  1. My locale is set to Japanese. I tried applocale too. I even tried running the game with Japanese locale and applocale at the same time. Date format may cause this kind of problems too? That's kinda hard to believe. I tried setting it to Japanese just in case and it didn't help.
  2. Am I the only one with this problem?
  3. Well, I'm skipping hentai scenes. Especially when they're completely unnecessary (which is almost always).
  4. If talking about ongoing translations, right now I'm waiting for I/O, 12Riven, Root Double and Subarashiki Hibi translations. My mind is so hungry for descent mindscrew. I also kinda hope that mangagamer would pick up Kara no Shoujo 2 translations. But that's pretty unlikely, I think.
  5. Hello. I am also still a newbie here. And yay, You're translating Steins;Gate. Just like me... *brofist* Good luck. It could be hard to translate something like this because of huge amount of cultural references. More than in any other novel I know. Also, about tools of English TL-team. I might still have them, or at least some of them. I could share them with you, If you need. But, if you already have an agreement with English TL-team, maybe it's better for me not to interrupt.
  6. Finjas breaks into thread. So, I personally like Abo Takeshi's music a lot. Really, this man is a genius. Just Listen to this (Too bad it's not allowed to post more youtube-links): I do like dramatic soundtracks like something that was mentioned before - (Clannad, Kanon, Whatever. Takeshi Abo coping with this as well.) - But I more of a Suspense-type. Takeshi Abo is just perfect for Sci-Fi Thrillers, which is my favorite genre not only in VN, but in everything. His soundtracks are always inspire me. But, well, if we forget about suspense, I really like Manyo's (Little Wing) soundtracks for Innocent Grey novels. It is when something incredibly romantic adjoining with something unsettling. So melancholic and beautiful... Best thing to listen in the fresh winter morning with a cup of coffee. When you all so lonely and sad... without a girlfriend or something... all alone... Oh, sorry. I got carried away. Anyway, makes me cry. Every time. Just now, Listening to it I used two packs of wipes. Damn you, Innocent Grey! Cheating the system. Pretend you didn't see anything but still accidentally click those nonexistent links below. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=h8EmX1aTAnI https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Il4JlSLy8Bg Oh, and about topic starter's question. Did you know that 07th Expansion calls their games not Visual but Sound novels? If you played Higurashi, Umineko or Higanbana you can say, that there are almost no differences between them and usual NVL-type visual novels. It's maybe only a justification of 07 Expansion's graphic madskillz, though. Still, at least part of this statement about Sound novels is definitely true.
  7. But even in Xbox version. Romance is very secondary in Chaos;Head and start to develop only on second half. It serves only as a bonus addition, so if you prefer stories that hardly relies on heroines, Chaos;Head isn't like that. It's more about a male protagonist. (As Jun said, yeah) But I'd recommend it even if you don't like this kind of plots. [Geek's opinion mode] Chaos;Head is really a unique masterpiece[/Geek's opinion mode] [undeniable truth mode] (as long as you stay the hell away from anime-adaptation. it's just one of the most horrible animes ever. Especially, considering original VN, which as I said already - a masterpiece). [/undeniable truth mode] The thing you really should know before starting Chaos;Head, it's not only story driven, it's kinda horror-novel, you see. (Hey, It's called Chaos;Head, what did you expect?) Something between "denpa" novel and Science Fiction thriller. And also, there is thread already -
  8. It seems G-senjou no Maou is quite popular on this forum, so I decided to give it a shot. The second time, in fact. I tried already, but... Characters are... bad. I mean, they're so flat and cliche (except Eichi, I guess), It's kinda annoying. Is it supposed to be like this? Does it get better?
