  1. Well, a successful Kickstarter proves that there's demand for the titles they want to localize. Nothing to lose for Sekai, and much to gain for the VN community. Have they ever failed to deliver, or am I missing something?
  2. That's true, but I don't think it's anything to be concerned about as far as content goes. Most of the actual content in Bethesda games consists of lengthy, multifloor dungeons and areas that you don't really ever have any reason to go to other than for pure exploration. In the grand scope of things, there are actually very few quests and pertinent dialog in more or less all of their games. This would be problematic if FO4 was a game along the lines of Fallout 1 and 2, where variables and massive amounts of text was one of the most appealing features. Would've loved to see the return of the low intelligence script. Absolutely one of the most hilarious features in any game, even to this day.
  3. At this rate, Shenmue 3 is looking to be one of the most successful video games on Kickstarter. It's been less than 10 hours, and they're already close to 1.5m.
  4. Editing and insertion is a lengthy process. Six hours worth of text took me upwards of a hundred hours to implement, test and troubleshoot by myself with limited scripts. If the VNDB length is anything to go by, I wouldn't hold my breath for release anytime soon.

    E3 2015

"Console exclusive on X." If anything, PC gamers have won E3. It's actually really sad. The only console that's worth picking up at this point is the Wii U. I was going to buy a PS4, but if Uncharted 4 and Guerilla ADHD fuel is what it has to offer, I'm not interested. It's also too late for The Last Guardian to garner any interest from me. Not to mention that Bloodborne will become obsolete with the release of Dark Souls 3, which is going to be available on every platform. Microsoft didn't do any better. I was cringing in my seat during the Gears 4 reveal. Did they really consider it highlight of the show? Really? It was running sub-25 FPS, not only had graphics comparable to Gears of War 1 on PC - but gameplay, too. Also, you could probably have died of alchohol poisoning if you played the MS drinking game. "The way you experience games! EXPERIENCE! EXPERIENCE! LEVEL UP! YOU LEARNED 'BULLSHIT!'" The Fallout 4 information and footage has been the most exciting thing about E3 thus far. A FFVII remake is all well and good, but we won't see it on any platform until 2020 - 2022. Not sure we'll even see FFXV by then. Not to mention Kingdom Hearts. Square-Enix used new version of Frog's theme from Chrono Trigger in their E3 trailer. Whether it's just a Wii U port of the DS version of CT, or music DLC for one of their rhythm games, there will likely be something Chrono related at their conference.

And knowing Atlus, now unironically paired with Sega, it'll be another five years before Persona 5 sees the light of day in Europe. The punchline will probably be that it's region locked.

