buggy/has unforeseen consequences. I have mixed feeling about Alchemist aghanim. But I think him quadrupling Bounty rune gold will be meta-breaking.
  14. Agh Morphling copies Agh Naix. Both Naix and Morphling assimilate another Hero, then infest Nature Prophet/Spirit Breaker/Clockwerk/Tinker. Taking global strat to another level, haha.
  15. I never know there is a dota thread here. Anyway, 6.84 patch will be released this week. It's a huge patch!
  16. What is Vizal no Nikki about?
  17. Are you talking about Eiri route? Cause the after-story is my most favorite scene in the game. In that case, I fully agree with you! I like reading the relationship part and short snippets of life after graduating from highschool. Now, why it is rare, I think that's because it is usually done to solicit heartwarming from the readers. I think it's hard to write it without resorting back to romcom. It's kinda like writing a slice-of-life without comedy. Also, now I'm interested in reading Noble Works, since you mentioned it in this thread. Hmm, Amane route has a closure. Not the plot-reveal closure kind, but the life-after-highschool closure kind.
  18. asm is too hard for casuals like me
  19. Soukoku no Arterial has interface patch. Princess Waltz has a card battle, somewhat. Full english on text and interface. That's it for translated VN. Though I haven't played any of them. Outside of VN... Good old yugioh. Ygopro for automated dueling system + a lot of anime cards. Duelingnetwork for manual one, but with better community. Vantage Master for a great blend between card battle and Turn-based strategy. Card City Night is pretty underrated card game. The gameplay is very unique. It's cheap in Steam. If you love collecting cards as well, it's also there without paying a single additional dime. Keep in mind that I don't mention "Free-to-Play" TCG. If you are looking them, they are a lot and easy to find. Though I'd like to give a shoutout to Alteil for the best card game I have every played, but also with the worst business model. However, I heard they are rebuilding, so maybe you want to check it out. That's all that I can think of for now, I'll add later if I can remember everything else. EDIT: Sword girl online is an anime-heavy TCG. There is a fan-made simulator (with multiplayer) too if you don't want to play the original version. The gameplay is funny though.
  20. Well, iirc, Da Capo somewhat fits the bill. Since the heroines are mostly independent from each other. The common route is where the protagonist is getting to know each heroine, confession happens at early stage of the individual route, then kyakya ufufu till the end (with drama in-between).
  21. No, I can't and never want to. I prefer to concentrate on one VN at one time. Though sometimes I read a VN while I'm watching a dota match, if the VN is slow
  22. I have played those. Yumi Miru Kusuri is also another example that really suits what I want. Noted, thanks! I will only read those either when my Japanese has reached a good mastery or a translation is released, whichever comes first
  23. As titled. Something similiar that I can think of is LovelyXCation (and its sister series). Charage with no/little drama is preferrable. Anyone has any recommendation? EDIT: To clarify, heroines are (mostly) strangers to each others, or at most acquaintances.