  9. Well, first of all I need to tell that originality or good character disclosure is often enough for me to like the character. Even if he's a complete asshole, pathetic, violent or whatever, so: 1) Nishijou Takumi (Chaos;Head). - So Paranoid he's cool. He's just perfect fit to the conspiracy thriller story. Mal Gibson's character in Conspiracy Theory is just boring, compared to Takumi. His vision of the events in chaos;Head makes this hell looks even more hellish. Nightmarish and paranoid inferno of horrifying despair. Okabe Rintarou (Steins;Gate). Everybody loves him, yeah. Those two are in the first place of top. Not only because they're great, but because I saw much of my own character's features in them. 2) Sakisaka Fuminori (Saya no Uta) Immoral bastard in me was exulting, when I empathized this character. 3) Tokisaka Reiji (Kara no Shoujo) Badass old-school detective with tragic past. So noir. Although, he was a bit too chary of emotions.
  10. Hm, If you'll need some assistance of Russian Community representer, Here I am. I'll help with everything I can. Although, I'm not really into the community. Also, I doubt that you can even call it community. It's pretty scattered. There is some websites and individuals, who translates something (Mostly, From English), though, but as far as I know they aren't all that connected to each other. And, speaking of Russian translations. It's not about quantity, it's about quality. Often translations are pretty lame. There is just horrible translation of Ever17, for example. Can't even imagine how someone can actually read it. So many russian VN-readers prefer to read in English. Although, the situation with translation quality began to improve lately. I think it's a good idea to make fuwanovel something like international web resource for visual novel fans, where everything will be in one place. So, If you need some assistance, I'll gladly help.
  11. I tried to read a trial-version of KnS2. Well, I don't know japanese, but somehow I managed to understand something with help of extra soft. And, I must say, that was great. From the very first minutes. As far as I understood, there was a new main character. I don't know his name, but that's not important. He was accused in murder of his pregnant fiancee (Don't know if she is really his fiancee). There was a murder scene, in which the murderer ripped her stomach and cut the fetus out. (Innocent Grey at it's best). I believe, that's a hint to Rokushiki Makoto (Not sure in spelling). Well, one way or another, after this narrative switches to Tokisaka Reiji. (He now has a voice!) Working with the police he's trying to solve the case. Noir, Little Wing's music, Grim-Dark atmosphere - it's all here. Let's hope mangagamer will be able to reach an agreement with Innocent Grey and release the novel in english. Or, maybe, some fans will translate it. Although, Kara no Shoujo isn't very popular.
  12. No, the anime isn't bad because of art and animation, but because 70% of the story was cut the hell out. As I said before, anime has no rights to be called fiction, it's just a huge spoiler of VN's story. It does nothing, but sums the whole plot of the VN cutting out ALL of details, character's natures, not-necessary (in the opinion of Madhouse animators) pieces of story, character relationships... I mean, really, ALL except the blunt spoilers of main story arc. But I believe you won't be able to enjoy the novel anymore, anyway. Chaos;Head is this kind of thing, that is hardly relies on mindscrewing, suspense and plot twists. If you know the story beforehand in 2 cases out of 3 it'll be just boring to read the original novel. And that's why i deeply hate Madhouse. They set a trap in which 90% of people get caught, depriving themselves of the opportunity to enjoy a unique masterpiece story, which even outmatches Steins;Gate in many. But, anyway, no harm in trying. Maybe you'll be able to enjoy it even after such horrible experience, like watching anime-adaptation.
  13. 999 was great up until the True End. The True End just ruined everything. Answering the question from before. It's cool, atmospheric and pretty original in some ways in the first half, even in one of the "full-endings", which is called Safe-Ending. But as soon as you step out on True Route, it's starting to collapse, using exactly the same plot elements as Ever 17 had used. But, the thing is, In Ever 17 they're were somehow justified, but in 999 they just fell out of nowhere, generating countless plotholes. It may look cool if you didn't read Ever17. Plotholes may even be forgiven, for epic and sudden twists, especially if you're not thinking too much. But thats the whole different story with Ever17 experience. On the other hand, if you read Ever 17 beforehand you at least know how the hell author came up with something like this in true end and won't be too disappointed. From third point of view, if you read 999 before Ever17, you won't be able to enjoy ever17 at it's whole anymore, and as for me, it's better to enjoy Ever17, then 999. Only because the plot was more logical in there, then in 999.