I'm hoping for a PS4 Slim reveal. I've been looking to buy a PS4 lately. As far as the show goes, I'm mostly looking forward to the PC conference and new games in general. Fallout 4 footage would be great, but who knows what Bethesda have planned. Traditionally, they do show a fairly lengthy and highly scripted gameplay demonstration whenever they have a new Elder Scrolls or Fallout on the way. Looking forward to FFXV, KH3, Tales of Berseria, Persona 5 and so on as well, but TGS is more likely to have anything substantial on those.
  8. Well, he lived longer than any of us likely will. And in great health and wealth.
  9. Steam sales ceased to be exciting for me two years back. I own over a thousand games on Steam already, and everything in the daily and flash deals that I'd be interested in is something I already own.
  10. That's all well and good, but you don't actually get your money back. You get Steam funds to buy Steam products with. EA still has Valve beat on this one.
  11. That god-awful Gamebryo/Creation Engine has to go. Assuming the engine hasn't been heavily modified, it's safe to say that there will be just as many loading times in FO4 as there's been in Bethesda games since Oblivion. It will likely have the same modding limitations as previous games. Not to mention that they're obviously bringing back a more "refined" version of monetized modding. As far as the game go, it's hard to say. They've already messed up the lore by introducing Vertibirds during the war itself. Only prototypes existed, and none were put into use until the events of FO2, where the Enclave had gotten its hands on them.
  12. I did a few things that may have caused problems. I actually did not rename the folder "Kikokugai" before running the cg extract / repack scripts. There are lots of images that are translated though. I've tried to re-do that process actually, didn't change anything. Patch used is latest from tawm's blog, untld source is the one on cat noise with lots of Japanese in its name (not actually the recommended one...). Something weird happened during installation regarding softdenchi stuff I think, but that might just have been some crack working... although the release came with some kind of crack as well, weird. Is this a known bug, just how it was in the original, or do I have a problem? I haven't been very active lately, so this is post is definitely far too late and unnecessary, but what the hell. in the original version, a name would be displayed in place of a portrait when a character's face was shown in a CG. Given that the English names are twice as long, and that initially, text was vertical, this did not translate well. I did a *lot* of cross referencing with the Russian art related patch to see what could be done, and they did do it similarily to how it was in the original. Looked absolutely awful, so I opted to simply make it completely blank, as people would be able to deduce who's talking either way. I did initially look into replacing the font images with actual portraits, but each character only uses one, meaning that the character could be having a seizure in the displayed CG, but be smug looking in the portrait. I'm currently re-working the patch and finishing up the redesigned menus, so I'll be looking into changing the the scripts around to have the name-only portraits make use of multiple situational character portraits when applicable. Certain characters do not have portraits, though.
  13. Oh snap. They've almost blown their entire load this year. Only three other games I know of that's currently in development and not due for release in 2015. Does that mean that there will be another JAST draught for years to come?
  14. The only VN related depression I've had is related to spending over a hundred hours in less than a week working on the localization of the Kikokugai remake. Shaved off years of my life. Slept for 3 hours total that week. VNs like Ayakashibito and Muv-Luv Alternative had me sad throughout, but none of them persisted after the credits rolled. Had VNs like Saya no Uta, Kikokugai, Kara no Shoujo and so forth on my mind for weeks after finishing them, but nothing close to depression.
  15. I assumed he was universally hated. Hanachirasu repeated itself far too much. The info dumping was too excessive; generally feeding you the same information over and over again. I found the writing fairly uninteresting and predictable. Saw the plot twist coming when Akane started talking about how he had found Great art and music like with any Nitro+ title, but I wouldn't otherwise recommend it to anyone when you have superior revenge VNs out there.
  16. Yes. I've been on a 5 day split for about a year now, with some random downtime now and then. I'm still only around 74kg at 8% bodyfat, though. I have short bowel syndrome after twisted bowels, so chances are, I'm not gaining much more weight in this lifetime.
  17. If you don't find any enjoyment in it, you move on.
  18. I intend to replay Ayakashibito. It's been around a year since I first completed it. I remember one of my first posts were in an Ayakashibito discussion. While I did start a playthrough with a friend using my TV, he kind of lost interest halfway through Touko's route in December last year. Thinking back, I definitely seem to spend more time replaying old favorites rather than finding new material. Played around 6 or 7 new VNs last year, but replayed 12 or so. I'm just overly sentimental. Even when it comes to TV shows and such. I've read Berserk close to 10 times; watched The Shield at least 8 times, episode for episode, and I listen to the same all music all year around. Speaking of which: I'm also replaying Cho Dengeki Stryker. Yep. Replaying.
  19. Yeah, it does require a frontend on mobile platforms, though you can also use it on a CFW PSP without one. PC is essentially extract and execute. Personally, I can't stand tiny screens. Even as a kid, I was infuriated at how tiny the display was on my GBC while playing Pokemon Red and Silver. I doubt I'll ever touch a handheld outside of emulation again. I even stretch those GBA games to 16:9 across my big TV. It's comedic. Sharp bilinear and CRT filters do scale it properly in HD, though, so there's that.
  20. I think Cho Dengeki Stryker should have your needs covered entirely. It's pretty much exactly what you described. Ayakashibito is another one which matches your criteria. Also one of my all-time favorites. *Very* heavy on the h-scenes, though. Some of the most over-the-top and explicit scenes I can think of.
  21. "fking no" sums it up perfectly. It's a big "DO NOT WANT" for me; both in fiction and reality.
